BIHP 42: Before BIHP IV

Young Makoto 6 years was walking through the streets of New York with his teacher Mikas Linnes. They were going to their hotel. The Six Columbus Hotel. It had been almost a month since he decided to become a reaper. As he entered the hotel and Mikas started talking with the front house, in a language Makoto couldn't understand, he could remember the talk he had with his father.

1 month before

"What?!"- Minato, Kijo, and Jin said at the same time… Currently they were on the Kirigiri household living room, with Mikas as well. Makoto wanted to talk to them… and what he said they couldn't believe it – "I… want to be a reaper"- he said shily. After what happened to both Kyoko and Sinon Makoto felt guilty and wanted to help fight against the new monsters that were created. The first attack where Kyoko got injured was about 2 months ago and since then the increasing growth of these new beasts called Ghouls had shocked them.

Kijo looked a bit worried – "Makoto… are you sure? You do know what being a reaper means right?"- Makoto looked sadly. He had seen reapers kill ghouls before… and although he hated it and felt nauseous seeing it… he somehow knew he had to. Makoto then nodded. The adults then looked at each other and sighed.

"Makoto the adults need to talk. Go upstairs and talk with Kyoko ok?"- Makoto then nodded, who got up and walked upstairs. Leaving the adults there. After a couple of seconds after Makoto left Minato then sighed heavily – "guys… what should I do? He said while the others looked at him.

"I say let him"- Mikas then said surprising them – "What are you insane? This is my son we are talking about… he could die!"- Minato said angry making Mikas laugh – "Never thought I would hear this from the Ultimate Highschool Swordsman."- she said mockingly. Making him mad.

"Mikas, those days are behind me… now I'm just as normally salaryman"- he said annoyed – "Ok lets us calm down"- Jin said as they fought each other – "Actually Minato I agree with her"- Jin said surprising him – "Makoto has potential, not only is he the descendant of the Ultimate Swordsman and Sword style but also he has special abilities we could use"- Minato listened but he was struggling to accept it, although he saw the video of what Makoto did… he didn't like the idea of his son having to fight monsters

"I understand your concern Minato, but he made his choice himself."- Kijo said…making him sigh – "I understand… but that means he will need a trainer"- Minato said confusing them – "Wait you aren't teaching him Moonlight-style?"- Asked Kijo.

"Not yet. Although he can heal quickly, his muscles aren't capable of handling Crimson Moon-Style"- He said and Jin looked confused – "why then not start with Twilight moon-style?"- He asked, and Minato looked a bit embarrassed.

"Well.. to be honest… I want Makoto to start with the same one I started"- he said a bit embarrassed. Making the others sigh. Minato then looked sad – "also with how Martel is acting… I don't think Makoto will connect with Twilight Style as much"- They all looked sadly at him.

They all knew about how Martel was currently treating Makoto. And they all thought it was disgusting. Other than screaming and ignoring him. She would sometimes hurt him, and once she even burned him with boiling water. Of course, this last one was by accident…. But it didn't change how she treated this 6 years old kid.

"Then I'll train him"- Mikas then said getting their attention – "If he needs a teacher, well I am the Ultimate Soldier, a Captain level, and the only one with experience fighting ghouls. I'm the most capable of all"- she said and they agreed. Minato then looked at her with a soft smile – "Thanks Mikas… and please take care of him"- he said, making her blush before she looked away.

"I'm not doing this for you… Makoto will be an indispensable piece during the war… So I am making sure he is not useless"- she said. But both Kijo and Jin immediately knew… she was lying. Although Minato was too dense to notice, during their high school years Minato had a lot of girls with a crush on him, including Mikas – "so make sure to teach him Moonlight style later ok?"- Mikas said and Minato smiled softly… Making her blush even more.

"Yeah I will"

….

Makoto arrived at Kyoko's room and softly knocked on the door – "Who is it?"- he then heard from inside – "It's… Makoto"- he said shily… but they both stayed silent – "You can come you know"- she said a bit annoyed. Makoto then opened the door softly, seeing Kyoko on the bed, her hands still bandaged after the accident – "how are you Makoto?"- she said smiling, she had changed the way she treated Makoto after the accident, she was nicer and kinder to him – "Hi… Kyoko"- but on the other hand, Kyoko had noticed that Makoto… also had changed. Before he used to be empty, like a husk, only following what they told him to do. But after the accident, when he started talking again… he was shy.

"Makoto talk with confidence"- she said pouting and Makoto's face turned red. Making her sigh. He was hopeless – "are… your… hands… better?"- he asked shyly. She looked confused but then smiled – "Yes, they still hurt a little, but daddy takes care of me and helps me a lot"- she said looking at her bandaged hands with a soft sad smile.

"I'm sorry"- Makoto said on the verge of tears. He still felt guilty about what happened to her. She then sighed – "stop crying already… aren't you a man?"- Makoto looked a bit surprised, and then she looked sadly – "actually I want to apologize to you"- she said confusing Makoto… what did apologize meant? She noticed this and looked mad – "I want to say I'm sorry"- she almost screamed surprising him – "I said that it was your fault that happened… but it wasn't… I'm sorry"- Makoto's eyes widened before he looked sad.

"but Kyoko it was my fault… the monster was following me… you got hurt because of me"- He said and Kyoko looked mad – "It wasn't your fault!"- she screamed shocking him – "The monster wanted to hurt you… is not your fault that monster was bad… but you did save us"- she said blushing a bit. Makoto didn't remember doing that… heck, Kyoko and Byakuya didn't remember either. But Jin and Kijo explained to them that he helped them. – "so thank you"- she said softly blushing a bit. Makoto didn't understand why she said that… but somehow it struck hard in his heart… making him smile. Kyoko noticed this and her heart started pounding hard, what was this feeling? – "So… why are you here?"- asked Kyoko trying to divert the conversation – "I told the adults I wanted to be a reaper"- Kyoko then looked shocked – "really? Isn't it dangerous?"- she said a bit worried

"but… I have to do it"- Makoto said determined, surprising. She had never seen him determined before… she then smiled – "then… be careful"

Present time

Makoto entered their room in the hotel and looked astonished. The room looked really comfy, with two big beds, the bathroom was clean, with a giant bath. Makoto looked excited – "Makoto don't forget why we are here"- Mikas said a but serious and Makoto eyes widened - "Yes teacher… I remember"- Makoto had been training with her for over a month and although he was tired a lot for her over abusing training regimen. She on the other hand was rather impressed. She at first started a hard regimen so he could know the hardship of his decision. But he was able to complete it easily… and she noticed his raw potential. Maybe it was because he was Minato's son or maybe it was his vampire blood, but she trained him extensively to the point he was better trained than actual soldiers. But she couldn't deny that although she trained him as a complete fighter. She couldn't deny that when she congratulated him and he looked happy… he was so cute! Did Minato look like this when he was young? If she had married Minato would Makoto be how her kids would look like?

As that sudden thought came to her mind her face turned red – "Teacher are you ok?"- Makoto said worried at her… which only made it harder for her – "Yes I am… just go take a bath… it was a long flight"- she said trying to act tough. Makoto looked a bit confused but nodded. Before he took his PJs and went to the bathroom to take a bath.

While he did that. She then calmed down by taking a huge breath. Before she pulls out her briefing folder and read it. There were a lot of targets in New York. But no one too important or dangerous. But since they were still here they sent her and Makoto so he could have some experience on the topic. Of course, the higher-ups weren't so keen on Makoto starting to hunt only one month after he started his training, but they also knew it was rather impossible to make her change her mind.

But even she was a little nervous about Makoto… although he had incredible potential, she cared for him. Although she treated him like a soldier… she cared for him like her own son. Her face then turned red again as the thought of that hit her mind again.

She then heard a door opening and saw Makoto coming out of the bath his hair wet and wearing his PJs. She then smiled and called him close. Makoto then walked to her. And she swiftly punched his head – "Why are you coming out with your hair wet… don't you know you could end up with a cold?"- she said a bit mad, and Makoto looked sadly – "I'm sorry"- she then sighed and searched for the rooms hair blower before connecting it – "Come I'll dry your hair"- she said as she pointed in front of her and he sat there. She then turned on the hair drier and started drying his hair. Makoto didn't know why… but unlike with his mom, whose heart made him sad and scared, and although she punched him in the head. Mikas heartbeat was calm and relaxing.

When she finished, she noticed that Makoto was so calm that he actually fell asleep on her lap. She then sighed and carried him to his bed where she covered him. Just as she was going to leave to her bed – "Mommy"- she heard Makoto whisper and noticed he was crying a bit, like he was having a bad dream. She then smiled a bit and pet his head – "It's ok Makoto… mommy will protect you"- she said a bit embarrassed, while Makoto smiled and slept.

Makoto in his reaper costume X kid (red robe with a hoodie, a long black sword made by the Izayoi family, black soldier boots, black soldier pants, and a black easy to breathe skin-tight t-shirt. While Mikas used her own. Her costume was different she usually wore a crimson red military-looking uniform with a matching mini skirt, long black stockings, ankle fold black boots, and black gloves, and a Nodachi. Although she was known as the ultimate soldier on her high school days, and she was a master of firearms. She liked using blades more than guns, and her style was one that could almost rival the Moonlight-style – "Makoto are you ready?"- she then asked and Makoto nodded – "Remember I'll take the main target. He has a small assistant… you take care of him"- She then noticed that Makoto was shacking, and sighed before she crouched to his size and pet his head – "Makoto you still have time to leave and not do this"- Although it sounded like she was basically calling him a coward, deep inside she wanted him to not do it… she was afraid of how he could end if he killed. Makoto then shook his head – "I want to help"- he said determined, she then sighed - "Ok then no more shaking then"

Inside there was a large 3 handed man with muscled arms and claws, and a small humanoid ghoul who was feeding the larger one – "Big brother we have a lot of food"- The small ghoul said as they both ate, human pieces of a dead woman on the floor. As they looked Mikas then looked Makoto worried about how he would react to the dead body. It could traumatize her. But what she saw shocked her. Instead of being scared and traumatized, he looked like he was trying to control his own hunger… Mikas looked surprised, even after all their time together she had forgotten that he was a vampire. She then closed her eyes – "Makoto control yourself!"- she said surprising the little boy – "Remember why we came"- Makoto then nodded. He was determined.

She and he then dashed (obviously she was faster) and she quickly slashed the large ghoul, turning her into minced meat. She did it as fast as possible to help Makoto if it was necessary, but as she turned she looked surprised again as she saw Makoto on top of the other ghoul stabbing him in the neck and killing him. And the blood covering his hair and face.

"Makoto?"- She asked and Makoto looked at her with a pure smile, but his face and hair was covered in blood – "Teacher I did it!"- he said a bit excited. She then sighed, before she pulled his hood up – "you are covered in blood… so let's go home to take a bath"- Makoto could feel a warm feeling as she said home. And followed her. While they did that a Silver-haired teen in a maid costume looked from afar.

3 years later.

Makoto, Kyoko, and Byakuya (9 years old) were taking a boat through the waters to the beaches of Okinawa. Makoto looked excited, as the wind ruffled his hair, while the other two sighed – "Makoto calm down we are not going to play"- Byakuya said and Makoto pouted – "well I know that… but if I do it quickly we can still play a bit"- he said and Byakuya sighed, he was going to say something but Kyoko stopped him – "Byakuya there is no point in fighting him. If he does his job fast enough, there is no problem in letting him"- Kyoko said and Byakuya gave up. She was right.

They arrived at the beaches of Okinawa and noticed it was packed to the brim with people. Surprising the trio – "There is a lot of people, how can we find where he is?"- Makoto asked. While Kyoko read the brief folder – "he will be near water"- she said confidently confusing them – "the ghoul attacks by turning himself into a shark and raiding beaches. So that his crimes are only declared as shark attacks.

"And how we know he will be here?"- Makoto asked confused – "Because he is moving through the water from the beach to beach, and the route tells us that is coming this way"- Makoto looked impressed, surprising her – "Kyoko you are so smart!"- he said happily, making her blush – "I guess"- Makoto then looked around the boat - "well then I guess we just have to wait"- he said as he paid attention outside.

They stayed there for a couple of minutes. Capturing the attention of the people at the beach as they saw this expensive boat just parked outside the beach. Makoto eyes then widened as he looked to somewhere confusing them - "He's there"- Makoto said confusing them before they heard a scream – "SHARK!"- someone screamed as the people started running away from it. Makoto then quickly kicked a case where his sword was. As he grabbed the handle he spun it turning it into a Bow and aimed with a corded arrow. He was also trained as a proficient archer and thanks to his vampires' eyes he had incredible accuracy. Makoto looked deep and noticed the Shark Ghoul quickly swimming to a little girl who was trying to leave the water as her mother entered the water to retrieve her. Makoto then arcs the bow, his concentration to the max. he then released it.

The arrow flew, striking the ghoul on its eye as it was about to bite the girl. The ghoul then shrunk in pain. Makoto then tied the rope to the boat – "run it"- the captain then accelerated the boat and went deeper into the sea pulling the ghoul as far as they could. But they all fell to the floor of the boat as it stopped forcefully. They noticed that the Ghoul struggling was pulling the boat and stopping it on its track.- "damn he is strong"- Makoto said as he started shooting arrows at the monster, but he kept dodging underwater. A bit annoyed Makoto then grabbed the rope and started pulling. But seeing how he was getting pulled harder eventually the shark ghoul went harder. Breaking the rope behind Makoto. And pulling Makoto with it – "Makoto!"- screamed both Byakuya and Kyoko. Makoto then got pulled and quickly used his sword as a windsurfing tool on the water. The ghoul then noticed the difference in weight and he looked back. Noticing Makoto. He then stopped and turned around swimming to Makoto. Who quickly took his sword and blocked with his sword. As she started to sink with the ghoul into the depth.

Struggling with all his strength Makoto swung his sword killing it. But started fainting at the lack of air. When he saw a girl swimming down to save him. But he fainted. Makoto then woke up as the lifeguard was giving him CPR. And quickly overreacted at it kissing him. Everyone looked a bit surprised over how Makoto was fine. – "son are you ok?"- Asked the lifeguard a bit surprised over his stamina – "No I kissed an old man"- Makoto said funny crying. The lifeguard looked surprised. How could he be ok? Just then Kyoko appeared and hugged Makoto, while a worker of Togami talked to the lifeguard and the people started leaving – "Makoto are you ok?"- She asked and he smiled – "Yes I am. don't worry Kyoko"- he said smiling making her blush before she looked mad – "I'm not"

While this happened little Hina was getting scolded by her parents about jumping into the water to save that boy – "sorry"- she said apologetic, her father then sighed when a person stumbled with him – "Ohh Sorry"- he said before he looked surprised over the guy he was huge with long messy hair – "Don't apologize, Me apologize for hitting you"-The man said before he left. But not before taking a quick glance at Makoto

Makoto 10 years.

He was walking through the nights of Tokyo. He was covered in his hood and walking through the red-light districts of the city. His face was red with shame as he could smell with extreme detail, the scent of women around. The smell of sweat and lust, and even the soft moaning of girls around the area – "Are you sure is here?"- Makoto said through his earpiece trying his best to ignore every stimulus around him – "Yeah. It's a recently turned ghoul. And it hasn't killed a lot. But we found out that before his transformation he used to have a family. But because of his abusive tendencies her wife ran out with her children"- Makoto looked sadly… - "She lives nearby since her job as a bartender is also close. So, you have to find him before he finds her"- Kyoko finally explained- "ok" Makoto said shily a tinge of red on his face. His eyes widened as he felt someone looking at him and turned around… but not seeing anything he decided to ignore it and keep going.

As he walked through two teenagers looked at him, a man with purple spiky hair, and a woman with black hair and a green ribbon – "So that is him? Looks kind of small"- said the man, and the girl pouted – "why couldn't it be a cute girl? Well, I guess for a boy he is also kind of cute"- she said.

Makoto walked until he felt a smell he knew through all these years… blood. Quickly he dashed to his destination. As he arrived he noticed a dead woman, he looked sad. He had failed – "Please…"- Makoto looked shocked as the woman looked at him and cried – "Please save my boys"- Makoto then held her hand – "I will"- she then smiled before she died. Determined Makoto searched for the smell and quickly dashed to where the ghoul was.

As he arrived he noticed two kids in front of him. One about the same age as his and one older. But the biggest of the bunch was a large ghoul trying to kill them. Without a second of thought, Makoto took him out in a split second. Before looking at them – "I'm sorry I couldn't save your mother" – before leaving again, while Young Mondo and his brother looked shocked

On the top of a building nearby they were looking at him – "Master why do you care about this fletching so much?"- asked one of them to the center one making him grin – "Because this Fletching has something we have been searching for."

Well, This is the end of the chapter.

I just wanted to write a connection to all Makoto's backstories until now. And introduce… well Introduce Something XD
