Soifon was seated on the hospital bed, engrossed in her book, while Erin engaged in a conversation with Voight regarding the case, and Kelly had left a few hours ago leaving the two women alone. The raven-haired woman let out a sigh, reflecting on how they would have been out there assisting if it weren't for her being wounded.
"Are you currently on your way to retrieve Xavier?" Erin queried Voight. Pacing the hospital room, her green eyes focused on the floor, she anxiously awaited his response. "Yes, we are," Voight replied from the other end.
"I wish we could be there to support you," Erin whispered, stealing a glance at Soifon who glanced up from her book. "Don't worry about it, Erin. Soifon has been injured, and furthermore, you are pregnant," Voight assured her with gentleness.
"I understand, but I still feel like I could contribute," Erin remarked. She knew she should be aiding, especially since she desired to bring Xavier down, but she acknowledged the sergeant's sound advice. "I know, but currently, you are fulfilling your role," Voight reminded her.
Erin couldn't help but ponder over Voight's words. "Your responsibility is to ensure your own safety as well as the baby's, and you are also ensuring that Soifon refrains from taking any action until she recovers."
Erin couldn't suppress a chuckle at Voight's words. She conceded, 'You are correct, and accomplishing that will not be an easy task. So, comparatively, you guys have it easier.' This remark made Voight laugh a bit, and he added, 'And besides, we will manage just fine.'"
"Voight announced, 'Anyway, I must conclude our conversation as we are approaching the address.' Erin nodded and ended the call. 'Alright, keep us updated,' she said before the line went silent."
"Soifon glanced at her partner and asked, 'What were the two of you discussing over there?' Erin turned towards Soifon and grinned. 'Honestly, just discussing the case,' Erin said with a smile as she walked over to Soifon's bedside after storing her phone in her pocket."
"Ah, how is the progress on the case?' Soifon inquired, setting her book aside as Erin sat at the edge of the bed. Erin replied, 'They are almost at the address, so I assume they will apprehend Xavier soon,' as she delicately brushed a strand of hair from Soifon's face.
Soifon smiled as Erin ran her fingers through her hair," That is satisfactory," she said quietly, leaning her face into her lover's hand. "In any case, when can we depart from this place?" Soifon inquired, expressing her readiness to return home and rest in their own bed while being held in Erin's arms.
"I don't know when we can leave, but I would prefer not to engage in any unauthorized activity that could lead to trouble," Erin responded with a chuckle. She understood that Soifon desired to leave, just as she did, but they had to wait for the approval of Will before they could venture outside.
Soifon let out a sigh. "I suppose you are correct, but I certainly prefer resting in our own bed rather than on this uncomfortable hospital bed," she stated while gently tapping the railing. The brunette chuckled and agreed, "I feel the same way."
As if on cue, Will walked in and observed Soifon and Erin kissing. "Alright, you two, save that affection for when you are at home," he teased, approaching them with a clipboard in hand. Both women pulled away from each other and looked at him. "Oh, stop your jesting," Erin responded with a grin.
Will emitted a chuckle as he approached them. 'Is it time to depart from this place?' Soifon inquired, her expression filled with hope as she glanced at Will. 'You know, it wouldn't be so terrible to stay a few more days,' Will stated, wanting to persuade the raven-haired woman to reconsider leaving the hospital early. However, he understood that he could not compel her to stay.
Soifon simply nodded. 'I am absolutely certain that I do not wish to stay another day. I believe I will rest more comfortably at home,' she declared, smiling at Will.
'Besides, I won't be capable of doing much anyway. Erin will ensure of it,' she added, chuckling. Erin grinned at Soifon and affirmed, 'And if necessary, I will restrain you to the bed.' The brunette playfully teased.
The humor shared by all three of them resulted in laughter. 'Alright, you may depart, but do so with caution. We do not want your stitches to open, and I wish to prevent you from straining your stomach,' Will advised, handing Soifon the clipboard for her to sign the discharge papers.
Soifon took the clipboard from Will and proceeded to sign the discharged paper. She then handed it back to the doctor, expressing, 'Alright, the two of us are cleared to leave.' Will, in turn, handed Soifon a few small papers, stating, 'Here, take these and retrieve them from a pharmacy.'
Soifon graciously replied to Will, 'Thank you for your assistance' as she accepted the papers and delicately folded them, placing them on the table. As she needed to change into her clothes, she simply set them aside. Will nodded and exited the room, humorously cautioning, 'Make sure to stay out of trouble, you two.' Erin responded with a mischievous grin, playfully questioning, 'Who, us? We never get into trouble.'
Will concluded, 'In any case, do not hesitate to call or visit if you require anything, or if there are any changes.' He then departed, leaving Soifon and Erin alone in the room. Both watched as he closed the door behind him. Soifon proceeded to change out of her hospital gown and into a pair of blue jeans and a black tank top.
"Well, we have a brief pause before we return to our residence," Erin remarked as she collected their bag from the chair and assisted Soifon in fastening her boots due to her limited mobility. "You know, I could become accustomed to this," she said jokingly, causing Soifon to roll her eyes and laugh.
"I'm certain you will," Erin replied after finishing tying Soifon's boots. "Although, you'll have to help me with mine once my size increases," she added with a smile.
Soifon smiled back as she put on her jacket. "I wouldn't mind," she replied, holding Erin's hand and intertwining their fingers. "Now, are you ready to go?" Erin asked cheerfully.
"Yes, let's depart from this confinement," Soifon responded with a smile, prompting her lover to laugh. "This is hardly a prison," Erin commented. "True, but it certainly feels like it," Soifon said nonchalantly.
The two women exited the room and proceeded down the hallway. "Would you like to stop somewhere and have a meal before we make our way home?" Erin inquired.
Soifon nodded affirmatively with a smile. "Certainly, I am feeling hungry and the hospital food is not helpful," she stated as the two women walked outside into the chilly air. Erin agreed with a smile, expressing her agreement.
Erin guided Soifon to her car, informing her of her plan to inform Voight and the others that they were leaving. "Antonio and Ashley have been concerned since the shooting," Erin informed Soifon, who nodded in comprehension.
Ashley blames herself for not recognizing Xavier's association and we all blame ourselves for not being more vigilant," the brunette stated with a frown as she assisted Soifon in settling into the passenger seat.
"It is not anyone's fault for the shooting. We were all enjoying ourselves and did not anticipate being shot at," Soifon commented as she sat down and fastened her seatbelt. Erin got into the driver's seat.
"True, but at least Voight and the others will apprehend Xavier and he will be imprisoned indefinitely," Erin stated, aware of Voight's intentions regarding their suspect, although she did not want to alarm Soifon, as her partner was not aware of the cage.
Soifon expressed her agreement with a nod, stating, 'I hope he receives the appropriate punishment.' She proceeded to turn on the radio. 'Anyway, let us go to the nearby Ride Aid and grab some food while we wait for the prescriptions to be filled,' she suggested while holding the prescriptions provided by Will.
Erin acknowledged Soifon's agreement with a nod as well, and inquired, 'What would you like to eat?' As she maneuvered out of the hospital's parking lot, Soifon replied, 'Anything, even a hamburger, sounds appealing right now. I'm quite famished and would consume any type of meat.' Despite not being particularly fond of meat, she was willing to eat anything due to her hunger.
With a chuckle, Erin nodded in response, 'Very well, once we submit your prescriptions, we can make a stop at Burger King.' She then proceeded to drive them to the nearest Ride Aid.
