Yeah, you are right… I didn't even notice it… and I just re-read the entire story to fix any mistakes and to not create plotholes with the current story. I like the fact that maybe you like this story so a little enough to notice such errors. It makes me happy someone enjoys what I wrote… even after UHA. So thank you.

Chapter 36: Izuru's Anger

….

"You did what!?"- screamed angrily Kijo, after Makoto explained everything that just happened. It was the same night. After what happened Makoto contacted Kijo and Jin, and about half an hour later the places were filled with ghoul hunters (Reapers) and Makoto's team who were in their vigilante costumes.

"Not only did you attack the Yasuhiro family. You revealed yourself in front of a civilian and school member"- Kijo said… Makoto was trying his best to keep a straight face since Kijo didn't know that Hina and Junko knew his secret as well. And the fact that Sayaka and Sakura knew his secret before joining – "well he attacked me first… they sliced my throat"- Makoto complained a bit, making both of them sigh – "well at least we kept the issue at a minimum"- Kijo said calming down – "So did you find something in the mansion?"- Makoto then asked curiously after the reapers did the investigation. Jin then looked serious, Makoto knew that meant really bad news – "We found out something"

"what is it?"- Makoto asked now serious as well. – "We found out records, apparently the Yasuhiro wasn't only working with the Dr. but with the neo exorcist as well"- Makoto's eyes widened – "wait, what? How can that be? He was a loyal follower of Dr. Tsesuna's group. Why betray them now?"- He said confused and shocked – "We don't know, but we found records of his experiments, finding the AV and how to apply it to humans. And we found something even more shocking"- Makoto didn't interrupt he was fully immersed.

"There's another person like you"- Kijo explained, Makoto couldn't understand what he meant… but his shock didn't change at all – "What do you mean?"- Kijo then looked at Jin who nodded – "Your antithesis completely. You see to create the AV they needed your blood as a basis, but instead of using it on its form. What they wanted… was the extracted DNA of the Nosferatu"- Makoto remembered what they meant by the nosferatu. They wanted the same DNA as the monster that turned Makoto into what he was currently. – "After modifying it to reject your version of the blood, they experimented on humans the same way they did with you to find a suitable subject that could accept the modified blood"- Makoto then looked mad… again… this was happening again? Before his eyes widened on his realization – "Wait is it Chiaki-Senpai?"- he asked worried, but each of them shook their heads.

"no, it's not her. We have tested her and we believed that if we had to compare it to someone, it would be Tsumugi or Maki"- Makoto looked shocked before he looked at Maki – "what do you mean?"- He then asked them while staring directly at their eyes – "While we don't understand completely what Tsumugi or Maki truly are, they are clearly not like the ghouls, the control of their abilities, the other ghouls, and their connection with your powers, show that they are something stronger than ghouls. Maki is like that as well, while the normal Neo-exorcist is a human with new abilities and the AV weapons, their power isn't much compared to a normal reaper of ours. But Chiaki, her abilities and power to control other AV show she is an ascended version of them. Like Maki is to ghouls"- Makoto understood then what he meant. She was the middle, between Grunts and the true head of the AV – "So is it Kazuo?"- he then asked and again the just shook their head – "We don't know who the head of the AV is and why is he following the Neo exorcist, but Makoto the biggest issue isn't that"- Jin said seriously confusing Makoto – "If our theory of the similarities between Chiaki and Maki are true… then that means, that just like how were you the one who turned Maki into what she is… The head of the AV personally turned Chiaki into what she is now"

Currently, Celes was talking with the crew. She was still a little shocked over what happened a while ago but was most surprised to see her classmates all wearing their costumes and prepared. She knew that Mondo was one, but didn't expect Mukuro, Maki, Sakura, Sayaka, Byakuya, Kyoko, and the upperclassman Izuru to be also part of the ghoul hunting world – "It's quite a shock So you all knew Makoto's secret?" – she asked seriously, leaving everyone silent – "and not only that you been also working with him"- She said noticing everyone except Mondo, who she knew was already part of it. – "well we couldn't spread it"- Said Sayaka a little defensive

"I see so the friendship you guy was talking about was a lie"- Celes said acting hurt and tearing up, making everyone (except Kyoko, Izuru, and Byakuya) feel bad – "Stop with the games Celes, They will feel bad"- They all then heard Makoto say as he walked to where they were. Celes was a little surprised as she saw that Makoto's clothes had changed – "well they should be… how dare they hide this secret from me?"- she said mad and Makoto laughed embarrassed – "So what were you talking with Jin and Kijo?" – Izuru asked plainly to Makoto, who looked blankly for a second before smiling again – "Not right now Izuru… I'll tell you later"- he said shocking everyone – "It's it that bad?"- Kyoko then said thoughtfully – "Yeah it is"- Makoto then looked at Celes – "By the way, your escort car is here Celes. But before you leave may I ask you a question?"- he asked, confusing her but she nodded –"what are you going to do now?"- he then asked her – "huh?"- Makoto then smiled a bit – "well now you know our secret… so I was curious about what you are going to do with that info?"- Makoto asked her and she sighed – "Makoto… you know me better than that, do you think I would blackmail any of you. I mean maybe the monkey of Mondo, but he isn't worth it"- she said as Mondo's face twitched with anger

"Yeah I guess you are right"- Makoto said smiling a little ashamed of his questioning, Celes then walked to him – "And after all"- She said confusing him before she planted her lips unto his, shocking everyone. She then separated – "I still have to show you your privileges as a rank A"- she said before leaving to the escort car, and while nobody could look at her, she smiled and blushed.

"What was…."- but before he could finish he dodged as Maki's hair tried to crush him – "Makoto, how can you let your guard down?"- Maki said enraged – "wait, Maki, that…"- but before he finished he looked scared as Sayaka started pulling her sword, and both Mukuro and Kyoko pulled out their guns – "well we will be leaving"- Byakuya said, as he started to leave with Sakura, Izuru and Mondo - "See you in classes Makoto"- Mondo said

The next day started and Makoto was in the classroom. And while he had healed, he still felt the fatigue of the beating everyone had given him. Everyone entered the classroom seeing the tired Makoto – "Hi guys"- Makoto said his face perfectly showing how he felt. Everyone then said hi to him, except the girls who were mad at him.

Celes then entered and noticed Makoto, before quickly covering her face and dashing to her desk. Makoto then sighed – "maybe I should quit" – He complained – "Makoto can we talk?"- he then heard looking up, seeing Mondo in front of him – "Sure"- Makoto and Mondo then walked outside. Making everyone suspicious, especially after what happened with Celes.

Makoto and Mondo then walked out – "So? What is it, Mondo?"- He asked before Mondo looked at him – "Makoto… yesterday Neo Exorcists attacked Suzie and Terra and now both of them are in the Hospital"- Makoto's eyes widened and he looked mad – "So they are moving again"- Makoto said madly. Mondo then punched the wall and because of his strength he cracked it – "Makoto we can't wait any longer, we have to take the offensive"- Mondo said his anger filling him

"Mondo calm down, we can't let our emotions take control"- Makoto said clam and serious. Angry over his state Mondo then grabbed Makoto's hoodie and pulled him up – "How can you be so calm? How many are they going to hurt before we do something:- Makoto then laughed a bit – "Calm?!"- he said through his laughter, surprising Mondo.

Makoto then looked at Mondo's eyes, and Mondo got stunned. His eyes looked calm, but you could feel the raging storm of anger inside him. It was like staring a demon made out of pure darkness. Afraid Mondo let him out. Makoto then took a long breath before he calmed down. He then smiled softly and looked at Mondo – "let's keep talking tonight, our classes will start soon"- Makoto said before walking to the classroom. Mondo on the other hand was stunned because he always saw Makoto as a happy go lucky type of guy, who tries his best to just go with the flow. He never fully took him seriously, yeah there had been moments where Makoto became more serious and fought… but only now, he would realize… the heavy, suffocating rage that Makoto always carries, and how he, instead of, rejecting it, lashing out, and releasing it to the world to see, he fully accepts it and absorbs it to not hurt the people he cares for. He turns his anger into determination… something that now…. Mondo wanted to learn.

The night fell and the group reunited again. They were all waiting for Makoto to explain. Makoto then took a long breath – "what I'm going to tell all of you will cause a lot of commotion, but try your best to keep calm"- he said, making everyone worried. What could he be talking about?

Makoto then explained everything, leaving everyone in shock… but the biggest shock came from Izuru… the person Makoto was worried about the most. Who was enraged – "I know its hard news… but like I said we have to…"

"Like hell, we have to!"- said angry Izuru, scaring some of them with his sudden change – "How can you tell us to stay here and not do anything?!"- Mondo was shocked… he could feel exactly how Izuru felt, his anger was pouring out – "Izuru, I understand that you are angry… but we can't just lash out against the Neo exorcist"- Izuru then walked over to him, staring directly at him – "Makoto how can you say that? They attacked and turned Chiaki, we finally have a clue of who did it and we know where they are. It's the best time to engage into attacking them"- Makoto looked at him – "we can't simply go and attack them, if we were to initiate a raid against the Neo Exorcists, without showing a reason to the public… we just would add to the chaos"- Izuru looked angrier and angrier.

"that why we became a mafia and Vigilante group. Jin and Kijo explained we have to sway the population to our side before we can force a change"- He explained and Izuru looked serious – "So how many people are going to suffer for that to happen?"- Makoto looked away hurt, before staring at Izuru – "I don't know…but…"- but before he could finish, Izuru then punched him making him fall

"Makoto!"-Said worried and shocked as she got closer to him to help him – "If you won't do anything I will!"- Izuru then said as he started to leave – "Izuru if you go you will die"- Makoto said Izuru then looked at him – "well if I do… Then that means I'm just weak"- He then left.

After a couple of minutes he then heard – "Izuru-senpai wait"- he then heard before looking back seeing Mondo – "What do you want Mondo Owada?"- Mondo then looked determined at him – "I want to help you"- he said Izuru then looked suspicious – "And why is that?"- Mondo then looked away – "I want to be like Makoto… how he can keep his anger inside, how he can keep calm for everyone's sake, I truly wish I could, but I can't. Those bastards hurt my friends, and I can't forgive them"- Izuru could notice his determination and just turned around – "don't slow me down"

Back in the group, Kyoko was looking at Makoto, who was sitting in the border of a building, looking at the two of them leaving – "why didn't you stop them"- Kyoko asked him and Makoto sighed – "They decided for themselves. I can't force them to change their mind"- Kyoko looked sadly before she sat next to him – "How are you?"- she asked as he looked sadly – "I don't know… I want to help them… but I understand how important it is to keep the order"- Makoto said – "So what are you going to do?"- Makoto then looked away thinking.- "I don't know"- He said as he felt something nearby, something he found familiar – "what is she doing?"

Hours passed and Mondo and Izuru finally arrived at the enemy's base while on their bikes. The base was about 20 kilometers from Fuyuki, near a ravine. As they parked on the top of the ravine they both pulled binoculars seeing the base. The base looked like an air force facility. With guards all around without weapons

"Why are they unarmed… are they that confident?"-Mondo asked confused, making Izuru sigh – "they are all Neo Exorcists, that means they all have AV weapons. We need to infiltrate somehow, but there is no way in"

"Maybe I can be of assistance"- they then heard behind them, Mondo looked back, but Izuru didn't it – "I see, that's why you were following us, Tsumugi Shirogane"- Izuru said while Tsumugi smiled next to Korekiyo – "What the fuck?"-Mondo said while pulling his Ax. As a reaction, Korekiyo hand then turned into sand. Tsumugi then rose his hand – "Calm down Korekiyo, we didn't come to fight"- Tsumugi said calmly while both Izuru and Mondo looked suspiciously at them – "so what are you doing here Tsumugi?"- Izuru said grabbing his gun-blade – "I came to help you Izuru senpai"- Izuru felt even more suspicious about her intentions – "The Neo-exorcist injured my Makoto. So I want to get my revenge on them. And since you want to beat them… I thought we could help each other"- She said with an evil smirk. He didn't answer but she smiled anyway – "I'll take that as a yes. Just infiltrate when Korekiyo gives you the signal" – She said as she started walking away with Korekiyo

"Why do you care so much about Makoto Naegi?"- Izuru asked suspiciously, she the looked at him grinning – "I guess is the same reason you are here for Chiaki Nanami"- Izuru then glared at her – "well just get ready"

The two of them then stayed silent while waiting for their untrustworthy plan with Tsumugi – "Izuru senpai, can I ask you something?"- Izuru then looked at him uninterested – "What is our plan?"- He asked and Izuru sighed – "I don't know"- he admitted surprising Izuru – "really… I mean normally you always have a plan prepared"- Mondo said and Izuru closed his eyes thoughtful - "I know… but this time… is different"- Mondo listened and Izuru smiled a bit, surprising Mondo – "Makoto was right… we shouldn't have come here today, we should have prepared first and then together fought them"- Mondo looked sadly as well – "then why did we come?"- Izuru then looked forward

"I don't know… although I know what is the best course of action, something inside of me is chaining me here"- Mondo then sighed surprising him – "I guess we are more similar than I thought."- he said confusing him – "Although we both don't almost anything similar… right now we are similar. I understand how you feel because I feel the same way"- Izuru looked a little surprised over his word – "When Makoto showed me his rage and how he tried to keep it calm, at first for a little while, I wanted to be like him. But when you reacted, I found out that I'm more like you, Although you don't want to admit it… Sometimes, both you and I are people who can't calm down… not until we have done what we believe is right, even if it means doing something stupid. I came here to avenge my friends who were hurt by the Neo exorcists, and you have your reasons to be here as well. So since we are both stupid let's help each other in our stupid endeavor, and later we will laugh of this"- Izuru wanted to reject everything he said… But something deep inside told him he was wrong, it felt that wasn't himself but at the same time… it was more himself than him. Izuru then smiled

"Well, then we better make this count. After all, I don't think I'll do something stupid again"

*BOOM!*

The two of them reacted as a siren started loudly sounding. They both then looked at the base and their eyes widened as they saw all the Neo exorcist fighting against a huge army of Ghouls – "what the hell?"- Asked in shock Mondo, while Izuru got mad – "I see, That bitch lied to us… They were already planning to attack the Neo exorcist before we even came here" – Mondo then looked at him – "So what now?"- Izuru then took off his binoculars – "Although I hate playing into her hands this is the best opportunity to infiltrate the base and take it down from the inside"- Mondo then nodded and they both then got on their Bikes, before quickly riding to the base from the other side where the attack was happening. As they got closer they noticed that while there was little resistance, there were still neo-Exorcists. After they were spotted they summoned their AV weapons and started shooting at them.

They both then started swirling on their bikes dodging the bullets. Until they got near the fence, where Izuru pulled his gun and shot down the hinges, and brought it down, They both then jumped off their bikes, attacking a couple of Neo exorcist, they both then dashed, taking down the small quantity of Neo exorcist around, before going inside the base. Inside the base the path they both dashed deeper and deeper in. noticing the lack of security – "Be careful Mondo"

"Yeah you wouldn't want to be taken by surprise"- a white hooded man said right between both of them. The two of them looked shocked and quickly attacked the hooded person, who jumped and fell in front of them. – "Wow, wow calm down guys, I don't want to cause problems"- he said, while the two stared daggers at him. Izuru could feel it, this person was different from the others, there was this feeling.

"So, you are the source of the AV?"- Izuru asked surprising the hooded man – "Oh so you know about that. Oh well, I guess it was just a matter of time"- Both of them then got ready to fight – "Hey! Hey! I don't want to fight!"- the hooded person said raising his hands – "What do you mean you don't want to fight, we are your enemy"- Mondo said surprising the hooded man – "No you aren't my enemy, my enemy is only the ghouls and Makoto the vampire, you guys are the Hope"- As those words came out of his mouth Izuru's eyes widened. His voice, the way he talked – "Nagito?"- Mondo's eyes widened and he looked at Izuru, before looking at the hooded person. Nagito then took off his hood – "I expected no less from Izuru-kun the Ultimate Hope"- Nagito said smiling – "Why did you do this Nagito-senpai?"- asked Mondo confusing Nagito – "What do you mean Mondo-kun, I did it to protect the hope of humanity, by killing the ghouls and the Vampire, I can help keep the Hope"- Mondo looked a little shocked, his eyes showed that he had no doubt, he truly believed he was doing the right thing – "and what about the people who get hurt who aren't ghouls?"- Mondo asked – "well In war there are always sacrifices"- he admitted making him angry - "see? My job is to help the hope stay alive I don't want to fight, how about we stay as friends?"

"If that is true, then why Chiaki?"- Izuru asked surprising and confusing Nagito – "what do you mean?"- Izuru then looked calmly at him – "She was a human, with no reason to fight, and yet you turned her against her will"- Nagito then sighed – "I didn't want to hurt her, but she was protecting Makoto. I tried to make her find reason, but she denied it and instead decided to help him so I had no choice, it was the only way to save her from that monst….."- but before he could finish a gunshot slit his cheek – "Shut the hell up" – Nagito looked a bit surprised over the sudden attack and sighed – "I see... you guys also need to be saved"- he said, Izuru eyes then widened before he grabbed Mondo and Jumped backward pulling Mondo with him, just as a white spike appeared from the ground

"Impressive, nothing less expected from The ultimate Hope"- Nagito said impressed and hopeful – "But I still need to save you"- the floor then started producing more and more spikes, which both Izuru and Mondo dodged – "Fuck this is fucking annoying!"-Screamed Mondo as he broke the spikes with his ax to create more room to dodge. Izuru on the other hand was more mad than annoyed, he then quickly noticed that unlike Mondo, the spikes targeting him were more in quantity. As he jumped back to dodge another attack he soon noticed that while in mid-air a bunch of spikes sprouted from the floor targeting him as the spikes grew closer the squinted his eyes – "Time gear!"- he said as a gear appeared in his eye and the world turned slower. After his fight with Makoto, he had spent his time training this technique. What he was doing wasn't slowing time. Instead what he was doing was increasing the speed of absorption and process of info and reaction of his body. In this state, he quickly put his hand on one of the sides of the spike, before pushing himself from the danger and landing on a safe spot. Nagito looked shocked, how could he do that? As he landed Izuru felt a sharp pain on his head, like a migraine, processing so much information hurt, knowing that he didn't have enough time he decided to go to the offensive. He then dashed forward as spikes appeared, He quickly dodged each attack as he got closer and closer. In desperation Nagito then summoned a wave of spikes in front of him. But then looked shocked as noticed that Izuru wasn't there, he then felt chills on his back as he noticed a sword on his neck – "that's enough Nagito you lost"- Izuru said coldly, his eyes no longer in gear mode. Nagito then gulped. Izuru's eyes widened as he barely managed to dodge an Av sword that attacked his spot. As he landed his eye narrowed – "So you are Naegi's mother?"- He said as he looked at Martel in front of him.

"Martel I ordered you to stop de ghoul invasion" – Nagito said a little angry – "The pope Kazuo ordered me to keep you safe first overall. He has also sent a retreat alert, now!"- She said making him sigh – "That also means I have to stop going to school doesn't it?"- he asked, but she didn't answer, making him sigh even harder – "well Izuru, Mondo I guess this is goodbye"

"Like hell, we will let you leave"- Mondo said pointing his shotgun at him – "I know, but you should concentrate more on what is on top of you"-Mondo's eyes widened and both he and Izuru jumped back as a couple of Neo exorcist fell from the sky stabbing the spot where they were. They looked a bit surprised before they looked around seeing a bunch of Neo exorcists – "Make sure to take care of yourselves"- Nagito said smiling before Martel threw a smoke bomb and when the smoke dissipated they weren't there.

"Fucking dammit!"- screamed enraged Mondo as he and Izuru started fighting against the Neo Exorcists, taking them down one by one. But the mere quantity of Neo exorcist was too much. After almost 10 minutes of fighting, they were back and back tired as the exorcist surrounded them – "Fuck… what should we do Izuru Sempai?"- Mondo asked between his breaths, Izuru looked around his eyes strained and red, there was no escape in sight – "I guess we can only keep our ground and try to survive"- He said as he got ready. The Exorcist then dashed forward ready to fight.

When a gunshot stopped them in their tracks, shocking them before seeing where it came from. From the ceiling Makoto and his team (Mukuro, Maki, Sakura, Sayaka) – "Naegi-kun?"- Izuru said shocked, why was he here? – "We came as back up"- Makoto explained the question he knew was on Izuru's mind – "But…"- but then his eyes widened over the realization, they were technically doing their job by stopping the Ghoul invasion. Wait does that mean Tsumugi called Makoto somehow? He stared deeply at Makoto and his eyes widened when for a second he could swear he saw a spectral type lady before it disappeared as fast as it appeared.

Before they started Makoto turned his hands into Gauntlets – "All these people are humans so make sure to not kill them"- the others nodded – "Also Sayaka since is your first official fight make sure to stay close to me"- Makoto said blushing a bit, making Izuru sigh and Sayaka blush – "Pay attention Naegi" – Izuru said also getting ready.

"Ok let's do this"- Makoto said as they all dashed in. Starting with Mukuro you see her holding tranquilizer guns, she would quickly dodge and shoot them one by one – "Mukuro you are an exorcist, why join with the demon?"- one of them with a chainsaw, Mukuro looked unimpressed – "better that ending like a pawn"- She said as she shot him in the face, knocking him out.

Sakura fought by using her martial arts. Her body calm and collected as she parried all the Av weapons and using her Ki to knock them out in one strike – "What the hell, why can't we beat a single person?"- Said a Neo exorcist with a spear as he dashed to attack her. Sakura then parried his spear before pulling the spear and hitting him with his elbow KO him immediately.

Mondo just bestially took down each of the Exorcist as fast as possible, going into what looked like a berserker moment. On the other hand, Maki would knock them out by turning her hair into large hammers and hitting each of them, but at the same time being rather careful to not be hit by their AV weapons. Izuru who was tired just was giving support by shooting each of them on their legs

"Kill the Demon!"- Screamed a large man, before Makoto punched him in the face. A large group of neo exorcist surrounding both Sayaka and Makoto. Makoto (using the little he knew about martial arts from Sakura) fought them While Sayaka was using the back of her sword – "Why aren't you using Crimson moon-style?"- She asked curiously as she fought – "Well I'm trying to learn unarmed techniques from the Crimson moon-style"- he said as he fought surprising her – "wait there are unarmed techniques?"- she said a little surprised – "Yeah one or two I guess dad hasn't told about it yet"- Sakura then blushed a bit – "Well I guess all in good time, but honestly I like how beautiful your swordsmanship is"- he said honestly, making her blush. Their eyes widened before they both dodged an attack from a great hammer. They looked where it came from and saw an almost 7 feet tall Exorcist in armor appeared in front of them – "HAHAHAHA so this little pipsqueak it the Demon. After I kill it I will become a hero HAHAHA"- Both Sayaka and Makoto then looked at each other before Makoto's Gauntlet became a reverse blade Katana

"Crimson Moonlight- Style"

"New moon Slash!"- they said as Makoto swung his sword and Sayaka appeared behind the goliath of the man. A second passed and both his face and chest were struck, breaking his armor and his nose.

After 10 minutes of fighting the ghouls then finally managed to rush in, seeing the opportunity Makoto and his team managed to escape. As they ran through a passageway Makoto then felt Ezio stop him – "Makoto?"- Maki then asked getting everyone's attention who stopped as well. Makoto then looked back and sighed – "Actually I have something I have to do"- He said, everyone looked either suspicious or worried – "Then I'll stay with you"- Maki said. Makoto was going to say something… but noticed she wasn't going to give in – "Ok. Maki and I will stay you guys guide Izuru and Mondo outside"- the others then nodded and left. Sayaka, on the other hand, looked worried – "It's going to be ok"- he said, Sayaka smiled softly and nodded, before she left. After they were out of earshot Makoto turned serious.

"what is it Tsumugi?"- Makoto said as he and Maki turned around and from the end, both Tsumugi and Korekiyo walked in, she was pouting – "Why is that home breaker here?"- She asked looking at Maki, making her mad – "Tsumugi… why are you here?"- He asked her and she smiled – "well I wanted revenge… they hurt you, so I wanted to pay them back"- Makoto looked sad, he was going to say something when – "Tsumugi-Sama we have to leave"- Korekiyo said making her pout again – "What, I haven't seen my Makoto in so long… it's not fair"- she pouted but Korekiyo stern look didn't change – "Ok"- she said mad, before looking at Makoto – "Bye Makoto…. I love you"- she said with a smile before a cloud of sand covered her – "Do you believe you can save her?"- Asked Maki, making him sigh

"I hope so"
