In an alternate ASOIAF world, Robert Baratheon dies at the Trident, slain by Arthur Dayne. Rhaegar Targaryen wins the rebellion and marries a resentful Lyanna Stark. The North, hating the Targaryen Dynasty, becomes a hotbed of espionage and assassination attempts, leading to a tense cold war between the North and South. Rhaegar's rule over the Iron Throne is fragile!

The Starks of the North have a long history filled with great Kings, wars of conquests to unite the North, and battles to defend it. They are the Kings of Winter and they can do so much more for the North that will change Westerose. It leads into an AU (not a major change) just a different history of the North leading to a stronger North in the end.

An army of the dead march towards the Wall and the best defense is a man who has already known death. Mainly a Gendrya story, but overall ASOIAF.

The battle of the Trident has a different outcome. Robert falls and Rhaegar rises to become King first of his name, and as such legitimized his son by Lyanna and raises him in the red keep as Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen. Jae never felt at home in the south until he went North and became a Hero of legend. Now back in the Red Keep after 6 long years he attempts to find his home
