Sunday Night HEAT: 6/9/1998
Sunday Night HEAT was live at the New Haven Coliseum in New Haven, Connecticut. Following the highlights of RAW featuring Vince McMahon insulting the Brothers of Destruction, and the brothers cresting destruction throughout the night, the next match is the Brothers of Destruction vs Road Warrior Animal and Droz in a three-on-two Handicap match.
In the arena, the Undertaker's theme plays to cheers from the crowd before the pyro explodes and out comes the Brothers of Destruction to a huge ovation from the crowd as they make their way towards the ring.
Will you look at that? Will you look at those three seven footers?" JR said. "Over three hundred lbs apiece, and last night on RAW, it looked like the scene out of a bad car wreck. Bodies were lying everywhere. And it all started when Vince McMahon called these three men... wussies."
"Well, it's not what he said, JR." Shane pointed out. "But Mr. McMahon definitely stirred the pot.
Making it to the ring, Undertaker walks up the steel steps and raises his arms to turn the lights back to normal before beginning to enter the ring as Bladewolf and Kane climb onto the apron and step over the top rope. Kane flips his hair back then raises his arms before throwing them down, causing fire to explode from the turnbuckles.
The Road Warriors' theme hits and out comes Animal and Droz as they make their way towards the ring.
"And their opponents, at a combined weight of 577 lbs... Darren Drozdov and Animal!" Tony Chimel announced.
Droz and Animal enter the ring and stand across from the brothers as their theme dies down and the referee calls for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Bladewolf and Undertaker step out of the ring and onto the apron, letting Kane start off with Droz. Droz lunges, but Kane kicks him in the stomach, then lands an uppercut, then another that gets Droz on the ropes. Kane grabs Droz by the head and rams it into the top turnbuckle. Kane then lands a big right hand, followed by an Irish whip across the ring and a turnbuckle clothesline. Kane then backs off, comes off the ropes before driving his big boot into the head of Droz.
Kane pulls Droz to his feet and Irish whips him off the ropes again. Kane bends down, but Droz lands a kick that snaps Kane upright with no effect. Droz bounds off the ropes but gets floored with a huge clothesline. Kane runs, rebounds off the ropes and goes for a running elbow drop but Droz moves out of the way.
"And Kane couldn't connect with that one." JR said.
Droz stumbles into the corner and Kane goes after him but is met with a double boot to the face by Droz. Droz charges at Kane and hits a clothesline.
"Yeah!" Shane cheered, even though Kane does not go down.
Droz backs up, then charges, leaps and knocks Kane down onto his back but Kane sits up instantly. Droz goes over to his corner as Kane backs to his. Droz tags in Animal, and Kane tags in Bladewolf.
Bladewolf lands a quick kick to Animal's stomach.
"Oh, nice shot." Shane complimented.
Bladewolf grabs Animal by the hair and lands a big right hand, knocking Animal into the corner. Bladewolf delivers a big left hook, then a right, then a left, he unloads with a fury of punches, driving Animal down further before the Intercontinental Champion whirls on the referee to scare him back.
"And what a great match the Bladewolf had at SummerSlam, retaining his Intercontinental Championship against the Rock and Triple H." JR said.
"Oh, I saw that match and it was awesome, JR." Shane laughed. Bladewolf grabs Animal and pulls him into a close-quarters clothesline. "I mean, I've been watching this guy since he arrived at least year's SummerSlam, and I am always impressed with what he does."
Bladewolf delivers a stomp to Animal before walking over and tagging in the Undertaker.
"And now, tag made to the Undertaker." JR said.
Undertaker walks over to Animal who stumbles to his feet and gets taken down with a big boot to the face. Undertaker pulls Animal to his feet and Irish whips him, goes for a right but Animal ducks. He rebounds off the ropes only to get knocked back down with a clothesline by the Undertaker. Undertaker runs, rebounds off the ropes and goes for the running elbow drop but Animal moves out of the way.
Animal goes on the attack, kicking Undertaker before going for an Irish whip but the Undertaker reverses. However, Animal come sback with a flying shoulder tackle that knocks the Undertaker down. Animal goes for the cover.
"One!"
"Two-!"
Undertaker kicks out at two.
"Almost." Shane noticed.
"Near-fall by Animal." JR nodded.
Animal grabs Undertaker's arm and twists around, then drives his knee into the Phenom's midsection before getting him onto the ropes where Animal does repeated shoulder drives into the stomach of the Undertaker. Animal Irish whips the Phenom, but Undertaker reverses and ANimal hits the ropes when Kane hits him from behind.
"Oh! What a shot." JR said.
Animal is too focused on Kane, and Undertaker strikes the leg from behind.
"The Undertaker going downstairs, right on the knee." JR said.
Undertaker focuses on the leg, lifting it up before bringing his elbow down onto it once, then twice, then a third time. Undertaker then wrenches the leg before locking a knee-bar submission hold.
As this is going on, Vince McMahon walks out on the stage, looking pleased and happy with the sight, with noticeable signs of injury from the assault done on him by the Brothers of Destruction.
Animal couldn't take the pain and taps out!
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Droz comes in and attacks Undertaker who is still keeping the hold locked in. Kane and Bladewolf rush in and attack Droz, They grab him by the throat, lift him up and... HIT A DOUBLE CHOKESLAM!
"More carnage!" JR shouted. "And Vince is enjoying this!"
Undertaker soon releases the hold, and the Brothers of Destruction stand tall as the Undertaker's theme plays.
After the TAKA Michinoku vs. Edge match, the Brothers of Destruction come out, with Kane dragging Briscoe, and Bladewolf dragging Patterson with them.
"Oh my God, will you look at this?" JR said.
"Oh no. c'mon." Shane said. "Uncle Gerry! Uncle Pat!
"Patterson and Briscoe, the Stooges." JR said.
"JR, get in there and help!" Shane pushed him.
"No way." JR shook his head.
The Brothers of Destruction enter the ring with their hostages, the Undertaker grabbing a microphone as Bladewolf and Kane continued to hold Patterson and Briscoe.
"McMahon, you got ten seconds to get out or we're going to dismantle both of your top stooges." Undertaker threatened, then dropped the microphone.
"Well, the Undertaker, Kane and Bladewolf want Vince!" JR said.
"10. 9. 8. 7." Undertaker counted, then left the fans to count down to zero.
"Mr. McMahon is not gonna come out here!" JR said as Bladewolf and Kane start attacking their hostages, Bladewolf hammering away on Patterson, Kane on Briscoe while the Undertaker is watching them.
Kane Irish whips Briscoe and floors him with a big clothesline. Bladewolf boots Patterson in the head. Undertaker guves some orders, and the masked brothers grab their victims by the throat. Undertaker stands in the middle, and grabs Patterson and Briscoe by the throats as well. Together, the three brothers lift their victims up... AND PLANT THEM WITH A TRIPLE CHOKESLAM!
"Oh my God!" JR shouted.
Undertaker's theme plays as the Brothers of Destruction leave the ring.
After HEAT came back from the break following the European Championship match between D'Lo Brown and Val Venis, Vince McMahon was in the ring with a microphone in hand.
"Well, many of you must be wondering, why is Vince McMahon wearing black?" Vince started. "Well, actually I'm wearing black because I'm in mourning. That's right, Vince McMahon is in mourning. I'm in-"
'Austin! Austin! Austin!' The crowd chanted.
"Crowd chanting for Stone Cold Steve Austin." JR said.
"I'm in mourning because on September 27th, Stone Cold Steve Austin's reign as the WWF Champion will die!" Vince declared.
"How does he know that?" JR questioned.
"And in a moment, I will be further addressing Stone Cold Steve Austin. But right now, Undertaker-" Vince stopped as the crowd chanted 'asshole' at him. "Undertaker, I understand you, Kane and Bladewolf are looking for me. I'm obviously not too hard to find."
The Undertaker's theme hits and the Brothers of Destruction come out, storming to the ring while Vince exits and stays at ringside as the brothers enter the ring, glaring at the WWF owner.
"I know you can destroy me." Vince said. "You did that last night on RAW. I'm just asking you for one thing. I want to apologise. I want to publicly and humbly apologise for my remarks to you Undertaker, to you Kane and to you Bladewolf. there is no doubt in anyone's mind, no question. You are the single most destructive force in the history of the World Wrestling Federation. And I apologise for my remarks, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Undertaker, I truly believe that you deserve another opportunity to be the WWF Champion. I do. I believe, Undertaker, you deserve a rematch. And Kane, you're equally destructive, Kane. Kane, you deserve an opportunity to once again wear the World Wrestling Federation Championship. And Bladewolf, you are just as destructive, equally destructive. I know you've been itching to get your rematch that you never got following Unforgiven, but I see differently now. I see that you deserve an opportunity to be the WWF Champion again. And the only thing right now, missing with this equation is the current WWF Champion. And Stone Cold Steve Austin, if you have the guts to come out here and stand before Vince McMahon, come on down!"
"Uh-oh." JR said.
Not a second later, the glass shatters and Austin walks out, making his way towards the ring.
"Well, here he comes." JR said. "The Rattlesnake is not afraid of any living being."
Austin enters the ring, eyeing the Brothers of Destruction who stare right back at him as Austin's theme dies down.
'Austin! Austin! Austin!' The crowd chanted.
"Austin, for the life of me, I have no idea what these fans see in you. I haven't a clue!" Vince started. "I have no idea why they stand behind you. The fact of the matter is, that you've disrespect Vince McMahon for the very last time. Let me tell you something, you've mocked my authority for the very last time, pal. There's no, absolutely no reddeming, social or otherwise any value whatsoever that you bring to the World Wrestling Federation. Not one. And that's why, Austin, on Sunday, September 27th, you're going to defend the World Wrestling Federation Champion. You're going to defend the Championship against Kane!"
"Wow, Kane beat Austin at King of the Ring for the title." JR said.
"And let me tell you something, Austin, on Sunday, September 27th, you're going to defend the WWF Championship against the Undertaker!" Vince revealed.
"What?" JR blinked.
"This is getting good!" Shane laughed.
"Two matches?" JR asked.
"And on Sunday, September 27th, you're going to defend the WWF Championship against the Bladewolf!" Vince revealed once more.
"Three matches?" JR was confused.
"Let me break it down for you, Austin." Vince smirked. "It's real simple; on Sunday night, September 27th, you're going to defend the WWF Championship against the Undertaker, Kane and the Bladewolf in a fatal 4-Way match!"
"Well, that's not fair!" JR said.
"Yes, it is!" Shane said.
"Austin can't survive that! Austin can't survive against these three monsters!" JR said.
Sunday Night HEAT goes off the air...
