Hot. Extra Hot. Aye Chihuahua!
It was another day at Duel Academy, and many students were doing their own thing. Particularly, Angie and Pele were hanging out together in the card shop, looking over a few cards they had placed on the table.
"So, what do you think of this one?" Angie asked, pointing at one of the cards.
Pele looked at it for a moment before grabbing another card. "I think it would work well with this one."
Angie stared at it for a moment before grinning a bit. "Neat!" She then held up another card. "And I bet you'd have some blast by adding this card to that one." She pointed to another card on the table.
Pele looked at them. "You think so?"
"Of course I do! With the way you burn your opponent's life points, this combo sure will be spicy!"
Unbeknownst them, someone was eavesdropping on their conversation, hiding behind a shelf. An Obelisk Blue girl, from the looks of it of her uniform. The girl scoffed at their words. "Spicy? Hmph! My deck is far better than that."
"By the way, did you notice that necklace Jenny was wearing?" Angie asked.
"The one that looks like a heart? Yeah, I've seen it." Pele replied.
Angie smiled slyly. "Well apparently, that was a gift from my cousin. An anniversary of sorts. Jenny sure is lucky to have him as a boyfriend."
The girl eavesdropping them growled. "Jenny. That good for nothing..." She stopped when she realized what Angie said. "Wait! Cousin? Does that mean...?"
"You haven't been trying to do something crazy like watching over them while they date, have you?" Pele asked.
"What? Heck no!" Angie replied. "I know better than that. Jenny's cool. Anyway..." Angie gathered up her cards. "I think I'm done."
"Same here." Pele gathered her own cards. At that, the two of them left.
The girl who eavesdropped on them chose that moment to step away from her hiding spot. She had long black hair with a bang that covered the left side of her face and grey eyes. And she had a sly look. "Soo, she's my adorable Andrew's cousin, eh. Then she might be the key to get him dump that bimbo, Jenny, and start dating me."
Later on, somewhere else, Jenny, Alexis, Jasmine and Mindy were walking through the hallways of the Academy building and chatted with each other.
"Did you see that guy who passed by the beach earlier?" Jasmine asked. "Carrying that surfboard, heading to the water?"
"Sure did." Mindy replied with a dreamy look. "He was, like, a total hottie!"
"I know, right?" Jasmine agreed.
Alexis and Jenny simply ignored their conversation as the blonde noticed the necklace around her friend's neck. "I like your new necklace."
Jenny smiled. "Thanks. Andrew gave it to me. As an anniversary gift."
"Did you say anniversary?" Jasmine asked as she and Mindy had their attention drawn to her words.
"Oooh! Now this I gotta hear!" Mindy added. "Wait, let me guess... It's when the two you started dating, right?"
Jasmine raised an eyebrow. "You're saying that they started dating this time of the year, one year prior? Nah, I remember them becoming a couple later than that."
That made Mindy look thoughtful. "Oh right, that's true."
Jenny sighed at this but was startled as the two of them leaned closer.
"So, what kind of anniversary was it?" Mindy asked.
"Yeah, tell us!" Jasmine pressured.
Jenny got annoyed and pushed them away. "Personal space, please?!"
Alexis sweatdropped at the scene. "For once, those two should be focusing on something more important than dating."
Meanwhile, Angie was walking around the campus, humming a bit as she reached the beach. She took a deep breath while stretching her arms. "Now, this is nice weather! What to do?"
"Hello there!"
Angie blinked before turning around. She came face to face with an Obelisk Blue girl with long black hair covering the left half of her face. The girl approached her with a sweet smile. "I'm sorry to bother you, but are you by any chance Angie Mihaylov?"
Angie blinked again. "That would be me. And you are...?"
"Tracey Medina. I'm a good friend of your cousin, Andrew Wilson. He told me so much about you."
Angie gave her a suspicious look. "Is that so?"
"Sure is! After hearing about you, I just had to meet you. Mostly because I need your help with something."
"And that is...?"
Tracey placed a hand on her cheek as she blushed. "Well you see, I always had a crush on your cousin. He's such a cute and charming guy that I can't get him out of my head. I really want to make him know that he and I are meant to each other." She then let out a sad sigh. "But, his eyes are focused on someone else. A horrible girl named Jenny Siegrain!"
Angie raised and eyebrow.
Tracey held up her right hand and clenched it. "Jenny may act as a sweet person. But deep down, she's a jerk. She's just getting close to Andrew so she could take his Duel Monster cards and sell them. She doesn't care about Andrew's feelings. Just his rarest cards. And worst of all, no one else can see her true colors!" She then grabbed Angie shoulders. "Which is why you must help me! You're his cousin. You gotta help him see the truth. Help him realize that Jenny doesn't love him. Please, help me help Andrew!"
Angie stared at Tracey's pleading face for a short while, though it felt like forever. She then closed her eyes and smiled. "Sure, I understand!"
Tracey beamed and put her hands together. "Oh, thank you so...!"
"I understand that this is another one of your creepy schemes." Angie said bluntly.
"Eh?" Tracey gave her a startled look.
"Andrew and Clover already told me about you. They told me that you're an annoying stalker trying to force my cousin to be your boyfriend."
Tracey gasped, aghast at her statement.
"So, no deal for you I'm afraid. Bye-bye!" Angie waved her off and started to walk away.
But she didn't get far as Tracey grabbed her arm and stopped her. And she didn't look happy. "And here I was trying to be nice with you, hoping that you could convince Andrew that I am the right girl for him."
Angie scoffed. "Please, like anything about you and your creepiness screams nice."
That made Tracey lose her temper and knock Angie down on the ground. "That's it! I'm so gonna..."
"Hey!"
They paused and turned to see Pele, who rushed over to them and pushed Tracey away. She then helped Angie up. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, peachy." Angie replied.
Tracey recovered and glared. "Why you..." She then paused when she got a look on the culprit. "Wait a minute, aren't you Pele Ricci?"
"And what if I am?" Pele asked with a hint of anger in her voice as she glared at the stalker.
Tracey scoffed. "Nothing. I just didn't expect to run into some loser who's stealing my burn damage strategies."
Pele gave her an incredulous look. "Me? Stealing your strategies? That's ridiculous!"
"Big time!" Angie added. "Like you would be a burn damage expert."
"I'll have you know that I'm the best one there is. No way someone like you is better than me!"
"Then how about you prove it?" Pele asked.
Tracey raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"
"You and I duel. Right here and now. Then we'll see who the best burner duelist is."
Tracey stared at her for a moment before a sly look was formed on her face. "Very well. But I have one condition. If I win..." She paused and pointed a finger to Angie. "You have to make Andrew go out with me."
"What?!" Pele and Angie exclaimed.
"You heard me right." Tracey said with a smug look. "You can either accept that, or you can just walk away like a coward and accept that I am the best."
Now Angie looked angry. There was no way she would let this stalker get away with this. "Pele..." She said, getting her friend's attention. "Take her down!"
Pele looked concerned. "Are you sure?"
Angie gave her a smile. "I trust you, girlie. So go ahead and give this nutcase the burn!"
Pele stared at her for a moment before smiling back. "Alright then." She turned to Tracey. "Let's do this."
Tracey smirked at this.
Moments later, the two of them took their positions with Angie watching from the sidelines. They activated their duel disks and drew their opening hands.
"GAME ON!"
Pele: 4000
Tracey: 4000
"I'll go first!" Tracey said, drawing her sixth card. "And I activate the spell card Dark Room of Nightmare!" A spell card appeared on her field. "Due to its effect, every effect damage you'll take will make this card deal an additional 300 points of damage."
Angie widened her eyes. "Whoa! She's not wasting time."
"You got that right." Tracey smirked and revealed another card from her hand. "Then I activate the spell card, Goblin Thief! With this, I can deal 500 points of damage to you. After that, I gain 500 extra life points."
Pele winced as a red aura enveloped her, while Tracey looked smug with a blue aura enveloping her.
Pele: 4000-3500
Tracey: 4000-4500
"And now for the effect of my Dark Room of Nightmare!" The named spell card fired an energy beam and blasted Pele.
Pele: 3500-3200
"Now I place one card facedown and summon Atomic Firefly in defense mode!" A facedown card appeared near Tracey's feet, followed by a mechanical insect. It had a glowing butt and the black and yellow symbol for radioactivity on its back. (ATK: 100 DEF: 200 LV: 1) "And that's all."
"My turn then." Pele drew her sixth card. "First I activate the field spell, Molten Destruction." At that moment, the scenery changed into a landscape with a few streams of magma flowing down from a nearby mountain.
"Whoa! Way to spice things up." Angie commented with a grin.
"Hey! What just happened?"
Angie blinked before turning around to see Alexis, Jenny, Jasmine and Mindy standing nearby. They seemed startled, Jasmine and Mindy more than the other two.
"What happened to the beach?" Jasmine wondered.
"Did the volcano, like, get an eruption or something?" Mindy wondered.
"Hi there!" Angie greeted, getting their attention.
"Angie? What's up?" Jenny asked.
Angie scoffed in response. "I'll tell you what's up. A stalking nutcase is causing us trouble. Look."
The girls followed her finger and saw the ongoing duel between Pele and Tracey.
Alexis frowned when she noticed Pele's opponent. "Tracey? What's she doing here."
"Well, for starters, that weirdo tried to make me think that Jenny was getting close to Andrew just to get her hands on his cards."
That made Jenny scowl. "Oh really?"
"Yeah, really. Just another one of her creepy 'Make Andrew her boyfriend' schemes."
Jasmine scoffed. "Now that's so wrong."
"Yeah. She just never learns." Mindy agreed. "That's just so lame, even for that stalker."
"HEY! I can hear you, you know!" Tracey roared in anger.
"You should be focused on me." Pele said. "With Molten Destruction in play, all fire monsters gain 500 points while losing 400 defense points. And next I summon Fire Princess in attack mode!" A woman clad in baggy red robes appeared, wielding a smoothly hewn wooden staff. (ATK: 1300-1800 DEF: 1500-1100 LV: 4) "Now attack her Atomic Firefly!" From the tip of her staff, the woman threw a fireball that blew the insect up.
Tracey grinned. "You just triggered my Firefly's effect. After it's destroyed in battle, the player who destroyed it takes 1000 points of damage."
An explosion occurred under Pele's feet, making her yelp.
Pele: 3200-2200
"And don't forget, my Dark Room card deals another 300 points of damage!"
Pele winced as a red aura enveloped her.
Pele: 2200-1900
She then inserted a card into her duel disk, making a spell card appear. "I activate the spell card, Cauldron of the Old Man. When this card is activated, it gets a counter." The spell card glowed briefly. "And I can activate one of its 2 effects once per turn. And I choose effect number 1. I gain 500 life points for every counter it has." At that, the spell card glowed again as a blue aura enveloped Pele.
Pele: 1900-2400
"And this activates Fire Princess' effect. Every time I gain life points, you take 500 points of damage." The woman threw another fireball at Tracey, who cried out as it burned her.
Tracey: 4500-4000
The stalker recovered and scoffed. "That was nothing. Don't think you can win by using my strategies."
"Come again?" Jenny blinked.
"Oh right. That weirdo accused Pele for stealing her burn damage strategies." Angie explained. "Crazy, right?"
"You tell me." Alexis snorted.
"I end my turn with two facedowns." Pele concluded and inserted two cards into her duel disk.
Tracey drew her next card. "First I activate the spell card, Contingency Fee! With this, you get to draw until you hold six cards in your hand, and I gain 1000 life points for each card you draw." Since Pele had 1 card in her hand, she drew 5 cards.
Tracey: 4000-9000
"And with that, I can finish you off, using this!" Tracey grinned and revealed her facedown card. "Secret Barrel! This trap card deals 200 points of damage for every card in your hand and on your field!"
Angie and the other girls gasped.
"So that's why she made Pele draw extra cards. To cause more damage!" Angie replied.
"6 cards in her hand, and 5 cards on her field. That's 11." Jenny counted. "Which makes 2200 points of damage!"
"Plus 300 from Dark Room of Nightmare." Alexis added. "And that's..."
"Just enough to wipe you out!" Tracey declared. "Now fire!" The trap card fired an energy beam.
"Activate trap!" Pele said as one of her facedown cards flipped up and absorbed the energy.
"What?!" Tracey exclaimed at this.
And then, green light particles came out of the back of the card before they entered Pele's body.
Pele: 2400-4600
"Hold on! What did you do?!" Tracey demanded.
"I activated the trap card, Energy-Absorbing Monolith." Pele explained. "By chaining this card to your card effect that would have caused me damage, I can negate the damage and turn it into life point gain instead.
"Now that's impressive." Alexis commented with a smile.
"You go, girl!" Angie cheered.
"And since I just gained extra life points again, you take another 500 points of damage from Fire Princess." The woman threw another fireball at Tracey.
Tracey: 9000-8500
Tracey recovered and growled. "Now you're starting to annoy me!" She inserted a card into her duel disk. "I place one card facedown and then activate Card of Demise! This lets me draw until I have 5 cards in my hand." She drew a new hand. She the looked at it for a moment before smirking and revealing one of her cards. "And now I play Spell Shattering Arrow! This lets me destroy all face-up spell cards you have on the field! and for each card that gets destroyed, you take 500 points of damage!" A glowing arrow appeared and flew over to Pele's field before it hit Cauldron of the Old Man. It then unleashed a brilliantly bright pink light, causing Pele and the others to cover their eyes. Moments later, the light died down, letting everyone see that the Cauldron was gone, and the Molten Destruction scenery had changed back to normal. (ATK: 1800-1300 DEF: 1100-1500)
Pele: 4600-3600
"And that costs you another 300 life points!" Tracey added as the Dark Room card fired another energy beam at Pele.
Pele: 3600-3300
"Then I'll summon Bowganian in attack mode!" A green, spiky arm with one eye and a pair of arms appeared. It was carrying a crossbow. (ATK: 1300 DEF: 1000 LV: 3) "Then I activate the spell card, Darkworld Shackles!" A metal ball with a fiendish face and shackles appeared. And then, the shackles attached themselves to Fire Princess' arms, constricting her. "By equipping this card to a monster, I can change its attack and defense points into measly 100!" (ATK: 1300-100 DEF: 1500-100)
"Oh no!" Pele said.
"Now this is going to hurt! Bowganian, attack!" The one-eyed giant ball fired an arrow from its crossbow.
"I activate the trap card, Negate Attack!" Pele's other facedown card flipped up and created a barrier that repelled the arrow. "Thanks to this, your attack is negated."
Tracey scoffed. "Fine, I'll end."
"My turn then." Pele drew and looked over her hand for a moment. "First I activate the spell card, Poison of the Old Man. With this, I can either increase my life points or cause you damage. And as a precaution, I choose to increase my life points by 1200." A blue aura enveloped her.
Pele: 3300-4500
"And of course, this allows Fire Princess to give you another 500 points of damage." The woman threw another fireball at Tracey.
Tracey: 8500-8000
Tracey recovered and growled. "It's gonna take more than that to defeat me!"
"True. Which is why I now play the field spell, Fire King Island!" At that, the scenery changed again. Everyone found themselves near the edge of a cliff. The forest looked pretty much the same. But the volcano of the Academy island was replaced with a new volcano, in a different shape. "This field spell has two certain effects. And I can activate one of them by destroying a monster card in my hand or on my field." Pele held up a card with the image of UFO Turtle before it glowed and shattered into pixels. "After that, I can add a Fire King monster from my deck to my hand." She went through her deck for a moment before grabbing a card.
Tracey raised an eyebrow. "Fire King? What kind of monster is that?"
"You'll see soon enough. But for now, since I have a fire monster on the field, I can summon Goka, the Pyre of Malice!" From a flash of light, some kind of metal container appeared. And then, a flame with a ferocious face emerged from it. (ATK: 2200 DEF: 1900 LV: 6) "But since I summoned it through this method, I must destroy a fire monster I control. And I have no choice but to destroy Fire Princess." The named monster shattered into pixels, which caused the shackles to suffer the same fate.
"That's a good call." Jenny said. "For if Fire Princess remained on the field equipped with Darkworld Shackles, then Pele would have taken 500 points of damage during Tracey's standby phase."
"Really?" Jasmine asked, surprised.
"Now that's totally cruel." Mindy added.
Pele moved on by taking UFO Turtle from her graveyard slot. "Next, by removing a fire monster in my graveyard from play, I can summon Spirit of Flames!" A pillar of flames erupted, from which a vicious red-skinned demon emerged, giving a threatening glare with its gleaming green eyes. (ATK: 1700 DEF: 1000 LV: 4) "Then I'll summon Fushi No Tori in attack mode!" A reddish bird appeared. Its wings and tail feathers were made of flames. (ATK: 1200 DEF: 0 LV: 4) "And now I attack. And you should know that my Spirit of Flames gains 300 attack points during my battle phase." Steam emanated from the demon's body as it growled. (ATK: 1700-2000) It then opened its mouth and spat out a torrent of flames that burned the one-eyed giant ball to ashes.
Tracey: 8000-7300
"And now Goka attacks!" The flame with the face flew out of its container and charged forward.
"Sorry twerp, but you triggered Magic Cylinder!" Tracey's facedown card flipped up before a pair of cylinders marked with question marks appeared. "Thanks to this trap, your attack is going back to you!"
Pele gasped as the flame was absorbed into one cylinder and then came out of the other one, colliding with her.
Pele: 4500-2300
Tracey smirked. "And since that was effect damage, you take another 300 points of damage."
Pele: 2300-2000
"Ouch!" Angie winced.
Tracey laughed at this. "Look at you! You try your best to increase your life points, but they just burn out so fast!"
Pele ignored her insults and continued. "Fushi No Tori, direct attack!" The fiery bird took flight and swopped down and struck the stalker with one of its wings.
Tracey: 7300-6100
"And with that, I activate a quick-play spell!" Pele held up one of her cards. "Sebek's Blessing! Since my monster caused you battle damage with a direct attack, I can use this to increase my life points by the same amount." A blue aura enveloped Pele.
Pele: 2000-3200
"And my Fushi No Tori has a special ability..." The fiery bird flew right above her, flapping its wings, making her blue aura expand a little. "When it deals battle damage to you, the life points you lost are added to my life points."
Pele: 3200-4400
"Wow!" Alexis said in awe.
"Nice move." Jenny added.
"You go, girl!" Angie cheered.
Tracey growled.
"And with that, I end my turn..." (ATK: 2000-1700) "And this activates Fushi No Tori's other effect. At the end of the turn it was normal summoned or flipped face-up, it returns to my hand." At that, the fiery bird vanished.
"You'll regret that!" Tracey drew. "I activate Pot of Greed! Now I can draw two cards." She drew her extra cards. And after looking at them, she smirked. "I activate the spell card, Tribute Burial! With this, I can summon a monster by removing one monster from each graveyard. And I know which ones to get rid of..." She trailed off as Bowganian and Fire Princess appeared. "I sacrifice my Bowganian and your Fire Princess in order to summon The Big Saturn!" The two monsters vanished as a bright light illuminated the field right above Tracey. It eventually died down and revealed a huge silver robot with a pair of big arms. Its main body was spherical with twin boosters attached to its back, shooting out a never-ending stream of flames. And there was a halo made of hard light surrounding its body. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 2200 LV: 8)
"No way!" Jenny muttered in shock.
"A Legendary Planet card?" Alexis asked.
"That's crazy!" Angie said.
"You ain't seen nothing yet. I activate The Big Saturn's effect. Once per turn, I can discard 1 card and pay 1000 life points..." Tracey discarded one of her cards.
Tracey: 6100-5100
"After that, it gains 1000 attack points!" The halo surrounding the robot glowed brighter. (ATK: 2800-3800) And then, Tracey's graveyard slot glowed. "And since the card I discarded was Card of Compensation, I can draw 2 more cards." She drew her extra cards. "Now Saturn, destroy her Spirit of Flames!" The giant robot simply swung its right arm downwards and crushed the red demon.
Pele: 4400-2300
"Now that was easy. There's no way you can win with my mighty creature in play. But just in case you try something funny, I place two cards facedown." Two cards appeared near Tracey's feet. (ATK: 3800-2800)
"Alright then." Pele drew. "First I activate Goka's ability. During my standby phase, it automatically creates a Firebal Token." The vicious-looking flame opened its mouth, from which a small fireball emerged and landed right next to it. (ATK: 100 DEF: 100 LV: 1) "Then I'll play my own Pot of Greed..."
Tracey smirked. "In that case, I activate the trap card, Greed!" One of her facedown cards flipped up. "Every time one of us draws cards from the deck because of an effect, that player takes 500 points of damage for each of those extra cards during the end phase."
"Seriously?" Jasmine asked in annoyance.
"That is so unfair." Mindy added.
Pele frowned as she drew her two extra cards. "Then I'll sacrifice my two monsters in order to summon Infernal Flame Emperor!" Her two monsters vanished before a huge creature rose up on the field. It had the body of a lion, a lion-headed human torso taking place where the head would have been. Its entire body was made of flames. (ATK: 2700 DEF: 1600 LV: 9)
Tracey snorted. "Is that the best you can do? My Big Saturn is stronger than that thing."
"But he does have a special ability." Pele countered. "After he's tribute summoned, I can take up to 5 fire monsters from my graveyard and remove them from play." She took Spirit of Flames and Goka the Pyre Malice from her graveyard. "And for each monster I remove, I can destroy one spell or trap card on the field. So there go your Greed and facedown card."
Tracey widened her eyes as her trap and facedown card were swallowed by flames that erupted from the ground.
"Oh yeah!" Angie cheered. "No more direct damage for Pele!"
But Tracey smirked. "Guess again." At that, a trap card rose up from the flames. "My facedown card was Secret Blast. And since your were dumb enough to destroy it using an effect, you'll take 1000 points of damage, plus 300 from Dark Room of Nightmare!"
Pele gasped before she was caught in an explosion.
Pele: 2300-1000
Pele recovered quickly and inserted a card into her duel disk. "I place one card facedown, and activate Fire King Island's effect again. So once again, I destroy a monster card to add a Fire King monster to my hand." One of the cards in her hand shattered into pixels before she searched through her deck and took a new card. "And that ends my turn."
"What a waste. From the way I see it, you proved to be the inferior burn damage duelist here." Tracey insulted.
Pele scowled. "Just make your move."
"If you insist!" Tracey drew. And at that moment, Pele's graveyard slot glowed all of a sudden. "Huh?"
"Are you surprised? Allow me to explain. The first time I used Fire King Island's effect, I added a certain monster card to my hand. And that monster happens to be the same card I destroyed while using my field spell's effect again. And if this monster is destroyed because of an effect, it automatically resurrects itself during the standby phase that comes after."
"What?!" Tracey widened her eyes
"So she planned for that?" Alexis asked, surprised.
"Unbelievable." Jenny muttered.
"So now I summon my Fire King High Avatar Garunix!" At that, a fire circle appeared. And bursting out of it was a huge phoenix. It was ferocious looking, wearing black and golden armor, with a pair of wings with different colors and big, blue feather tails. It also had an actual tail where there were yellow flames. It also had flames burning on its neck. (ATK: 2700 DEF: 1700 LV: 8)
Despite the fact that this new monster was weaker than her own, Tracey started to get nervous.
"And now for the best part. Since Garunix was summoned this way, it destroys all other monsters on the field."
"What?!" Tracey exclaimed.
At that, the giant phoenix flapped its wings. By doing so, it made Infernal Flame Emperor lose its form as its flames spread all over the field. It eventually enveloped The Big Saturn!
"Woohoo!" Angie cheered. "Now the tin can is out of the way!"
"Hehehe!" But then, everyone's attention was drawn to Tracey's laughter. "That was a huge mistake, twerp. Because you just triggered The Big Saturn's other effect!" Right after she said that, the giant robot rose up from the flames. Its entire body was glowing red, letting out some steam with a whistling sound, like it was about to blow. "Since you destroyed it using an effect, it'll give both of us damage equal to its attack points. I have plenty of points to spare..." Tracey smirked smugly. "Unlike you, of course."
Pele gritted her teeth while Angie gasped.
"Oh no!" Jasmine and Mindy shouted.
"Then she'll lose!" Jenny realized.
"No way!" Alexis said in disbelief.
"Now you're finished!" Tracey declared as the robot shook, almost reaching its limit...
"I activate my trap! Nature's Reflection!" Pele's facedown card flipped up, "Thanks to this, any effect activated by you that would cause me damage becomes an effect that'll cause damage to your life points!"
Tracey dropped her jaw.
"Wait, then Pele's damage will be reflected." Alexis realized. "Which means..."
"While she won't take any damage at all, Tracey's damage will be doubled." Jenny filled in.
Tracey panicked as she looked up to the giant robot that finally couldn't hold on any longer. And then, it blew up. A massive explosion enveloped Tracey's field.
"Take that!" Jasmine and Mindy cheered.
"Nice one!" Jenny said with a smile.
"Alright!" Angie cheered. "Pele won!"
"Wrong!"
Everyone went silent as they focused on the smoke. It eventually dissipated, revealing Tracey, who was panting. And what's more...
Tracey: 0500
"What? She still has points?" Angie asked in shock.
It was then Pele noticed a spell card on Tracey's field. "So that's why. You used Emergency Provisions."
Tracey stopped panting and smirked. "Which allowed me to send Dark Room of Nightmare to the grave and increase my life points by 1000. You thought you had me, didn't you. Well too bad for you. I'm not done just yet. And neither is The Big Saturn..." She held up the remaining card in her hand. "With Monster Reborn, I'll bring back my monster!" The giant robot appeared again. (ATK: 2800 DEF: 2200 LV: 8) "Now attack that overgrown chicken!" The robot landed a powerful punch that shattered the phoenix into pixels.
Pele: 1000-0900
"I activate Garunix's special ability. When it's destroyed in battle and sent to the graveyard, I can summon another Fire King monster from my deck. And I choose Fire King Avatar Garunix." From a flash of light, a smaller and less impressive version of the giant phoenix appeared. And it was even less armored than the giant bird. (ATK: 700 DEF: 1700 LV: 3)
Tracey snorted. "Yeah right, as if that little birdie will help you. Face it, you're finished!"
"We'll see about that." Pele replied and drew her next card. She looked at it for a moment before giving her opponent a serious look. "Looks like you're the one who's finished."
Tracey couldn't help but be surprised by her words.
"First of all, I'll use the effect of my field spell to destroy a monster and add another Fire King monster to my hand." One of the cards in her hand shattered into pixels before she took another one from her deck. And then, her graveyard slot glowed before the spirit of a new creature appeared. It was an armored unicorn with a mane and tail made of green flames. "And then I activate the effect of the monster I just destroyed. It's called Fire King Avatar Kirin, and it lets me send 1 fire monster from my deck to the graveyard." Pele took one more card from her deck and slid it into her graveyard slot.
"What's she doing?" Mindy wondered.
"Beats me." Jasmine replied.
Alexis and Jenny watched this indifferently.
Tracey scoffed. "You must be crazy if you think sending monsters to the grave can defeat The Big Saturn."
"I don't need to destroy your monster to defeat you." Pele replied calmly.
"Eh?"
"All I need is this..." Three cards came out of her graveyard slot, causing the giant phoenix, armored unicorn, and Robotic Knight appear briefly. "By removing 3 monsters from my graveyard, I can summon The Blazing Mars!" And then, a pillar of flames erupted from the ground, from which a gigantic demonic head emerged. It had four, dark red horns surrounding its bronze face. In its mouth were not only rows of teeth, but a raging flame that held in place. And, on top of the giant head, was a black armored warrior shrouded in darkness. (ATK: 2600 DEF: 2200 LV: 8)
The audience was stunned.
"No freaking way." Angie muttered in awe.
And Tracey was really shocked. "It can't be! You of all people have that Legendary Planet card?!"
"That's right." Pele replied calmly, still looking serious. "And I take it you know about its special ability?"
The stalker flinched.
"By sending all the other monsters on my field to the graveyard, The Blazing Mars can deal 500 points of damage for each of them. So with Garunix by its side... well, you probably know already."
"No no no! Wait!" Tracey said while waving her hands in panic.
But it was too late. The bird was absorbed into Mars' mouth. And then, the fire it contained intensified before it erupted, and engulfed Tracey who cried out loudly. Moments later, the attack ended, and everyone saw Tracey lying on the ground, dazed and burned.
Tracey: 0500-0000
As the holograms vanished, Angie ran over to Pele and threw an arm around her neck. "Whoa! Now that's what I call spicy! You totally owned her, Pele!"
Pele smiled and giggled a bit. "Thanks."
"That was impressive." Jenny complimented as she and the other approached them. "I thought she had you there for a moment."
"Me too. That Tracey didn't hold back there." Alexis added. "You're good."
"Thanks." Pele nodded. "So, what brings you guys here? Other than the duel, of course."
"Nothing, really." Jenny replied. "We were just hanging out."
"Well, that, and also talking about Jenny and Andrew's relationship." Jasmine pitched in.
"Yeah, we were just asking Jenny about their anniversary!" Mindy added.
Jenny almost facepalmed as she moaned at this. "You two..."
Alexis, Angie and Pele sweatdropped at this.
'Well, at least your relationship is secured.' Angie thought to herself. 'Good for you, cuz.'
"ACHOO!" Somewhere else, Andrew was minding his own business right before he sneezed. He sniffed a bit. "Hm? Why do I get the feeling that someone's talking about me?"
And that's that. This was done earlier than I thought. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Until next time.
