RAW is WAR: 4/5/1998
RAW is WAR was live at Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia. The ongoing and current match was The Rock and Owen Hart against Faarooq and Steve Blackman. Owen Hart is now officially a member of the Nation of Domination after turning on Ken Shamrock and breaking his ankle last week. Commissioner Slaughter comes down and makes sure the rest of the Nation heads back to the locker room to prevent any shenanigans.
Big brawl to start. In the ring though, Faarooq hits the DOMINATOR on Rock and Owen has to break up the pinfall. Blackman concentrates on Owen's knee and delivers a nasty looking leg whip on the guy. You can see Blackman stop for a second to make sure Owen still has his knee in tact. Faarooq tags in and picks up where Blackman left off as he wraps Owen's knee around the post. Rock gets a tag and receives a piledriver (!) for 1-2-NO!
Rocky fires back with a Hurricane DDT. Tag to Owen, he delivers a reverse neckbreaker and a flying elbow drop on Faarooq. Owen draws in Blackman so he and Rock can double-team Faarooq. Rock slams Faarooq down for the People's Elbow and puts his foot on Faarooq's chest for only a two-count. Back over to Owen, he comes off the ropes into a Faarooq Spinebuster.
Tag to Blackman, he's all clotheslines and dropkicks on the Nation. Bicycle Kick to Owen sets up the hammerlock-armbar submission, but Rock breaks it up. Rock and Faarooq brawl to the floor. Meanwhile, Jeff Jarrett comes out and snaps Blackman's neck on the top rope. Blackman staggers around into a spinning heel kick from Owen and that's all she wrote.
However, as the Rock and Owen Hart celebrated...
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
The Devil's Wolf played to a loud cheer from the fans as the lights switched to the sinister blood red and dark blue before the Bladewolf walked out, storming towards the ring.
"Oh no!" Jerry's eyes widened.
"My God, it's the Bladewolf." JR said with dread. "And he is not happy! Not happy one bit!"
"What the hell is he doing out here?!" Jerry questioned. The Bladewolf slides into the ring and clotheslines the Rock. "No!"
"The Bladewolf taking out the Rock!" JR shouted. Owen Hart rushes at the Bladewolf and throws some rights, but the Bladewolf retaliates with a big uppercut. "And a big right uppercut to Owen Hart!"
Bladewolf grabs Owen and launches him into the corner, unloading with a fury of lefts and rights to the midsection, then hammering away at Hart's forehead until he's sitting down in the corner. The Rock runs up from behind and attacks the masked man, trying to help Owen Hart, but the Bladewolf whirls around and floors the Intercontinental Champion with a big right hand.
"Big right to the Rock!" JR called.
"What is this all about?! Is this about what Paul Bearer said last week?" Jerry questioned again.
"Perhaps, but I think there's more to it." JR said. "I think this is because of Mr. McMahon's refusal to grant the Bladewolf his rematch with Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWF Title! And he's going to cause destruction to let everybody know how he feels about it!"
The Bladewolf whirls around and grabs Owen Hart by the throat, much to the crowd's delight as he gets into the center of the ring then lifts Owen up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
"A Chokeslam! Chokeslam to Owen Hart!" JR exclaimed.
"Run Rock!" Jerry shouted, even though the Rock couldn't hear him as the Bladewolf stalks the WWF Intercontinental Champion.
"The Bladewolf now eyeing up the Intercontinental Champion." JR noted.
The Rock stumbled to his feet and turned around, only to be scooped up onto the Bladewolf's right shoulder. The crowd are cheering as the Bladewolf gets the Intercontinental Champion into position.
"No... no, not this!" Jerry's eyes widened.
"Here it comes!" JR exclaimed. The Bladewolf... DROPS THE ROCK WITH A TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! "Tombstone! The Tombstone Piledriver on the Intercontinental Champion!"
The Bladewolf gets to his feet and flips his hair back, raising his arms when Vince McMahon suddenly appears on the titantron.
"Bladewolf! Hey Bladewolf!" Vince shouted, causing the Demon Wolf to look towards the tron. "Yeah, I'm talking to you! Do you think this is acceptable? Going around, interfering in matches, destroying everybody that gets in your way, and for what? Because I refuse to give you Steve Austin for the title? You know what, I'm sick of watching this. You want a title match, Bladewolf? Well, you get it tonight!"
"Oh yeah! The Bladewolf vs Steve Austin for the title!" JR said over the cheers.
"Tonight, you will face... The Rock with the Intercontinental Championship on the line!" Vince said with a smug smile. The crowd booed as they realized Vince hadn't said anything about it being Stone Cold and the WWF Championship. "Maybe that will satisfy your desire to be Champion. Oh, and that match is now. So referee, ring that bell and get it over with."
"Oh, you gotta be kidding me." JR threw a hand up.
"What?" Jerry looked at him in confusion. "He's getting a title match!"
"But it's not the Championship that he wants!" JR countered.
The referee checks on the Rock who is unaware of what is going on as he shakily gets to his feet and the referee rings the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
"Well, this match is underway and-OH MY GOD!" JR exclaimed in surprise as the Bladewolf charged and... NAILS A SPEAR ON THE ROCK! "A Spear! The Bladewolf just Speared the Intercontinental Champion!"
"Wow!" Jerry's eyes were wide.
Bladewolf gets to his feet, grabs the Rock and scoops him up onto his shoulders in a fireman's carry... AND THEN HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF! He rolls the Rock onto his back and hooks the legs.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three! Ring the bell!" The referee called.
"We have a new Champion!" JR shouted.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
The Devil's Wolf plays as the Bladewolf gets to his feet, flipping his hair back. "Here is your winner and the NEW World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion... THE BLADEWOLF!"
"The Bladewolf has made history once again!" JR said as the referee hands Bladewolf the Intercontinental Championship, which he places on his right shoulder. "He is now the youngest Intercontinental Champion."
"Wow..." Jerry shakes his head.
The Bladewolf drops the title, raises his arms and then throws them down. Four lightning bots hit the turnbuckles, making fire explode from them as the lights dim to the sinister blood red and dark blue. Bladewolf picks up his title and leaves the ring, heading to the back.
Later, it was Kne vs The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust. Kane's arm is bandaged after the inferno match at Unforgiven. These two guys brawl for close to two minutes when suddenly... HERE COMES THE UNDERTAKER AND BLADEWOLF!
"The Undertaker and the Bladewolf!" JR exclaimed as Jerry screamed. The brothers attack Paul Bearer. "Attacking Paul Bearer!"
"I knew this was gonna happen!" Jerry shouted.
Kane saw what was happening and rushed to Paul Bearer's aid, attacking the Undertaker first but the Bladewolf tackled him against the ring apron and hammered away on his brother with lefts and rights.
"The Bladewolf and Undertaker are like possessed men!" JR said. Bladewolf grabs Kane's injured arm and bangs it off the steel ring post. Kane stumbles back, Bladewolf landing a big right that sends Kane stumbling a little up the ramp. Bladewolf goes after him as referees and officials try to separate the brothers. The Undertaker goes to help Bladewolf deal with Kane, the two brothers attacking their own brother.
"What a war! What a hellacious war with these three brothers!" JR said. "The fight is on here!"
Commissioner Slaughter tries to push them apart, but the Bladewolf knocks him down with a big right hand, then chases Kane to the back, with the Undertaker following.
Was that a cheap way for Bladewolf to become Champion again? Yeah, but hey, need some memorable moments.
