A different take on the first book in the JE book series told from Ranger's point of view. Ranger meets the newest bounty hunter working for Vincent Plum Bail Bonding Company. He finds her intriguing and vows to learn more about the curly-haired brunette.

Steph returns home for the holidays after a year away. She discovers some things can't be resolved with just time and distance. It all leads back to him and her hometown, you can run but only so far. Loosely inspired by the song of the same name by Taylor Swift.

I wrote a song, which I haven't done in a over a year. Without having my daughter's electric keyboard, I can't harmonize the music. I could record several renditions by playing my flute and merging them in a program, but it's easier to hear the mistakes on the keyboard. The lyrics to Midnight Rescue is mine. I modified them slightly to fit my story.

Story idea by Harmne (thanks, Babe!) Steph is out of work and takes a job at RangeMan as the assistant housekeeper.

When Ranger is given an unimaginable opportunity to live his life over from an unknown point, he takes the chance to save Stephanie. But he also seizes the opportunity to help people where he couldn't and to avoid making the same mistakes from his previous life. But even seemingly small changes to time can alter destiny. AU. Canon comes into play later.

In the books, Joe says to Stephanie, many times, that she doesn't know who Ranger really is, saying that he is a gun runner, a mercenary and many other things. Maybe Joe knows something she doesn't. This is a much more "covert ops" Ranger. Also a braver Steph, one who knows what she wants, than we've ever seen in the books.

On a not so whim, Carlos takes his daughter north to enjoy the country life. Instead of relaxing, he has to deal with; cows, magic, milkshakes and a strange neighbor. Oh well, it's got his mind busy and Julie seems to like it. (AU, OOCs, OCs, smut later on.) I ANGER! SPOILERS INSIDE

Stephanie agreed to marry Ranger. Then Morelli arrives home from Miami and tells Steph he wants to marry her, too. Now, she has two proposals and no idea what to do. An alternate ending to Dirty Thirty (and an alternate version of a rumoured Thirty-One (Now or Never) storyline). if you know me, you know this story is not a Cupcake HEA.
