A/N: This chapter is mostly about Ope and Bells. Little bit of Tara/Bells action. This chapter is about Bella's feelings about everything that is going on. This story is really progressing well. I'm extremely happy with it. Obviously some things are going to be different the further into the series that we get. I've wanted to write a story like this for a while. I don't think that I had originally planned for it to be a crossover, but it's coming together quite nicely. I hope that everyone is enjoying the story. If not, then I'm sorry. Anyway, here's the next chapter. Enjoy! Don't forget to read, review and favorite if you haven't already done so.
Chapter 20
Bella POV
The boys had been working hard, trying to get information on Ethan Zobelle and his right hand AJ Weston. We'd found out they were part of the Aryan Brotherhood. Dad and Clay had finally cornered me wanting to know about the guy that I'd talked to Donna about. It had taken me a little bit, but I'd finally told them that it was AJ Weston. Of course they weren't happy that I hadn't told them about him when they'd found me but they relaxed a little bit when I told them that the guy made me nervous. I'd heard from Gemma that ATF had raided Luann's studio and had completely wiped her out. So now SAMCRO had partnered up with her to get her back on her feet. Opie said that legit money verses the money that they get from the gun running.
Ope and I had met with Tara for our first appointment so that we could see how the baby was doing. Tara assured me that everything was fine. I was measuring at 13 weeks and 3 days. I'd also gotten registered for my online classes. I had a couple of weeks before I could start those. Ope and I had finally found a house that we loved. It was five bedrooms and it had a furnished basement that we could turn into an incredible playroom for all of the kids. It had a pool in the backyard. Dad was gonna pay for us to get a fence built around the pool.
I was working in the office at TM. Clay, Jax and Opie had gone to meet with the Irish. A couple of the other guys were at the new warehouse so it was just me, Gem, Dad and Half-Sack. I was busy filing when I heard the sirens. Gem and I both turned and looked out the window. "What now?" Gem asked.
We both walked out of the office. Hale stepped out of his jeep. I couldn't stand him. He always had some comment to make about my family. "Help you Deputy?" I asked.
"Ms. Trager, you are under arrest." He said, pulling his handcuffs from his belt and approaching me.
"What's the charge?" Gem asked.
"The disappearance of Donna Winston." Hale said.
I turned around so that he could slap the cuffs on me. I noticed Dad walk out of the garage and stand next to Gemma. "Don't worry Pumpkin." He said.
"Do not call Ope." I told him and he nodded.
"I won't. I'll call Rosen get him down to the station." Dad said as Hale led me over to his jeep.
Tig POV
"This has Zobelle written all over it." I said.
"What do we do?" Gem asked.
"We can't call Clay. He's with Jax and Ope. If we call him, he'll tell Ope." I said.
"Tigger, we may not have a choice. Get Rosen on the phone." Gem said.
I nodded. I walked into the Clubhouse and called Rosen. Told him that Bells had been taken to the station. He said that he'd have to send his partner down to handle it. When I got off the phone, I walked over to the office to update Gemma. Told her I was going to bail my kid out.
When I walked out of the office, Clay, Jax and Ope were pulling in. I walked over to Clay. "You don't look happy." He said to me.
"I'm not. Hale showed up. Arrested my kid for Donna's disappearance. This has Zobelle written all over it." I told him. He nodded. "I'm going to bail my kid out."
"I'm coming with you." Ope said.
Bella POV
As soon as Hale walked me into the station, Unser stopped us. "What the hell is this?" Unser asked Hale.
"Got an anonymous tip that she was involved with Donna's disappearance." Hale said.
"You are aware that she's pregnant right Hale?" Unser asked him, anger present in his voice. Then he looked at me. "Did you resist?" I shook my head. "Take the damn cuffs off." Hale took the handcuffs off me and I started rubbing my wrists. "I'm sorry sweetheart. Your Dad or Ope know your down here?" He said leading me towards his office.
"Dad does. I told him not to call Ope but I'm sure he knows too. Dad said he was gonna call Rosen for me." I told him.
Unser nodded. "I'm sorry about Hale." Unser said when he closed his office door. "Between ATF and now Zobelle in town…I'm not sure what's going on with him."
"I get it. I just don't know why he thinks I'm involved with Donna's disappearance. I didn't even know that she was missing." I told him.
"Its okay sweetheart. I'm sure that your Dad is on his way." Unser said.
"Thanks Chief." I said, smiling him.
Opie POV
When Tig and I walked into the Police Station, Hale was the first one that we found. "Where's my kid?" Tig asked him.
"Back in Unser's office." He said.
Tig and I started to make our way back there when Tig turned around. "You know, you might want to choose your friends more wisely." Tig said to Hale.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Hale asked.
"It means…my kid is innocent and you know that." Tig said.
"You sure about that. Cause I've got several witnesses that say that Bella was threatening Donna." Hale said.
"You know that I know about you and Donna right?" I finally said. Hale glared at me. "I know about the affair that the two of you had. Just like I'm pretty sure that you blame me for her leaving."
Hale walked towards me. "You know nothing. When you were in Chino, Donna was already planning her escape. She wanted to you to be inside for about a year, then she was going to file for divorce. The plan was for me and her to take the kids somewhere far from Charming. But then all of a sudden one day, she showed up at my apartment while the kids were at school and said that she couldn't do it. She said that she couldn't take the kids from you. She said that she already knew that you were gonna be heartbroken when you found out she was leaving, she just couldn't make it worse. Look, I know that it doesn't make anything better…but you weren't the only one that she left behind." Hale said.
"Your right…I may not know anything about your relationship with Donna but I know what mine was like. I also know that Bells is nothing like Donna. You have nothing. Just like I bet you didn't know that Donna was threatening Bells. She told Bells that she was leaving for good. Said she wasn't coming back this time." I said before I turned around and continued towards Unser's office.
Bella POV
After Dad and Ope picked me up from the station we headed back to the clubhouse. When I climbed off of Ope's bike, Gemma came running out of the office. She pulled me into a hug. "I was so worried." She said letting me go.
"I'm fine Aunt Gem. I need to sit. I'm tired." I told her and the four of us walked into the clubhouse. Some of the guys were sitting at the bar so I walked over and joined them.
"What happened kiddo?" Uncle Clay asked me.
"Hale's trying to connect me to Donna's disappearance. Claiming that several people have come forward saying that I threatened her." I told them.
"That's bullshit." Clay said.
"Yep. But there's more, right Ope?" Dad said.
I looked at Ope curiously. He ran a hand over his face. "When Donna and I were married and I was in Chino, she was having an affair with Hale. She was planning on leaving Charming with him and taking the kids. Well apparently she changed her mind. She took off, left the kids with me. He also said that when she came back to town they picked up right where they left off." Ope said.
I knew that Ope loved me. I never doubted his love for me but a part of me knew that when Hale had confronted him with information about Donna at the station it had been hard and it had hurt. I know that I didn't know Donna that well but one thing that I did know was that she had put him through a lot of shit. And now we find out that she'd had an affair. I needed to talk to Tara more about Ope and Donna when they were younger.
That night, I was cooking me and Ope dinner when he came in. I was missing the kids. The house was too quiet without them there. I wanted to bring them home. I knew deep down that we could protect them. I'd do whatever we had to do…live at the clubhouse…protection. I didn't care, I just wanted them home. I felt Ope wrap his arms around my waist. "How was the rest of your day?" He asked me.
"Lonely." I told him honestly.
He kissed the side of my head. "I know babe. Clay thinks that we might be able to bring them home soon. He said that he just wants to get a better idea of who these guys are before we do that." Ope said.
I turned the stove off and fixed our plates. I handed them to Ope and he took them to the table. I grabbed Ope a beer from the fridge and grabbed myself a bottle of juice. I sat at the table. "I just miss them so much Ope." I said, feeling the tears building up. "I want them home." I told him.
He reached across the table and placed his hand on top of mine. "I know babe. We're doing the best that we can. Why don't you go stay with Ma for a couple of days and spend some time with them?" He said.
"You think she'd be okay with that?" I asked him.
"I'm sure that she'd love it. I'll call her tomorrow and ask." He said.
"Thanks babe."
Tara POV
Bells and I were having lunch the day after she'd been arrested. I could tell something was bothering her. "You okay?" I asked her.
"Yeah, just missing the kids is all. House is too quiet without them around." She told me.
I nodded. "How was jail?" I asked her. She looked up and glared at me. "Jax mentioned it."
She nodded. "Course he did. Did he mention the information that we found out about Donna yesterday?" She asked me. I shook my head. "She had an affair with Hale." Bells said.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah. Apparently, while Ope was locked up they were gonna take the kids and get out of Charming. When she came back, claiming that she was here for her family, they picked up right where they left off." Bells said.
The irony of the statement wasn't lost on me. "You think that's what Jax and I did." I said.
She shrugged. "I don't know. You've become my best friend, but I guess sometimes I wonder if you two just jumped back into what you had before. Not taking the time to get to know the people that you are now. You know, I defended you to Gemma." I looked at her shocked. "Gemma isn't wrong often, but I'm one of the only people that can call her on her shit. Besides she knows that she was wrong trying to push Wendy back on Jax."
I nodded. "For what it's worth…I appreciate it." I said. She nodded. There was something else. "What else is on your mind?"
"Tell me about Ope and Donna…when they were younger." Bells said.
"Why?" I asked, curiously. I knew that she loved Opie and I knew that he loved her. In all the years that I'd known him, I'd never seen him as happy as he was with Bells.
She put her fork down and looked up at me. "I guess I'm just trying to understand. Understand the bond, how they lived, what went wrong." She said.
"Jax would be a better person to ask. I mean, yeah the four of us were close but he was around them more." I told her honestly.
"Okay." Was the only thing that she said.
That night, I walked into Jax's house to relieve Gemma. She was sitting in Abel's room. "Hey." I said when I walked in.
She looked up at me. "Hey baby. Good day?" She said.
I shrugged. "I'm worried about Bells." I told her.
She put Abel in his crib. "What do you mean?" She asked.
I leaned against the wall. "She was asking me about Opie and Donna's relationship today. Told me about Donna and Hale. I mean, I know that she misses the kids…but this is something else." I told her.
I could tell that Gemma was thinking. "Ope is trying to get her to go spend a couple days with Mary and the kids. Between the shit with Weston and Donna and then the kids being gone, she's struggling. Opie thinks that she's on the verge of a breakdown. We just have to be there for her. I think that for the most part she's just trying to figure out why Donna couldn't love him." Gemma said.
"You know, Opie came to see me at the hospital the other day. He wanted to know what I thought about him giving Bells his crow." I told her.
"What did you tell him?" She asked me.
We walked to the living room so that she could grab her stuff and go home. "I told him that he should do it. You know when Jax and I were younger, I didn't think that I could handle this life…sometimes I still don't. But then I look at Bells…she tackles everything that is thrown at her. She's made for this life. Not to mention the fact that I've never seen Opie as happy as he is with her." I told her.
"This life is hard, you know that. It's not easy, but I think that you've done remarkably well since you've come back into it." Gemma said.
"Is that compliment?" I asked with a smile.
She grabbed her purse and hugged me. "Take it." She said.
Bella POV
Opie had called Mary and talked to her. She said that she'd love to have me come stay for a few days. So here I was packing for my trip to go see her and the kids. In a way I was excited. I was ready to see the kids. I missed them so much. I mean, I know that biologically they weren't mine…but I felt like they were my kids. I would do anything that I could for those kids.
I was trying to finish packing when Opie came walking into the bedroom, I sat on the bed so that I could put my clothes into my suitcase. "Hey babe." I said, when he laid across the bed.
"Hey." He said tiredly.
"Long day?" I asked him.
"Yeah. So Hap is in town, wanna get your crow before you head to Ma's?" He asked me.
I nodded. "Sure can I finish this first?"
"Yeah, need any help?" He asked me.
"Nope. I'm just about done. Have you seen the ultrasound pictures? I wanna take them to show your mom." I said.
He rolled over and laid on his back and rubbed his hand over his face. "I think that their on the coffee table." He said.
"Thanks." I said. I grabbed the last stack of my clothes that I was taking and put them in my suitcase.
When I finished packing, Ope and I headed over to the clubhouse. When we walked in, Hap was sitting at the bar with Jax and Tara. I hugged Jax and Tara. I still didn't know Hap well enough to hug him. I mean, granted he'd helped me out twice now, I still didn't feel comfortable doing it. "You ready?" Hap asked me.
I nodded. "Ready as I'll ever be." I said. Ope and I had talked about my Crow tat. We had talked about the design and where I would want it. I remembered the conversation so vividly in my head as Hap led me back to one of the dorm rooms.
***Flashback***
Ope and I were laying in bed, I had my head laying on his chest. "So what does this Crow tattoo entail?" I asked him.
"SAMCRO has a crow design that the Old Ladies get. The only thing that makes each one different is the name." Ope said rubbing his hand up and down my back.
"Interesting. Any particular place that you want me to get it?" I asked him.
"Your asking me where I think you should get your Crow tat?"
I sat up and looked at him. "Just thought that I'd see if you had a particular place in mind?" I smirked at him.
He sat up a little bit and said, "How about here?" He asked kissing my left collarbone.
"Hmm…that might be nice." I told him. He pulled me into his lap and I wrapped my arms around his neck. "So, I've been thinking…when our little bean here is born, I wanna get all three of the kids' names tattooed on me." I said.
He had a look of adoration on his face. "You're sure?" He asked me. I nodded. "I think that it's a great idea if it's what you really want." He told me.
I took one of my hands and put it on the side of his face. "They may not be mine but I love those kids as if they were mine." I told him, before I leaned in and kissed him.
He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close. "I love you so much." He said.
"I love you too."
***End of Flashback***
By the time that Hap had finished with my tat I felt like my whole body was on fire. When he told me that he was done, he helped me up and I walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. It was beautiful. The Crow wasn't small but it wasn't huge either. In the claws of the Crow was a scroll with a name "Opie W." I felt the tears build up and I tried to push them down.
I stepped out of the bathroom and Hap was cleaning up all of his supplies. "When you get done, can you get Opie for me?" I asked him. He nodded.
I walked back into the bathroom, closed the lid to the toilet and sat down. I was feeling so many emotions right now that I was having trouble separating them. I don't know how long I had been sitting there when I looked up and Ope was standing in the doorway. "You okay?" He asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah I wanted you to see it before anyone else." I told him.
He nodded. He walked over to me and crouched down. "Let me see." He said.
I pulled the front of my tank top down a little and showed him. "What do you think?" I asked.
I gasped. "It's beautiful and sexy. I don't think that you've ever looked more hot than you do right now. I don't think that I've ever been more turned on than I am right now." He said. He stood up. Then in one swift motion he picked me up. I quickly wrapped my arms around his neck. He carried me into the bedroom and gently laid me on the bed. "I love you so much Bells. I don't know what I'd do without you."
I reached up and put my hand on the side of his face. "I love you too."
The next morning, I was up before Ope. I knew that I needed to get on the road. However, I also knew that if I waited for Ope to get up that I wouldn't leave. I loved him so much. Our family was growing and because of stupid people our family couldn't be together right now. Opie had given me his Crow. Gemma had explained to me the weight of what it meant. It was essentially the same as a marriage certificate. I was happy. For the first time since the accident, I truly felt happy. Granted I'd be even happier when my family could be all together but for now this would be okay. I just wanted all of my family to be safe and happy. The sooner Zobelle and Weston were dealt with the better.
