Elena was annoyed as hell as she sat on the phone with Klaus, and the day had just begun. He'd called to inform her that his mother wanted her to join them for dinner. "Have you completely lost your mind?"

"This wasn't exactly my idea, love. My mother watched you kiss me, and now she thinks we're a couple," Klaus said.

"So set her straight. We don't date. We have sex," Elena said.

"I told her we're not serious. She still wants to have dinner. And this is your fault anyway. You're the one that kissed me in front of her. Plus, it was your idiotic friends who opened the bloody coffin," Klaus said in an irritated tone.

"So, make them go to dinner with your mother," Elena said annoyed. Once again, her friends' stupidity was having unforeseen affects on her life.

"Come on, It's one meal. Plus, you can flaunt this thing we have in front of my sister again," Klaus told her.

Elena sighed. That was a little tempting, but it wasn't really worth having to deal with Klaus' mother, who had tried to kill her not that long ago. Still, she wasn't sure she was going to get out of this.

Before anything else could be said, Elena heard a knock at the door. She suddenly got the feeling her day was about to get more irritating. She could only think of one reason for someone to be knocking this early in the morning. Her friends were there to whine about the change in her sex life.

"Come on, Elena. I helped you with your revenge last night. You can do this for me," Klaus said.

"Oh, please. You and I both know that was for you as much as it was for me," Elena said before going to answer the door. Unsurprisingly, she found Bonnie, Damon, and Caroline on the other side. "Fine, I'll go. If for no other reason than to piss your sister off."

"Excellent! I'll pick you up at six," he said.

Elena hung up the phone and glared at her friends. Well, she glared at Damon and Bonnie. Caroline had had no part in what happened. "I have to have dinner with Klaus' resurrected mother because you two couldn't leave well enough alone. Thanks for that."

"Like it's our fault. We didn't know you'd be stupid enough to date Klaus," Damon said before forcing his way inside. Bonnie and Caroline were right behind him.

Elena laughed as she shut the door. She would be insulted if it weren't for the sheer ridiculousness of Damon's words. Like he had any business calling anyone stupid. "Did you really just call me stupid? You just helped open up a coffin for some kind of weapon without any idea of what it could be. How's that weapon working out for you, Damon?"

Damon scowled. "Like we knew Klaus was holding his mommy in there. We had no way of knowing who or what was inside."

"Yes, that was my point. That was the stupid part," Elena said.

"It's true then? You're dating, Klaus?" Bonnie asked in disbelief. She had been sure Damon must have been jumping to conclusions or something. Elena would never do something like that. However, she didn't deny it when Damon called her it. Plus, she had been talking to Klaus when they first arrived. She was planning to have dinner with him and his family.

"No, I'm having sex with Klaus," Elena clarified.

"How'd they find out?" Caroline asked. Bonnie had called and asked her to meet them at Elena's, but she hadn't told her what it was about. She had only said that Elena needed their help.

"I had dinner with Klaus, Elijah, Damon, and Stefen last night," Elena said with a smirk.

"Ah, so you put on a show," Caroline surmised.

"Caroline, you knew about this? How could you not tell me?" Bonnie asked in disbelief.

"Because it wasn't my business to tell. It was up to Elena if she wanted you to know who she was sleeping with," Caroline said.

Bonnie looked at Elena with hurt in her eyes. "Why would you tell her and not me?"

"This is why?" Elena said as used her hands to indicate the situation they were in right now. "I knew that Caroline would not judge me, and that you would."

"Maybe that should tell you how wrong it is. How could you, Elena?" Damon asked.

Elena glared at him. She was not about to let him make himself a victim in this. "Don't even try it, Damon. Do not act like I betrayed you. You and I are not a couple. We were never a couple. I have been clear with you since day one that I was not interested in that with you. Who I sleep with is none of your concern."

"It is when it's Klaus. How could you be with him after everything he did to us?" Damon asked.

Elena raised an eyebrow. "Us? No, you don't get to use that. There is no 'us'. What Klaus did, he did to me and my family. You don't get to make yourselves a part of it."

"The hell we don't! We put everything on the line to protect you from Klaus. Being with him is a slap in the face to that," Bonnie said.

Elena glared fiercely at her friend. "And nobody asked you to do that! In fact, it was the opposite! I wanted you to stay out of it! I had the whole thing handled, but you all had to get involved! Don't you dare throw it in my face now!"

"We were protecting you. It's what friends do," Bonnie said.

"Yeah? Do friends also shove it in your face after the fact to make you feel bad about it?" Elena asked.

"When you act this stupid, yeah," Damon said.

"There you go calling people stupid again, Damon. It's kind of hilarious given the fact that it's typically your idiocy that causes most of my problems. You want the truth? For the most part, my life got better when I stopped participating in your asinine plans and turned to Klaus. Well, there was this whole coffin business, but that was because of you guys," Elena said.

"Elena, how can you be saying all of these things? I'm starting to worry about you. You're not yourself," Bonnie said.

"And cue the 'Elena must be compelled' thing. You want to know what happened, Bonnie? You wanna know why I'm saying these things? Your partner in crime in this whole fiasco tried to pull me off of a bridge! I had an epiphany, not just about Stefan, but about all of it. I have been a fool! I let you all put me into these situations that only end horribly," Elena said.

"Elena, that's not true. All we've ever tried to do was help you. Even what Stefan did was a necessary evil to stop Klaus," Bonnie said. She hadn't been happy to find out what Stefan did, but she grudgingly understood it. His methods were questionable, but the effect was worth it. Klaus got rid of his hybrids. Stefan had leverage on Klaus.

"Bonnie, how can you defend what he did to her? eHhhhhhhhhhHe almost killed her. She would've been a vampire if he'd gotten his way," Caroline said in disbelief.

"I'm not defending it, Caroline, but I understand it. It wasn't right, but it worked. Plus, he wouldn't have really done it. It was just a scare tactic," Bonnie said.

"Get out," Elena said coldly.

"What?" Bonnie asked caught off guard.

"Get the hell out of my house. You will not stand here and judge my sex life while defending the man who tried to kill me," Elena said.

"Elena, you are sleeping with the man who actually did kill you," Bonnie pointed out.

"And that's my prerogative, not yours. Leave," Elena ordered.

"Or what? Are you going to call your new boyfriend to throw us out?" Damon asked with a sneer.

"It's an idea," Elena shot back without missing a beat.

"You two need to leave," Caroline said.

"Caroline, you can't possibly be okay with all of this," Bonnie said.

"Bonnie, go," Caroline said forcefully.

Reluctantly, Bonnie headed back out the front door.

Damon glared before following her.

"Are you okay?" Caroline asked Elena once the others were gone.

"Yeah, I'm just pissed. Look, Care, I don't want things to be awkward for you, but I'm done letting others make choices for me or judge my choices. If Bonnie can't accept me for who I am, I'm going to have to cut her out of my life," Elena said.

"I hope it doesn't come to that, but I have your back either way," Caroline promised.

"Thanks. Ugh, I knew this day was going to suck from the moment I got up. To top it off, I have to go have dinner with Klaus' mother," Elena grumbled.

Caroline laughed. "Klaus' mom wants to make sure you're good enough for him."

"This is not funny!" Elena protested.

Caroline disagreed. She couldn't stop laughing. "Yeah, it is, because Klaus is ruthless Hybrid, but his mom wants to make sure you treat him well. It's hilarious because it's so normal. It's also something you've never had to deal with before. Stefan didn't have a mom for you to meet this way and Matt's mom was a disaster who barely cared about him."

"Stop talking about this like Klaus is my boyfriend. He's not my boyfriend. He's somebody I have sex with from time to time," Elena said.

"You had dinner with him last night, you're having dinner with him tonight. I'm pretty sure he's your boyfriend," Caroline said in an amused tone.

"I'm going to kill you," Elena said with a glare.

Caroline only laughed harder.
