TDI. Chapter 17: Hide, run, be safe
(Dock of Shame)
We see Chris back at the Dock of Shame. "Last time on Total Drama Island …" the host begins, starting the recap with the plane landing on the island. "After a weekend off the island, the winners of the last challenge return for a new round of suffering" the host's voice laughs as he mentions that, while the screen now shifts to the symbols of the boys' and girls' teams colliding on a black background with a lot of flashes before showing Leshawna waving from the helicopter and Izzy swinging from vines. "The teams are officially dissolved, ladies and gentlemen. It's every camper for themselves, and to spice things up, two former losers that were randomly selected are back for more fun."
Now we see Owen receiving a crushing uppercut from Tex, Naruto getting pummeled endlessly by Fang in the water tank, Geoff being hung by his ankles while the bears try to strip the meat clothes out of him, and many more events from the previous challenge. "The campers endured all kinds of abuse in the old torture game, Say Uncle" the image shows Duncan getting a nut shot by the dance arcade game for the host's amusement, "Hahahahahaha, awesome."
We switch to see Leshawna regaining ground against Molotov. "With skilled log balancing, Leshawna dethrones Molotov as the log rolling champion and wins invincibility" the screen shows the sassy girl shoving Chef aside to hug her new trailer.
On one side, Izzy is seen chatting with Heather, while on the other, Harold and Leshawna approach Gwen, Katie, and Naruto. "Tensions are rising, and since everyone is on their own, they're strengthening friendships and making risky deals to stay afloat." In the end, we see Eva walking down the Dock of Shame. "Finally, we had the first victim in the individual stages, the 'lucky' one, Eva. Better luck next time, girl."
We return to Chris, who is quite amazed watching Chef from a distance, completing his old military obstacle course, the one he made the campers do in the boot camp challenge in 33.47 seconds, a very good time. After that, Chef does some stretches and heads for a shower while interns hand him blueprints for something. Whatever it is, it brings a satisfied grin to his face. "Anyway, who will backstab whom? Who will forge the best friendships? Find out, right here on TOTAL … DRAMA … ISLAND!"
(Opening, if you are curious, see the chapter "Not so Happy Campers - Part 1")
(Girls' Cabin)
Heather and Lindsay are sitting on the cabin steps, and the queen bee looks quite dissatisfied with her current situation. "I can't believe Chris brought back Izzy and especially… ugh… Leshawna, as if I didn't have enough problems with the Moron" the queen bee complains.
Lindsay, munching on some barbecue chips, listens quietly. When she sees an opportunity, she swallows to share her point of view. "It might not have been fair for them to return, Heather, but we can vote her off again, together" she tries to encourage her, but all she gets is Heather snatching the bag of chips from her hands, eating some to relieve a bit of stress, though she ends up grimacing after tasting them.
"Barbecue? How can you eat this garbage?" Heather, not caring much for anything else, crushes the bag and tosses it away carelessly, to Lindsay's surprised and saddened look. Someone else didn't appreciate what they saw either.
"If you don't like them, just give them back, Heather. Be grateful the guys brought more supplies from the hotel, don't waste food like that" surprisingly, Katie is the one who scolds the queen bee, accompanied by Leshawna, which obviously doesn't sit well with Heather.
"What I do is none of your business, so why don't you turn around and get lost" the queen bee snaps, clearly annoyed, and Leshawna quickly joins in.
"Don't act like the queen of the prom dance, skinny. The moment I get the chance, you're out of here" the sassy girl warns, clearly driven mad by the queen bee already.
Heather growls, knowing the threat is real. They outnumber her, and the new member of her alliance is a wildcard. She doesn't trust the crazy one at all, so she needs to target the opposing alliance as best as she can.
But before the two can attack each other again, Lindsay steps between them. "Just stop, please! Can't we all get along?" the bombshell pleads, clearly unhappy with the girls' situation since they started living together in the same cabin. Even though Leshawna moved to her trailer, things still got worse.
Katie merely holds her left arm with her right hand and looks away, conflicted. She actually shares Lindsay's view, but sadly, that's not possible.
Heather huffs and turns away. "Whatever, just stay out of my way" the queen bee warns the pair of girls as she walks off, hoping that will calm her down.
Leshawna crosses her arms. "And let ya do whatever ya want? No thank you" she rejects the 'offer,' and once the queen bee disappears from sight, Katie gently places a hand on Lindsay's shoulder.
"I'm sorry things have to be like this, Lindsay, but some things just can't happen, no matter how much we want them to be better" the taller of the BFFF says in an assuring way, she still misses Sadie and Cody.
"Honey, ya shall stay the hell away from Heather. She's nothing but trouble" Leshawna advises, but Lindsay has something to say.
"Please, Lequisca, I know Heather can be a bit rough, but I also know that deep down, she's a great person" the bombshell defends the queen bee, causing the other two girls to exchange concerned glances before continuing to face reality, though Lindsay remains firm in defending Heather.
Watching this interaction from a distance, Izzy munches on some acorns she found somewhere. Gotta give it to Heather; she found herself a pretty loyal ally. Though it might be best to warn her that they're trying to talk sense into Lindsay.
(Confession)
"Heather is my best friend on the island" Lindsay tells the audience. "I mean, sure, she steals my food, my clothes, some of my cosmetics, and gives me nicknames" the bombshell lists off, counting each on her fingers.
"But that's what BFFs do, Best Female Friends, and no matter what everyone says on the island, I know that deep down she feels the same way" Lindsay finishes, quite pleased to be with the queen bee.
*Static*
At this moment, Heather is holding a pair of scissors and Lindsay's hand mirror to trim some bad spots in her now shorter hair, which sits just above her shoulders. She's been doing this since it got burned in the kitchen challenge, trying to make it look as good as possible for the public.
"Who cares about friends?" Well, clearly, the queen bee doesn't share Lindsay's sentiments. "In this world, there are only shepherds and sheep, and Dumbsay is a major sheep" Heather comments shamelessly as she makes the final cut to her hair. While it looks good, the girl's face shows mild discontent.
"Ugh, great. Now I look more like mom," the queen bee grumbles, then looks directly at the camera. "Nothing against you, Mom. I just don't want us getting confused all the time again. It was super annoying when I turned fifteen" she remarks, before her face becomes thoughtful.
"What was I talking about again? Oh yeah, Lindsay" Heather finally recalls.
*Static*
"I think she really respects me and my strategical ideas" Lindsay says cheerfully.
*Static*
"I have flip flops with way more brain than her, but hey, at least her vote is useful. So, I'll keep her on my side until she's no longer useful, or she gets eliminated, whichever comes first" Heather shares her plan, grinning like she hasn't just insulted Lindsay on National TV.
(Forest)
"I can't believe you spent your two free days on a prank war" Gwen massaged her forehead after hearing what half of the guys had done at the hotel.
"Hey, it wasn't part of my plans, but Em-chan was involved in all of it, and I wanted to help her" Naruto defended himself, starting to sweat nervously when the goth girl gave him a confused look that immediately demanded an explanation.
"I didn't tell you about Em-chan, did I?" he asked, and Gwen shook her head. With that, Naruto collected his thoughts before speaking. "Her name is Emma, she's my best friend back in the country. I just call her Em-chan as a nickname" the Japanese boy quickly clarified, which only prompted Gwen to raise an eyebrow in confusion.
"What does 'chan' mean? My brother watches a lot of anime, but I don't get what that word means," Gwen said, calming Naruto, who had successfully dodged a bullet he didn't know that even existed.
"It's an affectionate honorific. It's usually used for young children or cute animals, but we also use it for women or girls who are close friends, family, or couples. In my case with Em-chan, it's for a close friend" Naruto explained, to which Gwen silently mouthed "Ohhh" as she began to understand.
"And if it's for a guy?" Gwen asked, now even more interested.
"Then you use 'kun'" Naruto replied without a problem.
Gwen simply nodded, but something seemed to pop into her head, as her now mischievous smile hinted. "Thanks for the explanation, Naruto-kun" she said sweetly, but was surprised when Naruto turned to her with his eyes wide open and a deep blush on his cheeks.
"G-G-Gwen, what the heck?" even Naruto was shocked when his voice came out slightly squeaky.
"D-Did I do something wrong?" the goth girl asked, trying to calm the situation. She hadn't meant to offend him, but Naruto quickly shook his head to snap out of his shock.
"No, it's not bad. It's just that we don't use honorifics so lightly. We usually use them when we have a lot of trust in the other person, and typically after spending a lot of time getting to know each other" Naruto clarified.
"Are you saying you don't trust me?" Gwen asked, slightly offended, but Naruto shook his head again.
"It's not that. I do trust you; it's just that we find it really hard to show that kind of affection in public, it's kind of frowned upon. My family and I became more open when we moved here, but we still struggle with certain things" the Japanese guy admitted.
"Ooooooh…" was all Gwen could say.
"D-Don't worry about it. You didn't know. Umm … you wanted to hear more about Em-chan, right?" Naruto tried to change the subject to ease the awkwardness, something that an embarrassed Gwen noticed and accepted rapidly, so the two continued chatting about their daily lives before coming to the island.
(Beach)
"Whoooo hoooo!" Geoff cheered as he rode one of the jet skis. Behind him was Bridgette, in her swimsuit and on water skis. Since there were no waves on the island, she decided to water ski to get a similar experience. It wasn't the same, but it was something.
From afar, DJ and Duncan were drinking sodas to wash down the bad taste left from Chef's food, while Bunny was enjoying its time on the beach.
"It's about time those two started hanging out more" Duncan couldn't help but point out as he watched the blonde pair having fun.
"It was bound to happen sooner or later. They just needed better communication" the Jamaican commented back to the punk.
"True" Duncan had to admit as he looked away, deep in thought, something that DJ quickly noticed.
"What's up, man?" the Jamaican asked.
"We need to do something, dude. We're all on our own, and the ones who are by themselves are the easiest targets. As soon as we get the chance, we need to gather the rest of the guys. I want to talk to everyone about something" the punk said seriously, but before DJ could respond, Chris's voice came over the loudspeaker.
"You better get ready, campers, because the next challenge is coming up. Meet me at the Dock of Shame in an hour. McLean out" the loudspeakers then fell silent, leaving the others to follow the instructions. Back on the beach, Duncan turned to DJ.
"I'm going to get Whiskers and Owen. You go for Harold and Geoff. We'll figure out a time and place later" Duncan ordered, and DJ nodded in agreement. When Duncan handled business, he was serious about it.
Meanwhile, Geoff was bringing the jet ski back to the dock and helping Bridgette back onto dry land.
"You were amazing, Bridge" the party guy complimented her.
"Thanks to you for helping me with this, Geoff" Bridgette laughed lightly as she wrung the water from her hair. "Want to do it again tomorrow?" she asked, much to Geoff's delight.
"Of course, babe" Geoff replied, and Bridgette gave him a peck on the cheek before heading off to shower.
(Confession)
"Dude! Things just suddenly went, like, *poof*… and got way better all of a sudden. It feels awesome" Geoff was definitely happy with the recent developments in his life.
*Static*
"I'm glad that Geoff and I finally took a step forward after the bumps in the road. It's refreshing to talk to him without any awkwardness" Bridgette admitted with a smile.
(1 Hour Later - Dock of Shame)
Seeing that everyone had gathered at the dock, Chris began explaining. "Today's challenge is a good, old-fashioned game of hide-and-seek. You all get ten minutes to hide before Chef Hatchet comes looking for you" the host explained, as the cameras now focused on Chef in his military gear.
"With his military background and advanced degree in man hunting, he's uniquely qualified to make this game excruciatingly hard" Chris continued, as the ex-military man pulled out a water gun and began loading it.
"What's with the water gun?" Duncan asked, confused, only to have a red laser pointer aimed at his forehead.
"The lifeguard chair is the home base. When he finds you, Chef will try to spray you" Chris went on to explain as he walked toward the lifeguard chair. "If you escape his blast, you can try to run to home base. But if he catches you on the way, he'll douse you" the host said as he tapped the home base.
Duncan, however, didn't look too scared. "Ooh, so we are gonna get splashed with a bit of water. Now I'm terrified" the punk mocks.
Chris smiled at that. "Why don't you demonstrate, Chef?" the host suggested with a smug smile, and the ex-military man immediately accepted, first loading the water gun and then firing directly at Chris, who didn't expect the high-pressure blast. It sent him flying a considerable distance. "NOT ON ME, DUDE!" the host yelled as several campers burst into laughter, though Naruto blinked, recognizing the mechanism.
"Wait a minute? Isn't that…?" Naruto didn't finish his question when Chris returned.
"Oh, yeah, that. We got a lot of inspiration from watching a video of a high-pressure water gun used at a school, so our engineering interns did what they had to do to recreate it. As you can see, these are the results. We even registered the patent, so this is officially Total Drama Island intellectual property" the host announced, flashing a big shit eating grin directed at Naruto.
(Confession)
Naruto was left speechless after the host casually told him they stole his creation and patented it.
(Dock of Shame)
"So how do we win this game?" Heather asked.
Chris dropped his smile and continued with the explanation. "You've got three options: one, don't get discovered in your hiding place until the challenge ends; two, run to home base before Chef blasts you; and three, once you've been caught, you can help Chef find the other campers. Do any of those and will win invincibility" the host explained, much to the pleasant surprise of many. There were plenty of ways to win here, but Chris went on "Is that clear?"
Lindsay, confused, raised a finger and said, "Ahhhh…" She was about to ask a question, but the host didn't give her a chance.
"You have ten minutes to hide... GO!" At that command, everyone except Lindsay took off running at full speed. The bombshell looked around for help, hoping someone would explain it again, but it didn't happen. Feeling the rising pressure, she just screamed and ran off in a random direction to find a hiding spot.
(Girls' Cabin)
Chris tried his hardest not to laugh at the pathetic hiding spot the bombshell had chosen. She wasn't even fully covered, but he held back his laughter and started to speak. "Umm... Lindsay, you couldn't do any better than hiding under your covers?"
From her hiding spot, the girl responded, "Ha, I tricked you! This isn't even my own bunk."
The host rolled his eyes before turning to the door. "Oh, Chef Hatchet!" he called. The ex-military man opened the door with a menacing look that made the girl fall off the bunk and take off running, screaming at the top of her lungs.
(Dock of Shame)
Leshawna, in her swimsuit, looked around to make sure no one was watching. Once she was sure no one was nearby, she submerged herself in the water with a bamboo straw that had a swamp flower at the top, hoping to stay hidden underwater.
(Communal Bathrooms)
Still screaming, Lindsay ran at full speed into one of the bathroom stalls, closed the door, and stood on the toilet, not noticing that half her head was sticking out above the door.
Chris, on the other hand, entered calmly, it wasn't hard to follow the girl with how loudly she was screaming. As soon as he entered, he saw her and just shook his head. But oh well, he walked over and knocked on the door. "Knock knock" the host called.
"Who's there?" the girl asked, genuinely curious.
"The entire national audience" Chris replied.
"The entire national audience who?" Lindsay asked, now more confused.
"I think you'll have to do a lot better than that if you want to avoid capture" Chris commented bluntly, which made the girl open the door and run off screaming again. Chris sighed and turned to the camera. "If you ask for my opinion, dear audience, she's a goner."
(Forest)
Owen was walking as quietly as possible, nearing a cave when, just before stepping on a branch, two arms yanked him inside the cave. The big guy was about to scream, but Naruto and DJ combined their strength to restrain him and keep him quiet. After calming down, Owen noticed that the rest of the guys were inside.
"Alright guys, he's calmed down, let him go" Duncan ordered, and the Japanese boy and the Jamaican obeyed.
"Hey guys, great hiding spot" the oaf commented as he took a seat on one of the rocks.
"Spill it, Duncan. Why did you want us here?" Harold asked, completely suspicious.
Seeing that they were willing to get to the point, Duncan started to explain. "Listen up, boys. We're in trouble. There are seven chicks on the island and only six dudes" the punk began.
"I know, nice odds" Geoff commented, clearly pleased.
"No butt-brain, bad odds" Duncan snapped back. "In my opinion, chances are that sooner or later, one of them is going to notice it too, and once they do, they are gonna pick us off one by one. We've got to do something" the punk explained.
DJ blinked in confusion. "It's not like they are getting along. Don't you remember what happened this morning?"
(Flashback - Communal Bathrooms)
DJ, Duncan, and Owen were holding in the urge to use the bathroom while the girls did whatever they were doing inside. Why the heck were they taking so long? They have been waiting for an hour and a half now.
Inside the bathroom, Heather, Leshawna, and Lindsay were applying makeup in front of the mirror, while Katie and Gwen were showering in different stalls separated by wooden dividers. Just because she felt like it, Heather turned on one of the hot water taps at the sink, causing a lot of steam to come out of the showers.
"KYYYAAAA, HOT HOT HOT!" Katie immediately ran out of the shower wearing only her towel, and it was clear her skin was slightly red from the heat.
Gwen didn't take much longer to follow, also covered in her towel, but her burns were more noticeable due to her skin tone. "Who the hell turned on the hot water?!" the goth girl demanded.
"Oops, sorry" Heather replied in a mocking tone, just as a toilet flushed in the distance, and Bridgette quickly emerged to wash her hands, not wanting to get caught up in what was about to go down.
And the surfer girl was right, as Leshawna slapped the queen bee's hand, causing her lipstick to smear all over her right cheek to Heather's complete horror. That horror quickly turned into anger, and outside the communal bathroom, the three guys jumped a little at the sound of the commotion.
"Do you know how exclusive that lipstick is?!" Heather's voice could be heard.
"Better that than being boiled alive!" Gwen shouted back.
"Come on, girls, calm down!" Bridgette pleaded.
"Oh, my hair!" Katie complained.
The three boys just exchanged amused looks for a moment before grinning. Nothing beats a good catfight.
Izzy soon arrived and heard the commotion. "Oh sweet, the fights have started! Don't leave Izzy out!" the redhead announced as she entered.
"Get off me, Izzy!" Leshawna shouted.
"BANZAIIII!" the crazy girl replied.
"Oh no, you did NOT just do that!" Gwen exclaimed.
"Kyaaaa!" Lindsay screamed, terrified by something.
"I can't believe you used Lindsay as a shield" Katie scolded.
"It's two against one! I have to level the playing field!" Heather excused herself.
The boys' amusement turned into genuine concern when they heard furniture being hit and glass shattering. They exchanged worried glances before silently sneaking away from the area.
(Cave in the forest)
DJ, Owen, and Duncan shudder as they remember what happened earlier while Harold and Naruto look at each other, confused. What on earth happened this morning?
Geoff, on the other hand, had a conflicted look. "I don't know, dudes. Bridge and kind of hooked up. I don't feel right in making an alliance without her."
Duncan, however, wasn't having any of it. "Let me tell you a truth about women: they're all sisters. When push comes to shove, they stick together. Haven't you seen those chick flicks before?" the delinquent asked, only for Naruto to reply with a blank face.
"Dude, are you seriously basing your theory on a bunch of movies that might not even be true?" Naruto's comment made Duncan give him a look.
"Take it however you want, Whiskers, but if I were you, I'd take the deal. You're one of the biggest threats on this island, and we all saw that when you almost got booted last time" Duncan said, making Naruto frown, though not for the reason the others thought.
(Confession)
"We're gonna be in big trouble, aren't we?" Naruto asked Harold.
The nerd nodded his head in agreement. "Without a doubt. Let's keep this under wraps as much as possible, or we're going home."
Naruto could only nod in agreement. "Deal."
(Cave in the forest)
"Ok, fine, you win" Naruto finally agreed, much to Duncan's satisfaction.
Owen, however, still looked unsure. "I'm not so sure, dude."
(Later)
"AHHHHHH!" The oaf was clearly terrified, mostly because Duncan was holding him by the ankles over what seemed like a cliff.
"Okay, okay, we'll form our own alliance!" Owen cried, to Duncan's satisfaction, who then let go of him. Owen, however, landed on his arms in a drop that was only about 30 centimeters / 1 foot and then rolled onto the ground. Apparently, Duncan had tricked him with a very low fall.
"Geez, Duncan, TV really made you into a scary dude" Owen expressed, now relieved.
(Back in the cave)
"Good, now that everyone agreed, guys unite to save themselves from elimination" Duncan declared, putting his hand in the center.
"Right" the other guys agreed, placing their hands in the center as well. Only Geoff remained conflicted about what to do, and Duncan quickly noticed.
"You in, dude?" the punk asked, adding a little more pressure. After a few seconds, Geoff also placed his hand in the center, officially forming the guys' alliance.
Owen, now excited, exclaimed, "Oh yeah, I'm so pumped! A dudes' alliance! I love it! It's so manly! Yeah! Come here!" The oaf grabbed Duncan and DJ and gave each of them a kiss on the cheek before letting them go. This earned him a series of "what the fuck" looks from everyone. Realizing his mistake, Owen just facepalmed.
Regaining his composure, Duncan looked at the others before announcing, "Now get the fuck out of here."
Geoff was a bit taken aback. "What? Why?"
"I got here first. This is my hiding spot, dude" Duncan explained with a "Isn't it obvious?" look.
(Forest)
'Something is following me, and it's not the camera' thought Chef, his senses on high alert as he scanned the area. He heard a faint noise, prompting him to point in all directions, but when he saw nothing, he continued his path. Suddenly, he looked back, only to see a squirrel coming out of a bush. Dismissing it as nothing, he resumed his journey, unaware that a very sneaky Izzy was mimicking his every move, clearly having a great time.
(Clearing in the forest)
Gwen had somehow managed to camouflage herself perfectly in her surroundings. After carefully scanning the area to ensure no one was watching, she lay flat on the ground, fully covered by her camouflage, making it appear as if there was just a small hill in the clearing. A squirrel passed by and earned itself a punch from the goth girl, sending it flying.
(Wooded area of the forest)
A specific pine tree was shaking a lot, and if you looked up, you could see Geoff had managed to climb to the top, though he was struggling to keep his balance, causing all the movement. A bird soon arrived, making his balancing act even more difficult.
(A specific cave in the forest)
Tex, Rex, and Ren were relaxing in a cave that had been modified to be their home. It had doors, functioning bathrooms, a kitchen, everything a house could have. Everything was peaceful until they heard someone knocking on the door, confusing the three bears. Curious, Rex got up from the couch to open the door, only to find Naruto standing there with several bags of chips.
"Hey Rex, sorry to bother you. Can I hang out with you guys for the rest of the day? I brought a gift" Naruto said, extending his arms to show some chip bags. The wrestling bear licked his lips and invited the Japanese boy in with pleasure.
(Forest)
Chef continued his journey to another part of the forest, though he still had a long way to go before reaching the campsite. Meanwhile, Izzy kept imitating his every move, even scratching her butt without missing a beat. Out of nowhere, the ex-military man turned around, but the redhead managed to hide behind a large rock that completely covered her.
(Main Lodge)
DJ was looking for any good hiding spots. After checking out the main hall, he came up with the idea of climbing onto the ceiling to stay out of anyone's sight. What he didn't know was that Owen, on the opposite side of the room, had the same idea.
Heather emerged from a bush near the building, looking for another hiding spot, and decided to slip into the main lodge, not noticing DJ, who had successfully climbed onto the ceiling.
Not far from there, Lindsay, who was poorly hidden behind a tree, looked around and her face lit up when she saw the main lodge, realizing there were plenty of places to hide.
(Lake in the forest)
Katie was walking around the area, looking for a good hiding spot until she spotted a beaver dam. For the moment, the animals weren't around, so she took the opportunity to get into the water, then poked her head inside the dam to stay afloat in the water.
(Mountainous area)
Harold was exhausted. He had to climb quite a bit to reach a certain height, but it was enough to give him a good view of where everyone might be hiding. In fact, he could see Geoff in the distance, so for the moment, he decided to survey the area until the challenge time ran out.
(Camp Fire pit)
Bridgette is walking around without knowing where to hide until she finds a good spot, but one of her feet gets tangled in the string of lights.
(Main Lodge)
Lindsay slowly opens the door to the building and closes it behind her. She walks around for a bit, looking for a place to hide, until she reaches the kitchen and finds Heather under the table. The blonde girl is thrilled and wastes no time in joining her. "Hey, Heather! What a coincidence, we are just like destined to hide together" she gushes, startling the queen bee so much that Heather bangs her head against the table.
"What? What are you doing here? Can't you find your own hiding spot? This challenge is called hide-and-seek, not hide in groups-and-seek!" Heather snaps, giving Lindsay a stern look.
"But ..." Lindsay tries to protest.
(Camp Fire pit)
Bridgette continues to walk cautiously, still unaware that she's dragging a large string of lights behind her, all while the host watches and laughs at the scene.
"I love this show" he admits, glancing over at the imminent chaos about to unfold.
(Main Lodge - kitchen)
"Dig yourself a hole, disguise yourself as a canoe, I don't care, just do it somewhere else!" Heather keeps scolding the poor bombshell, but they're interrupted when the lights suddenly turn on, causing them both to look at Chef, who's standing there with a not-so-friendly smile.
"This is my kitchen, also known as forbidden territory" the ex-military man declares before pointing at them.
Heather, acting on instinct, quickly pushes Lindsay straight into Chef's arms, leaving her at his mercy. "Take her!" she yells and uses the opportunity to dash away toward the dock of shame.
The bombshell, just recovering her senses, screams when she realizes how close she is to Chef and also tries to run, but Chef is right behind her with his water gun. Fortunately for him, Lindsay ends up behind Heather, making it much easier for him to aim. Once he gets the shot, he fires, hitting the blonde square in the back with such force that it sends her flying into Heather, knocking them both off the dock of shame. They couldn't even manage to touch the base before being eliminated, with Lindsay landing on top of the queen bee. Chef proudly walks over to them, places his foot on Lindsay's back, and strikes a victory pose like a hunter showing off his trophies.
(Later)
A very angry Heather and a guilty Lindsay sit on the steps of the main hall as Chef searches inside, who knows how many people are still hidden in there? The ex-military man checks the fireplace but finds nothing. He's about to head back to the kitchen when he hears a sneeze and immediately looks up, only to see Izzy somehow clinging to the ceiling.
"Uh, I guess you heard that?" the girl asks rhetorically.
"How did you even get up—?" Chef begins to ask, but Izzy cuts him off by dropping down and kicking him in the face, spinning multiple times in the air.
"Yah yah yah yah yah yiaaa!" Izzy shouts as she spins until she lands on her feet, staring down the ex-military man. Even though he could just shoot her, he sets his gun aside and cracks his knuckles, ready for a matchl. Izzy does the same, adding the extra touch of cracking her neck. After a brief stare-off, Izzy makes the first move, charging at him with impressive martial arts skills. Chef is caught off guard by her speed, fierceness, and skill. He has to block her arms and give her a palm strike to the abdomen to create some distance and regain his footing.
'Not bad, crazy maggot, not bad at all' Chef mentally compliments her, while Izzy signals that she's ready for more. Knowing now that this is serious, Chef steps up his game, and the two engage in another fierce exchange of blows. Izzy begins to struggle as Chef's experience starts to overwhelm her. But just as she spots a small opening, she leaps, barely dodging a devastating punch, much to Chef's surprise.
"Bye bye" the girl mocks, twisting mid-air to kick Chef, sending him flying into the kitchen. To ensure her success, she grabs his water gun and tosses it out a window, away from the dock of shame, before sprinting towards another window. She crashes through it, startling Heather and Lindsay. "YOU'LL NEVER GET ME ALIVEEEEEEE!" she shouts, gleefully running toward the base.
Somehow, Chef recovers quickly, jumps through the window, and retrieves his water gun. He begins a brief chase but realizes he won't catch her in time. He takes aim, charges his water gun, and fires. Seeing the situation, Izzy slides across the ground toward the base. A few seconds later, there's the sound of water splashing, with Izzy now submerged underwater.
"Alright, what the heck happened here?" Chris interrupts as the screen freezes, showing both Izzy and Chef arriving just as Izzy slides in. "Let's put some slow motion into this" the host says, and the footage replays in slow motion. Izzy's arm reaches the base just before the water hits her. "Let's continue ... almost there and… PAUSE!" The image stops, showing her left arm touching the base just before the water. "Ooooh, tough luck for Chef, Izzy is the first to win invincibility. Let's keep going." The image returns to normal with Izzy laughing underwater. She's surprised when Leshawna appears, pointing up and asking if Chef is there. The crazy girl confirms it, much to Leshawna's relief. This brings a big smile to Izzy's face; the more friends she has on the island, the better.
(Camp Fire pit)
Bridgette peeks out for a moment to make sure no one is around. After confirming the coast is clear, she rests her head on a rock, completely bored. It doesn't take long for a horrible smell to hit her nose. She looks around and soon spots a small family of skunks behind her.
"Cute... little skunks" the surfer girl says, trying to keep calm as she takes small steps backward. This turns out to be a mistake as she tugs on the remaining string of lights, causing a post to fall and knock over a metal barrel, which lands near the skunks. Startled, the animals spray poor Bridgette, who can only scream in response.
Afterward, she feels a tap on her shoulder and turns to see Chef holding a branch and wearing a mask. "Technically, I don't need to spray you, but..." the ex-military man starts, but Bridgette interrupts him.
"Please, spray me!" the surfer girl pleads, and she's immediately drenched in water. At first, she feels relieved, but it doesn't take long for her to realize the smell hasn't gone away at all.
(Main Lodge)
DJ is being extra cautious, trying to keep track of Chef's whereabouts. His focus is broken when he hears a bird chirping from the rooftop. "Aww, come here, little guy" the Jamaican starts climbing to the top.
Owen, on the other side, also hears the bird and can't help but shake his head. "Wow, either I've been in the sun too long or is that bird talking to me" he comments as he climbs to the center, only to meet DJ, which surprises them both.
"What are you doing in my hiding place, man?" DJ asks Owen.
"Your hiding place? It's mine! Do you have any idea how hard it was to climb up here, old man?" the big guy complains.
"Look, old man, I know we're on the same side now, but that doesn't mean that— Ahh!" The Jamaican couldn't finish when the ceiling gave way beneath him, causing both of them to fall into a back alley inside the building, which Heather undoubtedly heard. She immediately entered to see what happened, and she couldn't help but smile when she saw the two boys.
"You guys are so busted" the queen bee comments with a grin, while Lindsay seems to be pondering something until a smile spreads across her face.
"Hey, I have an idea! Let's each bust someone, and that way we'll both have invincibility" Lindsay proposes.
Heather, in turn, adopts a thoughtful expression until she snaps her fingers. "Hey, I think I have a better idea! Get your own!" The queen bee snarls at her before leading the two boys to the manic chef.
(With Katie)
"How much longer until this challenge is over? I can't feel my legs anymore" complains the girl who has been treading water so far. She's surprised to see a bunch of branches open up like a normal door, revealing a family of four beavers who clearly did not expect to find her in their home.
"What the heck?" the girl comments, impressed, until she receives a slap from the father beaver, who uses his tail to strike her. "Hey, sorry to bother you, but can I stay here for a whi-? Ouch, that hurts!" she protests, but her eyes widen when she sees the three animals turn around and prepare their tails.
Then, an outside shot of the dam reveals several slapping sounds and Katie's cries of pain as she does her best to calm the beavers.
(With Chef)
"AAAYYY!" was Gwen's scream when Chef accidentally stepped on her, although she couldn't complain much when she got sprayed in her face with a burst from the water gun.
"That's five, eight maggots left" Chef mentions as Izzy and a smelly Bridgette walk behind him, with the surfer keeping a considerable distance.
Not long after, Heather, Lindsay, Owen, and DJ join the group. "I just found Owen and DJ in the lodge; that should give me invincibility, right?" the queen bee asks, only for Chef to nod. "Fantastic, then my job here is done."
With that, Heather heads back to the cabin to relax, but not before giving Gwen a mocking look. "Gwen, what an exotic outfit! I hope you win the next environmental-themed contest" the queen bee comments, which undoubtedly earns her an irritated glare from the goth girl.
(Later on)
Bridgette has her hand over her face while everyone else looks at Geoff with expressions of 'are you serious?' since he still hasn't realized they've seen him already.
Chef was about to spray him, but a fun idea struck him, so he just kicked the log with such force that the party boy fell, hitting every branch possible, while the others looked on sympathetically. When the boy finally fell, the ex-military sprayed him right in the face to get a reaction. "Get up, soldier! There are still some worms to catch!"
(Halfway between the rocky area and the forest)
Chef has just found a trail that might lead him to Duncan while the rest of the campers do their best to find anyone.
Gwen, meanwhile, is searching an area with DJ and Owen.
"I wonder where Duncan is hiding" Gwen questions after checking some bushes.
"How should I know; it's not like we formed a-Ah!" Owen was about to reveal the alliance if the Jamaican hadn't elbowed him in the ribs.
"Form what?" Gwen asks from behind a pile of rocks.
"Um... a great friendship" the oaf responds cautiously. The goth girl looks at him, confused, for a few seconds before shrugging and continuing her search elsewhere.
"That was a close one" Owen sighs in relief.
"Be more careful next time, dude" DJ reminds him.
"Secrets aren't my thing, man" the oaf admits, prompting the Jamaican to facepalm.
On another note, it seems Chef has finally found Duncan, who is walking completely soaked behind him.
"Fuck" the punk complains.
"Who are we missing?" Bridgette asks from a safe distance.
"Naruto, Harold, Katie, and Leshawna" DJ replies immediately.
"Where could those four be?" Geoff wonders, scratching his head.
"Um, guys, is it normal for a bunch of branches to be screaming in pain?" Lindsay asks, then leads them to the dam where Katie is, and undoubtedly everyone can hear the screams.
"It's not" Chef replies, loading his gun and firing at the area where Katie, with red cheeks, is being beaten by the beavers.
"Barbie maggot, you have invincibility" the ex-military announces, much to Lindsay's joy.
"Yay!" cheers the bombshell.
"Now, where the heck could the other three worms be?" Chef wonders, recalling all the places he has searched until a revelation hits him, remembering how Katie had hidden. "Underwater" he says, then runs at full speed to the dock of shame with everyone. Although if they had stayed a couple more minutes, they would have seen a small rockslide. Looking up from the camera, we can see Harold hiding behind a rocky pillar quite high up.
"That was a close call" the nerd comments, letting out a sigh and sliding down, relieved he wasn't caught.
(Dock of Shame)
Chef already has his gun loaded and ready to shoot but suddenly stops upon seeing Leshawna sitting in the home base.
"What took you so long, sugar?" the girl teases, prompting the rest of the campers present to praise her for that move. Chef could only nod in admiration of that play, and Chris arrived shortly after.
"Alright campers, the challenge is over. Leshawna, Naruto, and Harold also get invincibility. As for the rest of you, it's time to vote for the loser" the host comments before heading to his loudspeakers.
(With Naruto)
"Naruto, Harold, the challenge is over, so come out of your hiding spots and choose who's going home." Naruto hears Chris's announcement while playing Super Mario Party with the three bears in the living room.
"Already? I thought Chris would stretch this out until sunset" Naruto wonders, then looks at Ren with betrayal. "Dude, why the heck did you steal the star from me when Tex has the most!" the Japanese boy complains while Ren laughs.
(Later - Wawanakwa Theater)
"A boys' alliance? Are you serious?!" Heather demands answers from Izzy, who remains completely unfazed.
"Yep, they definitely want to take advantage of the moment, and with us girls so separated, it's best to win at all costs, Heather" Izzy replies, totally calm.
Heather can only place both hands on her head in total frustration. "Alright alright alright, if I'm lucky, I can get rid of some annoyances in my path with one elimination. Here's what we're going to do" the queen bee orders her alliance.
(Elimination Ceremony)
"A lot of people were saved today, this is going to get interesting tonight," Chris announces as Heather, Lindsay, Naruto, Leshawna, Izzy, and Harold munch on their marshmallows.
"Alright, those who are also safe are Geoff, Owen, DJ" the host declares, while the three guys catch their marshmallows without issue, although Geoff can't help but look worriedly at someone specific.
"Gwen, Duncan, you're also safe" Chris comments as Duncan catches his marshmallow with a smile, and Gwen looks concerned for Katie, who, along with Bridgette a few meters away, watches the host with worry.
"Ladies, this is the last marshmallow of the night; one of you will go home and never return" the host announces.
"Seriously?" Duncan asks with a snort, but Chris ignores him.
"The lucky one receiving it is…" the host announces, prompting everyone to pay attention.
…
…
…
…
…
Bridgette swallows hard as she watches the marshmallow, briefly glancing at Geoff, who undoubtedly returns a look of concern.
…
…
…
…
…
Katie, on her part, closes her eyes and bows her head, her legs trembling slightly from nerves.
…
…
…
…
…
Chris, meanwhile, points at one girl but then gestures to the other before returning to the first, playing with them for a moment before he takes the marshmallow and closes one eye to aim.
…
…
…
…
…
"Bridgette" the host announces, tossing the marshmallow to the gasps of a good portion of the safe campers.
"Okay, even I didn't expect this elimination, and I already knew the outcome" the host admits. "Katie, it's time to go" Chris indicates, pointing at the dock with his thumb.
"F-fine," the taller of the BFFF accepts, her eyes slightly misty, clearly holding back tears as she stands up and walks to the Dock of shame with Chef, who already has her luggage in hand, passing by the rest of the campers who look at her with pity.
Leshawna stops her momentarily and hugs the taller of the best friends. "You played your cards the best you could, honey; be proud of what you've accomplished" the sassy girl reassures her, receiving pats on the back. Katie separates from Leshawna to then look at Gwen.
"I know I'm not the most expressive one here, but thank you for sticking with me when things got crazy with the Screaming Gophers. Take care, Katie" the goth girl also gives her a hug, and when they finish, Katie steps onto the losers' boat, which starts drifting away from the island, all amidst Duncan's confusion and Heather's victorious smile, having dealt a direct blow to the enemy alliance.
(Flashback in cameras)
"So we all agree to vote for Bridgette" Duncan says as all the boys place their hands in the center in the punk's hideout, which they use as a base of operations.
However, Duncan notices Geoff looking doubtful. "Dude, are you ok?" the punk presses, only for the party boy to hesitantly place his hand in the center.
(Forest)
Owen was walking back to the cabin when he was yanked into the bushes, almost about to scream if it weren't for Izzy covering his mouth.
"Alright, Izzy, keep him quiet" Heather orders as she approaches the big guy. "Listen, Owen, I need you to vote for Katie tonight, or I'll reveal your little boys' club against the girls. Is that clear?" the queen bee declares. It isn't until she sees his eyes widen and he nods that Heather tells Izzy to let him go. "Good, and I expect you to keep your promise, Owen. You wouldn't want the others to know that you also voted in my favor when we were with the Screaming Gophers, that would earn you quite a bit of hatred," the queen bee casually comments, leaving the oaf tense.
(Dock of Shame)
Geoff is looking at the scenery around him, thinking about what to do, until someone touches his shoulder, and he turns to be surprised to see Heather.
"Heather?" the party boy asks, not expecting her of all people to be on his side.
"What's wrong, Geoff? I don't know you well, but even I can tell that being this conflicted isn't your style" she says, placing a compassionate look.
"It's nothing, just worried" the guy admits, not revealing much.
"Bridgette, right? Are you worried about never seeing her again after the show?" the queen bee asks, surprising the party boy slightly.
"Is it that obvious?" he asks, only for her to shrug.
"From day one, you were the most excited to meet her" Heather replies. "After the show, we'll all go our separate ways, spend as much time with her as possible, or ask for her number to keep in touch, just follow what your heart tells you, okay?" she recommends before walking away, although unbeknownst to the party boy, the queen bee smiles with satisfaction.
(Confession)
"Sorry, Katie, but I'm voting for you" Owen comments.
*Static*
"Sorry, dudes, but I can't vote Bridgette off, and I don't want to ruin Gwen's chance with Naruto, so I think I'm voting for Katie" Geoff announces his vote.
*Static*
"We can't do anything against Heather, so we decided to vote for Duncan; I don't think that little punk is up for any charity projects" Leshawna votes.
*Static*
"Harold and I have to earn Duncan's trust, so I'm voting for Bridgette" Naruto votes.

(End of Flashback in Cameras)
(Dock of Shame)
"And we're back to having twelve campers" Chris announces amid the mentioned dock. "And Heather is certainly raising the stakes; will anyone be able to stop her? Can Harold and Naruto keep their double alliance a secret? Find out this and more next time on… TOTAL … DRAMA … ISLAND!"
End of the chapter.
Campers: Bridgette, DJ, Duncan, Geoff, Gwen, Harold, Heather, Izzy, Leshawna, Lindsay, Naruto, Owen.
Eliminated: Justin, Noah, Sadie, Trent, Tyler, Izzy, Leshawna, Beth, Cody, Courtney, Eva, Katie.
Well, like Chris said, we are back to 12 campers, damn, how time flies, I'm about to reach the 1 year anniversary of this story, I'll try my best to bring the next chapter as fast as possible, but don't expect it like in the next week or so.
Also, how is the translation going on? I know my English isn't perfect, but I hope I have improved to the point where you, my English readers, find very few grammar mistakes.
Izzy is back and with some new interactions, I still don't understand why she followed Heather in the original series if she didn't do anything, I mean she technically wasn't in Heather's alliance but still was, it was kind of weird, I hope you enjoy my version of Izzy.
And well, that's it for now from the not so much of a reader now.
I will be reading the reviews, accepting constructive criticism and interesting ideas.
Until next time.
(Post-Credits)
Bridgette is currently settling into the room next door in the girls' cabin. The smell was so bad that she had to move, she even had to open the window to let in as much fresh air as possible. Just as she was about to go to bed, someone knocked on the door. Curiously, she opened it to find Geoff standing there with a clothespin on his nose and a board game in his hands.
"Hey, Bridge! I know today wasn't… umm… a great day for you, so I thought a board game might cheer you up. Can I come in?" he asks, his voice sounding a bit nasal, much to the amusement and happiness of the surfer girl.
"Of course, come in!" she says without hesitation, happy to enjoy his company.
As they sit down together, the mood lightens, and they begin to chat and laugh, sharing stories and memories. The weight of the day begins to lift as they immerse themselves in the game, momentarily forgetting the chaos of the competition outside.
