This is the very first story I've ever written so sorry if it's boring/cringey. However, I promise that I'll do my best to write a good story ;) I would like to point out that this story will take place sometime in the early 2000s starting with Sailor Stars episode 8 and season 3 episode 4 of Winx Club. Usagi and her friends will be in their final year of high school because the age gap between her and Mamoru is absolutely foul, which means Usagi became Sailor Moon around her sophomore year. Also, I will be adding some parts of the Sailor Moon manga to this story since there were some elements I just preferred over the 90s anime. Finally, my knowledge of Winx lore is very lacking compared to what I know about Sailor Moon so sorry if I mess up the magic system and/or history of Winx. Just let me know if I'm wrong about something and I'll fix it.
As the Winx club make their way to their third year at Alfea Miss Griselda immediately approaches the group of friends.
"Girls it's good to see you all again. Faragonda requests you all go to her office immediately." Griselda said.
"Huh, I wonder what it is..." Stella ponders as everyone walks to Faragonda's office.
Once they arrive at her office Bloom takes the lead and takes a deep breath before opening the door.
"Girls! We have an urgent mission for you all." Faragonda stated without even greeting them first.
"Wait wait wait Miss Faragonda, we haven't even started the next school year and you're telling us that you already have a mission for us?" Stella exclaimed while she understands that they all had responsibilities. It would be nice to enjoy the new school year at least a bit, she didn't even have any time to greet her new teachers!
"Yes, I know and I'm sorry but this is urgent. I'm afraid that this will be a very very busy year for you girls. First I must introduce you all to you Enchantix, the final stage of reaching your full powers as fairies. I know all of you are ready for this challenge ahead. In order to achieve Enchantix you must save someone from your realm through a feat of great sacrifice."
"Wait a second what about Blo-" Flora tried to ask.
Interrupting Flora Faragonda responds, "Right… I'm sorry Bloom but I'm afraid that you won't be able to achieve Enchantix but don't worry. After all, you already have the power of the dragon flame, I know if you cultivate that power you'll be able to surpass fairies that are able to wield Enchantix."
Great Bloom thought she can't even become a fully-fledged fairy…at least she can train her dragon flame power but she didn't have any clue on how to use it more effectively. It's not like there's anyone alive that knows how to wield this mysterious power.
"How am I supposed to train using the dragon flame if all of our classes are teaching us about Enchantix?"
"Don't worry Bloom I have already been searching for magic users that could help you with your power, rest assured I will do everything I can to get you the tools you need."
Feeling a little better Bloom was a little glad that the headmistress was attempting to cater for her powers.
"However I'm afraid that achieving Enchantix will be the least of your worries this year. For you see we have been noticing strange dark energy on Earth. There seem to be these nefarious magical users known as "phages" they have been wreaking havoc in Japan and we need you guys to investigate this issue. "
"Wait Earth? Could that be the result of Earth fairies?" Tecna asked while any energy on Earth wouldn't automatically mean an Earth fairy. She wanted to be hopeful since she was always interested in learning about fairies from all the different realms.
"We're not sure, that's why we need you girls to investigate this magic. Honestly, there's something foreign about this magic so perhaps there is an Earth fairy, but seeing how the magic appears to be evil I'm afraid that the mysteries lurking on Earth only spell trouble."
"Why do we need to investigate Earth? Aren't there more qualified and trained fairies that would be better for this task?" Aisha asked, they weren't even fully-fledged fairies. It seemed like Faragonda wants the girls to waste their final year at Alfea by being away from a stake-out mission in Japan for an unknown amount of time.
"That's a good question Aisha, and you're right. However, it seems that you girls are the best option for this mission, our top fairies and even our specialists won't be able to take this mission since all of them are busy due to more internal problems on their respective planets. Plus I know most of you already have experience with Earthly customs so you will be able to easily adapt to life on Earth." Her eyes rested on Bloom as she paused for a bit.
Bloom was visibly uncomfortable, Stella noticing decided to step in front of her. Honestly, she couldn't believe the Head Mistress, not only did she just tell Bloom that she can't become a full fairy, but she expects her to go on this stupid mission. Plus how can she expect a teenager to master the most powerful magic of the universe? She knows how much that power freaks Bloom out and how it scares her. Stella swore that the ancient power would swallow up Bloom one day if she wasn't careful. At least Faragonda isn't making Bloom train by herself but still, it felt like she was putting way too much stress onto Bloom. She's a kind girl and if something went wrong with one of those experimental teachers she knew what kind of effect that would have on Bloom's mind. Ugh, and now expects her to go on this mission because she lived on Earth. Seeing how Stella was the first person that introduced Bloom to this life of fairies she always felt like she had to step up for Bloom, almost like a big sister would.
"Don't tell me you gave us this mission because of b-"
Interrupting Stella with a stern look she cleared her throat and stated, "Now, now I'm not saying that all of you have to go on this mission right away after all I think it would be best that some of you stay behind for a bit to train on your Enchantix abilities and then arrive to Japan. Then the original group can exchange information that they gathered and then return to Alfea so they can also train for their final form."
Bloom unsure of Faragonda's intentions felt herself blush at the declaration, does that mean she always meant for Bloom to go on this mission? Does she have to go to Japan first? Will she have to go alone until one of her friends can get their Ecnahtix form? Oh no, how long would that even take? As Bloom's face started to fill with even more worry Tecna and Stella exclaimed.
"We'll go!"
Musa, Flora, and Aisha looked at each other in awe at their friends' eagerness.
"Hey, you don't have to do this," Bloom whispered to Stella, turning around Stella gave her a reassured look and winked as she turned to face Farogonda.
"A-are you sure? As I said you don't have to go there immediately, keep in mind I don't know how long you will have to be there so your Enchantix training will be delayed for an unforeseeable time."
"Yes, yes bla blah blah. I don't care, as the former princess of Solaria I'll be able to instantly defeat this "dark energy" with my light powers!" she exclaimed clearly determined to do this mission.
"I've always wanted to go to Earth and learn more about the technology they use there, I think it would be a great learning opportunity for me. Plus I already have extensive knowledge about Earth magic so I think it would be best if I went on this mission." Of course, she also wanted to go because she wanted her friends to have the chance to work on their Enchantix power. Plus seeing Bloom stress out so much made her want to help her out as much as she could. Hopefully, her efforts won't be futile.
"Hmm, if you say so… and what about you Bloom?" Farogonda pressed.
"What about her? She clearly doesn't want to go!" Aisha exclaimed there are already 2 fairies going on this mission why does Faragonda keep singling her out? This isn't like the Head Mistress…
"No, it's okay Aisha." Bloom said as she tenderly placed a hand on her friend's shoulder, "thanks" she whispered. Then continued, "I'll go Faragonda."
"Perfect, so it will be Stella, Tecna, and Bloom that will be going first. Before I let all of you go though I would like to introduce you to Valtor, you will all be communicating to him during this mission for he was the one that first spotted the magical appearances first. He will be joining you, girls, later on, after he has finished his job here in Alfea. Oh, and Bloom I believe that you can learn a great deal from him." She said cooly.
Right when Bloom saw Valtor her heart dropped, she recognized him from the time she was at Solaria. She was looking for her room and ran into the countess, Valtor was with them and she had a terrible feeling in her stomach when first saw him. Now she's experiencing that dread again. While she trusted Miss Faragonda, there was no way that she was going to work with that creep, there was definitely something off about him.
"Hello, girls I will do my best to assist you during your mission. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask me," He said with a cruel grin.
Before anyone else could say anything Musa asked, "Right, and will that be all?"
Faragonda nodded and quickly Musa ushered all of the girls out of the office.
Waiting until they were far from the room Musa exclaimed, "Ok I can't be the only one that felt something was extremely off?"
"No, I definitely noticed something strange about the Head Misstress. She was extra pushy and strict." Aisha claimed as she crossed her arms.
"Seriously! Where did she get the nerve? Giving us this vague investigation, and practically forcing Bloom to do it? Oh and don't get me started on that Valtor creep." Stella shuddered as she recalled his terrifying presence. He had long strawberry hair with side bangs and an outfit that matched the macabre vampire style straight out of something such as Dracula. Honestly, his skin was so pale that Stella wouldn't be surprised if that man grew up in a coffin!
"Hey don't worry about me Stella, honestly I don't mind going. But are you sure you want to go on this mission? You too Tecna I don't want you guys to miss out on this school year." Truthfully she didn't want to go to Japan, she knew it wasn't going to be what she was used to in Gardenia. Plus Bloom was worried that she was hindering her friend's progress toward achieving their final forms.
Smiling Tecna and Stella both grabbed Bloom's hands and smiled at her. Understanding their resolve Bloom was glad that she wasn't going to be alone during this mission.
"Don't worry Bloom just give me a week and I'll get my Enchantix powers then I will join you guys before that Valtor dude shows up," Aisha promised, honestly she wanted to immediately go with them but she had to stay behind to sort out her own problems. Back in her homeland Andros, the ocean's waves have been disruptive and uncontrollable, and there were even strange reports of zombies lurking under the water's surface. She couldn't leave her people behind, even if it meant she couldn't support Bloom.
"Hah, a week? Please by then the three of us will discover the mystery behind the magic, defeat it if it's evil, and come back before you know it!" Stella replied in an arrogant manner.
While Stella's declaration was ridiculous it served as a good way to lighten up the mood cheering the whole group up. Once the girls were done laughing Flora spoke up.
"You know what? What if we launched a little investigation of our own? It'll be harmless I promise!" Flora proposed, she wasn't sure how her friends were going to react to her idea but she decided that it was worth a shot.
"Sure what do you suggest Flora?" Musa was always a fan of bending the rules so she knew she would be on board for anything Flora suggests.
"Well… Why don't we investigate Farogonda, we all thought she was being weird, oh and... Perhaps we should spy on that Valtor dude too. If you ask me just his voice alone was suspicious, there's no way anyone would trust him with sensitive information." Unsure of her suggestion, admittedly it's a bit far-fetched. Plus using such a small reason to be distrustful of her higher-ups brought a bit of shame upon the timid girl. Nevertheless, if the Winx Club was going to be split up because of Faragonda and Valtor then they should've expected them to go behind their backs.
"Oh, that's a great idea, Flora!" Musa was excited to have her own side mission with her closest friends. Even if it led to dead ends, it would be nice to do it just to get back at the Headmistress for being a total jerk.
"Honestly I wasn't sure how to say this but I've seen Valtor before. It was when we were all Solaria… He was trailing behind Cassandra and Chimera so I thought he was one of their advisors, but seeing him here just seems so wrong." The school year just started and already Bloom felt that this familiar place was becoming more and more distant.
Once they made their way to their dorm Stella, Tecna and Bloom helped the others unpack and decided to scheme what the plan would be for their secret mission. Once they finished they all went to sleep after the stressful day.
Unfortunately, for Stella, she was wide awake. Truthfully speaking, Stella didn't have a clear conscious. While her main reason for taking on this mission was to help out her friend, she also had another reason. She wanted to escape her family just for a little while. The party at Solaria was awful, plus her new step-family treated her like garbage. It even rained there for the first time ever! It felt like something was in the shadows out to ruin Stella's life. She was embarrassed when was turned into a lizard, she was embarrassed that she lost her scepter to Chimera, and she was ashamed that she wasn't the princess of Solaria. However, it was nice to learn that her friends didn't like her because of her looks. Even her boyfriend admitted that he doesn't care what she looked like, it was heart-warming. She decided that she will just have to keep rising up to the occasion to prove herself. Just not yet... She wasn't ready, she needed time to be away from all of her responsibilities, at least for a little while. Once the mission is over Stella promised herself that she will stop at nothing to prove herself. In the meantime, she had to make it up to Bloom, for taking on this mission for another reason. She felt like a coward, running away from everything and covering it up as a heroic act. After all, she was positive that Bloom's problems are much more prevalent compared to Stella's family drama.
Just like Stella, Tecna was also having problems with sleeping. She was upset with the Head Mistress for being so disrespectful toward her friend. Telling her she couldn't be a full fairy then pressuring her to go on a mission where she couldn't train her powers? She knew everyone else was upset but she was mostly worried for Bloom. She didn't say much during that meeting, and even when they were in their room she was still quiet. Despite the sympathy she had for her friend she was still excited. It was a type of nervous excitement she gets from waiting for her test results. While she always does good on them she's always a little nervous that she might've failed. While test results are nothing compared to this she still felt the same emotions just on a heightened scale. Either way, she was excited to go to Earth, she hasn't been there much and she couldn't wait to learn more about the culture and technology there. Plus the chance to learn more about Earth magic and potentially meet an Earth fairy was terribly thrilling. She hated the idea of her friends being split up so once everyone fell asleep she left the dorm and decided to contact Timmy to work on a personal project.
