Tourney Tourament

Previously on Descendants:

The doctors and nurses were working long and hard to save Carlistle's life.

Jane opened the locket that she always wore around her neck, there was a picture of herself and Carlos on their wedding day, "What would you do in a situation like this?" she asked Carlos in the picture.

Daniella, Auradon's own Princess Mallory, and Julian walked up to Jane.

"Poor Carlistle." Julian said.

"What a sad thing to happen." Daniella observed.

"A very sad thing, we're so sorry, Aunt Jane." the Princess of Auradon agreed.

"We must have faith that Carlisle will pull through this." Jane said gently.

"You're right as usual, Aunt Jane." Princess Mallory said.

Carlistle had one final vision.

Within his vision, Carlos and Carlistle were repairing the palace alarm for Auradon's royal family.

When Carlistle prepared to drop to the floor.

"Carlistle! What's wrong, my son?" Carlos asked.

"I'm... really... sleepy... Dad..." Carlistle began.

"No, Carlistle! Listen to the voices all around you!" Carlos exclaimed.

"Voices," Carlistle asked. "what voices, Dad?"

"Please, Carlistle," the Princess of Auradon prayed. "open your eyes."

"Princess?" Carlistle asked, recognizing Mallory's voice.

"Our little clique won't be the same without you." Julian said to Carlistle.

"Julian?" Carlistle asked.

"You have got to wake up! Carlistle!" Daniella pleaded.

"Ella?" Carlistle asked.

"The voices of your friends, Son," Carlos said to Carlistle. "now, follow them."

"I'll miss you, Dad." Carlistle said.

Within a few minutes, Carlistle opened his eyes to see the faces of his loving mother and his three friends staring back at him.

"Hey! Look," the Princess of Auradon called. "he awake! Carlistle's awake!"

"Hello, everyone." Carlistle said.

Now on Descendants:

The doctor came in, "Princess Mallory, Daniella, and Julian, visiting hours are almost over." he said.

"I guess we had better be going home." Mallory sighed.

"Take care, Carlistle." Julian said, patting Carlistle on the back.

"Thanks, Julian." Carlistle said.

Daniella was the last one to leave.

"See you back at school, Champion." Daniella said to Carlistle.

After his companions left, Carlistle turned to his mother.

"I saw Dad, Mom." Carlistle said.

"You saw your father?" Jane asked Carlistle.

"I repaired the palace's alarm with him." Carlistle said to Jane.

"So I see, I'm glad you saw your father again," Jane said to Carlistle gently. "it's comforting to know he's looking out for us."

Carlistle leaned back against his pillows.

"It is, Mom." Carlistle smiled.

"Get some sleep, Carlistle," Jane smiled back as she kissed Carlistle on the forehead. "I'll be back later."

Carlistle didn't have to be told twice, because he fell fast asleep instantly.

The next day at Auradon Prep, Mallory showed up on the tourney field wearing Carlistle's uniform.

"What are you doing here," James asked Mallory. "tourney is a dangerous sport! And girls will get hurt!"

"Carlistle is still in the hospital recovering from his coma," Mallory reasoned with the eldest of the Hook twins. "so someone needs to fill in for him."

James just rolled his eyes at the Princess of Auradon.

"Mallory," James said. "this is not a good idea!"

"Well, why not," Mallory said. "I know the game."

"Like I said, it's a dangerous game," said James, he paused and pointed at the other team, "especially the way that they play it! Carlistle has suspected since the beginning of the season that our 'honorable' opponents really aren't."

"Look," Mallory said. "I'm fully aware of the risks of the game, and I've known about Carlistle's suspicions for some time, but we can't forfeit the game!"

"I'm not just talking about the risks of the game itself," James said. "I'm referring to the risk to my personal health and well being. if you get hurt out there, your mother would kill me!"

"I will take full responsibility for this," Mallory said. "besides, if what Carlistle says is true, that the other coach as been encouraging his team to play dirty, then bribing the referee to look the other way, what better way to expose him than to go through with the game?"

James sighed, "Fine, it's against my better judgement but you can play." he said after a long pause.

Mallory hugged James, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are nothing at all like your namesake! Your paternal grandfather was a mean old guy!"

Mallory then released her grip upon James.

"Just be careful out there," James warned Mallory. "if anything were to happen to you, I would never forgive myself!"

"I'll be careful, James," Mallory said. "I promise."

Mallory and James went out onto the tourney field for the match.

After the game, Mallory and James raised hands in glory.

Coming up in chapter 15: We Are The Champions:

"Hail Princess Mallory," James exclaimed. "the hero of the game!"

"I can't believe it! I won the game for Auradon!" Mallory exclaimed, she was excited.

"You are truly this team's MVP." Julian exclaimed.

"We are the champions," the Princess of Auradon exclaimed. "I can't wait to tell Carlistle and Ella! They're at the hospital, this calls for a celebration!"
