Brooke awoke the following day and began preparing for her upcoming date with Peyton, which was scheduled to take place in an hour or two.
While selecting an outfit, she commented, 'I can't wear a dress or a skirt since we'll be riding horses,' as she opted for a pair of blue jeans which she deemed perfect.
Subsequently, she chose a white T-shirt, a matching flannel with a pale blue checkered pattern, and a pair of boots, expressing once again, 'Perfect,' with a smile as she changed into her chosen attire.
Curiously, she pondered, 'I wonder if Peyton is ready to depart?' Following her dressing, Brooke proceeded to check on her blonde partner, who appeared to still be asleep.
Upon entering the room, she softly called out, 'Peytonnnnn, wake up,' playfully sneaking into the blonde's space. Upon reaching Peyton's bedside, Brooke excitedly leaped on top of the slumbering blonde, cheerfully exclaiming, 'Wake up P. Sawyer,' while positioning herself with her legs on either side of Peyton's sprawled-out body.
"Awaken, awaken!" Brooke jolted on top of Peyton in an attempt to rouse her. "Come on, Peyton Elisabeth Sawyer, arise." She let out a small noise of surprise as she felt an arm encircle her waist and draw her downwards. "Excuse me, madam?" a drowsy Peyton inquired as she maneuvered them so that Brooke was beneath her.
"Hey…" Brooke pouted as she found herself on her back with Peyton holding her down. The brunette gazed into Peyton's eyes. "I wouldn't have needed to jump on the bed if somebody was already awake," Brooke remarked as she pushed against the blonde's chest to free herself.
"Is that so?" Peyton questioned, observing the brunette's pout. "Yes, we have a rendezvous in an hour or less," she complained while attempting to slip out from under the blonde.
Peyton couldn't resist laughing. "Forgive me, princess, for not wanting to get up immediately, but I suppose you're correct," she quipped as she kissed the brunette before moving away from Brooke.
Brooke observed Peyton rising from bed, stating, 'About time sleepy head, you're worse than Haley.' As she observed her girlfriend getting dressed, Peyton inquired, 'How am I worse than Haley?' as she put on black jeans, a black and white flannel shirt, and boots.
Brooke responded with a click of her tongue, explaining, 'Because she's difficult to wake up when we were living together, especially when I accidentally knocked over a glass while putting something on the wall, and she didn't even stir.' The blond chuckled as she finished dressing and teasingly asked the brunette, 'Ready to go, miss impatient?'
Brooke nodded with a smile and eagerly left the room, saying, 'Ready to go? Yes. Ready to have fun with the best girlfriend ever? Yes.'
Peyton, noticing Brooke's cheerful mood, remarked with a smile, 'Someone seems to be in a great mood considering what happened yesterday,' pleased to see the return of the old Brooke.
Brooke requested, 'Let's forget about what happened in the last two days and look forward to our date,' as she walked into the kitchen to prepare coffee for both of them.
Peyton replied with a smile, 'That sounds good to me.' She followed Brooke and expressed concern, 'How are you feeling? Are you in any pain at the moment?'
Worried she may have been too rough, causing Brooke more discomfort than intended. Brooke reassured Peyton, 'Nope, I'm completely pain-free, thanks to the pills the doctor prescribed.'
Peyton advised, 'On this date, don't push yourself too hard; you still need to heal.' Brooke assured, 'Don't worry, I won't overdo it.' She suggested, 'Let's have fun and focus on us, without any other distractions.'
Upon the blond nodding with a smile and stating, 'Sounds good to me,' while picking up her cup and taking a drink, she proceeded to ask, 'Ready to go, Brookie?' as she walked to grab her keys.
After a twenty-minute drive, the two arrived at the stable. 'Ready to see some horses?' Peyton inquired as she pulled into an empty parking spot.
Brooke jokingly responded, 'If I keep in one piece after your driving, yes.' Noticing Brooke's difficulty in getting out of the car, Peyton assisted her, remarking, 'Don't overwork yourself, babe,' before shutting the door once Brooke was safely out.
Holding Peyton's hand, Brooke reassured her, 'I'm okay, I'm just stiff,' as they made their way to the stable and encountered a woman with raven black hair. 'Hi, may I help you?' she asked.
'Ah, yes, my girlfriend and I are interested in going for a trial ride,' Brooke informed with a slight smile, despite feeling uncomfortable due to the woman's gaze.
Upon observing Brooke's discomfort with the woman staring at her bruises, Peyton inquired, 'Is it acceptable if we haven't ridden before?' She directed this query to the raven-haired woman to garner her attention.
'Certainly, it is not an issue. I will guide you on how to mount and dismount the horse,' the woman reassured as she led them both into the barn.
'That arrangement suits us,' Peyton acknowledged while holding Brooke's hand as they followed the woman to the barn. 'Let us first select a horse for the two of you,' the raven-haired woman proposed.
Brooke surveyed the barn, observing numerous horses peeking out. She released Peyton's hand and approached a dark stallion that nudged its head out for her to touch its nose.
'I'd advise against petting that one, as it can be temperamental,' the raven-haired woman cautioned, watching as Brooke gently placed her hand on the stallion's nose and softly whispered, 'Hello buddy,' while stroking it.
"you're not mean, but merely misunderstood?" Brooke whispered, petting the stallion who remained still as the brunette stroked his nose. It appeared as though he could perceive her emotions, his ears flicking as he step back to allow Brooke to enter the stall.
The brunette turned to the woman, inquiring, "May I enter the stall with him? I wish to ride him." Glancing back at the black stallion, she felt a sense of understanding between them, though she considered she might be imagining it.
The woman, with raven hair, hesitated but observed as the stallion stepped back to let the brunette in. "That is surprising. You might be the first person he has allowed to come close to him," she remarked, opening the stall slightly for Brooke to enter.
"I will fetch a few saddles and other supplies," she added. Peyton and Brooke nodded as Brooke entered the stable and approached the stallion, who gently sniffed her hand and lowered its head, emitting soft noises towards her.
Observing Brooke pet the horse, Peyton smiled and remarked, 'It appears that you have made a new friend.' As she observed, Peyton pondered potential solutions to acquiring a horse, especially considering the stable hand's warning about the horse being too difficult to manage.
Returning the smile, Brooke continued to stroke the stallion and softly uttered, 'I believe I shall name you Remi,' as she gently petted his nose.
Brooke rode alongside Peyton on the black stallion she had chosen. 'I wonder if this guy has a name,' she remarked as she stroked his neck, and the horse let out a soft neigh.
Glancing at Peyton, who merely shrugged, Brooke expressed her desire to give the horse a name for convenience. 'But didn't you just name him Remi?' Peyton inquired, prompting a moment of surprise from Brooke.
'Oh, I did?' she responded, unsure if she had indeed named him. Peyton teased her about the sudden change of heart regarding the name.
Blushing, Brooke turned to the stallion as they continued along the trail, questioning him about his feelings towards the name 'Remi.' She chuckled as the horse seemed to nod in agreement and let out a loud neigh.
See, he seems to like the name, so let's keep it. It really suits him," Peyton remarked with a smile, enjoying her girlfriend's moment of humor.
"And here I thought I was supposed to be the blonde one," she teased, laughing as she urged her horse to ride faster, just out of Brooke's reach to playfully avoid any retribution for her comment.
Brooke halted Remi, her mouth slightly agape, watching her laughing blonde partner race away from her. "Hey, get back here, P. Sawyer!" she called out, urging Remi to speed up to catch up.
Remi snorted as he began to move faster, closing the gap between him and Peyton. "Once I catch your skinny ass, Peyton, I'm going to get you," Brooke yelled, a grin on her face.
"You'll have to catch me first, babe," Peyton called back over her shoulder, gripping onto the horse's straps. Glancing behind her, she noticed Brooke gaining on her. "I'm on your tail, woman," Brooke called playfully, a smirk on both of their faces.
The horses neighed as they ran, eventually reaching a small creek which caused them to stop abruptly, unseating both women. Subsequently, a few splashes were heard as the women playfully screamed, causing the birds in the trees to scatter.
Brooke emitted a yelp upon landing in the water, fortunately realizing that the creek was deep enough to prevent any injuries. 'That's cold,' she squealed while sitting up in the water and scanning the surroundings for Peyton, who was joyfully swimming. 'Hey babe,' the blond greeted.
'Don't think you're off the hook, missy,' Brooke asserted as she swam after her girlfriend. Meanwhile, Remi and Molly, the gray and white mare named by Peyton, were contentedly grazing on grass nearby after snickering at the two women.
Peyton swam away from Brooke, who persistently pursued her. 'Stop swimming away, Peyton Elizabeth Sawyer!' Brooke exclaimed, reaching out for Peyton, her hand nearly grasping the blond's arm.
"You will have to be faster than that," Peyton remarked as she paused swimming to playfully splash Brooke, who retaliated by exclaiming, "Oh, you are so going to get it!" "This is for calling me a blond," Brooke squealed back.
After spending hours engaged in their splashing activity, the couple lay on the grass, catching their breath. They decided to take a break before returning to the stable to bring back the horses. "You are lucky I love you, P. Sawyer," Brooke stated, planting a kiss on Peyton's cheek.
Peyton chuckled and reciprocated by kissing Brooke on the lips rather than her cheek. "What am I going to do with you, B. Davis," Peyton playfully commented amidst the kisses. Brooke returned the kisses, laughing at Peyton's question. "You will probably end up marrying Luke and making the worst choice of your life," she teased.
Getting up from the ground, Brooke assisted Peyton to her feet and helped brush the grass off her clothes. "I think we should head back, then go home to change, and finally order some takeout," she suggested with a smile.
Upon hearing the proposal, Peyton nodded with a smile and expressed her approval by stating, 'I am agreeable to that suggestion.' She elaborated that the prospect of spending an extended period with Brooke was appealing, as it could potentially shield them from the various sources of drama and trouble that seemed to pursue them. The friends then resumed their journey back to the stable on horseback, both wearing smiles of contentment.
Brooke suggested enthusiastically that they repeat the enjoyable experience in the future, expressing her hope that Haley would permit them to bring Jamie along for a ride. Brooke's joy at the idea of introducing her Godson to the location and allowing him to engage in activities like playing in the creek was evident from her cheerful demeanor.
· Back At The Barn*
Brooke was rinsing off Remi upon their return from the trial ride. 'How was the ride?' Brooke inquired, directing her gaze towards Peyton as best as she could considering Remi was slightly taller than her.
Peyton responded with a smile, 'It was fun.' She hosed off Molly and then asked Brooke about her experience. In response, Brooke mischievously sprayed Peyton with her hose, causing Peyton to scold playfully, 'You are in for it, Brooke.' This led to a friendly water fight between the two, with Brooke laughing as Peyton retaliated by spraying her back.
However, the laughter soon turned into screams as the cold water splashed on the younger woman, prompting Brooke to exclaim, 'Hey, I just dried off after our last water battle.' Glancing at her wet shirt, she complained, 'Oh, you poor baby,' Peyton teased, spraying her once more.
Brooke chuckled as she directed her hose toward Peyton and sprayed her, then dodged when Peyton tried to retaliate. Remi snickered as he was accidentally sprayed instead of Brooke.
Brooke peered over Remi's back, exclaiming, 'That was not kind, Remi didn't provoke it,' in a playful scold, dodging another spray.
Peyton, speaking softly, assured, 'You can come out, darling,' as she devised a strategy to lure Brooke away from Remi. 'I'm finished, no more hose,' the blonde declared, concealing the hose behind her back to prevent the brunette from discovering her plan.
Brooke glanced over Remi to confirm if Peyton still held the hose. Not seeing it, she dropped her own hose and circled around Remi, inquiring cautiously, 'Are you certain?' She hesitated to fully trust her partner, especially given the mischievous grin on Peyton's face.
"Indeed, we shall call a truce," Peyton assured as she observed Brooke approaching her at a slow pace, with her hazel eyes fixed on Peyton's. "Very well, truce-" Brooke exclaimed when Peyton suddenly grabbed the hose from behind her and doused the brunette with water.
Brooke screamed as the cold water splashed on her. "You lying, jerk!" She accused Peyton while glaring at her. "You claimed you no longer had the hose," she added with a pout as Peyton chuckled. "I never guaranteed that I didn't have it," Peyton pointed out.
The brunette gave Peyton a fierce look. "You will face consequences when we return home," she warned as she led Remi back to his stable. "Stay alert, P. Sawyer," she advised. "Because I will retaliate when you least anticipate it," she threatened.
Peyton laughed and was about to reply when her phone rang. She checked the caller ID. "Who's texting you?" Brooke inquired as they made their way to the car.
'Haley has invited us to her house for a gathering,' Peyton relayed, glancing at Brooke's disapproving expression. 'Are we all expected to attend?' Brooke inquired, expressing a hope to avoid encountering Lucas.
Peyton confirmed and noticed the anxiety in Brooke's eyes. 'Darling, we don't have to go if you're uncomfortable. I'm certain Haley will-.'
Brooke shook her head, deciding against avoiding Haley any longer than they already had. 'No, we should not continue avoiding Haley. Let's go and hope Lucas doesn't cause trouble. He's probably spreading false information to Haley and Nathan,' she expressed.
Peyton reassured her and assisted Brooke into the car, promising, 'We will leave if things escalate, I promise.' As they drove home to change and freshen up before heading to Haley and Nathan's, Brooke remained hesitant to discuss her recent ordeal.
