Goblin Slayer: Survivors
Chapter two
"A goblin attack on the trade road?" Priestess asked, the young woman dressed in her usual garb, the white and gold holy robes.
Guild Girl nodded, "They were transporting members from the Temple, they fought the goblins off, even though they were all porcelain ranked."
"Lucky," Dwarf Shaman nodded, the shorter figure standing with them in the guild hall in Frontier Town.
"They also armed everyone with staffs and clubs," Guild Girl added, "it kept the goblins from taking them by surprise."
"Hmm," Goblin Slayer grunted.
"Would you do something like that?" Priestess asked him.
"Fighting goblins on open ground is challenging," Goblin Slayer said, nodding slightly.
"Agreed," Lizard Priest nodded. Goblins were sneaky, and could flank your party without you realizing it.
"I wonder who lead them?" High Elf Archer wondered aloud.
"Fighter, a porcelain ranked goblin attack survivor," Guild Girl said.
"Hmm," Goblin Slayer absorbed that.
"Ehh?" Priestess blinked, recognizing them.
Shortly after leaving the Temple, she had joined a party with Fighter, Wizard and Warrior. They had taken on a goblin slaying quest, but were ambushed. Warrior was beaten to death, Wizard poisoned and died, and Fighter taken captive before they were saved by Goblin Slayer...
"You know Fighter?" High Elf Archer asked Priestess.
"Sort of," Priestess admitted, "we adventured together, once."
As the discussion veered off to another topic, Priestess felt a pang of guilt. She had only visited Fighter once, at the temple, not long after the attack.
'At least it sounds like she did recover...,' Priestess mused.
She had not thought to ask where they had been going...

"Strike! Withdrawl! Strike!"
The novices were drilling with their staffs as they made camp not far from the trade road. They PROBABLY would reach their destination, Frontier Town, the next day, barring unexpected trouble.
"Okay, enough," Fighter called, "we should eat, then rest. Good work, everyone."
"Fighter, my back is so sore," Advanced Novice purred to Fighter as the girls dispersed, "could you rub it for me?"
"Ah...," Fighter blushed.
"Foods on," Beginner Knight called, interrupting them.
"Oh poo," Advanced Novice pouted.
Fighter puffed out a relieved sigh. Once everyone was fed she took the Adventurers aside, "We'll do the usual guard shits... one of us and a novice, two hours each."
"We're so near the town, do we really need guards?" Novice Archer asked, the young man frowning slightly
"Out on the frontier, there's a LOT of random monsters running around," Fighter said, slightly more experienced than the others. "And not just goblins."
"She's right," Rhea Dagger added seriously.
"Okay, okay," Novice Archer gave in.
"I'll take first shift," Fighter added.
"Next," Beginner Knight volunteered, then the others.
Senior Sister was overseeing the setting up of camp, the slightly older woman taking charge in a motherly sort of way. She was also going to be in charge of the new temple that was going to be built in Frontier Town.
"Fighter," she smiled warmly, "everything all right?"
"So far," Fighter said cautiously.
"You've done a good job watching over us," Senior Sister added, "thank you."
"Don't thank me until we get there," Fighter cautioned as the sun began to set, "things could still go wrong."
Senior Sister nodded slightly, "True. But... have you considered what you want to do next?"
"Hmm?" Fighter looked curious.
"No one would object to you continuing to help us," Senior Sister said, "but we both know you're capable of much more."
"Become an adventurer again." Fighter nodded. "I'm... thinking about it," she admitted.
Senior Sister added, "We need adventurers like you."

Lady Cleric nodded at Senior Sister as the group came over a hill. She was arguably the senior there, though she had kept a low profile. You never knew if someone might betray them, after all.
"Nearly there," Lady Cleric sighed. "I HATE travelling."
Senior Sister chuckled, "Agreed."
Lady Cleric mused, "The land around here looks good... we'll want to build the new Temple a bit out of town."
(The Church of the Supreme God as well as the one of the Earth Mother were building a new temple here. Both for worshipers, and to care for the growing number of people hurt in goblin attacks, monsters and such.)
"The Mother Superior mentioned Priestess is doing well there as a adventurer," Senior Sister added. "Hopefully she can help be a local guide."
"One of ours helps at the Guild there too," Lady Cleric added, referring to Inspector.
"A farm!" a novice ahead called. "WE must be nearly there."
Cow Girl's Uncle watched the group bemusedly, the older man nodding respectfully. "You're not far from Frontier Town," he pointed up the road.
"Thank you," Senior Sister smiled.
"Any monster attacks recently?" Lady Cleric asked.
"There was a goblin raid not THAT long ago," he admitted. "A group of local adventurers fought them off."
"They were AWESOME! It was so cool!" Cow Girl added eagerly, her bosom bouncing under her simple clothes.
Advanced Novice and several of the younger girls looked at her endowment enviously.
Senior Sister bit back a chuckle.
"Thank you," Lady Cleric nodded, "I look forward to being your neighbour."
"Good luck," Uncle waved as they moved on.
A few hours later, they arrived...

Fighter and the three adventurers were near the back of the party, and heard the happy shout of 'We're here!' up ahead.
"You were here before, right?" Rhea Dagger asked.
Fighter nodded, her expression serious. "My friends and I got our goblin slaying quest here," she admitted.
Beginner Warrior gave her a sympathetic look.
"Come on, we need to talk to Senior Sister," Fighter changed the subject.
"All right," Senior Sister declared, "we've arranged rooms in town."
The girls cheered tiredly.
"Remember this IS the frontier! Be careful," the older woman added.
"Right," the girls chorused.
\
"Sister," Fighter nodded, "I wanted to check.. would this be considered the Quest, completed?"
"You have escorted us here as contracted," Senior Sister agreed. "Thank you all for your help," she added formally.
"Yes! Assignment complete!" Rhea Dagger cheered.
Everyone except Fighter hurried to the guild hall. She smiled, "I'd..."
"DON'T LEAVE ME!" Advanced Novice gromped her from behind.
"ACK!" Fighter was knocked over.
Senior Sister covered her mouth as she fought back a laugh.
"Uhm...," a hesitant voice came from nearby.
Fighter looked up from where she was sprawled, and blinked as she recognized the young woman. Dressed in her holy robes, a steel nametag indicated her advanced rank as a adventurer.
"Priestess," Fighter blurted.
To be continued...
Notes: Not sure if there's actually a temple in Frontier Town. I know Priestess goes to a Temple to get new prayers and stuff, but I can't remember if it's THERE or not.
