"And that's the situation with Chaldea; you may not believe this, but Sonic is the Master who just appeared from nowhere. Let me repeat: you're a Servant from the Holy Grail that occurred in this city and the sole survivor?" Romani questions
"I hope you're saying that in a way I haven't lost. But yes, the Holy Grail changed to something else. I don't know how it happened, either. The city was engulfed in flames, and the humans vanished. Only the Servants remained. Saber was the first to resume the Holy Grail War. That chap began rampaging like a tiger released from a cage. Archer, Lancer, Rider, Berserker, and Assassin were all defeated by Saber." Caster response
"Survival of Seven Servants... That means the rules of The Holy Grail War were broken..." Olga commented
"I was the only one that came unscathed. Any Servant defeated by Saber became like those two we just fought, corrupted by the black mud. They, and the monsters that sprung up like maggots, started looking for something together. The trouble is that I'm one of the things they're looking for. The Holy Grail War won't end until I'm killed." Caster explains
"I still don't get the point of these Holy Grail Wars. But there's no justification for me to say something when I'm someone from a different place..." Sonic stated
"Don't worry about too much, Blue. You'll understand more about it in the future." Caster assured
"So you're saying that if we defeat Saber..."
"It could probably end this whole ordeal right now. But I can still confirm or deny it by doing so. But either way, brace yourselves; we got company." Caster said
"*Notices Sekeletion Enemies Appear* Alright! I've been itching for a battle! Ready Mash?" Sonic asks
"Right behind you, Master!' Mash replies
The Skeleton charged towards the three with their swords, ready to unleash their assault on them. The first Skeleton lunges toward Sonic and attempts to attack Sonic with a sword slash. Still, he manages to evade the attack and counter back with a double-hitting "break-dance," kicking the Skeleton in circles, making it lose its balance and falling to the ground. Sonic then jumps away as Mash appears with her shield rising above her and slams it down at the Skeleton, breaking and shattering the Skeleton into pieces before fading away. The second Skeleton charged at Mash from behind and was about to attack her until it was hit by an energy blast and sent flying towards a light post and hitting it. Mash notices the Skeleton before turning and looking at Caster, smiling at him. Moments later, three more skeletons holding spears appear and begin charging up at the three before Sonic circles around the three Skeletons and builds up a powerful blue tornado around them. Inside the tornado, Sonic repeatedly struck the three Skeletons at every angle, and they had no chance of attacking Sonic due to his speed, striking them at random angles each time he attacked. After several seconds have passed through, Sonic stops running circles around them as the tornado explodes and destroys the skeletons into pieces before fading away. Sonic looks back at Mash and Caster and gives them a thumbs up, telling them he is okay. Suddenly, two more skeletons wielding swords appear behind Sonic and attack Sonic simultaneously. Mash yells towards Sonic, who notices the Skeletons are ready to strike until powerful energy flies towards them, blasting the skeletons away from Sonic and destroying them before fading away.
"Watch your surroundings, Blue. Almost took you out there." Caster stated
"Heh! Thanks, bud. *Walks Towards Mash and Pats Her on the Back* Don't worry, Mash. Please don't blame yourself for not protecting me. You're still new to all this. You have all the time left to continue to grow." Sonic assuring Mash
"I... I understand, Senpai..." Mash replies
"If only I were a Lancer just now... Man... Caster is not for me. I hate being one to begin with. I'd rather have Blue Boy's power over here, running super fast and doing crazy moves during combat. Hey, what more can you ask for?" Caster said
"Took a lot of getting used to when I started. I made tons of mistakes. But I don't think you'll be capable of going fast and not seeing your surroundings." Sonic replies
"Senpai, Heroic Spirits have the attributes of multiple classes. He is not just a spear-wielder but a high-level Heroic Spirit with qualifications to be a mage. I'm only speculating, but he must be one of the top Servants. The kind that's featured in a magazine called Vivian." Mash said
"Man... These Servants are much more than what they seem... Getting complicated by each explanation..." Sonic commented
"You said a Master was included in an organization called Chaldea, right? That's more than enough for me; Servers tend not to get overly involved in problems outside their period. We ultimately only cooperate as weapons. Your goal is to investigate this anomaly. My goal is to put an end to the Holy Grail War. We share mutual interests. So how about we join forces?" Caster explained
"So you're saying you want to be Sonic's Servant? A bold choice you have there." Olga said
"He does have potential in my eyes. But you don't seem fit for being a Master. No doubt you possess High Quil Magical Circuits, yet isn't a qualified Master? Is it a curse?" Caster question
"Oh, shut up you! I don't need you, Sonic, who's already in your hands!" Olga exclaimed
"I'm okay with that. Our Contract is temporary, so make it count. But I also have a thing to say about your goal. What you're looking for is probably the Greater Grail." Caster asks
"Huh? What's that?" Sonic confuse
"We don't know what that is..." Mash is confused as well.
"This land's true "heart." If there is indeed a "Singularity," it has to be that. But Saber is lingering around the Greater Grail. The remaining Servants she contaminated, too." Caster explains
"So that means Berserker and Archer are still roaming around? Are they strong?" Olga asks
"I can take care of those two while also dealing with Saber! You all can go on and destroy this greater grail, you said. I'll take on anyone regardless of who they'll be!" Sonic assured
"Can you stop being reckless and not get yourself killed?! We don't know where either Saber or this Greater Grail is! And here you are, ready to run off to God knows where!" Olga annoyed
"No need to blow a fuse, little lady. Archer can be taken care of when I'm around. However, Berserker is tricky, so Saber had trouble with that monster. But he won't strike if we don't bother him." Caster stated
"Try explaining that to the Hedgehog right here," Olga commented
"Better to care for them than worry that they are roaming around and could strike when we're not looking," Sonic replies
"You..."
"I guess it's settled now. We'll team with Mr. Caster to retrieve the Greater Grail. "
"Don't call me Mister. Blue Boy here gets to decide what our next move is." Caster stern
"My first move is to find the Greater Grail and Saber. We should get going as well; time is of the essence! *Dashes Away*"
"WHAT DID I JUST TELL YOU?! GET BACK HERE YOU RAT! *Runs Off To Catch Sonic*" Olga shouted
"A-Apologies for the two of them, Caster... They are still trying to make peace between the two of them..." Mash apologizing
"No worries, kid! I haven't had this much fun in a while. Let's catch up to them before monsters rip their body parts off." Caster replies
*At A Different Location*
"Yo, Blue. It seems like Kyrielight is a little down over there. You're her Master. Do something to cheer her up." Caster said
"You're right. I can't just say anything. Hey, Mash, what's wrong? What's with the look on your face? Anything you want to talk about?" Sonic concern
"I-I'm fine! There's nothing wrong with me, Master! But... That's the problem... Nothing's different... Under your command, I have gained enough experience... But I'm still not able to unleash my Noble Phantasm... I don't even know how that works... I'm like a defective Servant..." Mash upset.
"It pains me to see you this way, Mash... I'm doing everything I can to help you unleash your Noble Phantasm... I truly am..." Sonic disappointed
"So that's what's going on, eh? You indeed have a good sense of responsibility, mash. However, achieving your Noble Phantasm can't happen overnight either. Servants wouldn't be as special if you achieved it in under a day." Romani explains
"What are you talking about? Servants can master something like that immediately. Heroic Spirits and Noble Phantasms are the same thing. If the young lady here can fight as a servant, you can use your noble phantasm at that moment. And yet you can't, which means magical energy is not circulating right. Let's see, maybe enthusiasm? No, perhaps too reserved? I'm sure it's because you don't yell out when you practice." Caster said
"REALLY?!" Mash shouted
"Faaaaaaaaa? (What are you doing there, Mash?)." Fou surprise
"Whoa Mash. Let's not try not to burst any eardrums around..." Sonic said
"Don't just yell like that so suddenly!" Olga exclaimed
"S-Sorry..."
"I didn't exactly say yell like that; it was more of a metaphor. Well, at any rate, I see you have enthusiasm. Blue boy, you heard the young lady. Do you mind if we take a quick detour?" Caster asks
"Detour?"
"I'm just talking about special training. It won't take long. I'm a Caster right now, so leave the healing to me. First, we'll start small. Let me inscribe some misfortune-bringing runes… Okay, we're done."
"We got company! Get ready, everyone!" Sonic exclaimed
What, are you expecting me to fight alongside you as well?!" Olga exclaimed
"Get behind me, Director! Your orders, Senpai!" Mash stated
"Time for some action!" Sonic replies
Skeletons begin to show up near the group, ready to attack them. Sonic begins charging at one of the Skeletons at light speed. The Skeleton notices Sonic and charges at him as well. Even before the Skeleton can perform a sword slash towards Sonic, Sonic grabs the Skeleton and quickly backflips repeatedly with the Skeleton before performing the tomoe-nage and throwing it flying towards Mash. Mash notices the Skeleton flying towards her. She holds her shield tightly and slams it at the skeleton, sending it flying. Moments later, Caster fires energy at the skeleton as it all explodes and destroys it before fading away. The skeleton charges Sonic from behind and slashes him, but Sonic is ready for the attack and evades the sword attack. Soon after escaping the attack, Sonic counters back by performing a tornado kick at the Skeleton's Skull head and shatters it into small pieces before fading away. Suddenly, two more sword-wielding Skeletons appear as they both charge at Mash. Mash notices and charges right at the skeletons as well. The Skeletons were about to swing their swords right at Mash before she came running towards them at full force and slammed them into her shield, where both Skeletons got knocked back and tripped, falling to the ground. Moments later, Caster fires more energy at the skeletons as the energy explodes once, making contact with the Skeletons and sending them up into the air. Soon after, Sonic jumps right at them and performs an axe kick at one of them, sending them down the ground and hitting the other before both hit the ground hard and fade away. After taking down two more Skeletons, more appeared in front of them.
"They just won't give up...!" Mash sweating
"We got this, Mash! You want to use your Noble Phantasm. Keep fighting! We got this!" Sonic exclaimed
"You heard Blue. Show us what you do." Caster said
The three continue to fight for the next several minutes, and the Skeletons continue to show up in numbers. Eventually, Skeletons appeared less and less until none showed up.
"I-I can't continue fighting back-to-back... I'm sorry... Rather than test my will, please teach me some solid theories…" Mash tired
"You just don't get it, do you? Did I miscalculate? Oh well, let's cross that bridge when we get to it. Okay, I'm your next opponent. You don't have to hold back because we're allies. I won't hold back when I kill blue boy here." Caster said
"H-Huh...?!"
"Excuse me, what?" Sonic surprise
"What are you doing?! Are you crazy?! What does Sonic have to do with this?!" Olga shock
"A Servant's problems are the Master's problems. Didn't I mention that you share the same fate? You've had the same thought, right, blue boy? It's your death when the young lady can't stand anymore." Caster said
"What the heck are you talking about?" Sonic replied
"Master... Stand back! I... won't be a burden for Senpai! I won't...!" Mash exclaimed
"Now that's what I like to hear. Let's start a real Servant battle." Caster said
"Do whatever you can, Mash. Don't ever give up, even when things seem hard." Sonic assured
"I will, Master. I will."
As Sonic and Olga watched from behind, Mash and Caster began battling each other. As their fighting raged on for several minutes, Mash is seen having difficulty keeping up with Caster and struggling to block his attacks. She desperately did her best to attack Caster as much as possible, but Caster was more potent than her and couldn't deal as many hits as she wanted. Olga turns to look at Sonic and notices Sonic looking concerned on his face.
"*Breathing Heavily* I… I can still… fight!" Mash sweating profusely
"Come on, kid! If I were any other Heroic Spirits, I would have killed you the minute you showed signs of slowing down and getting tired! Is this seriously all you have?!" Caster said
"O-Of course not! I can still fight! I can protect my Master just as well as any other Servant!" Mash retaking her fighting stance
"Come on, Mash, you got this! Don't give up! Don't let Pajama-wearing Joker talk you down!" Sonic shouted
"S-Sonic! I'm doing my absolute best! I won't fail you, Master, I swear on it!" Mash replied
"Stay focused! *Lunges Towards Mash and strikes her several times while she is distracted and blasts her with his staff*."
"GHHHAK! *Falls On One Knee* S-Shoot..."
"Mah! *Dashes Towards Mash To Help Her* It's okay, Buddy. You did your best out there." Sonic assured
"You disappoint me, kid. I see a lot of potential in you, but you're not trying… It doesn't matter now; you can think about that when you're not burning to a crisp with Blue Boy here! My spell is the coffin of flames, a giant of verdant thorn. Retribution, a shrine that will purify human misery… Befall the Wicker Man! And behold, as both good and evil bit the dust! *Unleashes A Powerful Fireball Towards The Three* It was a pleasure meeting you three." Caster said
"I… I can't fall here… Sonic risked his life to save me… I can't just waste it and get us all killed… I have to fight… I have to fight and protect my Master!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! *Slams Her Shield Down As A Large Barrier Forms In Front Of Her, Sonic, And Olga From The Powerful Raging Flames*"
"Whoa... Mash... Could that be?"
"Did I manage to unleash my Noble… Phantasm… I-I… I did it! I just… I felt the desire and need to protect Master no matter what, and it just… came out!" Mash shocked
""HAHAHAHA! Not bad kid, not bad at all! I knew you'd survive that. But I never thought you and your Master would walk out without a scratch. Be happy, wait, no… Praise her, blue boy. That young lady saved your blue-furred butt, and she, without question, is a first-rate Heroic Spirit." Caster said
"Senpai, D-Did I do a good job? I wanted to be useful to you, so I gave it everything I had!" Mash said
"That was incredible, Mash! You finally used your Noble Phantasm! I'm so happy for you! *Hugs Mash Tightly.*" Sonic excited
"*Returns The Hug* T-Thank you so much, Master! Thank you! I'll continue to do my absolute best to support you!" Mash replies
"I didn't expect her to unleash her Noble Phantasm that soon. Mash was never someone with a strong will…" Romani said
"I always knew deep inside her heart she was a strong person who would do anything to protect her friends. She just needed time to grow, and now she's finally showing her true self to the world." Sonic said
"Just as the blue boy said. You may call the young lady here protector. There's no point in teaching a bird to swim, is there? You have to teach a bird how to fly high. Although… She didn't get to obtain its True Name." Caster said
"To have your wish to unleash your Noble Phantasm granted for you, even inexperienced, is quite inspiring. You should be proud of that ability and learn to wield it well." Olga praising Mash
"Thank you, Director. But… even though I can unleash my Noble Phantasm now, I still don't know its True Name, nor the True Name of the Heroic Spirit." Mash said
"And how about we give it a new name then? How about Kyrielight's blessing?" Sonic said
"Surely you can come up with something more creative. How about "Lord Chaldeas?" Chaldea is significant to you, so it would make the spell to use." Olga mentions
"I like that name, "Lord Chaldeas." That fits you perfectly, Mash. And the desire to try it out after getting it is only human nature. Caster, would be Mash's sparring partner?" Romani asks
"I'd love to. I was holding back before, but her defense was assuring. I'll hammer the basics of Noble Phantasms into your head. Blue boy, young lady, are you ready?" Caster said
"Ready when you are! Ready Mash?"
"Right behind you, Senpai!"
Caster begins their spar by firing energy balls towards Sonic and Mash. Mash gets in front of Sonic and easily blocks Caster's oncoming attacks. Sonic then jumps over Mash and performs a homing attack right at Caster. Caster quickly dodges it as Sonic hits the ground instead. Caster soon after fires flames right towards Sonic; Sonic notices the oncoming flames coming towards him, but instead of moving out of the way to avoid them as usual. He stands still as the fire passes through his body, and all hits the ground behind him and explodes. Caster notices what just happened and continues to fire more flames toward Sonic. But before he could even shoot a single flame, Sonic lunges toward Caster and performs a spin dash towards him, knocking him away from him. Soon after getting hit by Sonic, Mash runs up to Caster, slams him with her shield, knocks him away, and hits a light post. Caster slowly looked up as Mash and Sonic charged toward him at full speed. Caster fires more flames at the two, but both manage to either dodge or block the fire from hitting them. Soon after, Mash jumps into the air and slams her shield down at Caster hard while Sonic performs a roundhouse kick toward Caster's face and knocks him to the ground.
"N-Not bad you… Not bad." Caster said,
"We did it, Master! Another victory for us!" Mash excited
"We sure did, Mash. Good job. Well, that was a fun warm-up. Now come on, let's easily take down Archer, Berserker, and Saber!" Sonic said
"Good idea," Caster said
