Chapter 10
Tig POV
Bells and Opie were gone to the cabin to hopefully destress. I was worried about her. I knew that if we didn't get a grip on this Volturi stuff soon that she was going to crack. Clay and I were sitting at the diner having breakfast this particular morning. "You heard from Bells and Ope?" He asked me.
I shook my head. "Naw. I honestly don't expect to until they get back." I told him. "So I've been thinking but I wanted to get your opinion before I ran it by them." I said and Clay looked at me curiously. "What do you think about teaching her to fight?" I asked him. It was something that I'd been thinking about since she first got to Charming.
"I mean it would be beneficial. All of us know how to fight… Gem too." He said.
I nodded taking a drink of my coffee. "Thanks. I just want to make sure that if those pricks show up and none of us are around that she can defend herself." I told him.
"You think they will actually show up?" He asked.
I shrugged. "I hope not but Bells is convinced that their gonna keep coming after her. You heard anything from Hap or Kozik?" I asked him, cringing at Kozik's name.
He nodded. "Yeah. Hap'll be down Monday with the information. He wants to talk to Bells. See if he can get a feel from her about why their targeting her." Clay said.
I didn't like his tone. "You think she's lying to us." I said. I could feel the anger building.
"No that's not what I said. Hap and Kozik have been tailing these guys. Watching. He just wants to talk to Bells firsthand." Clay said.
I wanted to believe that he was telling the truth and that he didn't think that my daughter was lying to us all.
Bella POV
Ope and I were lying in bed and I had my head laying on his chest. "Hey Ope?" I said.
"Hmm?"
I took a deep breath because I had no idea how he was going to react to what I was about to ask him. "Do you want more kids someday?" I asked him.
"Someday." He said, but I could tell he wanted to say more.
I sat up and looked at him. "But?"
"I don't know. I'd like to think that you'd have my crow, maybe we'd even get married, move into a bigger house." He said.
I felt hopeful. "You've thought about it." I said.
He sat up in the bed and grabbed my hand. "I've thought about it since the first time I kissed you." He said.
I leaned over and kissed him. "Look at you… badass biker turning soft." I said smiling at him. "I think the kids took the news well." I said.
***Flashback***
Ope was making sure that the kids were getting dressed while I got breakfast on the table before I took them to school. We'd decided to tell them this morning that I was moving in. Ope knew that I wouldn't do it if the kids weren't ready for that kind of step. I'd just put the last plate on the table when the three of them walked in and sat at the table. "Okay so… Bella and I have some news." Ope said and the kids looked up at him. "What do you guys think about Bella moving in here with us?" He asked them.
"I'm good with it." Ellie said before returning to her food. That's one down.
"What about Mom?" Kenny asked. I knew that he'd had trouble since his mom had left but I also knew that he liked me.
"Ken, we talked about this. Mom and I aren't together anymore and Mom's not living here anymore." Ope told him.
Kenny looked over at me then back at Ope. "Are you guys gonna get married?" He asked. The question was familiar. Ellie had asked me the same question just a few days earlier when we'd gone shopping. I hadn't known the answer then.
"Maybe someday bud but even if we do… Bella won't take the place of your mom it'll just mean that you'll have two moms." Ope told him.
"And nothing will change?" Kenny asked. Ope and I both shook our heads. "Okay." He said before he finished eating.
"Okay eat up. Don't wanna be late for school." I said smiling.
***End Flashback***
"Yeah. I told you they would. They love you. They love having you there almost as much as I do." He said smirking at me.
"I've been thinking about something." I said and he raised an eyebrow at me. "What happens if Donna decides to come back?" I asked him.
He stiffened at my question. "Nothing. Nothing happens. She made her choice. She abandoned her family when I needed her the most. She abandoned her kids." He said.
"Ope, you can't really believe that she's not gonna come back once she hears that you've moved on and that there's someone taking care of her kids." I said trying to be logical.
"Babe. Like I said, nothing will happen. She doesn't matter." He said and I frowned. Not because I was sad but because Donna reminded me of my mom. "What's really going on?" He asked me, pulling me to him.
"All the stuff about Donna… it just makes me think about Renee, you know? Why did she leave? Where did she go? Did she love me? What would I say to her if she came back?" I said.
"Babe, if that were to ever happen…which I doubt it would, we'll handle it together. Okay?" He said. I nodded, not being able to form words.
Ope and I spent the rest of the weekend curled up together. It was definitely what was needed. But even so, it didn't keep me from worrying.
Jax POV
With Ope and Bells at the cabin, Clay wanted to take the time and really look into the pricks in Washington that keep harassing her. Hap was coming down Monday with some information that will hopefully be helpful. We were all worried, Bells hadn't been sleeping much so hopefully this weekend she'd be able to get some sleep. On a different note, Abel seemed to be getting stronger every day. He's supposed to be getting out of the toaster next week. Me and Ma and Bells took turns checking on him. Wendy was off at rehab again and things with Tara… were just kind of in Limbo. Not to mention Kohn was still lurking around. I couldn't think about that right now. Right now I had to focus on my family. On the assholes that were trying to hurt my cousin.
Bella POV
The weekend at the cabin with Ope was great. It was definitely what I'd needed. When we got home Monday morning, we dropped everything at the house before he headed to the Clubhouse. Uncle Clay had texted Ope last night and told him that a friend was coming that might have some information that could help us get the Volturi off my back. We didn't even know why they were so interested in me…but for some reason I couldn't shake the bad feeling that I had.
When Ope and I pulled up to the clubhouse, everyone was standing around in the barroom. Ope threw his arm around my shoulders. "Hap, good to see you." Ope said.
"You too man. This your girl?" The guy said.
Ope smiled. "Yeah man. Bells, this Hap. Hap, this is Bells. Tig's daughter and Gemma's niece." Ope told him.
"Nice to meet you." I said.
"You too." Hap said to me. "She got a tat in her future." He said to Ope.
I looked up at Ope and he smiled at me before looking back at Hap. "Yeah, just as soon as things settle down." Ope said.
"Just give me a call when it's time." Hap said.
"You know it." Ope said.
We all walked over to the bar. "Alright so here's what we found out. We've been tailing these guys since your run-in with the two that were here." Hap said opening a file folder. He slid some pictures across the bar. "Its pretty much the same people day in and day out… except for last Thursday. This woman showed up." He said sliding a picture over to me and Dad.
I looked down at the picture before I touched Dad's arm. "Bells, isn't that?" He asked.
"Yeah." I couldn't believe it. "It's Mom." I said looking up at him.
"That's your mom?" Hap asked.
I nodded looking back at Hap. "Yeah. I haven't seen her in ten years. She took off leaving me with my step-dad." I told him. I looked at Dad again. "Do you think I should call Charlie? Ask him if he's seen her."
Dad looked over at Clay and shrugged. Dad pulled me into his arms. "I don't know. We'll figure it out." Dad said.
"I need some air." I said, pushing past everyone and walking outside.
Tig POV
I couldn't believe this. What the hell had Renee gotten herself into. And what did Bella have to do with it. "There's more." Hap said.
I ran a hand over my face. "How much more?" I asked feeling the anger building up. He slid another picture towards me.
"They've kidnapped this man and according to our guy that we managed to get inside, they've been torturing him. We think that their trying to get information about Bella." Hap said.
Ope and I looked down at the picture. "It's Charlie." Ope said and I nodded.
"Bella can't know." I said and everyone nodded. "It'll kill her. She won't let them harm him if she can do anything about it." I said and looked to Clay.
"There may only be one way to end this." Clay said.
I know that he wasn't about to suggest that we hand my daughter over to these assholes. "What might that be?" I asked my anger present.
"We have to kill my mother." We all heard Bella say from the clubhouse door. She'd heard everything. Gemma was standing beside her. I knew the look that I saw in her eyes. She wanted to hand herself over.
"Bell…" I said.
They walked closer to us. "No Dad. It has to be done. Mom did this. I'm not entirely sure what exactly she has done… but what I do know is that she has probably sold me to the fuckers and now they've gone after Charlie. I have to." She said and I could see the tears building in her eyes.
"Absolutely not." Ope said from beside me.
"If Bells doesn't kill her, I will." Gem said.
I sighed. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to stop her. I looked at Ope and he was just as pissed as I was. "If we do this, it has to be planned out very carefully. I'm not having you get hurt." I said.
She nodded. "I know." Her face showed no emotion. "I know that none of you would let anything happen to me." She said, before she walked around all of us and headed toward the dorm rooms.
"You can't seriously be considering this?" Ope asked me.
I put a hand on his shoulder. "Go be with her while we plan. I promise you, we are gonna take care of this and then everything will go back to normal." I told him and he sighed.
"Yeah ok." Ope said before making his way in the direction that Bells did.
"Where do we start?" I asked.
Bella POV
I couldn't believe my mother. This was the icing on the cake. Not only did she abandoned me when I was a kid… she kept me from my family…and now she'd gotten herself into some kind of mess with the Volturi. And now they had Charlie. Dad knew that I wouldn't stand by and let them hurt Charlie. He knew what Charlie meant to me. The worst part was, I knew that if I went back to Forks, I knew that there was a chance that I would never come back to Forks. I couldn't stand the thought of never seeing Ope or the kids ever again, but I knew that this was something that I needed to do. I was going to kill my mother.
I was pulled from my thoughts by the sound of the door closing. I looked up from my spot on the desk where I'd sat when I came in, to see Ope standing there leaning against it. I sighed. "You understand that I have to do this right?" I asked him.
I rubbed his hand over his face. "I do but I don't." He said. He walked over to me and pulled me into his arms. He leaned his forehead against mine. "I just don't wanna lose you." He said.
I reached up and touched his cheek. "You're not going to lose me." I said.
He let go of me and took a couple of steps back. "Babe, you know that there is a possibility that as soon as they see you that their gonna kill you." He said looking at the floor.
I sighed. "They don't wanna kill me. They want me to marry one of the shot callers." I said.
He looked up at me. "What?" He asked me.
I nodded. "It was supposed to be Edward. But now I think that it might be Alec." I said, feeling the tears roll down my face.
"Isn't that the guy…" He trailed off not being able to finish his sentence.
"That raped me? Yeah." I said. I sighed. "I need to go talk to Clay and Dad." I said hopping off the desk.
As I started to walk past Ope, he grabbed my hand pulled me to him wrapping his arms around me. "We're gonna figure this out." He said. "Together."
"I know." I said.
Gemma POV
"I just can't believe her. Her own daughter. Why?" I said.
"Because she made a deal." I heard Bella say from the side of the room.
We all turned and looked at her and Ope. "What're you talking about?" Clay asked her.
Bells walked behind the bar, grabbing shot glasses and a bottle of whiskey. She started pouring shots and passing them around. "I haven't figured it all out yet but this is what I have so far. She made a deal… selling me to them so to speak. That's why she left me in Forks. From what Alice told me, I was supposed to marry Edward. Well we killed that plan. So now I think the plan is for me to marry a shot caller. Alec to be precise." Bells said before taking her shot. Then she poured another.
"The rapist?" Tig asked. Bells nodded. This just got more fucked up than it already was.
"You sure about this?" Clay asked her.
"Confronting them? No. Killing my mother for various reasons? Absolutely." Bells said.
I looked at her. Her eyes were dark. They were the eyes of a killer. They were the same eyes that Tig and Clay got when they were on a mission. "Alright. As of right now, we head to SAMTAC Friday morning. By then we'll have more of a plan. Bells, I want you to call this Alice and tell her that you'll meet them Saturday morning." Clay said.
Bells POV
I nodded. I pulled my phone out of my back pocket. I flipped it open and dialed Alice's number. "Hello." She said when she answered.
"It's me." I said.
"Hi." She said quietly.
"I'm coming to Forks." I told her, coldly.
"That's good. Do you remember how to get to the house?" She asked me.
"Yeah. I'll be there Saturday morning." I told her.
"Alright."
"Any idea who Jane plans to marry me off too?" I asked fishing for information.
"Alec." She said. "It was supposed to be Edward but he's MIA."
"Right." I said. "See you Saturday." I said before I hung up. I poured myself another shot. I quickly downed it.
"You okay?" Jax asked me.
"Peachy." I said before I walked out of the barroom.
I'd gotten drunk that night and passed out at the clubhouse. The next day, Gemma had taken me to her house and given me one of her guns. She said that there was a good chance that as soon as they got their hands on me that they'd search me. I knew they would. They weren't stupid. Just like they knew that we'd killed Edward and Emmett. Dad and I had spent some time together when I'd returned from Gemma's. He wanted to know if I was sure about everything. I told him that I didn't have a choice. I wasn't gonna let anyone get hurt because of me. I'd made him promise me that they'd make Ope stay at the SAMTAC clubhouse the day that everything happened. I didn't want him to see me if things didn't work out the way that we wanted them too. He told me that he'd do his best.
The night before we were set to leave for SAMTAC, I was sitting outside the clubhouse with a bottle of Jack. Jax had come outside to check on me. "You okay kid?" He asked me.
"Just trying to remember everything." I said.
"It's all gonna be okay." Jax said.
"I need you to do something for me Jax." I said and he nodded. "Saturday morning, I need you to make sure that Dad and Ope stay at SAMTAC." I said.
"Bells, you really think that anyone is going to be able to stop them?" Jax asked me.
"Just promise me Jax. I have no idea how any of this is going to play out and if something happens…" I trailed off trying not to think about it.
He put his arm around me. "Everything is gonna be fine. SAMTAC has been watching the place. They know all the ins and outs of the place." Jax said.
"Thanks Jax." I said. "I just hope that your right."
