Bid for Freedom

After making sure he was ready to act at a moment's notice, Gar went looking for the mind of Mido.

Entering his mind, Gar planted the thought that Psimon told him to remove the subject from the pod to run some tests. Once Mido started the procedure, Gar quickly returned to his new body and fully submerged his mind into it to take full control.

As his mind merged with the body, Gar became aware of all his senses once again. Not just the vague sense of pressure around him and opened his eyes.

Just like Monkey said, the body didn't feel drugged and was full of energy. Gar attributed this to the sap from The Parliament of Limbs.

Feeling the liquid drain out of the pod, Gar was in he could only wait for the door to open unless he wanted to change into something that could break out of it. [No sense in wasting energy, who knows what all is out there?]

Deciding to hold off on that unless it becomes necessary, so far Mido has been doing just fine on releasing him. Unfortunately, Gar didn't notice the blinking red light in the corner of the computer panel.

Once the liquid was at his knees, Gar reached up to pull the mask off his face. His limbs felt a little stiff like they hadn't been stretched for a long time, but he moved to work them as loose as he could.

Once the pod door opened fully, Gar stepped out and apparently, this action was enough to wake Mido from his mental suggestion.

With eyes going very wide, all Mido could say was "How, wait, what...?". As soon as he reached for the control panel, Gar punched him to quickly knock him out.

Quickly rifling through his clothes in hope, Gar looked around the office, noticing that other than the door, the only way out would be the vent in the ceiling above his pod.

Finding Mido's phone on him, Gar looked it over only to see it was numerically password protected, quickly entering his mind Gar was amused to find the password was the day and month Queen Bee first spoke with him.

Peeking out the glass window of the door, Gar was able to see a red strobe light going off above the door and a group of guards all in grey rushing towards it carrying rifles.

Quickly morphing into a monkey, Gar jumped and grabbed the vent cover, pushing the phone through the opening, he dropped down and returned to his form now naked as the spandex shorts he had on didn't stay after transforming.

Taking a moment to figure out what form he could morph into that would fit his needs, Gar settled on a small squirrel that should be able to fit in the vent cover and still have the strength to carry the phone.

Quickly changing into the squirrel form Gar imagined in his head, he jumped to the top of his old pod, then made the leap for the vent just barely making it.

Grabbing the phone, he made a run for it. Not realizing that the guards who had just burst into the room could clearly hear his nails clicking on the tin vent as he ran. Calling it out on their radio they waited for instructions and took the scientist into custody.

Patting himself on the back for the perfect Houdini act he pulled, Gar made his way through the vent system, amused at the thought they were trying to figure out how he disappeared into thin air.

[If memory serves, the best bet is for me to head down to the lowest floor where all the Beetle mumbo jumbo is and there should be a hangar there leading out. Then I just have to call M'gann at the phone number mom showed me and convince her I'm not trying to lead her into a trap.]

[Comic law will dictate that she is either on a mission, has her version of Gar standing next to her or she will just not answer a random phone number calling her.]

Trying to think up options as he moved, Gar finally reached the lowest level of air vents. Quickly jumping out and hiding behind some rubble, Gar shifted back to his normal body breathing hard. [That's the longest I have had to hold a body and technically it's only the second form this body has held, other than my natural one. Plus it was very small.]

Glancing around to get the lay of the land Gar could see a bank of computer screens and related panels. Then he spotted the wall with the beetle carved into it with surrounding hieroglyphs. Finally, Gar saw the long runway and the cliff to his freedom.

Keeping low and hopefully out of sight, Gar moved along the wall fully aware he was naked as the day he was born. [Well, made, I guess.]

Interrupting his musings about whether he was born or not, Gar could see what looked like a carving of Mars Martians in all their natural glory, but the color showed one to be white and the other yellow. They were depicted as leaning over a table with a human on it. [Weird, but I have other things to think about right now.]

Deciding he would file this bit of information away for later, Gar fealt a tug from under his skin on his right shoulder. Looking over his left shoulder, Gar saw a very large gray fist heading his way.

Gar ducked just in time and noted the fist went through the bit of wall he was just looking at. Looking at the other end of the fist, Gar could see a large gray-skinned person?

[Oh crap' that's Mammoth!]

Gar heard him yell "Sis Shimmer, he over here! I find him!" as loud as he could.

Thinking quickly, Gar yelled "Don't call your sister over here, I'm NAKED! Pervert!" He turned his back towards Mammoth, as if protecting his modesty, and dropped the phone to the ground.

"NOO I no pervert! Sis don't come over here!"

Shaking his head at Mammoth's mental state, Gar quickly shifted into a Clydesdale horse and unloaded both his back hooves on Mammoth's surprised chin.

As Mammoth flew backward due to Gar's cheap shot, he returned to his form and grabbed the phone back up off the floor. Thinking he needed a place to put it, Gar could think of the only animal that came with a pocket and well, [Go-go kangaroo.]

Feeling the immense power of his back legs, Gar started jumping down the runway and then tried to put the phone in his pouch as he saw Shimmer headed his way.

[What the hell! Male kangaroos don't have a pouch?] That's the only thing he could come up with as he was just rubbing the cell phone along his furry belly not finding the pocket he had hoped for.

Changing back to his body in all its naked glory, Gar got the shiver in his brain that signaled Psimon was coming.

[Enough of this!] Gar thought, then he placed the phone in his mouth and changed into a Cheetah. Resentering his thoughts, Gar ran around Shimmer and just SPRINTED down the runway with no intention of stopping.

As soon as he got to the cliff, Gar jumped off like he was trying to get to the other side of the valley the door opened up to. Relaxing his form, Gar reverted to normal, and he quickly learned that it's hard to concentrate when you are falling hundreds of feet to the cold hard ground.

Taking the phone out of his mouth so he didn't bite through it as he tried to concentrate, he put the form of a golden eagle in his head and grabbed The Red with all his might, hoping he could make the change before he hit the ground.

Grabbing the phone with his talons, his wings stretch out, he didn't even try to flap, just locked his arms/wings out and let the wind lift him away from the ground. His body panting with effort and fright.

As soon as he thought he was out of sight of anyone watching him, Gar started looking for a place to land and make his call.

Seeing the sun was about halfway down or up on the horizon, He was not sure if it was morning or evening. [What direction am I facing?] Finding an overhang that he could hide under, Gar looked at the phone and saw it said 8:20 PM. Gar figured his directions from there and tried to come up with what he was going to say on the phone.

With her solid gold stinger-shaped earrings swaying as she walked through the cavern, she didn't even try to hide the irritation she felt. With a piercing stare at Psimon, she said "Explain!" and waited

"The subject that was cloned from the blood of the Logan child you brought us, along with blood from Martian Man Hunter, somehow woke up and managed to escape. I was just in his room around 6 PM and personally scanned his mind, I saw nothing but empty conciseness. With no brain patterns noticeable, there was no security on him besides the one scientist who was monitoring him. "Psimon reported without pause.

Continuing after a breath "The scientist Mido by name opened the pod without clearance, and the alarm sounded outside his room. Once security got there, they found Mido unconscious and heard a scraping sound coming from the vents. After reporting, they took Mido into custody and the base went on lockdown."

Pausing to let the information sink in, Queen Bee replied "It's a good thing this is not a project of The Light. Put automatic doors on the vents to close with an alarm and double the effort on the doors for the runway cliff. This will not happen again." walking away she finished by saying

"Interrogate the scientist and get what information you can. Also, double our offer to Devastation, we need more security for the times to come. "

Looking at Mammoth and Shimmer with contempt.

"Hunt the boy down, send Rhino and these two failures. I want him back; we need to see how he gained conciseness without the aid of Cadmus Genomorphs!" Queen Bee finished as she left the hangar.
