The next day, we got up early enough to have breakfast in the hotel. We got dressed and put our bathing suits under our clothes. When I started to realize I'll be facing Jenny during the 4th of July party, I'm start to dread it. I'm still mad at her for what she did- so is Logan. I wish he was here with me.

I was talking to myself in the mirror.

"Jenny, we need to talk. What you did was...," I paused.

That didn't seem right. I fixed my hair and tried again. "I need to chat with you, Jenny. You weren't a true friend for what you did. I think we should... No."

I was struggling to know what to say or do. That's why I need Dad for this part. I don't want to make a wrong decision. I also wonder if telling her at the party would be the right time. I'd blame myself for putting her in a bad mood. That's all I worry about.

"Your father and Mr. Thomas are almost ready to go have breakfast, but they said we can start head down there and they'll meet us," said April.

"Okay," I said.

On the way to breakfast, Kayla said, "You look nervous about something."

"I'm feeling uncomfortable about seeing Jenny," I said.

"We believe it," said Kaylee.

"What happened?" asked April.

"She stole Mary Anne's boyfriend when we came here last time for our birthday," said Kayla.

"Wow," said April.

"I'm trying to forget about it. Actually, it didn't occur to me until this morning," I said.

"It's okay. None of us didn't think of that until now," said Kaylee.

"I'm not sure on how to react," I said.

I looked over to see if Dad is down yet.

"I don't see him. I'll just wait for him. I rather talk to him than doing things on my own," I said.

"Of course," said Kayla.

I waited for Dad by the entrance of the buffet. I spotted Mr. Thomas, but not Dad.

"Aren't you going in?" asked Mr. Thomas.

"I'm just waiting on Dad," I said.

"He's almost here. Don't wait too long," said Mr. Thomas.

"I'm not worried about time," I said.

When I finally spotted him coming, I went over to him. "Dad, can we talk for a moment?"

"Sure," said Dad.

We were walking over to the buffet.

"We don't have time," said Mr. Thomas.

"Gee. Thanks for the tip," I said as I walked away with a tray.

"What's gotten into her?" asked Mr. Thomas.

"Patrick, can't you tell something is bothering her? She wanted to talk to me," said Dad.

"We're going to be leaving soon," said Mr. Thomas.

"Don't worry, we do have time," said Dad. "And, don't give her a lecture like you just did."

He went to join me at the table.

"We can talk over here," said Dad.

"I have a small problem I would like to ask for an advice," I said.

"Is everything okay?" asked Dad. "You don't sound too cheerful about what we're doing today."

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about before we leave. Don't get me wrong, I am glad you surprised us to see the Happy Days group," I said.

"Which is good," said Dad.

"But there is one person I'm not too thrilled to be facing," I said.

It took him a minute who was I talking about.

"Isn't it because of what Jenny did to you last time you came here?" asked Dad as I nodded. "I almost forgot you mentioned it to me until you brought it up."

"What I don't get is that she was supposed to be my friend and she knew what she did bother me," I said.

"Well, you just need to trust with you guts, honey. Think of this way: Do you think that she even deserves to be your friend for doing that?" asked Dad.

"I haven't though about that," I said.

"It's okay. You're not alone," said Dad. "It's never easy to make any tough decisions."

"Did it ever happened to you while you were growing up?" I asked.

"No," said Dad.

"You're lucky," I said. "I just wanted to make sure I'm making the right decision that is best for me."

"I understand," said Dad.

"I still haven't forgiving her for what happened. I know Logan was mad at her, too. I find it hard to trust her now," I said.

"Trust is also keyword on friendships," said Dad.

"I'm just struggling on what to say. I might just forgive her, but I'll tell her that friendship will not be fixed," I said.

"That would work," said Dad. "You have time to decide."

"The only things is when would be the best time to bring it up because I don't want to be miserable and I'd be afraid that she could be in a bad mood because of me," I said.

"You got a good point," said Dad. "Listen, if Jenny is giving you any issues, you can come to me or go see Ralph."

"I thought about the same thing," I said. "This would be my first time getting rid of a friend."

We were still talking about it until it was time to head outside. Now, I feel good about this big, tough decision, but I felt it would be the right thing to do. That was when Potsie and Ralph showed up.

"Hello, girls," said Ralph.

"Hi!" exclaimed Kayla.

"We're so surprised to see you guys again," said Dawn. "This is my stepfather, Richard and this is Kristy's father, Patrick."

"Nice to meet you both," said Ralph.

"Same here," said Mr. Thomas.

"Nice to see you girls again," said Potsie referring to Marci and the others.

"Same," said Marci.

"Can't wait to spend the day with you," said Patti.

"We had a blast when we were here last time," said Kathi.

"That's good," said Fonzie.

"I brought a friend, April," I said.

"Hello," said April.

"Hi," said Fonzie.

"We have something planned for all of you back at my house," said Potsie.

"We already put our bathing suits under our clothes," said Kayla.

"Oh, good," said Potsie.

"Who's your friend?" asked Ralph.

"Oh, this is Carlos," I said.

"Hello, nice to meet you," said Potsie.

"Same here," said Carlos.

"My family adopted him not long ago," I said.

Then, we went to Fonzie's. In the backyard, the girls noticed a pool party.

"Wow. This is huge," said Stacey.

"I know," said Kristy.

"The pool party also includes a cook out," said Ralph.

"That's awesome," said Dawn.

"Our final treat tonight that we'll go see the fireworks," said Fonzie.

"Sweet," said Marci.

When I saw Jenny coming, I knew this was going to happen. I froze and walked away.

"I'll go with you," said April in a low voice.

"Uh, what's up with Mary Anne?" asked Potsie.

"I thought she'd be glad to be here," said Fonzie.

"I think I know what's effecting her: Isn't she still angry at Jenny?" asked Ralph.

"Yes," said Stacey.

"I thought so," said Ralph.

"Jenny doesn't know that Mary Anne plans to end things," said Dad.

"I don't blame her," said April.

"Neither do I," said Ralph.

"She didn't know how to handle things, which was why she asked to speak to me first before we came here," said Dad.

"She told us she was feeling uncomfortable about coming here," said Kayla.

"That's why I didn't want to mention this to her last night," said Mallory.

"You did the right thing," said Dad.

"Look, Jenny's trying to follow Mary Anne," said Kaylee.

"Oh, brother. Is she insane? I bet she won't give up for trying because Mary Anne's not to budge," said Kayla.

When I didn't answer Jenny while I was walking away from her, she went to the others with an angry face.

"What is Mary Anne's problem?" asked Jenny.

"What do you want us to do about it?" asked Kristy.

"She kept ignoring me," said Jenny.

"Can you blame her?" asked Marci.

"You were the one who ruined that trip while we were here last time," added Patti.

"And honestly, Jenny, you need to grow up," said Kathi.

"You can't tell me what to do," said Jenny.

"Too bad," said Kathi.

"We care about our best friend," said Kristy.

April and I were sitting with Al, Joannie, Richie, and Howard. She was glad to meet all of them. Later, I was having lunch with my friends.

"We noticed you were ignoring Jenny," said Kaylee.

"I had to do that. She was getting on my nerves," I said.

"Your father told us you're planning to end that friendship," said Marci.

"Yes, I was worried about making more problems while we're here and I didn't want to be miserable," I said. "Therefore, I didn't want to mention it during the party."

"That was a strong move for you to wait," said April.

"I'd do the same," said Patti.

"He said I can go to him or Ralph if Jenny gives me any problems," I said.

"Good," said Marci. "I'll be on the lookout, too."

"Kathi and I will do the same," said Patti.

"I'm debating to do it towards the end before we go see the fireworks so I can enjoy it," I said.

"Of course," said Dawn.

"Jenny was mad that you ignored her while walking away," said Kayla.

"I'm not surprised," I said.

"Sorry about that part," said Mallory. "I was just concerned how you would react, which is why I didn't want to say anything to worry you."

"I'm glad I came," I said.

"That's a good thing. That's all it matters," said Jessi.

After we had lunch, we spent the afternoon in the pool. That night, Howard said, "We'll be leaving in an hour to see the fireworks if you guys want to start getting ready."

That was when we grabbed our clothes.

"Do I have time to call Logan after I changed up?" I asked my father.

"Yes, we won't be leaving for awhile," said Dad.

In there, after I changed into my clothes, I called Logan. When he answered, I told him about Jenny.

"I wasn't thrilled about coming here to face her," I said. "She tried to follow me around, but I'm trying to ignore her while I'm having a good time."

"Good," said Logan.

"I made up with my mind that I'm not going to move forward with Jenny. Another words: I don't want to be friends with her," I said.

"I wouldn't, either," said Logan.

"But I decided to wait until later on tonight," I said.

"Better than making a scene during the pool party," said Logan.

"We're getting ready to go see the fireworks tonight," I said.

"I'm going to be in Kentucky tomorrow," said Logan.

"That's where we'll be heading for the next three nights," I said. "We'll be spending in Iowa for the week afterwards."

"I'll be looking forward to see you," said Logan.

"Me, too," I said.

After we finished talking, I knew what I was going to do. I knew this was a perfect time to go out there and tell Jenny about my decision to end that friendship.

"But why?" asked Jenny.

"Why did you think? Did you forget you hurt me by taking Logan?" I asked.

"I get I made a mistake," said Jenny.

"But you lost my trust," I said.

"I was trying to apologize, but you ignored me," said Jenny.

"Gee, that's a shame," I said. "What you did hurt wasn't a true friend."

"All I asked was to forgive me so we can start over," said Jenny.

"I'll forgive you," I said.

"Oh, good," said Jenny.

"However, reconnecting with you is not going to happen," I said.

"But that's not fair," said Jenny.

"You should've thought about that before," I said.

There, I'm glad I got it out of my system. Then, it was time to go see the fireworks. I figured I'd do it that way so I can enjoy myself.

"I'm glad you're finally doing that," said Marci. "She better not give you a hard time or I will let her have it."

She is very protective lately ever since we've been friends. She does not like Cokie for the way she treats me and would just tell her off. One time, she did tried to lie that Marci 'punched' her, but the principal and I didn't believe Cokie and she got in trouble for lying. I knew that Marci would never hurt anyone.

At the hotel, after the fireworks ended, Jenny, who was still trying to get back to me, stopped in front of me. Thank goodness I was with my real friends.

"You're a traitor. You and the other Brunettes are friends," said Jenny.

"Big deal," said Marci.

I stood up getting fed up with Jenny. "Newsflash: if I want to be friends with Marci and her sidekicks, that's my decision. Therefore, you need to mind your business."

"That's right, so you need to get over it," said Marci.

"I know what you're trying to do, but I told you that is not going to happen," I said.

"I think you're so mean," said Jenny.

Oh, my lord. I've about had it with her.

"She is not mean," said Marci putting her hands on her hips.

"My decision is final," I said.

I was saying something to Marci and walked away.

Jenny had no idea Dad, who had just saw me storming off, was nearby hearing all this. He was giving her a Stern Look and was heading over to her.

"What is your problem, Jenny, talking to my daughter like that?" asked Dad.

"But...," said Jenny.

"No buts," said Dad. "She is getting fed up with you."

"Mary Anne just told me she was reporting it to Ralph," said Marci.

"Good, I'm glad," said Kathi.

"He'll fix Jenny," said Marci.

"Mr. Spier had just heard her, too," said Patti.

I was talking to Ralph.

"It's funny that you came to tell me because your father asked me how you made out," said Ralph.

"She just accused me of being mean," I said. "That's why I came to you."

"No, you are not mean. You did the right thing by coming to me," said Ralph. "You were making it clear. That was your decision to make and I'm glad you're sticking to it."

"Marci just gave her a lecture," I said.

"Good," said Ralph.

"I don't think Jenny cares how much this hurt me," I said. "Can you make her understand?"

"Of course," said Ralph.

"No offense, but I just can't wait to leave for Kentucky tomorrow," I said.

"I hear you," said Ralph.

"I'm going back to the hotel room," I said.

"Go ahead. Wait until I have a talk with Jenny," said Ralph.

I had just walked away when Dad came by looking for me.

"Do you know where Mary Anne is?" asked Dad.

"You had just missed her. She was heading back to the hotel room," said Ralph.

"That's okay," said Dad.

"She had just told me about what happen," said Ralph.

"I had just heard that and let her have it, too," said Dad. "Marci also gave her a lecture."

"Glad you were nearby," said Ralph.

"Can you do me one favor?"

"Sure, anything," said Ralph.

"Jenny is being forbidden to have any contract on Mary Anne," said Dad.

"That's not fair!" exclaimed Jenny.

"Yes, and that's final," said Ralph.

"Mary Anne made it clear that she isn't interested in being friends with you," said Dad.

"We're leaving now," said Ralph as he turned to Jenny. "As for you, Jenny, you and I need to have a talk on the way."

After they left, Ralph was in the car, he said, "What is wrong with you telling her that she is mean? What you did was uncalled for. I'm going to tell your father when I drop you off."

Back at the hotel, I deleted and blocked Jenny's number. I was shaken up so much I was trying not to start crying. I was in my nightgown. I ran into the bathroom slamming the door.

Out there, Mr. Thomas was coming over. "Does anyone want ice cream before go back to our rooms for the night? We'll be leaving for Louisville first thing in the morning."

"Sure," said Kayla.

"You guys can go without me so I can go talk to Mary Anne," said Dad.

"Let me give you our spare hotel room key," said Kaylee.

"Thank you," said Dad.

"We have to leave anyway. Have a great rest of your summer," said Richie.

In the hotel room, Dad must have been looking for me because I did not hear the door opening. "Mary Anne." He must have knew I was hiding in the bathroom. He knocked and noticed I have been crying.

"You can come with me, honey," said Dad.

I got up and went to him. I was wiping my tears.

"I just wanted to check to see how you were doing," said Dad.

"I decided to tell Jenny after the party, but I did it before we came here to see the fireworks," I said.

"I wondered how you made out with that," said Dad.

"I don't regret on what I did, but it didn't end well," I said.

"She won't give up for trying," I said. "She was trying to force me to fix our friendship."

"She shouldn't be forcing you to remain friends," said Dad.

"All she kept doing was asking for me to forgive her and to start over. I managed to forgive her, but I told her reconnecting will not happen," I said. "She didn't like it one bit. I told her she would've thought about it before."

"I agree with you," said Dad. "You made it clear that you don't want to be doing that."

"She told me she didn't get that Marci and I are friends. We both said to mind her business," I said.

"That's right," said Dad.

"I had just deleted and blocked Jenny's number," I said. "I needed to walk away because I was getting fed up with her."

"I don't blame you," said Dad. "I heard her what she said to you and gave her a lecture for it."

"Thank goodness Marci was nearby," I said.

"Once I saw that, I forbid Jenny from staying in touch with you and Ralph agreed with me," said Dad.

"Good," I said.

"So you know what to do whenever you had any other problems like that for next time," said Dad.

"I find that helped me make me feel good about making tough decisions," I said.

"That's a good thing," said Dad.

"I'm still planning going to you in case I need any advice before taking any steps," I said.

"I'm fine with that," said Dad.

"I rather do that than making wrong decisions," I said.

"Understandable," said Dad.

"I might go to bed early tonight so I can clear my head and be refreshed for the morning," I said.

"Okay. Don't forget if you need me, I'll be right next door," said Dad. "I love you, honey."

"Love you, too, Dad," I said as we hugged.
