SUP GUYS! Again...Terribly sorry for not making my deadline again...Haizz...I thought I would have more time after my exams and would you flipping know it...they asked me to submit a proposal for my final year project so I have been stuck balancing that and this story...Welp...At least I finished both of it now...Cheers to only two weeks left of break for me T~T... Anyways, this will be the conclusion of the first round of the Autumn Elections and this is also the first time I decided to write a POV view of character so tell me what do you guys think about that~~~ Hope the chapter lives up to your long wait and next chapter will probably be the same with the semi-final matches~~

Having enough of her lovers laughing and teasing at her, Erina huffed in embarrassment and walked out of her room to fulfill her duty as one of the management committee members of the Autumn Elections.
Despite trying her best to remain composed, there was a slight shade of red on her cheeks when she questioned her grandfather's decision of awarding a draw.
"Ojii-sama, is this your final verdict?"
"Yes, my dear. The overall taste and impact of the dishes leave me no choice but to award a draw." Senzaemon explained as he scooted aside to allow Erina to have a taste of the dishes.
Ushered by the hopeful gaze Megumi was directing at her, Erina took a bite of her dish first. After slowly savoring the taste of Megumi's dish, she did not give any response as she then place a spoonful of Kurokiba's salmon rice inside her mouth.
Applying her god-given ability to the fullest, Erina's mind was now operating at high speed to find any advantages or disadvantages that could tip the balance of the dishes. After what seemed like a constant back and forth within her mind, Erina finally opens her eyes and gazes directly at the new couple.
Giving them a reassuring smile, Erina spoke: "On behalf of my role as the main management committee, I, Nakiri Erina declare that the match between Kurokiba Ryo and Tadokoro Megumi results in a draw."
While the students were excited by the prospect of what's to come after the declaration, the bookies in the VIP section were livid with the decision. But, before they could latch out at this unprecedented situation, Erina silences them by saying: "Or are you all doubting my ability to judge?"
With the cold gaze of the ice queen directly at them, the bookies had no choice but to retract their complaints as they knew that no one in the world has a better taste bud than her.
Satisfied by her own work, Erina then turned to her grandfather and spoke her thoughts on the matter. "Ojii-sama, the autumn elections will now continue with an uneven number of participants for the next round unless one of the following matches follows the same conduct. Could I presume that if it does not happen, one semi-final match will be conducted in a three-way battle for the final?"
"That is correct. What better way is there to commemorate this unprecedented occasion with the first three-way battle in Autumn Elections History." Senzaemon said to the crowd who were elated to be part of such a historic moment.
"I'm sure it will be a lot of preparations that need to be done after this but could you do this old man a favor, my dear?" Senzaemon asked Erina with a wink.
Already expecting this when she asked for her own favor, Erina smile in reply: "It won't be a problem Ojii-sama. This is minor compare to what is coming next."
"What is coming next?" A new voice suddenly resounded behind them as the two of them were met with a curious-looking Soma and a grinning Alice.
"Not…Nothing is next Soma, what…whatever do you mean?" Erina replied with a stutter.
"Suspicious…" Soma said as he leaned in closer to Erina.
As the distance between them became shorter and shorter, Erina immediately pleaded for help with her eyes swarming towards Alice. Grinning mischievously at her cousin, Alice mouths the words "You owe me~~" silently in replied.
Nodding quickly in response, Erina saw Alice immediately linking her arms with Soma and dragging him towards her mother.
Heaving a huge sigh of relief, Erina directed her gaze away from the two and towards the arena. Bearing a smile on her face as she took in the place, many could only assume it was because she successfully dealt with the matter swiftly but only Senzaemon and Alice knew that her smile held a tinge of excitement and anticipation as well.
'Tomorrow's finally the day…It's strange…but I feel pleasantly calm despite having my wish of facing Yukihira again…' Takumi thought as he takes in the scenery from his apartment window.
"Sorry Takumi-kun~~~But, the newcomer's dish tastes better."
"I hate to admit it but your brat wins this one Joichiro…."
"Osomatsu!" Soma said as he removes his headband before lovingly wrapping it to his left arm again.
"Nii-san lost…" Isami said in shock as he trembly look at the chef who had just bested his brother.
"Impossible…Our Italian cuisine lost…I lost…" Takumi muttered in despair.
While the two Aldini brothers were still trying to process what just happen, the adults were having their own conversation about the match.
"Well~~I did not expect to taste something this delightful when I walk in today." Yue said as she elegantly wipes off the sauce from her mouth.
"I know he is your brat but to convincingly beat Takumi…Is It just me that feels like he's on a whole other level than other's in his age group…" Dino said while trying his best to remain calm.
"Heh, who did you think put him through the wringer?" Joichiro boast to the two seated with him which earned him a glare.
"Haha…Before you guys sue me for child labor, this is what Soma wanted. He has something he needs to accomplish." Joichiro said as he looks at his cheerful son.
"His goals? His goal of becoming the best chef in the world?" Yue inquired curiously.
"Heh, why don't you ask the kid yourself? He'll be pleased to tell you but, prepared to intake some sugary content." Joichiro said with a smirk.
"Oi oi… are you telling me that the son of one of the densest people in our school has already found someone?" Dino said disbelievingly.
"Nah." Joichiro dismisses Dino's claim immediately but the smirk was still on his face.
"Hehe~~Dino, if I recall correctly, you still haven't had a child yet so doesn't that make you even worse than Joichiro here~~? Yue teased which caused Dino to frown.
While the adults were busy exchanging some banter, Soma took the initiative and spoke with his crestfallen opponent.
"Phew~~~That was a good match Takumi, I haven't face someone my age who can give me a challenge since leaving Japan." Soma said as he began stretching his arms.
"…"
"We really should do it again, I'm still raring to go."
"…"
"Is Isami as good as you? Man, if that's the case then this stop would prove quite fruitful compare to the others haha." Soma laughed as he recalls some places where he was busy running away from his fans.
"How…"
"Hmm? Did you say something?" Soma blinked and look at Takumi directly.
"How did you get this good?" Takumi asked while shaking.
"?" Soma did not reply as he tilt his head sideways in confusion.
"I've been here at my uncle's place training since I was five. I know that I possess the skills to be on par with some veteran chefs…I know that the me now has yet to grasp everything there is to learn in Italian cuisine but, to be put to the sword that easily by you… It's frustrating!" Takumi said out loud to vent his frustration.
"Nii-san…" Isami to the side could only stare at the interaction in front of him.
Frustrated at the lack of response, Takumi was about to continue his rambling but the words from Soma stopped him in his tracks.
"Was it fun?"
"Haa?!" Takumi could not help but do a spit-take at the reply. What in the world could he mean?
"Was our match fun? I know a thing or two or being beaten down by someone you just met you know." Soma said with a smile.
"I fail to comprehend Yukihira. How was it fun for me…I just lost" Takumi said as he struggles to understand what Soma meant.
"Heh, would it be fun when you beat me?" Soma asked with a smirk.
"Of course, I would feel elated when I wipe that smirk off your face. But more importantly, I would feel a sense of accomplishment if I bested you." Takumi said as he slowly stood up.
"Heh~~You're too young to even think of beating me~~" Soma teased with his best shit-eating grin.
"Hah?! I'm the same age as you Yukihira! Don't think you can act cocky for catching me off-guard this one time!" Takumi said as he stood face to face with Soma.
"Hoh~? Was that a signal for a rematch Takumi? I could give you an advantage by letting you choose the theme this time around~~" Soma said while intentionally raising his chin up.
"Grr! You're on Yukihira! Isami! Get your tools ready! We'll be showing this bastard that the last match was just a fluke!" Takumi said as he stormed off to the kitchen with Isami in tow.
"That Yukihira…I bet he did in on purpose to spite me." Takumi said to no one in particular but, a voice responded to his surprise.
"That was probably the only thing that could have gotten to you Nii-san. If it was some words of consolation, I think we would still be stuck at where we were." Isami said as he joined him leaning on the window.
"Hoh? Has my worried brother finish checking what I should pack for tomorrow?" Takumi teased.
"Hehe, you know you are mostly useless outside the kitchen, right?" Isami replied with his own teasing.
"Grr…I'm aware…There's no need to rub salt into the wounds Isami." Takumi growled which earned a series of laughter from his brother.
After Isami had calmed down, he asked Takumi what the odds of him winning against Soma were.
"There's no way to know until both dishes are served. But, the only thing I'm sure off is that I'm going for the win." Takumi said with confidence.
Satisfied with his brother's reply, Isami bid his brother good luck before he fell silent again. Remaining where they still were, the two close their eyes to enjoy the cool breeze while eagerly awaiting the match tomorrow.
While the Aldini brothers were enjoying a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, the same could not be said to Soma as he was busy prying a drunk Alice away from him.
"Soma~~~celebrate with me~~~I won today~~~Slurp~~~" Alice said sultrily as she slowly crawled towards Soma.
"WHO GAVE ALICE RED WINE?!" Soma screamed out loud as he was busy jumping, ducking, weaving away from the white tiger who definitely wanted a piece of his meat tonight.
As Soma was in a pinch to try and save himself, the perpetrator was busy enjoying the payback she inflicted on them.
"Pfft~~~Hahaha~~~That's what they get for teasing me the whole day~~~"
"Was it really necessary, Erina? Yukihira has a match tomorrow you know…" Hisako said exasperatedly.
"Hmph! Something petty like this won't even bother him. Even if he has no rest today, he will still perform and deliver." Erina replied while folding her arms in annoyance.
"Hehe~~You really have change Erina~~I never thought I would see the day when you would pull a prank like that and put so much trust in someone else" Hisako giggle to her friend.
"Don't pull yourself short Hisako. I have as much trust and faith in you as well. You're my closest friend after all." Erina smiles warmly at Hisako.
"Muu…Even if is Erina-sama, I won't let you steal Hisako Onee-sama from me." A voice suddenly interrupted the two.
Turning her attention to the one lying on Hisako's lap, Erina smiled teasingly: "Hehe~~I'm thrilled to see you getting along so well with Hisako, Sadatsuka-san."
"Hai…Onee-sama has been treating me kindly." Sadatsuka replied with a smile of happiness.
"Listen here Nao…I know Megumi allowed you to stay here but could you not stick so close to me every night…" Hisako complained to the one hugging her waist.
Not replying, Sadatsuka just snuggled closer to Hisako which caused her to groan while Erina just chuckled at their interaction.
"Are you prepared, Hisako?" Erina asked after a brief while.
"Yes. I'm not getting overconfident about my chances but I believe in my own ability. I have something to accomplish after all." Hisako replied with a confident tone.
"That's good to hear Hisako. Just remember that there's no shame in showing weakness and fragility, talent only takes you so far after all." Erina said from experience.
"I understand Erina. I am aware that I lack experience compare to you, Alice and Soma. I will face Hayama with the same mindset that he has more experience than me." Hisako replied.
"Mmm. I will be eagerly awaiting your performance Hisako." Erina motivated.
"Good luck Hisako Onee-sama! I will prepare myself as a reward when you win tomorrow~" Sadatsuka 'motivated' with her own words as well.
"No thank you." Hisako bluntly declined which caused her to pout.
"Eeh…"

If you all are wondering where Megumi is, she's busy enjoying her time with Kurokiba. Should we pry on them…Hmm…Why not eh? It's my story after all~~
Having no regard to the people competing tomorrow, Kurokiba invited Megumi out for a light stroll and some private time.
"Hehe~~~I didn't imagine that walking with someone at night on this old muddy path could be so enjoyable." Megumi said as she walked by his side.
"You find many things enjoyable. You're such an easy person after all." Kurokiba said which earned a pout from Megumi.
"Uuu…is that really something you should say to your girlfriend?"
"Girlfriend or not. Tadokoro Megumi is still the same in my eyes."
Without further elaboration, Kurokiba gently took hold of Megumi's hand and intertwined their fingers together.

"I'm very possessive over things that are mine. I won't let them escape my grasp when I locked on to them." Kurokiba said as he leads Megumi forward.
"Hehe~~You really do sound like a pirate Kurokiba-kun. Fighting his way from the bottom to finding treasures and finally keeping hold to them possessively" Megumi said while chuckling.
"Heh…what a troublesome treasure I found indeed." Kurokiba said while joining in on the banter.
After walking a bit more, Kurokiba and Megumi arrive at the top of the hill at Totsuki Academy where they were welcome by a night sky filled with glistering stars. Deciding to take in the view better, both lied down quietly and begun stargazing.
"I'm not one into superstitions but this just feels right to me." Kurokiba spoke up first while gently squeezing their interlock hands.
"En~~~this is all new to me and I can't wait to experience more of it." Megumi replied with a blissful smile
"If I recall correctly, this is not new to you since you can imagine it from your list of Shoujo manga that you read."
"Muu…there's a different feeling from imagination with reality you know." Megumi replied with a cute pout.
"Hehe~~I really didn't take Kurokiba-kun as a romantic but I've been proven wrong twice today." Megumi laughed which caused Kurokiba to raise his eyebrow.
"The bento earlier and now stargazing while lying on the ground. You're really corny aren't you Kurokiba-kun."
"Grr…You really have grown much more talkative and much more courageous after the match." Kurokiba said as he got on top of Megumi.
"Says the one who now completes a sentence rather than muttering some ambiguous words." Megumi teased back not affected slightest by their position.
'What a troublesome partner I have indeed.' Both thought with a smile as their faces inch closer and closer until they could only see each other's reflection in their pupils. Closing their eyes simultaneously, the feeling that could only be described as blissfulness surrounded them as their lips connected with each other for the first time.
With their thoughts only consisting of each other, they did not even notice the blessing granted to them by some supernatural being. It will only be when they separate from each other will they notice that a trail of sparkle was illuminating the already gorgeous night sky.
"Welcome back everyone to day two of the main tournament of the Autumn Elections. I will be your host as usual Urara des~~~" Urara said while posing for some pictures.
"Yesterday was such an odd turn of events starting with a Shokugeki and ending with the first-ever draw in Autumn Elections History. Also~~~We bear witness to the birth of a new couple live on stage so let's extend our congratulation and blessing to both Tadokoro Megumi and Kurokiba Ryo." Urara said as the crowd cheer and whistle at the couple shone upon by the spotlight.
After being glared at by Kurokiba who was shielding a bright red Megumi, Urara redirected the crowd's attention back towards the list of judges where they sat imposingly on their seats. Receiving an affirmative nod from Senzaemon, Urara composes herself before introducing the participants for the first match-up.
"Arriving first on stage, the handsome hot-blooded blonde who has captured the hearts of not only his customers but also the female students in school. Unbeknownst to him, a fan club has already been established to admire his handsomeness. It's the Italian Stallion, Takumi Aldini!" Urara said as Takumi walked on stage to the eruption of delight squeals from his fan club.
"Arriving second on stage…Oi…what are you doing…Kyaa!" Urara was just about to introduced Takumi's opponent but Alice suddenly appeared and stole the mic from her.
"I'll be borrowing this~~~" Alice said before turning to wave at her grandfather and mother seated at the judges' table.
Smiling wryly at the playfulness of Alice, they ignored her actions and allowed her to introduce her beloved to everyone.
"Now then~~~Without any bias, let me introduced the one coming up on stage next~~" Alice said with a sing-song voice while ignoring the glaring from Urara.
"From my research, he is the third most hated guy in school behind Tomato face and his lackey but who really cares about that~~He doesn't need your recognition because he has me and Erina to vouch for him~~~It's Yukihira Soma" Alice introduced to the grunt of the crowd.
Walking out from his gate, Soma shook his head with a smile on his lips at seeing what Alice was doing. "You really plan to make me an enemy of the whole student board huh…"
"Hehe~~I do try my best~~" Alice said cheekily.
"Heh, not like it matters now because I could only see one person standing opposite me now." Soma said as he turned to look directly at Takumi.
"Yukihira, this will be where I'll prove my mantle against you."
"Heh, I wonder how much you have improved since then Takumi. Do I need to remind you of our record~~?" Soma teased.
But to his surprise, Takumi remain composed and responded calmly. "All those losses will only serve as a learning experience for me, I won't get fixated on some past records."
"Hoh~~Then show me what you can do Takumi, let's duel." Soma said as he wrapped his trusted headband on his head.
"Yeah, let's" Takumi responded by loosening the collar around his neck.
"Cough~~~Before you both get your duel disk out, we need to set the conditions for your Shokugeki you know~~" Alice interrupted the duo by reminding them.

"You both forgot about that part right…" Alice deadpanned as she blankly stared at the two.
"Heh~~Who could forget something important like that right, Takumi?" Soma laughed nervously.
"Haha~~ Who could indeed?" Takumi said while laughing nervously as well.
"…Idiots…" Alice muttered out in which everyone in the arena agree upon.
"We're sorry…" Both Takumi and Soma immediately apologized.
"Mou…How about the loser needs to work as the other's assistant in their family restaurant during the break?" Alice proposed.
"Deal" Takumi and Soma quickly replied.
"…Haa…When has a Shokugeki stake be decided by an outsider…There really is a first time for everything…" Alice complained.
"You are right about that Alice…" A voice full of menace suddenly resounded behind Alice.
Mechanically turning her head while swallowing the lump in her throat, she saw Erina glaring at her.
"Gulp…Hehe~~whatever do you mean~~~" Alice asked nervously.
"Barging in on an event, stealing the stage from the host…It's strange…I don't recall something like this to have ever happened before" Erina answered as she walked closer and closer to Alice.
"I wanted to try something new? Hehe~~" Alice said as she slowly moves away from Erina.
"And you can't choose an event where I'm not the main overseer?" Erina said as she took a big stride towards Alice.
"Maybe because it's your event that I have leniency to do so~~?" Alice answered cheekily as she now stood behind Soma.
"Haa…Fine…We'll talk about this later in my room…Let's not delay this match from commencing any longer." Erina said as she grabbed hold of the mic.
"Ahem…With the Shokugeki conditions all set, we will now be commencing the third match for the Autumn Elections main tournament featuring Yukihira Soma and Takumi Aldini. The theme is tomatoes and contestants will have three hours to finish their ado. Without further ado, commence the Shokugeki!" Erina announced as everyone in the stadium immediately lock their attention towards the two chefs who are already position at their stations.
With everything now sorted, Erina dragged Alice away leaving only a pitiful Urara on stage who was muttering: "My job…My attention…" alone wailing on the ground.
"Tch…So that's the kid Fuyumi-senpai was talking about…That blonde Italian kid. Hopefully, he doesn't disappoint since Tomatoes are iconic to Italian cuisine." Taki voiced out her opinion first from the judges' table.
"Hmm~~~I don't think it's that easy Taki-senpai. The main theme is tomatoes so they can't use any meat that could overpower the tomato flavor ~~. I am not looking forward to a simple pasta with Tomato sauce~~~." Sonoka said next.
"At first glance, it may seem like the simplest of themes but it could actually prove to be the most difficult~~ I wonder what Soma-chan has prepared for us~~~What do you think Leonora-dono?" Hisako asked Leonora who is seated next to her.
"Considering its Soma-kun, I will be expecting something ridiculous or something extraordinary. Hopefully, it won't be squid covered with tomatoes~~~" Leonora replied with a small chuckle.
"I think my dear granddaughters will have his head chopped off and splattered in blood to act as a replacement for his dish if he dares serve that catastrophic to us." Senzaemon joked as he joined in on the banter.
Squinting her eyes narrowingly at the yellow-haired boy, Taki could saw that he was making some sort of dough. "That kid is making a dough of some sorts…Is he making some sort of bread or pizza?"
"Eh?! I also don't want to taste bread covered with Tomato sauce…" Sonoka whined.
"Interesting~~~ it seems like both Soma-chan and Takumi-chan have the same idea~~" Hinako said as the judges turned and saw Soma making some sort of pastry before placing it in the refrigerator.
"Tomato spread on bread is generally an Italian-based cuisine which can only be found in Spain as well. Knowing his cheekiness, he would want to challenge others at their best." Senzaemon said while stroking his beard.
"Haa…that has always been both a good habit and bad habit for him…Hehe, I can't wait to taste what devilish cooking he will conjure up." Leonora said with a tone full of anticipation.
As the judges were seating in anticipation, Erina and Alice looked on from above and saw Takumi preparing his passata (Tomato purée).
"A dish that consists of a Tomato purée, garlic cloves, and basil springs…Not only that…He's also rolling and spreading the dough to four even sides…It must be that" Erina pointed out.
"Hmm~~~It sure is different from a Neapolitan pizza. All I know is that the one he is making is often thickly crusted and rectangular~~~" Alice replied.
"It's a good choice for this match since this pizza links to one's local culture and country traditions. The variety may differ from where he learned it from."
"Heh~~~Not does it matter thought~~~Soma's just one step ahead Hehehe~~" Alice laughed.
"You really are suited to be the villain you know…"

"Hmm~~~? Did you say anything Erina~~?" Alice asked while tilting her head cutely.
"I say let's focus on what Soma is doing" Erina replied while feigning ignorance.
"Soma? He's just doing classic Soma things…We call him fearless but others call him arrogant for challenging them at their own game."
"That's because they are immature and insecure. No matter how confident they put themselves up to be, there's always a voice at the back of the head whispering: What if I lose. It is a humiliation that egotistic chefs tend to avoid." Erina answered calmly.
"Hmm~~So you're talking about people like Tomato face~~"
"Hmph… you're selling Eizan short. I bet he has some tricks up his sleeve but let's not bother about that for now." Erina said as she saw Soma bringing the pastry out of the refrigerator.
"That's a tart tin right~~~? Soma's making a tart with tomatoes? That's quite basic for Soma…" Alice could not help but voice out Soma's choice.
'What are you making Soma…?' Erina wondered as even she could not figure out what Soma was making.
Back on stage, Soma was busy pricking the base with a fork and lining the pastry with baking parchment (Baking paper). Then, he filled the pastry with baking beans before throwing it in the oven.
'Now that's done, time to bring out my secret ingredient.' Soma thought as he silently grated it while waiting for the beans to finish baking.
Sparing some time to look at Takumi, Soma saw that he was busy rolling out the pizza dough before placing it in the baking tray. He also saw Takumi garnishing the dough but he could not see what exact ingredients were used.
Similar to Soma, Takumi also used his spare time looking at what Soma was making. He could see Soma sprinkling some kind of cheese on the bottom of the pastry case. Before he could look any further, he was greeted with a smirk from Soma. Frustrated at getting caught, Takumi huffed and removed his attention from him just as Soma finished sprinkling his last set of ingredients on top of the pastry before placing it in the oven.
Now, it was just the waiting game to see whose timer went off first and who will be serving their dishes first.
'Ding!' "It looks like I will be going first Yukihira." Takumi said as he turns off the timer and removed his fresh pizza from the oven for everyone to see.
"Heh~~Set the bar Takumi." Soma replied as Takumi let his pizza cool off for a bit before bringing it up to the judges for their verdict.
"Bon Appetit" Takumi said as he placed a size each for the judges to taste.
"This is Sfincione!" (Sonoka)
Seeing the crowds' lack of knowledge again, Taki clicked her tongue and explain. "Tch…Sfincione or Sicilian pizza is pizza prepared in a manner that originated in Sicily, Italy. It is also known as flat-oven-baked Italian bread with toppings."
"This dish is often topped with onions, anchovies, tomatoes, herbs, and strong cheeses. Other versions do also exist which does not include any cheese~~~" Hinako followed up with extra explanations.
"There are also three variations of this pizza which are Siracusa, Catania, and Messina. It seems like you have gone for the one first variation which focuses more on flavor and ingredients" Leonora commented lastly.
"Judges, let's dig in before it gets cold." Senzaemon said as all the judges gave the standard phrase of Itadakimasu before digging in.
"Within the first bite, I could already tell you grasp the main theme perfectly. The tomatoes produce such a savory taste in combination with the rich umami flavor from the anchovy. It is a great choice to use tomato purée rather than tomato taste as it is less concentrated and could spread more evenly." Leonora said as she has begun 'stripping'
"I did say that this pizza uses strong cheeses and you have indeed chosen to use two kinds of cheese with strong flavor~~I could taste a mild salty taste from the Caciocavallo and the sweet, pleasant, and delicate taste from the Ragusano."
"Two types of Italian cheese made from cow milk. You really are following your nation's tradition to a tee. It's a wonderful Italian representation young boy." Senzaemon praised as his coat disheveled.
"Mmm…what is this slight bitterness that I'm tasting within the pizza…Uuu…I know it…It's on the edge of my tongue…Urm…" Sonoka said as she was having trouble naming the ingredient.
"Tch, it's oregano you boob monster! You obviously don't know anything about herbs since you eat meat every day! Just look at the size of those GRR…" Taki growled.
"Sniff~~You're so mean Taki-senpai…I hate you…" Sonoka said while burying herself onto Hinako bosoms which cause Taki to growled even louder.
"Urm…what about the dish…?" Urara suddenly appeared and asked Taki.
"Hmph! It is an exceptional dish. This is not the full traditional Italian version as the base is crunchier, airier, and thicker. It seems like he incorporated both the United States Version and the Italian Version into this dish." Taki replied.
"Indeed, he made use of another country's version and dyed it with his own Italian colors. This is a magnificent feat that needs to be recognized!" Senzaemon said as the crowd responded by applauding and chanting his name.
"Grazie" Takumi thanked everyone with a smile.
It was all going well for Takumi until a ring resounded and silenced the arena. 'Ding!'
"Yosh! It's finally done! Phew~~I almost thought I was not gonna make it."
Everyone in the stadium stopped as their attention now turned to Soma who was now making his way upstage.
"Yo, sorry for keeping you waiting Takumi. Man, your dish was delicious. A new combination of Italian Pizza? Haha, only you would be able to come up with that. Don't worry, I save for you as well, let's compare it between ourselves just like we used to." Soma said to Takumi before placing his dish to the judges.
It was supposed to be some light-hearted exchanged of words from a rival but to Takumi, it somehow felt like a devil's whisper. Stepping behind to allow himself some space, Takumi looked on at the astonished expressions on the judges.
"This is?!" (Sonoka)
"A normal tomato tarts?!" (Taki)
"You really have gone and done it now Soma-kun…" (Leonora)
"Boy…" (Senzaemon)
"Soma-chan…" Hinako smiled chillingly.
"Oagariyo, this is item 55 from Soma's secret menu." Soma said without concern as he placed a slice each in front of the judges.
"Knowing you, you would have probably hidden some secret ingredients inside of it. Tell me~~~Is it something that will blow my mind~~?" Leonora asked.
"Why don't you find out yourself~~" Soma teased back challengingly.
"Vey well. Itadakimasu…Chomp…"
"…"
"…"
"Urm…Leonora-sama, how does it taste?" Urara asked timidly as Leonora was frozen in place.
"This…SOMA-KUN!" Leonora suddenly stood up which startled everyone.
"Heh~~Don't worry, I got your second serving already placed out." Soma said to the surprise of everyone.
But, when they turn and looked at Leonora's plate, they were shocked beyond words as the first slice was already gone. That could only mean…
"Mmm~~~This dish is devilish enticing~~~The sweet and savoring tomatoes~~~the spicy and nutty pairing of onions and garlic cloves and most importantly the cheese!" Leonora spoke out loud in Perfect Japanese.
"Hoho~~~it seems like you have triggered the second part of Leonora's gifting." Senzaemon laughed out loud.
Seeing the crowds' dumbfounded expression, Senzaemon explained that there are stages to the Nakiri gifting. "There is the explosion, the gift, and the blessing. Only the possessors of the god tongue have access to the third and final stage. For Leonora, her first gift is to praise the dish by explaining every single detail. But, the second stage is where she directly speaks out what her taste buds feel."
"So…does that mean that Yukihira Soma's dish is even better than the dishes you all have tasted so far…" Urara asked hesitantly.
"Indeed! Tarts have always been a mouth sensation to the tongue because it usually comes with a slightly sour taste but the tart he served to us carries a combination of sweetness, spiciness, sourness, nuttiness, and creaminess." Senzaemon praised whole-heartedly.
"He…His perfect utilization of the ingredients shows he has full knowledge of what individual and combine flavor each ingredient brings…His choice of cheese and herb were immaculate…" Taki stuttered as she refused to believe a student has the capabilities to execute a dish to such a degree.
"He has chosen to use Gruyère cheese… Gruyère is classified as a Swiss-type or Alpine cheese and the taste if often varies on the cheese age. He has gone for the younger version which perfectly complements his dish as it is known for its rich, creamy, salty, and nutty flavor." Sonoka explained for her senpai.
"Not only that~~Soma-chan has also make used of another similar ingredient like Takumi-chan which is herb~~You didn't just choose any random herb~~Am I right, Soma-chan~~?" Hinako said as she directed a question at Soma.
"Heh, I never play with food Hinako-senpai." Soma replied immediately but his friends in the crowd and the people who know him have other ideas.
"BULLSHIT!" All of them shouted in reply which cause Soma to unceremoniously fall over.
Picking himself up and awkwardly scratching his cheek, Soma coughed to regain his composure and explain: "Anyway, I knew that if I didn't add rosemary, the other flavors would try and overwhelm each other and would eventually ruin my dish. So, I went with rosemary since it is one of the most aromatic and pungent of all the herbs. With its bold and potent flavor, it serves as an important counterpoint to my other rich and sweet ingredients."
"Tch…didn't take you for someone knowledgeable after seeing you" Taki casually threw a dig at Soma in which he smirk in reply.
"Us chefs have nothing left if we can't succeed in cooking after all."
Satisfied with his reply, Taki stay silent and allow the other judges to give their own verdict.
"Fufu~~~I was just about to twist your head and snap your neck before tasting your dish Soma-chan~~I don't like getting pranked you know~~" Hinako said cheerfully.
"Heh…You have to compete with two others. Those two have full custody of my whole." Soma said as he turns and wave at the two in Erina's box.
Giving them a sly wink, he turned back just in time to lock eye contact with Sonoka.
"Oh~~~You're the one who beat Shinomiya-senpai right?" Sonoka said just out loud for everyone in the arena to hear.
"Oh boy…" It was all Soma was able to mutter out before everyone in the stadium reacted to the news.
Those who knew could only feign ignorant while those who did not were fervently asking one another if it was true. The answer came much easier than expected when Taki boob slap Sonoka yelling at the airhead that the information is supposed to be disclosed.
Deciding to step in, Senzaemon took to the floor and said: "It is indeed true that young Soma has defeated Alumni Shinomiya in a match. But! That is what is expected of Totsuki chefs! Totsuki has no need for those who cover in fear, face your opponents in the eye even if they are your peers! Sharpen your blades if you fail and never decide for yourself that you are unworthy!"
Motivated and touched by the headmaster's word, the crowd decided to put Soma's matter of beating Shinomiya at the back of their head since if he can beat him, why can't I. It may be immature of them to think like that but hey, what work works.
Smiling at the gramps for saving his bacon, Soma turned to Leonora expecting her response but she just gave him a wink and a shush signal. Recognizing that she would want to catch up with him and the girls, Soma nodded at him before looking at the giant screen.
"Winner: Yukihira Soma 5-0!" Urara announced as the screen shows each judge's vote.
"Osomatsu!" Soma said his usual catchphrase after removing his headband.
"Haa…It looks like I lost again Yukihira…you Diablo" Takumi's voice suddenly sounded behind Soma.
"Heh, I have to keep up the image of a worthy older brother after all." Soma replied with a smirk.
"Bastard…Who would have thought losing to you could be fun… Till next time?" Takumi asked.
"Yeah" Soma said as the two bump fist with each other as a promise.
"Hai hai~~~we will now have a short five-minute break before the start of the final match of the first round of the main tournament. Just a friendly reminder that the toilet is on the exit to your right while the beverages will be on your left~~" Urara said as the crowd is left to their own devices.
Calmly leaning against the wall in her waiting room, Hisako thought back to her backstage encounter with Hayama earlier in the day.
"Yo, relate a message for your master for me. Tell her my thanks for keeping a spot in the Elite ten warm for me." Hayama said as the two met by coincidence in the hallway.
"That's quite funny Hayama-san, I seem to remember Erina warning you about believing too much in your talent."
"Hmph…I heed her warning but she can't deny that it is because of her ability that she is where she is now."
"Erina is where she is because of her own hard work. Her ability may give her an edge over others but that's another reason why she needs to work twice as hard compared to others. Erina is not defined by the god's tongue, the god's tongue is defined by Erina." Hisako said with a scowl.
"Hmph…whatever suits you." Hayama said without interest and left.
"Well…that was not a pleasant first encounter…" Hisako muttered after looking back on it.
"Hmm? Is something the matter Onee-sama?" Nao asked as she was accompanying her.
"No…just thinking back that our first encounter was not that pleasant as well hehe." Hisako said while chuckling lightly.
"?"
"I also didn't have the most pleasant experience when meeting Alice and Yukihira for the first time as well. Thinking back on how they would affect my mental image about Erina being perfect was quite idiotic of me."
"Onee-sama…"
"Nao…my world, my perspective really was quite narrow and limited wasn't it…" Hisako said nostalgically.
"I don't know much about the Onee-sama in the past…But, the Onee-sama standing in front of me will always be the gallant and dignified figure that reaches out to me…" Nao replied wholeheartedly.
Caught off guard by Nao's sincerity, Hisako turned her head away from her to hid her embarrassment. However, Nao took this as an opportunity to hug her from behind.
Already used to the clingy girl, Hisako did not overreact and asked gently: "Nao?"
"Hisako Onee-sama will win, I will be here awaiting your return~~"
"You do know you did just raised a flag right…"
"Hehehe…A sobbing Onee-sama that lost isn't all that bad too…"

Before the two can continue their banter, a knock on the door alerted them that it was time for the match. Slowly separating from each other, Nao gave Hisako a bright smile and said: "Good luck Hisako Onee-sama."
"Yeah…Watch me Nao." Hisako replied with her own smile and left the room.
"Welcome back Everyone~~~It is finally time for the final match and it is arguably the closest match-up~~~We have two chefs who have scored the same amount of points in the preliminary rounds and they both hold the highest of reputation~~~Without further ado, let's introduce the both of our contestants." Urara said as she regained her main role as emcee.
"Coming first on stage, we have someone who is dubbed the spice master for his complete mastery over aroma and sense of smell while also being the assistant of the famous Shiomi Jun who herself was part of Totsuki's Golden Generation. We have Hayama Akira!" Urara announced as Hayama walked out from his gate with a stick of cinnamon in his hand as usual.
"And his challenger~~~The one who holds all the reigns of medicinal cooking while also having the privilege of being the first-ever assistant nick pick by the possessor of the god tongue. It's Arato Hisako!" Urara announced as Hisako walked out of her gate and immediately was met with chants of good luck from her friends. Directing her gaze upwards to Erina's box, she saw her giving her a nod while Alice gave her a wink.
"Hmph, quite a crowd cheering for you huh…" Hayama said as they now both stood in the middle facing each other.
"Yeah, could say the same for you."
"I only need one supporter."
"How shallow and fragile…" Hisako said suddenly which cause Hayama to glare at her.
"What was that?"
"Nothing…Remember what I said in the hallway about Erina? Do you have it in yourself to do the same?" Hisako asked and left to her station without bothering to hear a reply.
With the tension now rising to an all-time high, Urara reminded everyone in the arena that the theme is duck before commencing the start of the match.
"You may now begin!"
On cue, both Hisako and Hayama went on with their preparations as the crowd and judges look on intently to find out what they are making.
"One is blessed with an unparalleled sense of smell~~~ while the other is hailed as the master of Zhong Yi or Chinese Medicine~~~" Sonoka spoke first.
"I can see why it's the closest match up on paper~~~Their cooking genre are different but their forte is similar in terms of using spices~~" Hinako followed up.
"Hmm, shouldn't this favor that Hayama kid? When it comes to spices, there's none better than Shiomi Jun and he's the assistant of her." Taki said with a rare ounce of respect.
"I don't think that boy will consult the help of others, he has that feel around him." Leonora said after looking at Hayama.
"This theme will test their creativity and ingenuity. It's common knowledge that duck meat goes well with warm spices such as cinnamon, pepper, Chinese five-spice powder, allspice, and fennel. But, are we going to even see any of it used?" Senzaemon said as the judges once again turned their attention back towards the two.
'Click' "Yo, has the match started already?" Soma asked after arriving at the private box.
"Welcome back Soma~~~I see you made my mother strip~~~What a naughty boy~~~" Alice teased as she gave Soma a hug.
"Good work out there, nice to see that you haven't lost your touch." Erina said with her own 'praise' as she gave Soma a hug as well.
After separating, Soma asked the two about their thoughts on the match and not surprisingly, both share the opinion that Hisako will be the one who will prevail.
"Heh~~~shouldnt this theme fit right up Hayama's alley?" Soma asked.
"Soma, To Hisako, medicinal cuisine is not just about cooking, it's about understanding the principle and concept about it." Erina replied.
"Principle? Is it just about using food that gives health benefits?" Soma asked curiously.
"Nono~~~The fundamental of Chinese medicinal cuisine is to balance the qi and the body fluids~~~While diseases and physical injuries would disrupt the balance, there is also a third factor that causes them to go off balance~~" Alice replied as she shows her knowledge again.
"As Alice explained, Chinese medicinal cuisine revolves around balancing the yin and yang. Thus, the environment may also disrupt the balance. For instance, cold weather causes a lack of qi or high yin in the body while hot weather has too much yang and requires high yin foods to be eaten." Erina followed up with an explanation of her own.

"They may be the case if they both use the whole duck but~~~Hishoko is different~~~" Alice pointed out as Soma look down and saw Hisako bringing out a pot filled with red jelly.
"That's blood…Duck blood…" Soma said astounded.
"She coagulated it overnight while everyone was sleeping." Erina said as she shudders in remembering the ecstatic expression on Nao's face when she saw Hisako covered in blood.
"Hmm~~~it looks like Hayama is not done just yet~~~" Alice said as the trio leaned in and saw Hayama bringing out his own weapon which is a jar of green seeds?
Back on stage, the crowd was wondering what on earth were the two creating as one was using blood while the other was using green seeds. But, the judges were the wiser and could not help praising the two.
"Incredible~~they both are still sticking to their roots of using spices~~And they are using spices we have not even mention at all~~" Hinako said excitingly.
"Father, I could only see one winner." Leonora whispered to Senzaemon after watching the final stages of the two's cooking.
"Let's not act too hasty. While I'm confident someone of that caliber would not mess up, they have indeed chosen a far riskier strategy than the other." Senzaemon said with his eyes shut.
Before Taki and Sonoka could ask any questions, their senses were immediately captured by the smell coming off from Hayama's direction.
"It's done." Hayama calmly said as he removed his dish from the oven.
"The aroma is unbearable! It's stinging me right in the stomach!" The crowd immediately reacted as the sheer smell of the dish brought them to their knees.
"It looks like I will be the one who will deal the first blow in this battle of the world of flavors." Hayama said as he passed by Hisako who just merely watched in response.
"Sorry for the wait." Hayama said as he placed his finished dish in front of the judges'.
"A whole duck covered in spices!" Sonoka said excitingly as she can't wait to dig in.
"These duck meats…are they covered in what I think it is…?" Taki asked as she looked at Hayama for an answer.
"Yeah, they are covered in exactly what you think it is." Hayama replied as the judges immediately dug in after hearing his reply.
After a minute of silence, Urara lean in and asked the judges about their opinion. "Ano…is this duck meat covered with mere spices good?"
"Mere spices?" Taki said with a low voice.
"Hai?" (Urara)
"This is not mere spices you idiot!" Taki bursts out as Urara fell onto her butt.
"Zaatar, the name of a spice mixture that includes the herb along with toasted sesame seeds, dried sumac, often salt, as well as other spices. This dish included the use of ground cinnamon, black sesame seeds, sumac, cumin seeds, fresh thyme leaves, salt, and freshly ground black pepper." Leonora said as her gifting started but it did not go past the first stage to Hayama's disappointment.
"The duck has a delicious taste that's tender, moist, and fatty~~~Combine with the nutty and toasty taste of the Zaatar~~~It captivates the people's appetite and make them explode~~~" Hinako said as she submerged herself into the dish.
"A dish that takes inspiration from the Middle East counties- Lebanon to be precise~~~ The mellow, earthy spice of zaatar works so well with the slight gamey quality of duck~~~The duck cooking time is low and slow thus leaving it soft and juicy. By adding in the sharp sweetness of a lemon, it gives it a further level of flavor and sends this dish into a league of its own~~~" Sonoka praised as an avid meat lover.
"A talent that could not be bound by any limitations, A talent that controls the people's appetite as his cooking. Hayama Akira! You have the potential to reach the god's tongue!" Senzaemon praised as his coat disrobe while the crowd too erupted with applause from the highest degree of praise a chef could ever hope to have.
"Jun, our combination is unbeatable. Changing the world of flavors using the power of aromas could only be done by the two of us." Hayama softly mutters as he thought back to his past.
Hayama POV
A world where I know nothing about myself, a place without anything to live by, a child who was abandoned by his parents. That was who I was.
"Ano…you were the one who helped me back then right?"
You don't have to respond, she will just leave you alone after thanking you. You don't have to look up, she will just find you dirty and tossed you aside like the others. You don't have to do anything…So why…Why is my head not responding?
"Ah! You finally look up. I wanted to thank you for helping me back then. I didn't expect they would be scammers here. By the way, my name is Shiomi Jun, what is your name?"
Name? What is that? It's the representation and identity of who someone is. Me? I don't have one. Who am I? What am I? Why am I looking eagerly at you hoping that you would find the answer for me?

I tried to add in another ingredient because my sense told me so but the result was me changing the whole substance. I could only run and hid after she saw me. Now, I will be going back to my old life. Hayama? That name is not me.
"Hayama-kun! I finally found you! Don't worry me like that! I saw you running out of my room suddenly and thought you were sick. You can tell me anything! This is our home! This is your home! We're a family are we not?!"

A voice suddenly said beside Hayama and snap him out of his thoughts.

"Here's a small lesson free of charge, the aroma may arouse the customers' appetite, but the quality of the food is what cures their hunger and fulfills their appetite." Hisako said as she bypasses Hayama and placed her dish to the judges.

"Hmm~~~This is duck paired with soup?" (Sonoka)

"Wait…there are noodles underneath it!" (Hinako)
"This is Duck blood and vermicelli soup correct?" (Leonora)
"Yes. This is my take on that dish." (Hisako)
"Judges, let's dig…" (Senzaemon)
"Um, pardon me. This is not yet the final product." Hisako stopped Senzaemon as she brought out another plate filled with duck.
"Please enjoy the soup first become adding this piece of meat."
"A cheeky trick learned from young Soma I presume?" Senzaemon asked as Hisako just softly smile in reply.

Learning from her experience, Urara did not judge the dish herself and calmly waited for the judges to digest the food first before asking the question.
After about a minute, Sonoka was the first to show reaction as she was greedily slurping the noodles.
"Slurp~~~The taste is so light, aromatic and smooth~~~The duck broth/soup is so addictive that I could drink another bowl of it~~ The vermicelli noodles are so silky and tender~~it gently cracked under the pressure of the tongue and it tastes so sweet~~~"
"The most commendable I find in this dish is that the duck intestines are not chewy in any way shape or form, in fact, it is quite tender." Taki said next.
"A tender duck intestine? I thought duck intestines are supposed to be like rubber…" Urara can't help but ask the question on everyone's mind.
"Tch…The preparation process for the duck intestine is time-consuming, a lot of work needs to be done to ensure it gets tender. Normally it requires long cooking hours but you chose a different method." Taki said as she looks at Hisako for answers.
"Yes, I used spices and herbs. More than Twenty Chinese herbal medicines to be exact." Hisako revealed to the shock of the crowd.
"Don't ask all the questions Taki-chan~~~I want to talk about the duck gizzards and the duck livers as well~~~" Hinako whined as she pestered Taki for her chance.
Relenting the mic to her senpai, Hinako began talking about the two other parts of the duck. "Yay~~ The duck gizzards have such a silky and yielding texture that the rich flavor just flows through the mouth~~~ The duck liver is salty and elastic~~~It may not be the famous Foie gras but the flavors just dances in your mouth~~"
After Hinako's comment, there was a brief silence and everyone in the arena turned to the two Nakiris who have yet to spoke a word since taking their first bite. Fearing the worst for Hisako as Senzaemon's coat was still on and Leonora have not even talked once, they have completely forgotten the fact that there was an added twist to the dish.
"It's almost time." Hisako muttered as she saw the two Nakiris took a piece from her second plate and place it into their mouths.
"Mmm?! The duck is so delicious and tender~~~It is so savoury~~~Its not overly salty and its meat, including the breast, is thoroughly packed with the aroma of spices~~~" Leonora said as she was the first to give a reaction.
"…Oi…wasn't that the same reaction she gave Yukihira Soma…? The gifting…?" Someone in the crowd said as they saw the resemblance in reaction.
With the crowd heating up again, Senzaemon increased their tension as his coat exploded and leaving himself bare for everyone to see.
"Sichuan peppercorns, star anise, cinnamon, and most importantly the Osmanthus wine! Unlike many other flower petals that are bitter to the taste, Osmanthus petals have a unique flavor that is only slightly bitter and very mildly sweet. The wine you added into the broth tastes mellow and sweet and the petals you added to the side give the whole dish an aromatic fragrance that does not pale to Hayama Akira's!" Senzaemon praised which left Hayama speechless.
"There's a saying among Nanjing residents that says 'No duck can leave Nanjing alive'. Almost every part of a duck can be cooked. Duck blood, Duck liver, Duck Bone, Duck Gizzard, Duck intestines, Duck meat, and Duck breast. There's no way that I will lose to someone who only uses one part of the theme" Hisako said as she saw the dumbfounded expression on Hayama's face.
"Winner…"
"Just a final parting word Hayama-kun, you have the potential to reach the god's tongue but I'm already beside her and have set my sights beyond her. Our view is completely different."
"Arato Hisako!"
Phew~~Finally done. Does this count as a cliffhanger~~? Don't hurt me~~. Hmm~~ Seems like I havent gave a foreshadowing in a while so why not eh~~~

So~~How was that~~ I believe many of use will get who they are but I'm still interested to seeing what you all think~~ I have already planned for the semi-final matches are and they will be many surprises next chapter since it's chapter 20 after all~~
PS: I think it's safe to say I'll change it to a monthly update schedule since my semester will start on the 18th and I have my project to do. Again...sorry for the late updates and I will try my best to not drag more than one month and a week after the last update.
