TDI. Chapter 16: No Pain, No Game

(Plane)

We see Chris in his copilot seat with Chef beside him, although for some reason the camera is filming them from behind, to the extent that the host has to turn around to see the camera. "Last time on Total Drama Island..." the emblems of the two teams are shown clashing into each other and turning to dust. Then, the campers are shown divided by gender. "We reached nearly the halfway point of the competition with only 12 campers left, so, seizing the opportunity, I decided that it was enough of the teams and time for a classic battle of boys vs. girls."

The camera now shows Katie and DJ falling, Naruto and Eva fighting Fang underwater, and Heather and Duncan fighting in the air. "The competition is heating up to fiery levels. While some are helping or cooperating to survive, others are simply throwing safety overboard."

The video shows Harold with a dreamy look after crashing and then Lindsay's incredible maneuvers. "We can't forget the surprises either. Damn, Lindsay sure has skills when she tries, and Harold ended up seeing many stars" the host laughs, only to be interrupted.

"Hey! You make it sound like I went there to fail" complains Harold's voice from behind the camera while the image now shows a visibly annoyed Chris, likely the one filming the host.

"Don't interrupt me, dude. The viewers love a great recap" the host retorts, prompting Geoff to ask.

"Why do you have to do this every episode, man?" The nerd turns to show the partier trying to complete a word search.

Chef snorts before answering, "He loves to hear himself talk."

Chris can't help but protest "I do not. Sometimes the episodes air in random order, so a recap of what happened before is essential."

Duncan just crosses his arms at this, "Just finish your damn intro, dude. I don't want to hear you mock us all the time."

"... Fine," Chris reluctantly agrees, and the camera switches to Geoff and Owen crossing the finish line, frozen. "In the end, Geoff and Owen secured the victory for the dudes, earning a trip to a luxury hotel, while the girls had to learn to deal with each other. The competition will take a different turn from now on" the view changes to Chris, "What awaits our campers? Find out right here on TOTAL... DRAMA... ISLAND!"

DJ suddenly remembers something, "Wait a minute, if Chef came with us, what have the girls been eating these days?" This undoubtedly makes all the guys, except Owen who is still unconscious, turn to the host who gulps, having completely forgotten that the girls also needed food.

Chef rolls his eyes at this, "I left food in the fridge before leaving and several notes. They won't starve." He had anticipated that his idiotic boss would forget to leave food.

(Opening, if you are curious, see the chapter "Not so Happy Campers - Part 1")

(Beach)

Things have been tense with the girls since they lost the last challenge, if their separation indicates something. Gwen is more out of the beach than in it, drawing in a notebook she brought to deal with stress. Bridgette is maintaining her surfboard on the dock. Katie is eating some chips while sitting on some rocks. Eva is lifting dumbbells on the sand, and Heather and Lindsay are reclining on their respective loungers, reading fashion magazines Lindsay brought to the show. All are trying to do their own thing but without success as every few seconds they check on each other to ensure no one is up to any tricks. Yep, they definitely had a rough weekend.

Their silent battle is interrupted when the previous plane is heard in the skies. It isn't until a couple of minutes later that it lands near the cabins, much to their annoyance.

Seeing this, Heather sighs in frustration, "Ugh, they're finally back" she says, getting up and heading to the place.

Gwen, on her part, tries to get away from the queen bee, "Whatever, at this point anything is better than spending time with you."

(Cabins)

"Let's just get this over with" Duncan comments resignedly while coming down with his luggage.

"Hello, Total Drama Island, a complete horror to see you again" Naruto sighs as he comes down as well.

"Oh man, I would have preferred a few more days at the hotel" Geoff is next, with DJ behind him.

"We did what we could, Geoff. We have to keep going" the Jamaican places a hand on his shoulder, understanding his pain.

"Cheer up, guys. Nothing is better than being on national TV" Chris, for his part, seems the happiest to be back.

"Unless it's to torture us" Harold retorts, undoubtedly preferring to be back at the hotel.

Meanwhile, Owen is kicked out by Chef, luckily waking him up.

"Huh?" The oaf mumbles sleepily as he looks around, and once he does, he stands up relieved, "Wooo, yes, back on land!" he celebrates, going back to the plane for his things, but Chef gets ahead and throws everything to him. Instead of being upset, he seems happy, "Thanks for the help, Chef" the big guy thanks before the girls arrive.

"Wow, you're finally back. Now I can return to my normal dose of suffering" Heather complains as she sees everyone arrive.

"Oh yeah, and I thought I had finally got rid of you, Dweeb" Naruto doesn't hold back, and before anything else happens, Chris intervenes.

"Alright, you two, save your married couple fights for later" he clarifies just before ducking to dodge some stones thrown at him.

(Repaired Confession)

"Memo to myself: don't annoy those two while being so close to them, unless I have protection" Chris comments, only for his phone to ring.

"Hello?" he answers, only to hear, "Uh huh, yes, wait ... it only happened once... what do the producers want?... fine," the more the conversation progresses, the more defeated the host looks by what the board is telling him, but then he remembers something else, "On another topic, was my request accepted?" he asks, soon acquiring a smile. This is going to be good.

(Cabins)

"Alright, campers, gather around. I have some announcements to make," Chris calls everyone's attention.

"Now what?" Eva asks with her arms crossed.

"Dude, at least let us unpack" Geoff protests with his suitcases, though he couldn't help but wave at Bridgette upon seeing her, a gesture the surfer girl returns.

"Nah, this is actually the best time to make the announcement" the host replies, then walks in front of the group, "First of all, I want to congratulate you all for making it almost halfway through. You guys are tough nuts to crack" Chris, for once, praises someone.

"Is he praising us?" Gwen asks Katie with a raised eyebrow.

"He would never do it unless something bad is coming after," the taller of the BFFFL replies, looking at Chris suspiciously.

Back with the host, he continues with his announcement. "That's why things are going to get more intense" he says with his typical smile, shortly before a helicopter is heard in the distance and sounds come from the forest.

"Chris, what do you have planned?" DJ asks.

"After discussing it with the board and selecting at random, say hello again to Izzy and Leshawna!" the host finishes his first announcement, causing the remaining campers to gasp upon seeing the crazy girl and the bold girl reappear when they come into view.

"AAAAAAHHHHH!" Izzy screams like Tarzan while swinging on several vines.

"Hey guys, Leshawna's back!" the bold girl greets the others as the helicopter descends.

(Repaired Confession)

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!" Heather rants while kicking a wall of the confession cab.

(Cabin)

"Oh come on, dude, that's not fair," DJ is the first to complain.

"What happened to those who are eliminated can't return to the show?" Bridgette places her hands on her hips, quite upset.

"Did I ever say - EEEEEEP!" the host was about to respond rhetorically, but a stone thrown dangerously close to his nuts by Eva left him squealing in a rather unmasculine way with a pale face.

"Okay, okay, I lied, it's also a legal loophole in yout contracts" the host responds sincerely.

"Are we going to see this again?" Harold asks, only for the host to shake his head negatively.

"Nope, this would be the only time," he replies.

(Repaired Confession)

"He's lying" Naruto responds with a twitching eye. He doesn't know when it will happen, but he's sure more people will come back at some point in the future.

(Cabins)

"Whassup sweetheart, come here and give me some sugar" Leshawna, now on land, hugs Gwen, who gladly returns the gesture. It's good to see her friend again.

"Hey Leshawna, it's been a while" Naruto greets her, only for the girl to pull him into the now three-person hug.

"Don't be all shy with me, boy, I don't bite" the sassy girl undoubtedly enjoys seeing her little group of friends she made on the island. But all that happiness fades when she sets her eyes on Heather, both giving each other such intense looks that some had to step back. Well, it didn't affect someone specifically.

"Wow, it's nice to be back, guys. It's good to see the sun again. When I was hiding from the army, it was all dark" Izzy, in her antics, ended up climbing on Owen's shoulders to be as close to the sun as possible.

"Hey Izzy" Katie greets, standing just behind Eva, undoubtedly not wanting to get caught in the orange-haired girl's antics again.

But Chris just sounded his air horn to get everyone's attention. "If you'll allow me to continue" he begins, then continues with his announcements. "Because there are 14 campers left and we only have 25 days of the show left, we're going to reduce the rest time between challenges, so it will be challenge day, rest day, challenge day, and so on until we finish" he announces, only for the campers to sigh in frustration.

"Oh, biscuits" Owen comments, worried.

"Moving on" Chris goes on now with his usual smile back, "Officially there will no longer be teams until the end of the show, so it's every guy and every girl for themselves" he announces, causing the campers to look at each other, some quite happy and others worried.

"Finally" Chris continues before they can comment, "We're going to change how you've been sleeping so far. The girls will stay in the Gophers' cabin, and the guys will stay in the Bass' cabin, so move, campers, move" the host orders.

(Boys' Cabin)

"How do you think things will be now that Leshawna and Izzy are back?" Katie asks while she, Eva, and Bridgette pick up their respective luggage.

"A complete chaos, it's too obvious there will be fights between Leshawna and Heather," Eva comments resignedly.

"Oh come on, girls, let's not be that stereotype where the guys get along great while we girls fight like cats" Bridgette complains while opening the door for the three to leave, although to the surfer girl's surprise, Geoff was on the other side about to knock on said door.

"Uh... hi, Bridge" the party guy greets, not having expected that.

"Um... hi, Geoff" Bridgette responds, diverting her gaze a little embarrassed, still remembering their last conversation. Katie, for her part, just takes Eva by the arm and guides her outside to give those two a moment of privacy, a gesture that the pair of blondes appreciate.

"Well..." Geoff tries to find the words while scratching his neck. Bridgette composes herself with a deep breath, and once she does, they start talking.

"It was nice workin - / What a nice sur -" the party boy and the surfer girl respectively start but stop upon realizing they were speaking simultaneously.

"You first" Geoff offers.

"Thanks" Bridgette finally feels confident to talk to him. "It was fun being on the same team with you, Geoff. Don't think this changes anything" the girl gives her point of view.

"I guess you're right" the party guy sighs. "I just want to say thanks for being patient with me despite being a bit insistent at first, Bridge, and whatever happens, you're a great friend" he admits happily, momentarily taking off his hat to show the plush toy he bought at the hotel, which he takes and extends. "Here, I want you to have it" he offers, only for the girl to use her free hand to take it and look at it. She genuinely finds it very cute.

"I..." the girl begins, but the party boy interrupts.

"This has nothing to do with Lindsay" Geoff states. "I just wanted to give it to you, don't see it as anything more than that" the boy continues, turning his head slightly nervously. However, he is surprised when he feels something on his cheek, and upon closer inspection, he notices that Bridgette leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek before pulling away.

"Thanks, Geoff" the girl thanks with a sweet smile that leaves the boy frozen, as in his opinion, she looks very beautiful that way.

But before anything else can happen, Chris appears out of nowhere, grabbing Bridgette's arm, totally ruining the moment. "We have a big day ahead" the host mentions before pulling her out of the cabin, leaving Geoff processing what just happened. When he does, he can't help but sigh again.

"I'll miss you" the party guy admits with a slightly sad face, but that doesn't last long as Owen accidentally hits Geoff with his luggage while passing by.

"Hey guys, how are we going to organize?" the oaf asks, only to notice Geoff lying on the floor. "Oops, my bad."

(Girls' Cabin)

Bridgette finally reached her new cabin, and upon opening the door, she was greeted with a scene that made her start contemplating returning to her previous cabin. On one side, Eva was holding Heather, and Katie and Gwen were holding Leshawna, who seemed ready to kill each other.

"What's the matter, darling? Not happy to see little Leshawna again?!" the sassy girl asked sarcastically.

"Little? Oh, honey, you've been living in a dream world your whole life. I wonder how long you'll last with all the movement in everything you do!" the queen bee immediately retorted mockingly, and this definitely added fuel to the fire.

"Now you're asking for it, you flat-chested bitch!" Leshawna roared, making all the girls gasp in shock.

"To all the folks at home, if you have minors watching with you or are sensitive to extreme violence, it's better to change the channel because things are about to get ugly" Izzy warned, looking directly at the camera while discreetly heading towards the door.

"I HAVE A PERFECT SIZE, UNLIKE YOU, YOU PLASTIC WHORE!" Yep, things definitely went to hell as soon as all the girls were under the same roof.

(Repaired Confession)

We see a Lindsay with disheveled hair and a few scratches on her face. "Okay, we may not have started on the right foot, but things will definitely get better among us, I don't think the guys will have it any easier" the bombshell comments with a confident smile.

(Boys' Cabin)

Various laughs and music could be heard coming from the cabin. Inside, all the boys were having a mini-party, listening to music from a mini radio DJ had bought at the hotel.

DJ and Harold were bobbing their heads to the rhythm of the song, Duncan and Naruto were entertaining themselves by throwing darts at a target, also obtained at the hotel, while Owen and Geoff were drinking soda in a friendly manner. The oaf burped, eliciting more laughter from the others, but the party boy, settling in, let out such a powerful burp that it knocked down the cabin door and even some trees outside, and stripped some unfortunate squirrels of their fur.

Back with the boys, the other five were incredulous, their hair blown back in the opposite direction of Geoff, but far from being angry, they looked at the party guy as a deity.

"Guys, I think he earned the title of captain," Naruto commented, after which they placed Geoff on top of a box like a pedestal.

"I owe it all to my big bro back home, for showing me to take in air and release it with power," the party boy admitted, making the others applaud in complete respect.

But it seems Chris has something to say if his voice over the speakers is any indication. "Alright, campers, I hope you've had enough time to unpack. I need you to come to the Wawanakwa Theater. It's challenge time!" he announces cheerfully, much to everyone's annoyance.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

"Do I want to know what happened?" Naruto asks Gwen, who, despite being fixed up, has a few scratches on her face, a condition shared by all the girls.

"No, you don't" the goth girl replies as they go to sit in a series of desks arranged in three tiers. Izzy, Lindsay, Eva, and Katie are in the bottom row, Gwen, Leshawna, Heather, Bridgette, and Harold in the middle row, and Naruto, DJ, Duncan, Owen, and Geoff in the top row. With everyone in their places, Chris proceeds to explain what he has planned this time.

"Welcome to your next challenge, the time honored game of torture, Say Uncle!" he announces quite happily. "You are all about to be put through tests of endurance so insane that some have sent our interns to the emergency room" this definitely left the campers incredulous.

(Repaired Confession)

"I don't know if anyone has said this before, but how the heck is this legal?" Katie asks incredulously.

*Static*

"You'd be surprised how many things are legally permitted as long as you find the right wording and justifications" Chris responds cheerfully while showing the camera the contract the tallest of the BFFFL signed.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

Chris continues with his explanation. "If you refuse to do the challenge or don't last the required ten seconds to complete them, you're out. There's also the option to double the challenge time if you want. If you last twenty seconds, you earn the right to know the next challenge and choose who will take it, although it will only be for ten seconds" this definitely made some already think about who they would make suffer if they achieved that.

"Just keep in mind that if you don't last the twenty seconds despite being able to meet the normal ten, or if your victim meets the time, you're out" Chris warns to make everyone reconsider. "The challenge winner not only gets immunity tonight but also wins this luxurious trailer to take home at the end of the summer" the host points to a very high-quality trailer in the distance.

"What kind of tortures?" Leshawna asks with her hands on her hips.

"Why don't you ask my lovely assistant?" Chris points to Chef, who is wearing a hockey mask and has his arms crossed in such a way that he shows he holds a butcher knife in each hand, to the campers' tension.

"Alright, Duncan, you're up first" the host indicates for the delinquent to walk to a wheel with multiple images next to Chris. "Let's spin the Wheel of Misfortune to select your torture. But first, normal time or double time?" the host asks.

"Are you serious, dude?" Duncan asks with a flat look, which Chris responds to with his usual smile. "Fine, normal time" the punk indicates, and the host spins the wheel. After a moment, the wheel stops on the image of a turtle.

"Turtle?" he asks, confused but somewhat relieved. He should have asked for double time.

"Turtle puck shots" Chris corrects, dragging the punk to a hockey goal. "Our interns spent weeks collecting the grumpiest, angriest, crustiest, and hungriest old snapping turtles on the island while you will be in this goal completely unprotected while Chef shoots the turtles" the host finishes explaining while Chef, still with his hockey mask, is prepared to shoot the turtles that definitely look aggressive.

Duncan couldn't help but widen his eyes at what he saw, and Chris's next words didn't help. "If I were you dude, I'd protect my coconuts. This could get ugly" this definitely made the punk obey and cover himself. Shortly after, the ten seconds began, and Duncan had to duck quickly to avoid being hit in the head by a turtle. However, he made a mistake by turning around, as a second one bit his left shoulder, and wow, the bite hurt since he screamed in pain as soon as he felt it. This left him open for Chef to shoot the last four turtles he had left, with the next one biting his head, another his right tricep, another his chest, and the last one directly in his jewels. This made the rest of the guys cringe, feeling phantom pains, and Duncan definitely had his highest-pitched voice while falling to the ground in pain, just before hearing a ding.

"And Duncan moves on to the next round" Chris announces without looking perturbed at all. "Isn't it fun?" he asks quite happily.

"Yeah, it's a riot" Duncan responds sarcastically, regaining some of his voice.

"Alright, our next victim is Katie" the host announced, eliciting a very worried 'EEP!' from the girl.

"Normal time" Katie announced immediately, not wanting to risk too much by not knowing how many twisted challenges were coming up.

"You said it," the host commented, spinning the wheel, and it didn't take long for it to stop on the image of a spider.

(Repaired Confession)

"This is the most brutal thing I've ever done in my life" Katie admitted in a fetal position with a traumatized face.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

Katie now had a terrified look on her face while inside a transparent plastic box without a lid, as Chris and Chef each held buckets of spiders.

"Alright Katie, here's what's going to happen: ten seconds inside this box while these spiders are on your body," the host announced cheerfully while lifting his bucket. "Ready?" he asked, but didn't give her time to respond as he poured his bucket from the waist up while Chef poured his from the waist down, causing several other campers to shudder at the sight.

"I don't envy her" DJ commented, and everyone agreed.

As for the girl in the challenge, things weren't pretty. The spiders quickly moved around to make space, soon reaching her face. The shock was so great she didn't close her eyes and breathed rapidly to try and control herself. It wasn't until she heard the ding that she bolted out of the box, running and screaming at the top of her lungs while shaking off the arachnids.

"And Katie stays in the game" Chris commented as if nothing had happened before turning back to the wheel. "Alright, Lindsay, it's your turn," the host said, causing the girl to tense up. She was about to ask for normal time when Heather approached to whisper something in her ear. The bombshell only looked at her 'friend' with a worried look asking if she was sure, and upon seeing her nod, Lindsay took a deep breath to gather the courage to say the following.

"Double time" the bombshell requested, surprising the others.

"Whoa ho ho, this is going to be good" Chris cheered before spinning the wheel of misfortune, this time landing on the image of a flaming marshmallow. "Your torture is marshmallow waxing" the host explained as Chef placed a whole bag of marshmallows into a cauldron next to a metal tilting table.

"We're going to wax your face with a marshmallow mask. Endure the twenty secon—" Chris couldn't finish his explanation because Lindsay interrupted.

"I'm reaaaady" the bombshell said, somehow teleporting to the table with a more cheerful than worried look.

"How did you...?" the host looked at her, then at the place she had been, completely surprised. He shook his head and indicated to Chef to start.

"I need this. I've been dealing with nasty razor stubble for weeks. Try not to wax off my tan" Lindsay commented to Chef as if she were at a spa, though the ex-military man couldn't care less and just applied the wax, making a muffled scream that generated many tense and scared faces from the others, specifically the guys who covered their eyes. However, this was only during the first eight seconds. After that, Lindsay managed to calm down and endured the rest of the torture in silence until the ding was heard. Chef then removed the mask.

"Yieauch!" Lindsay screamed when it was removed and couldn't help but touch her face. When she did, she gasped, surprised and relieved by what she felt. "Oh my gosh, it's super smooth. Thanks, Chip," the blonde thanked, having had a great facial treatment without any damage.

"It's Chris..." the host corrected incredulously, not expecting the girl to treat this as a spa treatment.

"How did she...?" Naruto tried to make sense of what he saw, and Gwen, sitting below, just snorted with a playful smile at seeing her friend try to figure it out.

"The reason is simple" the goth girl called his attention immediately. "You guys are complete wimps when it comes to two things: pain and beauty" she explained, lifting two fingers to emphasize her point.

"You said it, sister" Leshawna agreed, and the rest of the girls also agreed as if their fight before the challenge hadn't happened.

"Well..." Chris regained his composure. "Since you managed to endure twenty seconds without any problems, you earned the right to choose your victim after knowing the torture," the host announced cheerfully as he spun the wheel, which quickly stopped on the image of a tub. "Awesome, leech jacuzzi" Chris commented.

(Repaired Confession)

"Okay, we're leveling up, and I don't like it, NOT AT ALL" DJ swallowed a bit at seeing what was happening.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

"Who will be the victim?" the host asked Lindsay, who looked at Heather, who gave her a look that screamed 'do it.' Lindsay sighed and then responded.

"It'll be Lishana" the blonde announced, surprising a great majority.

"Ooh, tough luck, girl," Heather 'worried' for the sassy girl, but Leshawna gave her an ugly look, knowing well the queen bee's game.

"Ten seconds? Let's get this over with" Leshawna walked annoyed as she saw the interns bring the mentioned jacuzzi, and the girl couldn't help but shudder upon seeing it.

"Just ten seconds in the tub and get out once you hear the ding" Chris informed, and the sassy girl took a deep breath and got in. The effect was immediate, with several leeches attaching to her, sucking as much blood as they could. She moved as much as possible to shake them off but with no success, and as soon as she heard the ding, she shot out, removing the leeches as best she could.

"And Leshawna stays in the competition" Chris announced to Heather's displeasure. "Tough luck for you, Lindsay" the host laughed a bit before pulling a button out of nowhere and pressing it, causing the floor beneath the blonde to open and lift her a few seconds later in a medieval stock.

(Repaired Confession)

"It's official, that little skinny white girl is gonna pay" Leshawna crossed her arms with some leech marks on her skin.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

"Owen, you're next" Chris commented while the oaf gulped.

"Normal time" Owen announced immediately.

"Good" the host said, spinning the wheel, which soon landed on the image of a soup. "I was hoping for that one" Chris admitted with a small laugh while Chef served a jumbo bowl of red broth that didn't look appetizing, confirmed when a passing fly died from burning.

"Whoa" Harold's eyes widened as much as possible at that sight.

"Alright Owen, the rules are simple, drink the entire broth..." the host started, but the big guy just grabbed the bowl, opened his mouth, and immediately downed the entire content.

"Done" Owen said confidently, but immediately his face turned red, and he opened his mouth as a horrible burning sensation took over his entire body, almost seeming to spit fire. "SPICYYYYY!" he roared, looking around frantically before spotting Chef with a glass of milk. However, Chris intercepted.

"Yeah, that's what happens when you interrupt me. Just endure 10 seconds without passing out from the heat and without drinking anything, and you're safe. Starting... now." With that, the host watched with amusement as Owen ran in circles, completely inflamed, only taking six seconds to collapse on the ground, crawling toward the glass of milk. Just as he reached out to touch it, the ding sounded, like a heavenly chant to him.

"Oh, blessed doughnut gods, thank you!" the oaf rejoiced before grabbing the glass, which indeed soothed his burning sensation.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Meanwhile, Chris and Chef were thoroughly enjoying the challenge so far. After they composed themselves, Chris let Owen rest while he continued.

"Oh man, I need to do challenges like this more often" Chris wiped a tear before selecting the next victim. "Hey Eva, how much do you think you can handle?" the host asked confidently.

"Just spin the damn wheel, and it'll be double time," the athletic girl wanted to get this over with.

"You said it, girl" Chris commented, spinning the wheel. A minute later, whether by bad luck or a cruel joke by fate, the wheel stopped on the image of a box with a cloud inside.

"Ooh, that's some real bad luck" Chef commented, taking off his hockey mask for a moment to check if he saw right.

"Green chamber" Chris announced the torture as the ex-military man brought a person-sized wooden box, connecting one end of a tube to it and the other end to a vacuum cleaner that he turned on, placing the extractor part on Owen's rear. It should be mentioned that several eyes widened at realizing what the torture entailed, and Eva turned a bit pale upon seeing how Owen's stomach growled after his broth.

(Repaired Confession)

"Oh come on, that wheel has to be rigged!" the athletic girl tried to figure out how she had such bad luck.

*Static*

"It's not rigged, but this will be awesome" Chris responded cheerfully.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

"Just stay inside for twenty seconds and move on to the next round," Chris smiled at Eva, who had a twitching eye from her current situation. Without further ado, the host closed the door and turned to Owen. "Alright Owen, the moment you release the first one, the timer starts" the host instructed.

"Hey Eva, aren't you going to go ...?" but the oaf couldn't finish his question.

"Just do it already, Owen" the athletic girl ordered from inside the box.

"Ma'am, yes ma'am!" Owen obeyed, releasing the first fart, and the effect was immediate as coughing sounds echoed from within. The oaf released more, and the box began to shake.

"Oh my ... damn it, Owen!" Eva growled from inside the box, which started shaking more and more.

"Brutal ..." was all Geoff could say, eyes wide open, with Bridgette below him nodding with a disgusted look.

"Twenty bucks say that she'll pick him for the next challenge" Naruto whispered to Gwen and Leshawna, making the goth girl and the sassy girl laugh a bit.

"Switch bets and we have a deal" Gwen's proposal made the Japanese boy grimace and Leshawna shake her head in amusement. Only a fool would bet that Eva wouldn't do anything.

Back to the athletic girl, it seemed she was starting to lose consciousness if the now-few movements were any indication. Still, it didn't take long to hear the ding, and more than opening, the door flew off along with a large green cloud. A few seconds later, Eva could be seen with slightly red eyes, trying to breathe as much fresh air as possible.

"Well done, Eva, you move on to the next round. Now let's spin the wheel and..." but the host couldn't finish.

"I don't care what the torture is, I choose Owen" the athletic girl stated, leaving no room for objections.

"Understood, ma'am" Chris didn't want to put her in a worse mood, so he just spun the wheel of misfortune, which after a few seconds stopped on the image of a bear.

(Repaired Confession)

"Karma sure is beautiful" a now more satisfied Eva showed a slight smile about the torture Owen had to endure.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

"Hi guys" Owen greeted nervously the three bears they had fought in the forest coliseum. The sumo bear looked particularly eager to settle scores.

"Survive ten seconds in the ring while trying to fend off Tex, Ren, and Rex," Chris instructed with expectant eyes on the circular wrestling ring.

"Who?" Lindsay asked, confused.

"Tex is the boxing bear, Ren is the sumo, and Rex is the one with the wrestling mask" Eva responded immediately.

"Ooooohhh" was all the bombshell could respond.

Back to Chris, it seemed he was ready to start. "When you hear the bell, it all begins." With that, the bears got into position while Owen swallowed nervously. The moment he heard the bell, the big guy received a huge push from Ren, causing him to lose balance. Rex took the opportunity to knock him down completely, grabbing his legs to spin on his axis. With enough force, he released the oaf, who couldn't exit the ring due to the ropes and instead was launched to the center where Tex was waiting, spinning his arm with full power to deliver a devastating uppercut. Not only did it knock Owen out, but it also sent him flying out of the ring, all in just eight seconds.

While the campers felt some pity for the oaf, Eva, Chris, and Chef were entertained by what they saw, especially the latter two, who were having a good laugh.

"Oh man, that was good" Chris recovered, turning to the athletic girl. "Alright Eva, you continue in the competition" he announced before turning to the camera. "Who will have worse luck than Owen and be the next eliminated? There's only one way to find out, although..." Chris struck a thoughtful pose before looking at Chef.

"Hey Chef, don't you think we're going a bit slow for the audience's standards?" the host asked, only for the ex-military man to roll his eyes.

"How would I know? Just do a montage or something" he said sarcastically, though the host seemed to like the idea.

"Seriously?" Duncan had an expressionless face.

"Relax, dude, at least they won't show everything we're going to go through in this challenge" DJ dismissed any possible complaints.

Back to Chris, he was already halfway through a conversation with the producers. "Uh-huh, got it" he finished before hanging up. "Alright, let's move on, campers. Let's see how much you can handle from the wheel of misfortune" the host announced as a musical number started.

(Montage: Misfortune - Base song: "Phineas and Ferb - Carl the Intern")

~Misfortune! For everyone~

The scene shows Gwen, green-faced with traces of ice cream on her lips, desperately trying to hold back the urge to puke as Rex spins her around by her ankles at full speed.

The image then shifts to Geoff, wearing a sausage necklace and a jerky vest, running away from the trio of bears. Unfortunately, they caught up to him after just six seconds.

~Misfortune! Painful and cruel~

Now we see Harold standing barefoot on a pile of hot coals, enduring the burning as long as possible. Sadly, he only lasted nine seconds out of the ten needed.

Meanwhile, Heather was trying not to freeze inside a box covered with ice. The ding finally sounded, and she emerged paler than usual with mild frostbite, indicating just how cold it was. Shakily, she pointed at Katie, signifying she had lasted 20 seconds inside.

~Misfortune! A doctor is needed~

Katie ended up kicking away a raccoon that was supposed to attack her for ten seconds, managing only to endure seven.

Naruto, with his goggles on, was battling Fang in a water tank just big enough for the two of them, clearly showing their mutual disdain.

~Misfortune! It's about enduring or falling~

DJ was riding a moose doing everything possible to buck him off, crashing him into the stage repeatedly. He managed to stay on until he heard the ding.

Izzy, on the other hand, remained calm despite being chained to a chair, avoiding being shot by Chef with a paintball gun. How she managed to last twenty seconds is a mystery.

~They are mini challenges

Short but really painful~

Bridgette, exhausted from the multiple challenges, was struggling to hold onto a bar stuck to the ground while withstanding the force of a powerful industrial fan. Chris and Chef made it harder by throwing balls into the stream to knock her off. Unfortunately, she only managed to hold on for nine seconds.

A tired Duncan was completing an arcade dance game, copying all the moves perfectly, but a small slip at the seventh second made him lose balance and fail the test. As he regained his balance, a boxing glove shot out from the center panel, hitting him squarely in the groin, eliciting sympathetic winces from the other male contestants.

~You don't know what's coming next,

Because your fate is chosen at random~

Leshawna was catching all the plates while balancing on a thin log to avoid falling into a pool of crabs ready to pinch her. Surprisingly, she managed to complete the ten seconds.

Eva, wearing a shirt covered in honey, soon found it turning into a shirt of bees. She endured twenty seconds and smiled, eager to see the next torture.

~Misfortune! It's constant~

Heather was tense and horrified as the psycho Chef approached her precious hair with a chainsaw. Without hesitation, she bolted before he could even start the tool.

Gwen had a traumatized look, listening through headphones. She couldn't last even six seconds before tearing them off and smashing them on the ground repeatedly, to the incredulous stares of everyone. Chris, unfazed, brought out new headphones, listened for a few seconds, and immediately deleted the playlist with a disturbed expression, clearly having never heard it before. The campers exchanged looks, wondering what on earth the goth girl had heard. Gwen, now with Duncan's lighter and some oil, set the headphone pieces on fire.

~Misfortune!~

Naruto entered a box where the contents were unseen. Four seconds later, he burst through the door with a black eye, much to Heather's laughter.

(End of Montage - Wawanakwa Theater)

"Alright, clear!" Chris announced as Chef used electric eels on Izzy, who instead of complaining, laughed until she heard the ding after twenty seconds.

"That was great, hit me again!" she requested, and with a shrug, Chef obliged, giving her another shock that made her hair stand on end.

"Well done, Izzy, you endured double time. Again, this time, the torture is a poison ivy spa treatment. Who will be the victim?" Chris gestured to DJ, Eva, and Leshawna, the remaining contestants. Everyone else was in medieval stocks.

"Oh, awesome, I want to take the treatment," Izzy announced, to everyone's incredulity, even making Chris's phone ring.

"Hello?" the host answered. "Uh-huh... yeah... the girl is serious about this, trust me, I'm not kidding... okay." Chris looked at the orange-haired girl. "The judges will allow it, but they want to know why" he asked the question on everyone's mind.

"I just want to know how it feels" she admitted, prompting flat looks from everyone.

"Good enough for me" Chris hung up and let Chef proceed. "But unfortunately, you eliminated yourself," he announced, turning back to the wheel.

"But look how thick my lips are," the girl, now with a red face and several rashes, proudly showed off her swollen lips.

"Whatever. DJ, it's your turn" Chris announced.

"Normal time," the Jamaican immediately requested, likely thinking Eva and Leshawna could endure whatever he picked if he did double time.

"Alright" the host spun the wheel, which landed on the image of a snake. DJ surprised everyone with an unmanly scream.

"Dude, what the heck?" Harold asked for everyone.

"I'd say it's a fear of snakes" Bridgette commented from her stock.

"Anyway, DJ, this snake will coil around you and..." but the host was interrupted as DJ fainted at the sight of the enormous snake.

"Well, I guess that means he's refusing to participate" Chris noted, turning to the remaining two. "Alright girls, here's the deal. Since I don't want to waste more time, one of you will be chosen at random to complete one last challenge, but this time for half a minute. If you complete it, you win; if not, the victory goes to the other. Capish?"

"Oh, I'm in. That trailer has my name on it" Leshawna affirmed confidently.

"Let's get this over with, Chris" Eva agreed.

"Then let's do it" Chris affirmed, spinning the wheel of misfortune one last time, which landed on the image of a log in the water. "The final torture is the grizzly bear log roll."

"The grizzly bear say what?" Leshawna asked, confused.

(Dock of Shame)

"Ladies, meet Molotov, a Russian national circus performer and national log rolling champion for the past twelve years" Chris introduced the confident-looking bear.

"To win, you must stay on the log for half a minute without falling into the water, which, by the way, is filled with a lot of piranhas" the host finished as the aquatic creatures surfaced.

"We'll flip a coin to see who does the challenge. Heads or tails?" Chris asked, and Eva responded immediately.

"Heads" the athletic girl said, and Chris flipped the coin, letting it land on the dock. It landed on tails.

"Alright, Leshawna, it's your turn. Do you take the risk?" Chris asked. Leshawna stared into the bear's eyes, and the bear returned the gaze. After a few seconds, she made her decision.

"I've seen scarier faces at the mall. Let's do this" she said, stepping onto the log.

"And... now!" With the host's command, Molotov started at full speed, causing Leshawna to lose her balance at first. The first ten seconds were a battle to stay upright, but she gradually found her rhythm. By the twenty-second mark, Leshawna had a determined look and started to take control of the log, surprising the bear. Molotov tried to regain control, but Leshawna didn't let him. Finally, the ding sounded, and she jumped off, causing Molotov to fall and slide into the water. Quickly, she spun the log to prevent the piranhas from biting him, although they worked fast. When Molotov emerged from the water, his fur was gone.

"And Leshawna wins immunity!" Chris announced as the girl celebrated.

"Whoooo hoooo, yeah baby!" Leshawna cheered, she immediately moved Chef aside, who presented the trailer. After that she hugged her prize.

Chris couldn't help but laugh at the sight and then turned to the others. "Must suck to be you guys. Better prepare yourselves because tonight we'll have the first elimination ceremony of this stage of the competition," the host said as the others groaned in frustration.

(Forest)

"So, who are we going to eliminate?" Katie asked as she, Gwen, and Naruto gathered in a secluded spot.

"So many options to consider" Gwen said, thinking of Heather, Eva, Duncan, and even Izzy, who had just returned.

"Don't overthink it, girl. Heather won't do much with her short alliance, especially since Owen has plenty of food after the hotel visit" Leshawna said, arriving with Harold in tow.

"That doesn't stop her from being a threat, Leshawna" Gwen countered, pondering their next move.

"It's great to have you back, Leshawna, and wow, Harold, are you joining us too?" Naruto asked, looking at the pair.

Harold fixed his gaze on the bold girl, who gave him a judgmental look. This made him think quickly. "Yes, I'm in. Heather tried to force me into her alliance, and I want her out," Harold replied truthfully.

"Great, welcome aboard" the Japanese boy said, extending his fist for Harold to bump, which the nerd did with a smile. Naruto hadn't done anything against him during the show, so he bore no grudge.

"Okay, back to the topic. Who are we voting out?" Katie asked, making everyone think.

"Heather is a problem, but she's recovering, we can use this chance to take her out now" Harold suggested.

"True" Naruto agreed. "But since she's recovering, we have a window of time to eliminate more immediate threats who could win challenges at any moment. So I'd vote out Eva or Duncan," this proposal garnered considerable interest.

"Right away?" Leshawna asked for confirmation.

"They didn't win this time, but they might next time" the Japanese boy replied, leading to a lengthy discussion on who to eliminate.

(Wawanakwa Theater)

"Damn it, Owen" Heather muttered, pacing in circles. The oaf couldn't be bribed with food anymore because he had stocked up on food from the hotel, leaving her alone with Lindsay. This was bad. She hadn't anticipated the team split affecting her this much. Even if it had been boys versus girls, it would have been better, but now...

"Calm down, Heather. Take a deep breath and..." Lindsay tried to soothe her 'friend,' placing her hands on Heather's shoulders for a massage, but the queen bee shrugged her off.

"Shut up, Lindsay. I need to think" Heather snapped, making the blonde lower her head like a scolded child. To their surprise, a third voice joined the conversation.

"Wow, you're really grumpy" Izzy commented, suddenly standing a few steps away. The orange-haired girl had been so quiet they hadn't noticed her.

"What do you want?" the queen bee asked sharply.

"Is that how you talk to your new alliance member?" Izzy replied coyly, tensing the two girls.

"What are you...?" Heather began to feign ignorance, but Izzy continued.

"Heather, Heather, Heather, do you really think I did nothing while I was away? I took the time to watch the show and saw that you're in a tight spot. So here's the deal: you help me stay here, and I'll help you with my vote and give you intel on what's happening on the island, like the other alliance that's probably grown in few numbers by now" the crazy girl offered, making the queen bee's eyes widen. The deal was good, but...

"What's the catch?" Heather asked cautiously.

"Just don't betray me, or I'll reveal your alliance, which won't take long to be exposed anyway. So let's get along, deal?" Izzy extended her hand. Heather, after considering everything, had no choice but to accept. She would have to gain enough power to get rid of Izzy later, so she would let the crazy girl think she had control... for now.

(Repaired Confession)

"It's so obvious that she'll betray me at any moment" Izzy commented calmly. "But the strategy of allying with the bad girl without anyone knowing is pretty awesome, especially if I have the option to join the other side if Heather falls and no one finds out about me" she analyzed surprisingly well.

"It's just like my friend Brad the donkey said, 'Ehhhhh guuu nyeeeee!' Ooh, now I want some nachos" forget it, it seems Izzy is still Izzy.

(Elimination Ceremony)

"Hello everyone, welcome to the first elimination ceremony in the individual stage," Chris greeted them. "The rules are slightly different from the previous stage. Due to some concerns from the producers, instead of writing down the name of who you want to eliminate, just say their name or the nickname everyone recognizes," this rule change made more than one eyebrow raise in curiosity, but those aware of Courtney's situation were relieved there wouldn't be a chance to change the votes.

(Repaired Confessional)

"Yes, the producers didn't like what happened last time, so they approved this new voting method," Chris commented, a bit annoyed. He didn't like people meddling in his fun.

(Elimination Ceremony)

"Alright, now that everyone has voted, get ready to hear your name and receive a marshmallow. Whoever doesn't get one will walk the Dock of Shame, take the Boat of Losers, and never come back, ever" Chris's announcement earned several fake coughs calling him out for the bs.

But the host ignored that and continued, "Leshawna, Lindsay, Geoff..." The first caught her marshmallow, the second formed her hands like a basket to catch hers, and the third used his hat.

"DJ, Bridgette, Owen, Gwen..." The Jamaican caught his marshmallow with one hand, the surfer used the same technique as Lindsay, Owen caught his with his mouth, and Gwen let it fall into her lap.

"Katie, Harold, Izzy..." Katie smiled while catching her marshmallow, Harold did the same, and Izzy slid hers down her left arm like a ramp, raising it to catch it in her mouth.

The remaining four looked worried, but Chris continued, "Duncan, Heather, you're also safe," the host announced. They caught their marshmallows, leaving the two athletes looking very concerned. They had forged a good camaraderie through training during their stay, but things turned out this way.

"Naruto, Eva, this is the last marshmallow of the night. The one who receives it is..." the host prepared to announce.

...

...

...

...

...

Naruto looked nervously at the marshmallow, and he wasn't the only one. His alliance was very worried about losing one of their own so soon.

...

...

...

...

...

Eva stared fixedly at the marshmallow. She knew sooner or later she would be pitted against Naruto because of their physical abilities, but she hadn't expected it so soon.

...

...

...

...

...

"Naruto," Chris threw the last marshmallow to the Japanese boy, who sighed in relief, though he couldn't help but give a sad look to his friend, who just stood up.

"Eva..." Naruto started, already standing, but the girl extended her arm with a slight smile while standing up.

"It was a good game, Naruto. Thanks for helping me with some things I had trouble with. Just make sure you don't get taken down too quickly" Eva said with a friendly smile. Losing is part of life, and how you handle that loss determines a person's character and personality.

Naruto shook his head a bit and smiled, then shook her hand. "Without a doubt, a good game. There will be a next time, though I just hope that it's not on this crappy island," he requested, making everyone else laugh, much to Chris's annoyance.

"If you're done" Chris said as Chef carried, or rather dragged, the girl's luggage with him, "Eva, it's time to go." With that, the two athletes finished shaking hands, and the athletic girl took her luggage without problems and headed to the dock. This was all under the slightly sad gaze of her former teammates who actually voted for Naruto, except Katie, who, along with her alliance and unknowingly Heather's alliance, voted for Eva.

"Clearly, a lot has just happened here" Chris commented as the cameras focused on him. "The boys return from their tropical paradise, everyone is on their own, and a couple just returned. What awaits us next time? Find out right here on TOTAL... DRAMA... ISLAND!" Chris finished the episode with the usual zoom out.

"Ugh, do you always sound that cliché?" Gwen's voice was heard, ruining Chris's moment.

"Quiet!" the host snapped back.

End of the chapter.

Until next time.

(Post-credits scene - moments earlier)

Harold was walking back to his cabin, feeling quite tired, when someone grabbed him and led him into a part of the forest. When he turned around, he was surprised to see it was Leshawna who had pulled him aside.

"Alright Harold, I'm sure you're wondering why I brought you here" she said as the nerd nodded. "The reason is simple: I have a proposal and a warning" she stated, which definitely caught the nerd's attention.

"What kind of proposal and warning?" Harold asked.

"First things first, don't even think about changing the votes like you did with Courtney. Got it?" This definitely alarmed Harold.

"I..." Harold started to defend himself, but Leshawna cut him off.

"I can understand why you did it, just don't do it again or you'll be in serious trouble," she warned with a stern look that made Harold gulp and nod.

"Good" Leshawna saw that the boy wouldn't do it again. "The other thing is that I want you to join an alliance I have with others. Do you want to get revenge on Heather and Duncan? This is your chance. Do you accept?" The daring girl proposed, and Harold accepted immediately. He wasn't stupid; this was a great opportunity. However, what neither of them noticed was that two people had followed them: Izzy, who was watching everything from a high tree and decided to leave to negotiate with the other alliance on the island, and someone in the bushes who was undoubtedly surprised by everything they heard. Things were about to get very intense on the island.
