End of an Adventure
Knowing they were getting close, Miss Martian called out "Team, we are about to the area the directions indicated."
Keeping Bio-ship in camouflage mode the team started to look around for anything of note.
Soldier Girl called out, "I got a dust cloud at the ship's 9:00 direction, it's staying in one place so it is not a natural occurrence."
"We are not supposed to be here, so we need to grab our guy and get out of there without causing an international incident. If there are meta's or enhanced it shouldn't blow back on us, but if it's just soldiers then we have to act without being seen." Miss Martian said.
As they approached closer, they were able to make out specific figures, and Bioship started tagging them in her monitors.
Stating the obvious, Kid Flash comments "Looks like 3 dozen basic soldiers, Shimmer and her brother Mammoth along with Rhino. That is a weird combination."
Miss Martian questioned, "Anyone see who they are after? He didn't leave a description but made it sound as though we would recognize him." In her worry, she forgot they had all listened to the same message.
Wonder Girl pointed out, "Soldiers are being pulled into the ground and left with just their heads showing, is the culprit perhaps who we are here for?"
Kid Flash called out, "Look at Shimmer, something has her!"
Miss Martian, Wonder Girl, and Soldier Girl all shudder as the tentacles wrap up the villainess with one tentacle waving just in front of her face. Then she too is left with just her head above ground.
Getting her head back into the fight, Soldier Girl calls out, "If our guy is underground, he is about to get a headache."
Just as she spoke, Rhino jumped up and when he came down he, slammed both hands on the ground creating a crater under him and sending dust all around, making visibility much harder.
The young heroes saw a giant worm-like creature erupt from the ground and then turn into a green teenager who continued to roll around holding his head in his hands. Luckily the dust from the slam to the ground gave him enough time to collect himself before any soldiers could shoot at him.
Hearing him shout at Rhino, Diana says, "It looks like his request for garments was not in jest." Turning her head so no one would see her slight blush at the first time she saw a naked male, even if he was green.
Everyone was a bit amazed when the green teen changed into a green Rhino and slammed into the villain Rhino who got the worst of the collision.
Looking at Miss Martian, Solder Girl asks, "Are we going to help or not, he will not last long with that many soldiers with rifles. He is fine now but Rhino skin isn't tank armor!"
Shaking away the surprise of seeing a Teenage Gar, using his powers to boot, Miss Martian called out, "With confirmed enhanced we can engage but not apprehend. We are still outside our jurisdiction."
"Kid Flash and Soldier Girl neutralize the soldiers, when you are done join Wonder Girl and I as we assist the boy."
Meanwhile, Gar was struggling to find Rhino and just kept moving so as to not provide a stationary target.
Running through his head for creatures that could be helpful, Gar thinks of a Stegosaurus and its wicked tail, but he can't remember if it was decently armored.
Big animals with heavy enough armor to ward off rifle fire are just few in number, and all the ones that are fast enough to get him out of here wouldn't last with this many people shooting at it.
Feeling a gentle nudge to his mind Gar opened a small hole in his mental defenses ready to slam it shut, and asked {M'gann, is that you?} The surge of young Garfield's memories influenced his tone.
{I'm here with my team to help, but I have so many questions for you.}
{I know blood sis, but we should invite your uncle before we get too deep into it. This will concern him and Garfield Logan just as much. Though I think we should discuss what all to tell Garfield before talking to him.}
With this conversation taking place in milliseconds, Gar continued. {I have telepathic abilities but little control over them so it's best not to link me with the team, but could you tell me where the fake Rino is? I really want to fold another truck in half with him.}
Waiting on Miss Martian's directions, Gar noticed a yellow and red streak taking weapons away from the soldiers and gently pushing them down so as to not hurt them. He then threw each weapon at a girl with Wolverine's claws. [No that doesn't look right its only 2 blades and it looks like she is wearing Captain America's outfit. So, confused.]
Using her claws, the weapons were demolished in no time. [So, fewer bullets coming my way. YAY!]
{Rhino is jumping towards you, turn right then run all out and build up all the momentum you can. We will serve him up to you.}
Turning her attention to the team, M'gann tells Wonder Girl. {When Rhino lands I need you to distract him for a few seconds so I can toss him in front of the charging Rino using my telekinesis.}
When Gar turned from under the jumping Rino, the supervillain stumbled a little, not meeting the expected resistance.
Regaining his balance, he was surprised to see a young girl standing in front of him with her right arm cranked back as if waiting to deliver a punch.
Laughing at her, Rhino begins to say, "Take your bes..." and that is all he can say with her arm elbow deep in his stomach and no breath left in his body.
Seeing the direction the green Rhino is running, she then grabs the villain in front of her by the leg, then quickly spins her body 3 times and lets the gray figure go in perfect line to land about 15 feet in front of the charging green Rhino.
Not wanting to be outdone Miss Martian grabbed Mammoth and threw him in the path the Rhino will fly after impact with the green Rhino which just happens to line up perfectly with another truck.
Once Gar felt the impact, he looked up and saw Rhino collect Mammoth and then they crashed into another truck, resulting in a fiery explosion that hopefully puts them down for a while.
Suddenly, Gar's legs give out on him, and he is left breathing heavily and feeling very tired and hungry.
Addressing M'gann with his mind he asked {Did you remember to bring clothes for me? I hope so because I really don't want to get marked by three beautiful girls as a pervert, but I won't be able to hold this form for much longer.}
At Miss Martian's request, Kid Flash pulled out the shorts he brought and hung them on the horn of the green Rhino as it stumbled tiredly behind a truck.
Walking out from behind the truck moments later is a very tired-looking teenage Garfield Logan in shorts.
He told them, "Thank you for the help, I don't know how much longer I could have held them off. We should probably get out of here but first I need some restraints for myself."
"Also, I believe I have a tracker somewhere on me that can stay with me even when shifting shapes."
Miss Martian responded after some thought, "So long as you don't close your mind off from me, the restraints are unnecessary and as far as the tracker, Bio-ship will block any signals until we are able to find a more permanent solution."
Calling Bio-ship over to pick them up, Gar is happy to have this adventure over but hopes this new one worked out as well or better.
In a slightly embarrassed voice Gar asked M'gann if there was any food available because he hadn't had any sustenance since leaving the pod he woke up in.
Kid Flash offered him one of his special power bars packed with more calories than most people eat in a full day, it just has no taste.
After eating, Gar just moved to a corner of the ship and went to sleep, too tired to care that he was curled up on the floor in the presence of people he had never seen before.
Unknown to Gar, Morph came out and kept an eye on these new people ready to wake Gar if needed.
M'gann keeps part of her mind focused enough to hear if the Teen Gar has any strong thoughts, and calls Vision and Robin.
Surprisingly both picked up, she thought it would just be Vision. Quickly she reported the mission as complete and gave the details.
"Despite a couple of small issues M'gann, I think it was a mission well done." Robin offered his thoughts.
Miss Martian disagreed with him, "My lack of knowledge about significant powers my team held made this a barely passing grade in my book. I still have issues thinking things through in a tight situation Robin. I just believe it's too early to run my own team."
"Setting that aside for now, what do I do with my passenger? He requested I have Uncle J'onn meet him as it has to do with his identity, and I can't make sense of what I feel from him mentally."
"Physically he looks just like I imagine a teenage Garfield Logan will look, but his actions and mannerisms are of someone much older."
"It was subconscious I think, but no action other than offering himself to be restrained and volunteering information about the tracker would have made the team more accepting of him. I also get the feeling that he knows me and Kid Flash."
"Even now he is asleep on the floor, and he just happened to pick a place where everyone has clear sight of him while he is at his most vulnerable."
Abruptly on Robin's screen, a figure appeared, wearing a dark red cowl with horn-like protrusions and white eyes covering the upper half of a sun-tanned face, "Come to the Watchtower, dock 3 I will contact Manhunter and tell him what we know so far."
"Remember Miss Martian, no one who tries so hard to look humble and harmless is ever what they appear to be." With those parting words the costumed man shut off the transmission.
