A/N: Sorry it's been so long. My head just hasn't been in it. Besides that I'm trying to keep with the episodes the best that I can so I don't want to rush the time line of this story. Here's the next chapter.
Chapter 25: Gilead
Bella POV
I couldn't believe this. All of the guys except Ope had been arrested. Dad was in jail. Ugh! I had no idea how we were going to get them out or even get them protection on the inside. Now we were sitting in the clubhouse talking to Rosen trying to figure things out.
"They're jamming us." Gemma said. "Seven figure bail, no court date, it's bullshit."
"Apparently they have security tapes." Rosen said. "Women and children running for their lives." I rolled my eyes.
"You saw what happened to Otto. They've got no protection." Gemma said.
"I know." Rosen replied.
"What about a bondsman?" Tara asked.
I turned my head to look at her. Maybe she was on to something.
"500,000 a head, at 10 percent, you'd need 300k to get the six of them out." Rosen said.
"I can post the house." Gemma said.
"My dad's too." Tara and I both said at the same time.
Gemma looked at me. "After Dad's bounty hunter adventure he made me his power of attorney." I told her and she nodded.
"Well that's enough to get out Clay. Maybe Jax and Tig." Rosen said. "That's it." I hung my head. This was a nightmare. When I looked back up, Rosen was handing Gemma something. "Clay needs you to call Laroy, deliver this message, asap. I never saw it. Never gave it to you." Rosen said before he stood up and left.
"Gem, this is bad." I said looking over at her.
Opie POV
A little while later, I saw my mother pull into the parking lot and Kenny and Ellie get out of the car. I'd been grateful to her, she'd actually been there for us with everything that Bells had been going through. "Why aren't they at school?" I asked Ma.
"Grading day." Ma said. "You get my message?"
I rubbed my hand over my face. "It's been crazy here with everybody gone and Bells." I said and Ma nodded understanding. I knew that she was here to say goodbye. She wasn't one to stick around long.
"Gonna head up to the cabin make sure Piney's not dead." She said. Yeah ok.
"Bells is here somewhere I'm sure we can handle things. Thanks Ma." I said.
She smiled at me and went to get back in her car.
Bella POV
I was sitting in the office working on some paperwork when Opie had come in with the kids. I told them to sit on the couch and they did. Kenny pulled out his gameboy and Ellie had a book to read. I was happy to have them near me. Ever since the miscarriage, I didn't like for them to be out of my sight for very long. I had become very protective of my family. Including Jax and Abel.
A little while later Gemma came in and looked at Ellie. "Where's grandma?" She asked.
"She went to find grandpa." Ellie told her.
Gemma nodded before she turned to me. All I could do was shrug. A few minutes later, Gemma and I stepped out into the garage bay where Opie was. "That was Clay." He said.
"On the cell?" She asked.
He nodded. "Needs me to run an errand." He said. "It's gonna take a while." I knew what that meant. He was doing something to get the guys protection.
I looked at Gem. "Give us a minute." She nodded and went back to the office. I turned back to Ope. "We'll be fine. I'm fine." I said and he nodded. He wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on the top of my head. "Just make sure to come back home okay?" I said.
"I promise." He said before he kissed the top of my head and left.
Opie POV
After I'd met with Trammel I'd headed over to Cara Cara to find Lyla. I'd found some Coke vials in her car when I was fixing it. I was hoping that she could get me the dope that I needed. "Where's Lyla?" I asked when I walked in.
"She's right over there." One of the girls said.
I walked over to Lyla's dressing room. "I got your message." She said. "What do you need?"
Here goes nothing. "I saw the Coke vials when I was working on your car." I said as she crossed her arms. "I need to ask a favor." She nodded. "Call your dealer, ask him to make a delivery. Half an ounce."
"That's a lot of blow." Lyla said. "What's it for?"
"To help the club." She stared at me for a minute. "That's all I can tell you."
Lyla rolled her eyes. "Shit." I raised an eyebrow. "Angus is an asshole. Everytime he makes a drop, he won't leave till I blow him." She said.
"So I guess you wouldn't be too upset if he never came back?" I asked her.
"Should I ask why?"
"Look, you don't know. I'm sorry for coming to you but I'm up against it here. Bells, my old lady she's struggling. I need your help and I promise it won't blow back on you." I said. I didn't make promises lightly. I just hoped that Bells would understand. I needed Lyla's help right now and part of me thought that maybe she could benefit from Bells' help at some point.
Lyla nodded. "Okay."
Gemma POV
We were running out of ideas of where we could get bail money. Between the three of us there was no way that we were gonna be able to come up with 300K. Bells was struggling…and bad. Ever since the miscarriage she'd been keeping Kenny, Ellie and even Abel close. She didn't like for them to be out of her sight. It was understandable. Not many people knew it, but shortly after Clay and I started sneaking around behind John's back, I'd gotten pregnant. I'd ended up having a miscarriage a few week later, but I understood what Bells was going through. It felt like a piece of you was missing.
I'd called Oswald's office and they'd told me where I could find him. So here I was walking into a Catholic church to talk to him. I saw his daughter Tristan walking toward me. "Hi sweetheart." I said.
She smiled at me. "Is this your baby?" She asked.
I shook my head. "I'm grandma." I said.
"I'll meet you out front, Trissy." Elliot said.
I sat down next to him. "I'm gonna be out of town for the recital." He said. "Trying to catch some rehearsals."
"You're a good dad." I said. "How's she doing? Dealing with the rape and all?"
"Therapy's been helping a lot. She's starting to talk about it. Heard about Bells? How's she?" He said.
I shrugged. "Dealing…I guess. Doesn't say much. And when she does she tells us she's fine. Opie's worried about her." I said.
He nodded. "I heard about Clay." He said.
I nodded. "Your office told me you were here. Didn't know who else to go to."
"Maybe it's time for a lesson Gemma, for all of us."
"Maybe." I said. "But this isn't it. Zobelle set up that bust. He's ripping apart the club, he's ripping apart Charming. Clay outed Jacob Hale's bullshit scam, saved your land. Thought maybe you'd like to return the favor."
"How big a favor?"
"300 against three mil." I said.
"Jesus Christ." Elliot said. "I'd have to put up the same land for that kind of bail." He said. "One infraction, one guy splits I lose it all."
"They're not safe Elliot. If I don't get them out of there, I might not see any of them again."
"I'm sorry."
Bells POV
I was sitting in the office later in the afternoon when the girl from the other day walked in. "Hi." I said, leaning back in my chair.
"Hi, I'm Lyla. Opie said I could find you here." She said.
I nodded. What the hell was he up to? "What do you want?" I asked, maybe more bitchy than intended.
"I helped him with something for the club and in return he asked me to come by and talk to you." She said. I nodded to the couch for her to sit down.
Lyla and I talked. She told me about the coke and I told her about the miscarriage. Granted I had Tara but it might also be nice to have Lyla as a friend as well. She and Chibby would get along great.
About an hour after Lyla left Gemma came in. "Where are the kids?" She asked me.
"Sent 'em home with Tara."
Gemma nodded. "I know your struggling. We can all see it. I want you to remember something. I've been there. I know what you're going through. Right now you're in the protective stage; you want to keep everyone close because you think that keeps them safe. But sweetheart… you have to live your life. You can't live scared." Gemma said.
"Did you tell yourself the same thing? You know after?" I asked.
She nodded. I have to tell myself that every day just to make it through the day."
I nodded.
Gemma POV
When Ope had shown back up I'd told him to take Bells home and give her something to knock her out. She needed to rest and she needed to not think.
"How long do you think we can keep Charming the way it is, Gemma?" I heard Elliot say from the doorway. I looked up at him.
"I don't know." I said.
"Everything caves under the weight of greed. Seen it my whole life. Nothing stays simple." He said.
"Guess that's true." I said.
"I called Rosen. Posted bail a few hours ago."
"My god."
"Promise to keep them out of trouble until after the trial."
"I'll chain 'em to the auto lifts if I have to." I said. "Thank you Elliot."
"Thank Tristan." He said. I looked at him confused. "She remembered what Bella did for her. She asked me to help."
"Well thank her for us."
"Good night."
Bella POV
When Opie and I walked into the house I walked to the guest room… Mary's room. All of her stuff was gone. I walked back to the living room. "All of Mary's stuff is gone. She split." I said. "I'm sorry."
He shrugged. "She couldn't be a mom 20 years ago. Can't do it now."
"We'll be fine, Ope." I said. He nodded.
A few minutes later his phone rang. He said a couple of things to the person on the other end and then hung up. "Their coming home." He said.
I threw my arms around his neck. "Thank god."
