RAW is WAR: 29/3/1999
RAW is WAR was live at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Twenty four hours removed from WrestleMania 15. Following a segment where Ken Shamrock found Stephanie McMahon, who was being harassed by the Undertaker and his Ministry of Darkness, the next upcoming match pitted the new WWF Tag Team Champions Bladewolf and Kane against the Legion of Doom in a non-title match.
In the arena, the lights go out followed by Kane's theme playing.
OOOOOOOOWWWWHHHHOOOOOOO!
Fire explodes on the stage as Kane's theme is replaced by The Devil's Wolf, the lights dimming to the sinister blood red and dark blue as the Bladewolf and Kane walk out together and start making their way towards the ring. Kane had his Tag Team title over his shoulder, while Bladewolf had his around his waist.
"The following Tag-team contest is scheduled for one-fall! Making their way to the ring, at a combined weight of 636 lbs, they are the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions, the Brothers of Destruction... KANE & THE BLADEWOLF!" Tony Chimel announced.
"Last night, these two destructive, demonic brothers achieved their goal of becoming the next Tag Team Champions." Cole said. "They defeated Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart in a No Holds Barred Tornado Tag match, and what a match it was, King."
"Oh, I agree with you there." Jerry nodded. "I mean, my money was on Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart, but the Bladewolf and Kane persisted and came out the winners in the end and the new Tag Team Champions."
"And with that victory, the entire Tag Team division had been put on notice." Cole mentioned. "There are teams that want to challenge for the titles, but there are others that are against challenging the Brothers of Destruction."
"Can you really blame them?" Jerry asked. "Try and take those titles from those two monsters is like trying to sneak up on a bear and take it's food; never going to happen."
Kane and the Bladewolf reach the end of the ramp and climb onto the ring apron together. They step over the top rope and Bladewolf removes his coat and metallic mask, revealing the wolf one underneath, while Kane walks to the center of the ring and begins raising his arms. He throws them down, causing fire to spew from the turnbuckles as the lights return to normal.
They hand their titles to someone at ringside as Bladewolf's theme dies down and they look up at the entrance-way.
The Legion of Doom's music hit and Tony Chimel resumed as the duo make their way towards the ring, "And their opponents. From Chicago, Illinois, at a combined weight of 575 pounds, Road Warrior Animal and Hawk, the Legion of Doom!"
"This will be a first-time encounter between these two teams." Cole stated. "The Brothers of Destruction vs The Legion of Doom. It's bound to be an interesting matchup."
"Interesting is one way to put it in my opinion." Jerry remarked.
The Road Warriors advance to the ring, stepping on the second rope and stick out their tongues before hopping down and remove their spiked vests as their theme dies down.
Bladewolf got out onto the apron, as did Animal, leaving Kane and Hawk to start off for their respective teams.
The referee soon calls for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
They two men enter a tie up and Kane sends Hawk to the ropes and nails him with a big boot.
"Oh! Big boot to the face by Kane." Cole said as Kane runs, bounds off the ropes and comes back with a running elbow drop. "Elbow to the chest of Hawk."
Getting to his feet, Kane grabs and pulls Hawk up to his before going for an Irish whip only for Hawk to reverse it, sending Kane into the ropes before he comes running back... STRAIGHT INTO A POWERSLAM!
"Woah!" Jerry exclaimed.
"Powerslam! Cole shouted with wide eyes. "Hawk just hit a powerslam on Kane!"
"I've never seen anyone do that to him!" Jerry said with a shake of his head.
Hawk covers Kane. "One-!"
Kane kicks out at one, throwing Hawk off him.
"But it doesn't keep the Big Red Machine down." Cole said.
Hawk gets to his feet, as does Kane, and the Road Warrior throws right hands at the Big Red Machine, hoping to chop the big man down but Kane stops that plan dead in its tracks with a nasty uppercut that stuns the opponent.
"Ouch." Jerry winced. "What an uppercut."
Cole nodded in agreement. "I felt that." Grabbing Hawk, Kane brings him over to his corner and tags in Bladewolf. "Tag made to his brother, the Bladewolf."
Bladewolf steps into the ring and delivers a boot to Hawk's midsection, causing the Road Warrior to cough in response while clutching his midsection. Bladewolf then delivers a right hand, followed by another, then another, and then a series of rights that drive Hawk back. Bladewolf mixes in a combo of lefts and rights in an almost MMA-like style, with him ending the onslaught by flooring Hawk with a big right hook to the face.
"Youch!" Jerry exclaimed.
"Big right hand!" Cole added.
As Hawk slowly starts to get to his feet and regain his bearings, Bladewolf walks over to a corner and starts climbing to the top turnbuckle. "We don't often see the Bladewolf go to the top rope." Cole mentioned as the Demon Wolf perched himself on the top turnbuckle, waiting.
When Hawk made it to his feet and started to turn, Bladewolf jumped off... AND CONNECTS WITH A FLYING CLOTHESLINE!
"Oh!" Jerry shouted.
"Flying clothesline connects!" Cole added with a shout.
Bladewolf stands up and flips his hair back, adjusting his right elbow pad briefly, before walking over to the downed Road Warrior. He bends down to grab him... BUT HAWK EXECUTES AN INSIDE CRADLE!
"Oh!" Jerry's eyes widened.
"Cover!" Cole added.
"One!"
"Two-!"
Bladewolf powers out at two.
"And Bladewolf gets out of that one." Cole said.
Bladewolf gets to his feet, grabs Hawk and pulls him up to his feet before kicking him in the stomach and... LANDS A DDT!
"Oh!" Jerry flinched at the impact. "Man..."
"DDT." Cole stated.
Bladewolf gets to his feet and grabs Hawk, looking him in the eye for a moment before he manhandles the Road Warrior into the corner and unloads with a fury of lefts and rights into the midsection, causing hawk to try and cover up, which causes Bladewolf to aim elsehwere on the body, namely at the upper section which makes Hawk have to cover up there but in turn it leaves his midsection exposed and Bladewolf takes advantage to continue the assault.
"Look at how quick those punches are." Cole noted.
"lightning fast." Jerry nodded.
Bladewolf became aware of the referee's count and whirled around to scare him back a little. Bladewolf turns and lands a big right hand, then drags Hawk over to his corner to make the tag to Kane.
"Kane tagged back in." Cole said. "The brothers working well together."
Grabbing Hawk, Kane sends him into the opposing turnbuckle and follows him in for a clothesline and did the same thing with the other corner but Hawk escapes from the turnbuckle at the last second, he waits for Kane to turn around and sends the second youngest sibling of the Undertaker family to the ground with a hard drop kick.
"Oh! Nice dropkick!" Jerry complimented as Hawk makes the tag to Animal. "Uh-oh."
"Here comes Animal." Cole said.
Kane sits up just as Animal comes over and hooks the arm for a suplex. He tries to lift the WWF Tag-Team Champion up but Kane blocks it and counters with his own.
"Nice suplex by Kane." Cole said.
Kane runs off the ropes for an elbow drop but misses, however Kane sits up automatically, the pain striking his nerves forgotten. Standing on his feet, the Big Red Machine stomps on Animal dozens of times and picks the Road Warrior up. He throws the man to the ropes and sends him flying over him via back body drop.
"Ouch!" Jerry flinched.
Kane goes for a cover. "Is this it?!" Cole leaned forward.
"One!"
"Two-!"
Animal kicks out at two.
"Kickout by Animal." Cole said. Kane grabs the Road Warrior and drags him over to his corner where he tags in Bladewolf. "Tag made to Bladewolf."
The Demon Wolf comes in and stomps on Animal repeatedly as Kane gets out onto the apron. Bladewolf pulls Animal to his feet and wrenches on his right arm, ramming his shoulder into Animal's right a couple of times, bringing the man to his knees each time. Bladewolf Irish whips Animal off the ropes and catches him by the throat when he comes running back.
"Animal's caught!" Cole exclaimed.
"Someone's going to fly!" Jerry added.
Bladewolf lifts Animal up... AND PLANTS HIM WITH A CHOKESLAM!
"Chokeslam!" Cole shouted. Bladewolf flips his hair back and does the cutthroat taunt. "The end is near, King!"
As Bladewolf bent down to grab Animal, Jeff Jarrett slide into the ring and clobbers Bladewolf from behind!
"It's Jeff Jarrett!" Cole exclaimed.
"Where did he come from?!" Jerry shouted.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Jarrett brings clubbing blows down on Bladewolf's back as the referee calls for the bell to signal the DQ. Bladewolf shrugs off Jarrett's attacks and grasps the former Tag Team Champion by the throat.
"oh no!" Jerry reacted.
"Jeff Jarrett is caught!" Cole said. Kane walked over and also grabbed Jarrett by the throat. "The brothers have him!"
They lift him up... AND PLANT HIM WITH A DOUBLE CHOKESLAM!
"oh!" Cole flinched at the impact. "Jeff Jarrett drilled into the mat with a double Chokeslam!"
Bladewolf and Kane look at each other before Bladewolf gestures to Jarrett, causing Kane to grab him and scoop him up onto his right shoulder while Bladewolf climbs to the top turnbuckle.
"Oh no." Jerry recognised what they were about to do. "Not this!"
Bladewolf jumps off... AND THEY HIT A SPIKE TOMBSTONE! Bladewolf and Kane stand tall over Jarrett and Bladewolf spots Owen Hart at ringside, staring at the Canadian who wisely backs off.
The referee hands the Brothers of Destruction their Tag Team titles, and they take their leave to the back.
Later,he main event finally came with X-Pac facing Triple H.
In the arena, D-Generation X's music as Tony Chimel announced, "The following contest is scheduled for one fall. Making his way to the ring, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, weighing in at 222 pounds, DX member X-Pac!" The young man did the DX chop and stood on the second before the Corporation theme hit, "And his opponent. Being accompanied to the ring by the European Champion Shane McMahon and the 'Ninth Wonder of the World' Chyna, from Greenwich, Connecticut, weighing in at 260 pounds, Corporation member Triple H!" X-Pac removes his jersey and the referee Earl Hebner had to restrain from attacking the traitor.
Triple H walks up the steel steps, removing his sleeveless shirt in the process.
Had enough of waiting, X-Pac pushes Earl Hebner aside and goes after Triple H.
Hunter avoids the right hand and assaults X-Pac in the corner as the bell rings. X-Pac battles his way out and looks to make Hunter pay for the betrayal last night until the newest member of the Corporation halts his progress then X-Pac reverses an Irish whip, blocks a hip toss and uses Triple H's neck as a springboard to jump over. Hunter runs into the ropes and eats a spinning heel kick but X-Pac doesn't stop. He delivers knife-edge chops before sending the blonde-haired man to the ropes, misses a right hand and Triple H counters with a high knee. He leans against the ropes to shake the effects of the spinning heel kick before punching the Degenerate to the mat. He next bounces X-Pac's head off the turnbuckle and pulls the man out of the corner to land punches then Irish whips X-Pac to the ropes, the native of Minneapolis, Minnesota ducks a right hand and feigns a spinning heel kick, setting Triple H up for the enzuigiri. Finding himself in the corner, Hunter rolls out of the way as X-Pac charges at him and clotheslined the courageous Degenerate. Grabbing hold of the chin, Triple H hammers away at X-Pac's face. Bringing him up by the handful of hair, Hunter chops the opponent back down.
X-Pac assaults his former friend's gut and breaks a side headlock by pushing Hunter to the ropes and lowers his head but Triple H nails the face buster, driving the man's face to his knee. He Irish whips the black-haired man to the opposing and follows him in but X-Pac escapes in time. X-Pac slams his fists to the canvas to motivate himself.
He shouted, "Come on!" He ducks a right hand and counters with a spinning heel kick. Fired up, he Irish whips Hunter only to have the Corporation member reverse. However, X-Pac avoids the right hand and performs the leaping clothesline. Pinning Triple H in the corner, he delivers 2 kicks and another spinning heel kick that sends Hunter to the bottom rope. He backs up in preparation to hit the Bronco Buster but Shane grabs his foot. X-Pac chases the WWF European Champion back into the ring, suckering him in for a clothesline by Chyna.
Seeing this, Earl Hebner calls for the bell making X-Pac the winner by disqualification. Triple H proceeds to pummel the Degenerate and allows Chyna to hit a low blow before planting X-Pac with a Pedigree.
The lights suddenly go out and Burned begins to play, moments later flames explode on the entrance ramp and red light floods the arena.
Kane walks down the ramp adjusting his glove, Triple H tells him to bring it and Kane steps on the apron. He slowly raises his arms then throws them back down, spewing fire from the ring posts and steps over the top rope.
Triple H attacks but Kane knocks him down with an uppercut. Shane strikes him from behind and Kane whips around to produce a glare that made the European Champion hide behind Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler. The younger male McMahon feels a gloved hand cover his mouth and pull him over the security barricade. He gets spun around and the Bladewolf sends him to la-la land using a hard right hook.
Stepping over the barricade, Bladewolf watches his older brother shove Chyna into Triple H who was holding a steel chair, aiming to hit Kane with it while Chyna distracted him. Kane makes them eat a double chokeslam. Bladewolf enters the ring while reaching into his coat and pulls out... THE SMOKING SKULL BELT!
"king, that's the Smoking Skull belt!" Cole said with wide eyes.
"How did he get it?!" Jerry questioned.
Glass shatters and Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme hits as the WWF Champion makes his way down to the ring with his eyes on the Bladewolf who is holding Austin's property. Bladewolf drapes the Smoking Skull title on his right shoulder, watching Austin enter the ring and the Rattlesnake grabs a microphone before getting right in the Demon Wolf's face.
"you can feel the tension between these two." Cole said.
"I have to admit, of all people to hand me back what's mine... you weren't one to consider." Austin said. Bladewolf didn't even blink. "But why in the hell should I trust you to hand that over to me and not attack me when my back is turned?"
"Yeah! Why should he? Do it, Bladewolf!" Jerry wanted to see it.
Bladewolf merely narrowed his eyes at Austin before he took the title off his shoulder and held it out to Austin, who looked back and forth between the championship and the Bladewolf before he reached for the title. As he grabbed it, Bladewolf's hold tightened which made Austin snap a glare to him.
"things are going to blow over, Cole!" Jerry was calling it.
Austin and Bladewolf stared each other down for a couple of seconds before Bladewolf relaxed his grip on the title, but gave it a couple of pats then stepped back from Austin... before doing the title gesture around his waist then pointing at the title.
"That's what the Bladewolf wants, King." Cole said. "He wants to be WWF Champion again."
Austin nods in understanding. "Alright, I don't need words to understand what you're trying to tell me. You've been denied a one-on-one rematch for the title for nearly a year by Vince McMahon. You want a rematch at some point, don't you?" He looked at the fans. "If you want to see a rematch between Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Bladewolf, give me a 'Hell Yeah'!"
'HELL YEAH!' The crowd responded.
Austin nods and looks at Bladewolf. "There you go. At some point, you will get your rematch. When we've finished our separate affairs, we will have that match with the title on the line."
Bladewolf gives a slow nod in response and Austin's theme plays as the WWF Champion takes his leave with the Bladewolf watching him go. RAW is WAR went off the air with Austin holding up the Smoking Skull belt while Bladewolf stared him down from the ring.
And that's it for this chapter, folks.
