Chapter 35: Sanguis Famiglia

"did you bring the money?"- a large fat ghoul in a Tux and smoking a cigar, who surrounded by others (also in a tux) said to a small ghoul in rags – "I don't have the money. But I promise I can get it soon"- he begged, the large ghoul then snapped his fingers, and two of his men punched the small ghoul making him fall to the ground in pain – "do you think this is a game Mr. Rossiou. My family and I are bringing ourselves into harms ways to get human meat products, and we are constantly under the Ghoul Hunters association watch because of it"- the two men then pulled up the man so he would stare directly at the boss
"We are helping small ghouls like you, by providing it to you, but only if we receive a reward from it… So unless you want to hunt for yourself, I would recommend that you gain that money quickly" – they then drop him. – "ok let's leave"- he said as he walked to his limousine
*BANG*
They heard the sound of a gunshot and one of the ghoul guards fell dead – "what the fuck?"- the boss said in shock seeing the ghoul guard dead – "Who did this?!"- he screamed in anger as he looked around. The alley they were was only illuminated by one Light post on top of them.
*BANG*
Another shot sounded this time a shotgun one and another ghoul died – "who is doing this!"- one of the ghouls then grabbed the boss – "sir go to the car, is dangerous"- The large Ghoul then punched his guard – "Are you telling me to run away from a coward that hides to kill?!"- he roared
"No he is telling you to run or die"- they heard from where the Limo is. And saw a man in a halfway open black and red hooded jacket, a red t-shirt with a Wolf with batwing ears in the center, a black and crimson breathing mask, black and crimson gloves, jeans, and red and black (ok I used the red and black combo a bit much) basketball sneakers (Ps. I imagine him like an anime hacker boy… google it is you need a better image). Currently, the hood was up but the person wasn't using the breathing mask, which was currently resting on his neck – "And who the hell are you?"- the ghoul asked. Makoto then opened his hand and from under his hood sleeves appeared a liquid, turning into a Katana in his right and wakizashi on his left – "we are the ones who are going to take you down"
"we?"- from the darkness then appeared a group of people falling and killing all the guards. The small ghoul terrified then started to run only for one of the persons, to shoot him in the leg, immobilizing him – "What the hell? You are just a bunch of brats! Who the hell are you to threaten me?!"- He said rising 3 times in size, his arms getting fatter and fatter, and his mouth expanding around his face until only about 3 inches (7.62 centimeters) on the back of his head was connected, opening his mouth like a trashcan. Makoto then got down from his Limo – "we are the new Vigilante group. The Sanguis Family"- The Ghoul then started to trample over to Makoto, breaking the floor as he dashed – "Dual Crimson Moon-Style. New moon"- he said before flash stepping behind the ghoul, who looked in shock as his body was sliced in 4 and died.
"Boss, what should we do about this one?"- Mondo asked him pulling his ax to the small ghoul's neck – "leave him to the Ghoul hunting association, they'll take care of him"- just as he said that they then heard someone running to them. A reaper and a Normal Exorcist appeared on the alley, only to see a small ghoul with a wound on his leg, and the dead bodies of what was one of the most prominent ghoul Mafia families.

They all arrive on the top of a building nearby, where Byakuya (who's new costume was only a change of tux and tie), Kyoko (who was wearing her detective costume), Usami and Sayaka (who was wearing a dark sleeveless tank top with a white collar and a Sky blue tie; she wears a blue belt that has a blue side skirt cover over a black, pleated skirt. She wears it with long black socks and black shoes and was holding her new sword (made by Isayoi)) Makoto immediately took off his hood – "uff, I'm glad that's done"- he said a bit tired before sitting and Usami jumped unto him – "I never thought being a vigilante mafia was so difficult. Sayaka then walked to him, smiling – "how did it go?"- she asked him, making him sigh – "we killed and caught a lot of ghouls to spread the word, but is tiresome"- he complained
"well at least is freer than to submit to the Ghoul Hunters association"- Maki said (Maki was wearing a black coat, a black skirt and a red large scarf – "I mean they wanted to put a shock collar on, for me to work with them. Assholes"- she said pouting – "I'm sorry you had to go through that Maki"- Makoto apologized making her blush a bit – "well it wasn't your fault"
"So what now?"- Asked Mondo (Who was wearing his gangster clothes, comprising of a high-collared black long overcoat with a hood adorned with the symbol of a Wolf with batwing ears symbols, colored Orange on the back and side, worn open over a white A-shirt. He wears baggy black pants held up by a belt and his shoes are white loafers. The buckle of Mondo's belt is shaped like the face of Vampire's teeth, and a large chain on his neck) next to Mukuro (Who was wearing a white sleeveless hoodie, black shorts, a black choker, white gloves, long black socks, and sneakers), Sakura (who was wearing her martial arts clothes, with greaves and bracers) and Izuru (who was wearing a suit)
"I don't know. Jin didn't explain that well"
….
"What I'm going to say to you… is incredibly irregular and nonsensical. But please listen to me before saying anything"- He said and Makoto nodded – "also you Kyoko"- Kyoko then nodded as well. Jin then took a long breath
"I want you to start an Underground Vigilante mafia"
"What!?"- they both asked in unison – "what do you mean?"- Jin then sighed – "After the announcement of the Ghoul Hunting association, they have implemented a new set of rules to follow that interferes with our abilities to interact with the other associations of the Exorcist and Neo exorcist. And because they know we have you the vampire, although they don't know you, they are keeping a watchful eye on us. But if we create a Vigilante/Mafia group that is connected to the reapers but at the same time, is unrelated to the same, we can investigate more easily the other groups. But because of the investigation, they know who all our current captain level Reapers are, except for you. Since we took you down from the reapers, they do not know you, so you as a captain level are the only one available to lead the said team"- Makoto looked surprised before he smiled and looked determined
"Ok, I'll do it… but I want to choose my team myself"- he said surprising Jin – "Ok who do you want to help you"- Makoto then said all the names of the members of his team (Mondo, Maki, Mukuro, Kyoko and Byakuya) followed by those with the potential of reaper (Sayaka and Sakura) and finally finishing with someone who was captain level but wasn't included as a captain (Izuru). Jin looked surprised over his options, before thinking for a while
"Ok, I'll talk with Kijo about this… but I will promise that we will try to get everything you need. And we will keep giving you info about your targets and missions, but at the same time, we will give you the freedom to follow your own missions as well. It's that ok?"- Makoto then nodded
….
"Well I guess that's all for tonight"- he said as he stood. His whole costume (except for his sneakers, jeans and t-shirt disappeared from his body as it turned back into the blood and was reabsorbed by his body – "That ability is rather convenient"- Mondo said, while the other agreed - "Huh?"- he asked and they looked at him – "I mean Naegi-kun, the ability to be ready for combat at any moment is convenient"- Sakura said to Makoto, who just smiled – "well we should go home. We have classes early tomorrow"- Izuru said calmly while the other's sighed

The next day began and Makoto arrived at his classroom and immediately noticed something weird. Leon was wearing a Sanguis Mafia t-shirt and talking to everyone. Makoto then went to where Byakuya was – "Ok what is this?"-he asked and Byakuya showed him an article in his cell
Rebel Kids fight against Ghouls and society
The Ghoul hunter association. A government-controlled group to remedy the current ghoul situation. But are they a just organization? This group of juvenile vigilante believes they aren't. The Vigilante group by the name of Sanguis, has started the process of hunting ghouls themselves.
This group of unofficial ghoul hunters has decided to instead of joining the corporate group of political mediocrity of the GHA, where they follow greed as a method of heroism, to instead show people what the definition of true heroism is by risking their own lives to protect our community, without even asking for a reward.
This proves that even in these dark times of history, people won't leave hope.

Makoto looked in disbelief. Other than the horrible article written, there was a picture of all of them standing, none of the faces (or hairstyles) visible – "really?"- Makoto said surprised – "well we did want to have their attention"- Byakuya said and Makoto sighed – "yeah but not like this"- he complained
"Makoto!"- he then heard as Leon appeared and gave him a t-shirt. Makoto looked confused and looked at it, it was red with the logo of the Sanguis. – "What is this?"- he asked confused – "Haven't you heard the news. The Sanguis Family has become the new heroes of the teens. A group of Vigilantes who take justice on their hands. They have become the new hope for people of our generations"- he said excited – "hell, now teens who wanted to become reapers and exorcists, now want to become members of the Sanguis"- he said and Makoto sighed. Was all of this planned by Jin and Kijo… or was it just random chance?
Perceiving that Makoto was there, the other student then said hi to him. They were all talking about the news. Some excited (like Leon, Hina, and Yasuhiro), others not caring (like Celes) and others embarrassed (like all the ones inf the picture). Hina then walked to where Makoto was – "Naegi, you guys are the Sanguis family right?"- she asked whispering, making him sigh embarrassed. She then giggled – "well I think you guys look cool"- she said and Makoto blushed a little. They kept talking until Celes walked to Makoto
"Makoto I need to talk to you about something"- she said confusing both Hina and Makoto and even some of the other people around – "Um… sure, we can talk outside if you want"- Makoto offered she then nodded softly. Makoto then apologized to Hina, who nodded and they both left the room, walking to a nearby empty classroom, they both entered and Celes locked the door.
"So what is it Celes?"- he asked and she looked embarrassed – "Naegi-kun you can call me by my real name"- she said blushing a bit. Makoto noticed this was important indeed. A couple of months ago he had found out her real name by accident as he accidentally eavesdrops into a conversation she was having with his super hearing. And while at first, she was extremely mad that he not only knew but also eavesdropped into her conversation… eventually, she calmed down, and (while Makoto didn't know) found it rather refreshing to have someone to talk for real from time to time (even though I haven't written anything in the story… sorry) – "Ok what is it Taeko?"- She looked rather nervous or even stressed
"Ok, I'll come open with you. As you know already my real name is not Celestia Ludenberg… but instead, my name is…. Taeko Yasuhiro"- Makoto was in shock, the Yasuhiro family was a really powerful pharmaceutical company in the world, closely as powerful as the Kimuras, especially in Japan. But the real issue was that the Togami and the reaper group knew that the Yasuhiro was deeply connected with Dr. Tsesuna, and there was a high suspicion that it's one of the main distributors of the Dr. But Makoto tried his best to not let his reaction out.
"But wait if you already come from a rich family, why hide it under a fake name? I thought you were faking your name to sound more prestigious"- Makoto asked confused. Celes then looked sadly – "I hate my family"- she said surprising him. Makoto looked shocked and an awkward silence took in
"Do… you want to talk about it?"- Makoto asked gently. And she nodded softly, he was a little surprised, he had never seen her this submissive. Makoto then smiled softly as he pulled 2 chairs close. Celes then smiled softly and sat. Makoto then waited for her to talk, he was letting her talk without pressure.
"You see I'm the only current descendant of the Yasuhiro family, my father is Arakan Yasuhiro the current head of the household. But he is a bastard"- she said really angry, surprising him- "Sorry. It's just that my father never loved me. He wanted a son and when he discovered I was a girl, he resented me. Although I look like this, when I was young I used to be always dressed like a boy, I couldn't enjoy the things I liked and was forced to hide the fact I'm a girl. So I hated growing up there. And even when I worked hard to please him, he would always just ignore me"- she said mad
"and your mom?"- he asked her and Celes looked sad – "that's the other reason he hates me… you see my mom was actually German. She was a beautiful german singer that won my father's cold heart with her songs… but… she died during my childbirth"- She said making Makoto feel bad – "I'm sorry"- he apologized but she just shook her head – "don't worry, I love my mother… the doctor told her early on that if she gave birth to me she would die… but she still did it. She used to believe that everyone should enjoy the beauty of this world… even me"- Makoto looked surprised before a sad face appeared for a second remembering his mom.
"Continuing my story. After I was 10 I found out my talent in gambling and became ecstatic. I was good at this, I was happy, nobody could control me… I was free"- She then giggled – "I left my family and that's when my dream of owning a large European castle with many male servants appeared for the first time"- she said proud and Makoto laughed nervously – "so what's the problem?"- she then looked sad again
"Well… I need you to do me a huge favor"- she said confusing him – "I need you to be my boyfriend"- Makoto's eyes widened in shock over that, and immediately she got flustered – "I mean my fake boyfriend… Remember you are a rank B servant"- she said before calming down – "My dad called, he told me he wanted to talk"- Makoto was a little surprised but mostly confused – "so? Why do you need me to be your boyfriend?"- she then sighed – "Because I'm scared"- she admitted confusing him even more – "He hasn't talked to me in 5 years, but now he wants to… and I'm afraid why"
"but maybe he is worried about you… after all the whole ghoul issue started recently"- he lied… he knew that Yasuhiro wasn't afraid of ghouls… but maybe he was afraid of the Neo-exorcist and their more violent ways, maybe he feared they would take Celes as a hostage – "No it's not that… he wouldn't care if I died on the spot"- Makoto felt horrible listening to her. the confident Celes he knew wasn't there… instead, a really afraid person was sitting there – "I'm afraid that he would try to marry me off to another person to get more power"- Makoto then finally understood… only he knew the truth, and if he went as her boyfriend, maybe he could stop her father
"Yeah sure… I can help"- Celes then smiled a smile he had never seen on her… pure and honest… it felt kind of weird – "Ok it's going to be tomorrow"- she said a bit excited. They both then returned to the classroom and everyone looked suspiciously at them… the way she was smiling wasn't normal… on the other hand, Makoto could feel the death glares from everyone around.

The night started and Makoto and his crew were getting ready for their Ghoul hunting of the day. Makoto stood as his blood-covered him and turned into his costume (Ps. I know the whole blood clothes sound a bit weird, but when it turns it changes into the material, the same way I made ghouls grow hair and turn their bodies, etc) As he got ready (way faster than everyone else) Kyoko then walked to him – "Oh hi Kyoko, what is it?"- He asked smiling with his hood of and his breather resting on his neck – "Makoto can I ask, what are your plans tomorrow with Celes?"- she asked shocking him – "wait how did you know that"
"Before you left Celes had a rather submissive pose, and drooping eyes, signs of stress or problematic issues. She talked to you, and came back smiling, meaning she managed to either get help or that you promised to help her in some way. But it isn't today since you are here. but because you are being a little bit thoughtful means that it is close by and you are planning how to help her… meaning that is tomorrow"- Makoto looked impressed and shocked – "wow… sorry, I'm so surprised it's just sometimes I forget why you are the ultimate detective, that was so cool!"- Kyoko then blushed a bit before looking at him – "So?"
"Sorry I can't say… I promised her"- he admitted and she sighed. She didn't like it… nor wanted to admit it… but she felt insecure about Makoto being so open to other girls – "Um… Makoto?"- she said softly – "do you want to drink some blood?"- She said softly… so no one, except Maki who also had a super hearing, and was shocked and jealous, could hear. Makoto then blushed – "I mean we can't I have to go on the mission and last time… didn't go well"- he said embarrassed – "yeah you are right"- Makoto then noticed how she felt. Makoto could hear her heartbeat… but so could Maki. Who also felt bad, who took a long breath
"Hey Makoto I think we should be going first, if we stay long they may escape"- she said and both Makoto and Kyoko noticed what she was doing. Kyoko then smiled thankfully – "Yeah… I'll follow quickly"- he said the others were a little confused but agreed before they left, leaving Sayaka, Byakuya, Kyoko, and him on the roof. Byakuya then noticed as well and called for Sayaka to help her check the buildings around for any problems
"Wow we have really good friends"- Makoto said smiling. They then looked at each other and kissed again, just like that day, while the kiss was happening Makoto then softly opened her tie, and opened her shirt a bit. After the kiss Makoto then proceeded to slowly get closer to her neck, his fang coming out. Kyoko closed her eyes and twitched softly as his fangs penetrated her neck, a little bit of blood dripping as Makoto sucked it from her neck. After a couple of seconds, he stopped and licked the wound to clean up the blood. Kyoko moaned a bit with his mouth covered. After they separated they were both a blushing mess – "Makoto"- she said making her get his attention – "I love you"- Makoto's eyes widened
"Makoto the ghouls are about to attack, you should go"- Byakuya said – "Ohh yeah…umm…"- Kyoko then nodded and Makoto left. Byakuya then walked to his station – "I'm surprised you would let me do that"- Kyoko then said to Sayaka – "I know you noticed from the beginning"- Sayaka then smiled – "I don't mind sharing… and I know you love him as much as I. So don't get jealous when it's my turn" – she said and Kyoko looked away blushing and mad

The next day came in and as the night settled in, both Makoto and Celes came out of a limo that she had hired, right in front of the Yasuhiro mansion. Makoto was dressed in a suit with a red shirt and black tie and Celes was wearing a gothic theme dress
"do we really have to dress like this?"- Makoto complained a bit as he looked at himself – "Yeah… I want to give my father the impression that we are dating"- Makoto then sighed and held his hand for her, and smiled – "then shall we?"- She then smiled and blushed and took his hand and they both walked to the main entrance.
As a couple of servants opened the majestic doors they walked into the main lounge where a large stairway was – "Good night Taeko is great you managed to arrive"- they both heard from the top of the stairway, they both looked up and Makoto's eyes widened in horror… on top was Arakan Yasuhiro… but the real issue was that Makoto… knew him. He was one of the men who experimented on him long ago. Mr. Arakan then walked down
"Oh! And who is this fine gentleman?"- Mr. Arakan asked shocking Celes. His tone his way of talking… it felt like a real father… and she felt more scared – "oh! This is my boyfriend, Makoto Naegi"- she introduced him, before pushing him a little, breaking him from his trance – "Oh sorry. A pleasure Mr. Yasuhiro"- Makoto said as he shook his hand – "and a pleasure to you"- after they shook hands they all heard as bell sound.
"Oh great! The meal is ready, shall we partake to the dining room?" – he offered and both Celes and Makoto accepted. The three of them then walked to the dining room. A huge dining table with a multitude of chairs. The three of them sat and the servants brought the food. a delicious Ossbuco with Valencian risotto and red wine (for Celes and Makoto instead of some water and juice) and a Parmesan Caprese Salad.
They ate in silence, Celes looking at Makoto every time she felt a little intimidated. After they ate their desserts (tiramisu) the all the just talked – "So how is school Taeko?"- He asked her and she looked a little nervous. But still explained about her life. – "well, that's great. Ok then I guess its time we finally talk about the reason I called you here"- Immediately Celes tensed and Makoto held her hand for support. – "Taeko. I know I haven't been a great father… and for that, I want to apologize. You are all I have as a memory of your mother… but I believe that if we work together… we can bring her back"- Both Makoto and Celes looked shocked… what did he meant – "I believe I found a way to bring your mother back. And for it we need you"- he then snapped his fingers and the room was full of guards… Makoto could sense it, all of them were ghouls. One of them then placed a plate with a syringe on front of Celes – "what is this?"- she asked a little frightened
"This syringe has the ghoulification serum on it"- He explained shocking both the kids – "But is not a simple one, this one has a modified version of the ghoulification abilities, the one injected with it will have the ability to control their own cells and use it to strengthen and heal others. Celes I want you to use it"- his voice got a little colder and Makoto looked angrier – "Why?"
"After she died I kept your mother's body in a cryogenic state to preserve it. Your body is half of your mother, meaning that your cell is compatible with hers. If we use this syringe you may be able to heal your mother and bring her back"- Celes looked shocked and stood up – "are you insane?! You are asking your own daughter to give her life and turn into a ghoul?!"- She screamed angered. Mr. Yasuhiro didn't even react
"I'm doing this for your mother"-he said and Celes started crying – "And what about me?!"- she screamed again – "Taeko… I am your father…and I order you to inject yourself now!"- Immediately the guards grabbed both Makoto and Celes – "let me go!"- screamed Celes
"I guess I will have to use force… take care of the boy"- The guard holding Makoto then sprouted a blade from his arm, and quickly sliced Makoto's neck, before dropping him on the floor dead – "Makoto!"- Celes screamed tears falling and fear sinking in deep into her heart – "Ok men do the procedure"- One of the ghouls then grabbed the syringe and started getting closer to Celes – "Help!"
To the shock of everyone the ghouls who were grabbing Makoto flew thrown to the others who were holding Celes. Celes then fell to the ground in shock – "Damn… I hate it when they cut my throat… is hard to breath"- Celes then heard behind him as a raspy voice became clearer and clearer. She turned back and looked at Makoto, stretching his neck as blood still came from it. Celes then noticed how the wound slowly closed.
"Who the hell are you? And how are you still alive!?"- Screamed Mr. Yasuhiro as he stood, knocking down his chair. Makoto eyes then turned serious, shocking her – "Don't you remember me, Mr. Yasuhiro?"- he said. Arakan looked for a couple of seconds before he widened his eyes – "Impossible it's you!"- Celes looked shocked not understanding what was happening – "The Vampire kid?!"- Celes' eyes widened. What was her father talking about?
"Why are you here?"- he asked Makoto who just shrug his shoulders – "I came to help Celes… Sorry, Taeko. I had no intention of fighting… but I won't let you do that to her"- he said. Celes looked impressed as a liquid substance came from his arms, quickly turning into a scythe. Mr. Yasuhiro was enraged
"What the hell are you waiting? Kill him!"- he screamed as all the ghouls turned into their monsters form. Frightening her. Makoto then slowly walked in front of her – "don't worry I'll protect you!"- Makoto then took his coat off and rolled his sleeves and as it touched the ground a crimson cage appeared protecting Celes – "Bring it on"- Makoto said calmly. The ghouls then dashed to Makoto who quickly jumped to dodge their slash, swinging his scythe and decapitating two of them before landing on the table. All the other ghouls then quickly follow. And Makoto dodged and sliced them one by one. But as he killed them, more and more appeared. Makoto fighting them.
While this happened. Celes looked in shock… she couldn't believe that the sweet herbivore boy that helped her was currently in the middle of this fight. As he fought more and more. Then they started to feel a bit tired. There were too many. In his fatigue he almost wasn't able to dodge one of the attacks, instead of blocking it with his scythe, sending him flying to the middle of the table. Makoto then quickly recovered his posture. He was not in the best conditions to fight. He needed to end this now
"Crimson moon…. Execution-style"- He said ad he widened his legs and placed his scythe behind of him. All the current ghoul then jumped to him from all sides – "Full moon Slash!"- Makoto screamed as he swung his scythe. All the ghouls then stopped mid-air for a full second. Before being sent flying to the wall, by a powerful gale of wind, and sliced in half. Cutting off the whole mansion as well.
After this mayhem, Makoto then looked around. He had noticed that Mr. Yasuhir had escaped in all this kerfuffle. He then unsummoned his scythe and the cage disappeared as well. Celes then stood and walked to Makoto, who had sat on the table tired – "Are you ok?"- He asked her and she softly nodded. He then smiled softly as well – "that's good"- Celes was quiet before she managed to finally say – "Makoto… what was that?"- she asked a little afraid of him. He then softly smiled… and explained in a resumed version all of it… who he was, how his father knew him… and what he was currently doing.
Celes looked shocked and speechless… She couldn't believe it… everything he said sounded like a lie… yet she could hear the sadness on his voice, and knew it was real – "Are you afraid of me?"- he then asked before she noticed she was walking away from him and holding her arms close to protect herself – "it's ok if you are afraid… Believe you wouldn't be the first one"- Celes then looked sadly… she knew that wasn't it… She just felt bad… no matter how bad she was… his life was worse.
"I'm not scared of you… you are my only A rank friend"- she said and he looked confused – "A? I thought I was B rank"- she then smiled and walked close to him, holding his hand softly… basically telling him she wasn't afraid, but instead, trust and cared for him – "Yeah… but you are the only person I truly trust and you saved my life. So I'm upgrading you to A rank".
