Chapter 5
.
Only eight contestants remained. Seven of them had their own theories as to who the killer was, none of them could be certain. Of these eight, there were three factions. Cameron and Kelly had murdered children while on Earth. Sonja and Angel had been sexual predators. The other four, Kendall, Nikki, Amy, and Marissa, were not sexual predators nor did any of them kill kids. Their faction was the same size as the other two factions combined. And as the saying went "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Thus Cameron and Kelly approached Angel and Sonja.
.
Cameron: Let me be blunt, the four of us need to stick together, or the killer might just pick us off one by one.
Sonja: You're right. But the problem is we don't know for a fact that the killer is part of their faction.
Kelly: I watched a lot of reality shows when I was alive, there's usually some twist. One of us would be the obvious choice, but someone from their faction would be a shock. Maybe even the kid.
Angel: Let's not be talking about hurting the kid. Need I remind you that if we kill the wrong person it's automatic "Disqualification."
Cameron: True, but I can guarantee you none of them will vote for one of their own.
Sonja: There's always the possibility of a duel. I think I could provoke Kendall into a duel. She's a schemer, but she has a temper.
Cameron: Problem with that, she kills you, we still won't know if she's the killer. You win, same problem.
Kelly: What do you suggest?
Cameron: We kill them, one at a time.
Angel: We kill them, and they're not the killer...
Cameron: It would mean instant disqualification, unless the killer is the killer. Hypothetically, say I'm the killer. I kill Kendall, and the announcer says she wasn't the killer, but I'm not eliminated. Then you all know that I'm the killer, and you do what you have to do.
Angel: That makes sense, so do we take turns, draw lots.
Cameron: I'll take four pieces of paper, each with a number, 1 2 3 and 4. We each pick one at random. 1 goes first and so on.
Sonja: Yeah, seems as fair as it can be. Let's do it.
.
They each drew a number. Kelly got 1, Sonja 2, Angel 3, and Cameron, who had drawn last, 4.
.
Sonja: Okay, so how do we pick the victims? Do we draw lots for that as well?
Angel: I still say Marissa is the least likely suspect, we should leave her for last?
Cameron: You don't by any chance have a thing for her?
Angel: No, I just don't want to see a kid get hurt. And I realize I probably sound like a hypocrite, but I'd prefer not to hurt a kid if I can avoid it.
Kelly: I think I can get Nikki alone. She kind of thinks we share a bond, being from the same world and all. I know it seems like a dirty trick...
Sonja: I guess none of us have a right to judge you.
Kelly: I better get this over with.
.
Kelly went off to complete her mission, while the other three waited nervously. Finally, they heard gunshots and went in the direction of this sound. Soon Kendall, Marissa, and Amy arrived. But it was not Kelly standing over Nikki's dead body that they saw. It was Nikki standing over Kelly's dead body.
.
Nikki: She tried to kill me. Said how I was her role model once, how maybe the two of us should start working together. Then she pulled her gun, I barely had enough time to pull my own gun and shoot her.
Marissa: So Kelly was the killer, does that mean we all win now?
Cameron: Maybe, or maybe you killed her and lied about her pulling the gun on you.
Kendall: It doesn't matter. If Kelly was the killer, the announcer will say it soon enough. If she wasn't, either Nikki is eliminated, or we'll know she is the killer.
Nikki: It was self-defense.
Cameron: I'm not sure that part matters down here.
.
Sure enough the announcer soon said "Kelly is dead. She was not the killer. Nikki is eliminated." Nikki barely had enough time to scream before the flames engulfed her and she was returned to Hell.
