Holly went with Celia to see Kevin while Jayne went back home. Jayne and JJ were having a disagreement. She saw her name on his laptop and wanted to know why he was looking into her. When he refused to tell her, she had run out. Deciding to go to the docks, she needed some air.
Chase saw her and walked up to her. "Jayne, is everything alright?"
Jayne didn't really know how to respond. She didn't want to lie but also didn't want to share her business. "It will be, I'm just very frustrated."
"Not being able to work?" Chase asked her.
"No, just something with JJ." She told him.
Chase didn't want to push this. "Oh, do you want to talk about it?"
Jayne was hesitant but thought it might help. "I just really don't like secrets. My whole life has basically been a lie. I just want a little honesty."
"Who can blame you? You know he seems like a good guy, and you're great." Chase was doing his best to be a good friend.
"He really is a good guy, but I don't know.." Jayne was trying to choose her words carefully. Her love for JJ was very strong, and she never wanted anyone to doubt that.
"Do you think maybe you rushed into getting back together with him?" Chase asked her.
JJ was walking nearby and quickly realized they were talking. He went to turn away and walk away when he heard Jayne speak up.
"Absolutely not, I didn't realize just how much he completed me until we reconnected. No relationship is perfect. It takes work." Jayne replied without hesitation.
"Do you ever wonder what would have happened if we had given it a shot?" Chase asked her, usually he wouldn't, but he had to know.
Jayne shook her head no. "There was a time I would have loved it, but my heart is JJ's. It just wouldn't have been fair. Sorry." Jayne felt bad telling him that, but she needed to be honest.
Chase shook his head. "I am glad you were honest. You are a great friend Jayne Scorpio."
Jayne smiled at him. "So are you, Chase. I'm going to go to Kelly's and try to talk things out with JJ."
JJ realized he needed to get to Kelly's quickly. He hurried and went in the back door.
"Where's the fire?" Rose asked him.
JJ was trying to catch his breath. "Gran, pretend I've been here for a while."
Rose was confused by the request. "Why Joey?" She asked him. "You aren't doing something you aren't supposed to are you?"
"No, it's nothing like that. I promise and I will tell you more later." JJ gave his grandmother a hug.
Jayne walked in the front door and sat down.
"There's one of my favorite women." Rose went over to Jayne's table.
"Hi, Rose." Jayne smiled and stood back up to give her a hug. "Is JJ around?"
Rose hugged her back. "Yes, he has been helping me in the kitchen for a while now. Want me to get him?"
"Yes, please." Jayne sat back down.
Rose went into the kitchen and JJ came out.
"I'm sorry about this afternoon." JJ told her as he went over to the table.
Jayne stood up. "I'm sorry too." She hugged him and kissed him. "I just struggle with people keeping things from me about me."
"Come with me and I will tell you." JJ led Jayne up to his room, needing privacy.
"You don't have to if you can't." Jayne didn't want JJ to get in trouble.
"Honestly it's a side project Frisco and I are working on. We wanted to see i we could find a way to make Alistair pay for what he did to you and your parents." JJ admitted to her.
Jayne didn't know how to really feel about it. She stayed quiet.
"Are you okay?" JJ asked her.
"I just really don't know what to say." Jayne told him, still struggling to really come up with anything substantial.
"It's okay if you aren't. Look the man was your father for decades." JJ took her hand and sat down.
"I think that's what so hard about it. I want him to pay but there's this part of me that would feel for him. Barry isn't included is her?" Jayne asked, Barry obviously had no clue of what was going on.
"No, we made sure he wasn't. I know how much he means to you." JJ told her.
"I just need some time for this to sink in. Thank you for being honest with me." Jayne told him.
JJ nodded, completely understanding why she needed it. "I'm sorry I wasn't before. I love you, I never want you to doubt that."
"I love you too." Jayne told him as she gave him a kiss. "I never doubt that."
"You hungry or you want me to give you a ride back home?" JJ asked, knowing Jayne had walked.
"Maybe a late lunch with your gran and then a ride home?" She suggested.
"Sound perfect." JJ and Jayne went downstairs.
