They always loved to sing together, that will never change
END OF TIME
(Song: End of Time: By Lacuna Coil)
(Eric Lyrics, Nell Lyrics)
Ocean View Tavern, Santa Monica
(Begin Song)
Music started to play as the two figures stepped onto the stage and grabbed their mikes. Nell looked over at Eric who looked back with a smile. She reached out and took his hand gently as she brought the mike to her mouth and began to sing.
You've built your life above the sin
You hold my hand before the end comes
Forgiving me
For what I've done 'till the end of days
She turned to face Eric, pulling him to face her as she continued to sing, her eyes locked in his.
'Cause I belong to you
'Cause I am part of you
I am dying in your arms
It's time to go
I can make it through
Eric brought the mike to his mouth as he started to sign in response to her
I've come to realize
Tonight, my dear,
The end of time
Is not so far away
We cannot pray
To save our lives
Nell stepped down off of the stage and walked around the tables, marveling at how many people where there. She passed tables with people that she knew in high school, her friends from college, and even members of her family.
I can feel you
And I think that
Everything you wanted in me
Was the mirror of your dreams
But I couldn't believe what you'd say
She stopped at a table with the team. Eric stepping up behind her and wrapping an arm around her waist.
As I belong to you
My flesh and blood in you
I am burning in this fire
It's time to go
I can't make it through
I've come to realize
Tonight my dear
The end of time
Is not so far away
We cannot pray
To save our lives
They both stood and watched their team. All 4 eyes were downcast and their moods were somber. Kensi felt tears starting to flow as she laid her head on Deeks' shoulder. Deeks rubbed tears of his own out of his eyes. Sam offered his hand to Deeks who grabbed it and squeezed. Locking eyes with each other comforted Sam as Callen took Kensi's hand as well. They were joined by Abby and McGee who offered their support as well to the team.
The team looked around and say the multitude of people offering them nods of support. Director Vance, Cabe Gallow, Nate, Rose, Talia, Arkady, Sebastian, and even Dwaine Pride and Gibbs all showed support of the team as they tried to cope with their emotions
I'm coming home again
And now I know where I belong
Reeling from my instincts
'Cause I realize I'm not alone
Eric took her hand as they walked back toward the stage singing in unison
I've come to realize
Tonight my dear
The end of time
Is not so far away
We cannot pray
To save our lives
I've come to realize
Tonight my friend
The end of time
It's not so far away
We cannot pray
To save our lives
The song ended and the bar was quiet. No one moved or spoke for a few minutes until Deeks grabbed his glass and lifted it up. Kensi followed suit, then Callen and Sam, more and more people followed until everyone had their glasses raised.
"Come on, Rockstar. It's time to go" Eric said, squeezing her hand.
"Lead on, Wolfram" She said, giving him a smile. They walked through the crowds until they stopped at one empty table. They stood for a second and marveled at the flowers, cards, and memories that covered the table, surrounding a tripod that held a wreath and a picture of two figures sitting at that exact table.
A short red headed woman sat in the lap of a taller blonde man in glasses. His chin was rested on her shoulder and his arms were wrapped around her waist, her hands resting on his. The looks on their faces could only be described as true happiness.
"You think they'll be ok without us?" Eric asked her as they turned to each other.
"I think it will take some time but they will do fine." Nell said, reaching up to stroke his cheek.
She rose up on her toes to bring her lips to his in a loving kiss.
"Let's go home" She whispered. Eric turned and opened the door, revealing a blinding white light. The turned and took one more look at their friends before turning and entering the light, the door closing behind them.
One could consider this to be a sister story to Nutshell but I will leave that up to the viewer. Lacuna Coil is a favorite of mine and IMO Dark Adrenaline is a perfect album. There was literally not a song on it I didn't like. If I can figure out how to make it work I will do a second part to the song My Spirit.
As always with new music check out the Tales from the Mission soundtrack on Spotify for all the songs I use in this
