Chapter 41: double down

After a couple of minutes, they all arrived in a room. It was an empty dark room, the trio stayed close to the doorway while the Dr. stepped in, as he goes the center 4 pillars of light appeared and from them the faces of the heads. One of them being Arakan Yasuhiro.

"good afternoon gentlemen"

"cut the crap Dr. Tsesuna!"- Screamed one of the men in the hologram – "Why haven't you shown results for our Immortality?!"- The man looked enraged over the Dr. ineptitude. The Dr. then sighed hard, trying to keep his anger over their stupidity deep inside him – "to create a perfected Serum and a way to control the Ghouls correctly we need the Vampire. And the Ghoul association is making sure we can't get him"

"That's a lie, you could start the process if you used Tsumugi's DNA and upgrade it with the Vampire's one"- Explained Araka. Making the Dr. Laugh – "OHOHOHO, So now I must take suggestions from a traitor"- He said while Araka got mad and almost screamed only for the one in the Center to order them to calm down. After they did the Center one then talked – "Dr. While we understand your fascination with the Vampire and its abilities, do not forget why you were recruited. You have spent a lot of our time and resources on your escapades and investigations. But I believe is time you use that information for our purposes"- The Leader of Hive said. The Dr. then sighed as the trio behind looked enraged, how dare they talk to him like that – "Please do not disappoint"- and just like that the holograms disappeared. The Dr. then took a long breath. He was quite mad.

"Well I guess we have to start" – he said as he started to leave the room – "Master does that mean we have to go get the Vampire?"- asked Rakdos, but the Dr. laughed – "No my child, not yet, he still needs some growing to do"- Rakdos looked mad, why did he always think in the vampire with such pride – "Sir may I ask a question?"- Rakdos asked and the Dr. paid attention – "Why do you care so much for that Vampire, with your level of expertise you could create another, why that one specifically?"- he asked and the Dr. laughed even harder – "It's impossible to create another one"- he said, surprising them – "You see the sample we had turned into dust as the Vampire was born. Proving that apparently, only a certain number of these beasts could populate the world at a certain time. But the reason I treat this one more specially… is because I want him to grow naturally"- he then noticed they were confused, and sighed – "I have to explain everything? Ok, Rakdos… how did you become stronger?"- he asked confusing him since it was thanks to the Dr. that he grew – "Yeah, but adding more water to water doesn't change the composition of it. When I experimented on making you all rise with more power, my only objective was to increase your battle strength not to make you evolve as a Ghoul. So when you did… I asked myself what could have caused such a sudden change and then it came to me… It was him"- They looked confused – "At first ghouls were weak when he rejected his blood and didn't want to learn it's potential, but as he grows more and more accustomed to his Vampire abilities so does the blood of ghouls grow. The same way that Hulkian ghoul managed to level up"- They were shocked if what he said was true that meant – "exactly as Makoto grows stronger, even if he doesn't know it… so does the ghouls"

Sayaka was deep in thought. Even after a couple of days of pure thought, she still was fighting herself to find what she truly wanted. – "Sayaka"- she didn't listen, she was too deep inside her own mind. She still didn't know what to do… should she stay with Makoto… or stay with her dreams. Why? Why she couldn't have both? It wasn't fair.

"SAYAKA!"- she finally broke up her thought bubble and noticed Makoto in front of her – "Sayaka the sword training is done for today, dad even left"- he said, confusing her at first until she finally remembered. She had gone today with Makoto to their training, but was to distracted to actually do anything- "are you ok? You were silent today"- he said a bit worried about her. Seeing this was the case she then blushed – "Sorry I was… thinking about something"- she said a bit ashamed before she felt sad. Makoto then looked worried at her – "Sayaka are you really ok?"- She then looked at him and his kindness only made her feel worse. He was so kind and caring, but it was that same Kindness that made it so hard for her to think. Makoto then sighed and he offered to sit on the edge of the dojo. She smiled softly and nodded, following him and they sat.

They stayed in silence as the wind breezed through the leaves, and they could see leaves shaking, it was a beautiful sight. In truth, Makoto wanted to ask her again but at the same time didn't want to force her to talk to him, and she appreciated that. But she knew she needed to talk – "Makoto… If I asked you to turn me into a Dhampir… would you do it?"- she said breaking the silence and surprising him a bit, he then went thoughtful as he analyzed the question. – "well… If that was what you wanted… I guess I would"- he said honestly, but then he smiled at her – "But that isn't what you want isn't it?"- he said, but she looked away, the silence returning.

"Makoto… if someday… what Tsumugi said would end up happening, and I betrayed you for my Idol career… would you hate me for it?"- she didn't know why she was asking, she already knew the answer, it was impossible for someone as kind as him to hate.

"I don't know"- her eyes widened as she was not expecting that answer. She then looked at him and she noticed he was giving a sad soft smile – "surprised? I guess you weren't expecting that answer"- he said, as she listened closely, why? – "You all put me in this pedestal thinking that I'm a good person, but that isn't true"- he admitted – "in reality, I don't like humanity all that much either, for all the same reason Tsumugi said"-Sayaka was shocked she never expected the sweet kind Makoto to say something like that.

"Then… why? Why do you protect them? Why do care about… us?" – she asked now afraid of the answer, Makoto then sighed – "before I answer you, can I ask you a question?"- She looked curiously but nodded – "why did you want to become an Idol?"- he asked and she looked surprised before she gave it thought.

"When I was young I was raised by my father alone. He was always working, so I would spend a lot of time alone in the house… and although I wasn't unhappy, cause I knew my father loved me. I felt alone a lot of times. But then one day I saw a show another Idol did, and my soul got excited. When I saw her I felt happy, I didn't felt lonely, It was like I was with her enjoying the party, and ever since that day after school, I would keep watching shows after shows. I became obsessed with Idols and wanted to become one as well. I wanted to be like her, I wanted to inspire people and be there for them… so I worked hard and well… Here I am"- she said smiling, making him smile too.

"see? That is the reason"- he said confusing her – "Yeah not all humans are nice, and not all humans are even good people. But some are, some that are kind, caring, selfless like you"- he said making her blush – "and for those people, I fight, and work hard. In this dark world, I want to protect them so they can share that light with others and maybe one day… Humans won't be as bad"- he said as he smiled dreamful, but in her eyes, she was surprised. The way he smiled, the way the wind rustled his hair… he looked cute, but most of all what he said struck deep into her heart. He honestly didn't like humans that much… but at the same time, he loved them, that is why he wished to create a peaceful world for them. And for it, he was willing to take any type of step to get to that goal… he was willing to sacrifice himself for his dream.

Instead, for her dream, she wasn't willing to give away anything. She wanted her dreams to come true, but wasn't willing to sacrifice herself for it, she needed to fix that. But at the same time, she noticed… her dream wasn't to become an Idol… Instead… her dream had always been to help others and make them happy, to give them hope just like that idol gave to her, and being an Idol was just a step in fulfilling her dreams. She didn't require to be an Idol for her dreams to become true, but instead, she knew in her heart, that for her dreams and happiness to be real… Makoto needed to be part of it… she loved him, so she had to work hard for her new dream. To create a world where Makoto and everyone could also live happily. Her heart spoke to her and she listened closely, yeah she knew she had to make sacrifices, but she wouldn't…. no…. could not give up Makoto. If in the end, she could not be an Idol… well, tough luck, she would find another way to help others, but she would do it with Makoto at her side.

Makoto looked happy as it looked like Sayaka had found her answer to her dilemma – "well feeling better?"- he asked and she smiled with her whole heart – "Yes, thank you Makoto"- she said making his heartbeat rise and his face turn red, he had never seen her as beautiful as she did that day, the wind dancing with her hair and her pure-hearted smile, struck like an arrow directly to his heart. – "no problem"- he said a bit shily, they both then looked at each other, and went silent again. As he softly closed his eyes and moved to her, and she moved to him while closing her eyes, and their lips finally connected in a loving embrace. She loves him and he knew… he loved her

Junko felt irritated, like… something was missing in her life… something important. What was it? As she looked around her head trying her best to find her answer, she accidentally hit the controller turning on the tv. Just then she looked at it and the news was rolling. – "After the situation has calmed we finally have the full information about what happened. A couple of days ago the Jail named "the Funhouse" or "the Ghoul Jail" was suddenly attacked by a group of ghouls to release their kind and cause chaos. Although the total numbers of deaths haven't been fully released, it has been estimated to be around 24 deaths and 51 injured"- Junko listened and felt a little bad for them… and it was then that her eyes widened.

* wait… why am I feeling sad for these people? * - She thought, it was weird. Instead of feeling sad of compassionate… she should be feeling glad. After all, this was the despair she loved. So why did she felt this way, yeah it was true that after Makoto and finding out Mukuro's secret her obsession for causing despair had gone down… but that wasn't a reason to not enjoy it. Wait, was she turning into a good person?

Immediately she felt angry, it couldn't be possible, she was the despair queen, the ultimate despair, Not only she should be enjoying despair she should be making a feast. The world had fallen into despair, with the ghouls on the hunt and the fear they brought, the world was in the same state of despair she always wished, yet she didn't feel glad.

It must have been Makoto… yeah… somehow his hopeful acting must have rubbed off on her… and she hated it. How dare he try to change her… She was Junko motherfucking Enoshima. Nobody could change her… She was the Ultimate despair… and maybe it was time she should show them, what true despair is. Just as she said that she then noticed Makoto and Sayaka walking back to the school… Yeah… maybe she could do that.

….

The next day arrived, and Makoto was summoned with both Byakuya and Kyoko. They arrived at their office and entered, only to notice that other than Kijo and Jin were also Dio and Kyosuke – "Good afternoon, could you please close the door?"- They nodded and Kyoko then closed the door. As they did that they all stood. Kijo then sighed heavily

"I thank that you all came"- He started – "I called you all here to talk about the recent attack at the Ghoul Jail"- He said – "Although the way the attack happened hasn't been made public, we have surveillance video of the full attack… please watch"- as the video played out immediately Kyoko, Byakuya, and Makoto's eyes widened, as they recognized Rakdos and the others. Makoto then gave a sad stare as he looked at Luzia killing, maybe… in the end… he will have to kill her, and he felt bad for Leon, but at the same time undenounced by them Jin had noticed their reaction.

"Sadly we don't know who these people are so we have no clue what was their purpose on releasing that ghoul"- Kijo said sighing – "That isn't true… isn't Makoto?"- Jin said accusing him, shocking everyone, especially Makoto… who knew he had to come out clean… a bit – "Yes I know them… I have fought them before"- he said shocking everyone – "They are Dr. Tsesuna's elite ghouls"- Immediately Kyosuke looked at them

"When did you fought against them?"- He asked madly – "The fight we had at school was against them. They were once again trying to kidnap me"- he said, and Jin analyzed what he said – "Again? So you have fought them before?"- Makoto then nodded, and Kyosuke looked mad – "why haven't you told us this? why are you withholding info?"- Makoto then felt guilty as he listened. Both Byakuya and Kyoko wanted to help him – "Ok that's enough"- Jin finally said surprising everyone – "If he can't tell us… he must have his reasons for it"- He said smiling softly, showing his confidence on Makoto, and Kijo agreed as well

"What do you mean Jin? He is withholding vital information, we can't just let it slide"- he said angry only to notice Kijo – "Kyosuke that's enough!"- he ordered – "Makoto has already proven time and time again that he is on our side. Like Jin said, if he isn't telling us, he must have his reasons"- Kyo looked a bit mad, but then sighed – "Ok… but you better have a good reason"- Kyo finally said. Dio looked this in disbelief. The level of trust these people had with each other was astonishing, it actually made him a bit sad over how the state of the Crusaders was currently.

"well since we now know they work with the Dr. it means that they wanted something that ghoul has. Mr. Dio"- Kijo said while Dio looked at him – "How is the re-hunt of all the escaped convicts going?"- he asked and Dio took a really long breath to calm his nervousness – "We have been working with everyone on the GHA to find and re-capture them. But we have 2 issues currently at stake. The first one being that the Neo exorcist is not collaborating with us, instead of doing their own thing"-he said as everyone in the room looked angry – "but the second issue is that since their first capture, the escapee ghouls had started hunting more to replenish and fortify themselves, to a point is harder to capture them"- He said, Makoto looked sadly, he felt guilty about this, maybe if he had told them about the ghouls being at Hope's Peak this wouldn't happen… but at the same time if he had, they would have killed hundreds of students.

"We have to take care of that. Kyosuke, you Mr. Dio gather a team of hunters and make sure to capture them"- he ordered and they both nodded before they left the room. Leaving the trio with Jin and Kijo, Kijo then sighed – "Makoto, Kyoko and my son how has work being?"- they smiled, they did appreciate that they weren't forcing the previous theme – "Work has been fine, father. We still hit some problems with the Neo exorcists and some Ghouls, but we have managed. Although honestly we have been shocked over the sudden overgrowth of the Ghouls raw power"- Byakuya said explaining, making Kijo sigh – "yeah I know. After the world became chaotic, somehow the ghouls just started to become stronger… and we don't understand why"- The trio looked sadly, they had noticed that fighting ghoul had turned more difficult and they got more and more injured during fights than normal. – "Well let's not take more of your time, you guys still some jobs to do"-said Kijo trying to cheer them up. which it did… a little bit. The trio then bowed respectfully at them and left – "Jin… are we doing the right thing… sending kids to fight?"- Kijo said as he started to feel regret, and Jin looked sadly as well – "No… but we don't have a choice"

"Makoto are you sure you don't want to tell them?"- asked Kyoko softly as they left the room and were leaving the building – "If I did it would only cause more chaos"- He admitted ant they looked both sad and worried – "We have to take care of this ourselves"- Both Byakuya and Kyoko looked worried about him… he was adding too much pressure on himself.

After they returned to their base they explained everything they had just heard from Jin and Kijo. Everyone was shocked – "GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!"- screamed Mondo as he punched the table with all his strength – "All those people!"- Makoto then looked guilty.

"I'm sorry guys"- he apologized, surprising everyone – "If I had reacted before… If I had told others about them infiltrating Hope's Peak. Maybe we would have managed to prevent this"- He said looking guilty. Everyone then just stayed silent

"Makoto this wasn't your fault"- Said Izuru, breaking the silence and surprising Makoto – "You stayed silent to protect the Hope's Peak Students, the decision you chose was to protect someone, but sadly is impossible to protect everyone"- Makoto then smiled softly – "Yeah… sadly you are right"

"Well, for now, we can't do more, so let us try to keep our spirits as high as possible, we still have a job to do"- Sakura said, lifting their spirits – "Ok let's go work"

….

Their job that day was simple enough, just a couple of ghouls here and there. But because they were all separated they had to spread and hunt them. Sayaka looked surprised, it was her first individual job and she was kind of scared, they were paying attention to Byakuya's briefing and she could feel her hands kind of shaky before her eyes widened as she felt Makoto hold her hand – "Don't worry… I will be close… and if something were to happen I'll go as fast possible"- He whispered and she smiled softly. – "Ok now spread"

Sayaka arrived where her target was supposed to be, she was in the middle of an empty street. Looking only at the lights of the streetlamps illuminating. Sayaka walked until she heard a crunchy sound like someone was eating crunchy crackers. But she could feel deep inside herself the disgusting feeling of fear. Then she saw it. It was a skinny scarecrow type of ghoul towering a corpse as it eats from her. Sayaka looked disgusted and horrified as she noticed the body on the floor was from a little 5-7 years old kid. She looked away and gagged a bit, but then she took a deep breath resolving herself. She remembered what she learned during her training.

Makoto and she were sitting seiza inside the dojo as Minato talked to them -"Sayaka you do understand what it means to kill?"- Minato asked her, confusing her – "Sayaka, I accepted you for this training, because I saw potential. But no matter how much potential you have it's all worthless if you can't use it"- Sayaka then explained that she had fought before, seen death, and helped kill with Makoto – "Yes I know. But there is a difference between helping someone and doing it yourself"- Minato explained, Sayaka looked at Makoto who nodded agreeing with his father.

"Makoto… for as much as I hate to say since he is my son. Is an experienced killer. His jobs as a reaper had taught him how to do it. And his determination to create a world where the ghouls don't cause problems has kept him focused. But you Sayaka are different. You joined to help Makoto, but helping him requires death… are you willing to do it?"- Sayaka looked thoughtful,- "I want to at least try"- she admitted. Minato then closed his eyes thoughtfully and sighed

"Ok… but If you keep that mindset you will be killed"- he admitted and Sayaka looked sadly – "So take these words deep into your core. When fighting to kill, do not try to start a competition, since you will gain nothing from it. When you look at your target, breathe slowly, calm your mind, resolve your blade to answer the call, and strike once. Your objective is to end it in that one strike. If you succeed in following these rules, your chances of living become higher, if you fail… then prepare yourself to fight for your very life"

Sayaka started following those rules, as she saw the Ghoul again, she calmed herself her eyes turning blurry as she concentrated on her task. She then put her hand on her blade she then took another hard breath. The ghoul still concentrated on consuming the child. She knew that she didn't have either the strength or the technique to cut off his body. After she resolved, she disappeared from the night, the wind rushing. The ghoul just felt as a sudden surge of wind covered him. He looked around and saw Sayaka next to him, looking away and her blade out – "RAAAAAW….!"- The ghoul roared before his eye widened and the world suddenly turned upside down. He didn't understand what happened until his body fell on top of his head and blood started appearing around. His last sight before it died was Sayaka looking at it with sad eyes.

Sayaka felt a knot on her stomach… seeing it fall dead… made her feel sad and guilty. She had just killed someone. She could feel her body shaking out of fear and she hugged herself - *so… this is killing!?* she thought as she was doing everything she could to not cry. - *this is how Makoto felt all the time… how could he handle this? *

"Wow I never thought you had it in you Sayaka"- She then heard as she looked back, surprised to see Junko with an umbrella – "I mean you are one of the good girls of our class… I'm surprised you could kill… but on the other hand, so does Makoto, so maybe I was wrong about it"- she said as she analyzed – "Junko? Why are you here?"-Sayaka asked, still afraid and Junko smiled as she walked to Sayaka.

She then felt a pinch on her neck and her body felt heavy – "Ohh nothing, just having a little bit of fun"- Junko said as the last thing Sayaka saw was her wicked smile and a syringe on her hand.

….

Makoto had just finished killing his own target. It was bulldozer giant ghoul with iron spiked ball fists on his hands. Makoto took him out quickly and landed. He then called individually each of his teammates to see how were they doing. Some of them had finished their jobs and were going to the meetup point, while Mondo and Maki were still fighting their respective ghouls. Makoto then nodded and called Sayaka.

"Sayaka how are you doing?"- he asked her… to no response – "Sayaka?"- he then asked a little worried – "Oh hi Makoto!"- he then heard his earpiece, but that voice wasn't Sayaka… wait, was that? – "Junko?"- he asked confused as to why he had Sayaka's earpiece.

"Ohh you remember my voice. I'm so glad!"- she said but Makoto was feeling suspicious – "Junko where is Sayaka?"- Makoto asked seriously – "Oh don't worry she is fine. I just spent some time with her"- she said and Makoto could feel the malevolence in her voice – "But if you want to play with us… Just come to the location I sent you… and please come alone, I'm shy!"- The call then ended and Makoto was shocked, why was she doing this. He then looked to where the meetup point was. – "Sorry guys" - Before he left

He arrived at the place. It looked like an empty warehouse from outside. Makoto then looked at the doorway and walked to it. As he entered he noticed the room was dark and he couldn't see well anything, yet his other senses were in overdrive, a powerful stench, mechanical noises, and soft metal clanking like chains.

The lights then suddenly turned on, and Makoto covered his eyes from the sudden glare as the lights turned on. After his eyes accustomed he noticed what was happening and his eyes widened in shock in front of him was Sayaka who was unconscious on a Birdcage hanging on a chain as she dangled on top of a huge container of acid.

Next to her was a throne with Junko Enoshima She was smiling, proudful while she hugged her Monokuma plush – "You came, I'm so glad!"- She said excited but Makoto looked serious – "Ok Junko I am here… what do you want?"- he said and she smiled.

"Makoto I am mad at you!"- she said, confusing him – "Remember a while ago when we started a game of thug of war? I would try to turn you into a weapon for my Despair, and you would try to redeem me to Hope. But when the chaos of the ghouls started we stopped… Or so I thought"- she said confusing him – "While I did stopped you didn't… little by little you poisoned my mind with your Hope… you backstabber!"- she screamed enraged. But Makoto couldn't believe what she talking about.

"What? No, I haven't"- Makoto said offended over her accusations – "DON'T LIE TO ME!"- she screamed – "YOU THINK I HAVEN'T NOTICED?!"- Makoto looked surprised – "I should be full of glee and pleasure over the fall of the world and destruction the ghouls brought… yet I'm not… instead… I have been started feeling worried over people…. I FUCKING HATE IT!"- she said turning into her rock persona – "I hate that I am loosing to you… so I'll make sure to make you despair today"- she said as she pressed a button and two doors opened, from each appeared large muscled ghouls, one with a white bear mask and the other with a black bear mask – "Do you like them?! People are afraid of them, but they are quite easy to mind break"-she said. Makoto then summoned his swords – "Nope. If you fight them… I'll throw our Idol to the acid"- she said with a twisted smile. Makoto then looked before he closed his eyes, accepting his fate – "Kill him"- And the ghouls dashed to attack.

Just then Sayaka opened her eyes. Her body hurt and she didn't know where she was. She noticed she was in some sort of cage and started investigating but as she looked around her eyes widened in shock. As she saw the two ghouls pummelling Makoto around. Her eyes turned to horror as she noticed the pool of blood that was both covering and around Makoto.

"MAKOTO!"- She screamed, grabbing the pipes of her cage before a light hit her, she then looked down and saw the massive pool of a (for simplicity sake) green slimy substance… what was that? She then looked around and saw Junko staring hard while she covered her face with her doll. What was happening?

*CRUNCH*

That sound shocked both girls as they finally saw the ghoul break Makotos left arm - "NO STOP! STOP HURTING HIM!"- Sayaka started crying. *Why… Why isn't he fighting back? * tears falling from her eyes as Makoto hit the floor and started vomiting blood. Sayaka then started struggling as much as she could. She needed to help him.

*Why… why am I not enjoying this? *- Thought Junko as she looked horrified over what her ghouls were doing to Makoto. She did not enjoy it one bit… but especially - *why? Why does he keep standing? *- She said as she saw that even after everything, they were doing to him. Makoto used all his strength to stand – "Why? WHY DON'T YOU JUST GIVE UP!? WHY DON'T YOU FALL INTO DESPAIR?!"- Junko screamed at Makoto while Sayaka looked in shock… was this all Junko's plan? But to their surprise, they saw Makoto smile. His hair covering his face, blood covering his whole body.

"because there is nothing in despair for me"- Makoto said, just before they punched him in the face making him fall to the ground. But he stood again – "If I despair… I won't find the happiness I'm seeking"- Both Sayaka and especially Junko looked shocked. Although he has in extreme pain, he wouldn't give up. Junko then looked sadly… What was she even doing? Why was she hurting Makoto? She wasn't gaining anything from it, she could only feel regret. She then closed her eyes hard, before she pressed a button and a lid appeared on top of the tub under Sayaka and her birdcage opened under her. Sayaka hit the lid and fell on her butt.

"That's enough ghouls stop"- Junko ordered. The ghouls listened but something was wrong. They started twitching, releasing Makoto, who dropped to the floor, and now looking at her. Junko looked terrified as they looked at her as prey. They both then pounced over her. Revealing they saw-like teeth. Junko looked shocked before she smiled… *So I'll die…Well, I guess this is where my Despair leaves me. I should be glad*- she thought as she closed her eyes and felt tears.

*CRUNCH*

Junko clenched waiting for the pain… but it never came. She then opened her eyes which widened quickly as she saw Makoto protecting her… and getting bitten instead. Both Sayaka and Junko looked shocked… why he did that? - "What the hell are you doing? Why are you protecting me after what I have done?"- Junko asked Makoto, she then got mad at him – "Do you think you are a Hero, You stupid Herbivore?"- she insulted him, not understanding why. Makoto then twitched as his veins appeared

"WOULD YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP FOR A GOD DAMN SECOND!?"- Makoto screamed, shocking both girls, they have never seen him so angry before. Junko fell back, out of pure shock - "I don't care if you are a despairing queen or whatever… and even if you are cruel or even a bitch… I will protect you. Because that is what I promised."

The Ghouls eyes widened as they felt a huge bloodthirst coming from Makoto- "Let go you bastards"- Makoto said coldly to the ghouls who in fear released him and started dashing to the first escape. Makoto then rose his hand – "You won't escape that easily"- Makoto then clenched his fist, and both ghouls stop right on their tracks as the fell to the ground in pain. Confused and shocked, both Junko and Sayaka looked – "death!"- Makoto said swinging his empty hand. From withing the Ghouls then multiple scythe blades appeared covering their bodies and killing them. Makoto then felt his body heavy and started falling unconscious, when Sayaka grabbed him hugging him deeply.

Just then to the surprise of both girls the door opened as the others from the team entered. The team looked shocked at the massacre inside. Blood splattered everywhere. 2 ghouls with stab wounds everywhere, Makoto unconscious as Sayaka held him and Junko was in shock…she then looked sadly… maybe it wasn't the time to think about this.. but she knew… she lost. It was impossible to make Makoto despair… at least for her.

"So Sayaka what happened there? We tracked Makoto and you, and we came as fast as possible"- Kyoko asked as they were ready to be taken to a hospital and both Sayaka and Junko were sitting in carts. Junko looked guilty… she knew they would find out the truth – "While I was fighting my target, another ghoul snuck on me and kidnapped me… apparently, his partner did the same with Junko. They wanted to torture and kill Makoto. So they imprisoned us while they beat him up"- Sayaka said, shocking Junko… wait she wasn't going to tell them the truth? - "I'm sorry… I couldn't protect Makoto"-Sayaka said sadly. But Kyoko hugged her – "It's ok… he will heal… but I'm glad you are ok as well"- She said and Sayaka started crying.

After a while, the others left leaving Junko and Sayaka alone – "Sayaka?"- Junko then started – "don't even think for a second I was doing it for you"- Sayaka said coldly shocking Junko – "Makoto wanted to protect you… To give you another chance… and it would have been all worthless if they jailed you"- Junko finally understood, Sayaka was doing this for Makoto – "But just so you know… if you ever try anything like this again"- Junko's eyes widened as she looked at Sayaka, her eyes were cold and bloodthirsty – "I will kill you"- Junko then felt fear sink deep into her very soul… she knew… Sayaka meant it.

A blond/greenish hair man looked from the top of a building as the scene unraveled, he then heard a swift movement and behind him, a group of people appeared bowing to him – "Master we have made sure every evidence of his blood was wiped from the ghouls"- said one of them and the man closed his eyes – "I see so then we have nothing to worry about"- he said as he opened his eyes, which had turned from green to red – "we can't let anything interfere with our plans"- he said before looking at one of them – "make sure to fulfill your part soon"- the man then nodded – "Of course Master"
