Orleans (Part 1)

*Orleans, 1431 AD*

The Rayshifts were successful as Sonic and Mash arrived inside the 1st Singuklarity together. Sonic notices that he landed sitting on a tree while Mash landed next to the tree on the ground.

"Looks like we made it after all. How did you guys know I prefer to sleep under a tree?" Sonic said

"I guess the Rayshift pinpointed us in different coordinates. But at least we arrived safely." Mash replies

"*Appears Behind Mash's Shoulder* Fou! Fou! Fou! (Don't you forget about something?)." Fou, Appearing

"Fou? Did you decide to tag along with us again? I didn't even realize you were coming..." Mash, Surprised

"I give you credit for sneaking in, pal. Even I was unaware of you tagging along." Sonic commented

"Fou… kyuu~"

"In that case, welcome aboard, Fou. Let's see if you can keep with me again." Sonic stated

"Master. I have confirmed the time-axis coordinates. It looks like it's the year 1431. It means we're in the middle of the Hundred Years' War. But this should be during the war's respite period." Mash explains

"One Hundred Years War? Hmmm... I know nothing about this war other than the supposed fighting that lasted 100 years..." Sonic replies

"That's the gist of it, Senpai. The war during this era was pretty carefree. Captured knights were released for monetary payments almost every day." Mash said

"I see. *Looks Up At The Sky And Whistes* You don't see that daily..." Sonic commented

"Senpai? What's wrong? *Looks Up* Oh... my..."

"Yes, we're connected! It's not the best quality, but I have a video feed now! Wait, what's wrong, you two? Both of you staring at the sky like that." Romani asking

"This is… A ring of light… No, some form of magecraft cast over the satellite orbit? In any case, it's gigantic. At worst, it's as big as North America. Hmmm, records show such phenomena occurring in 1431." Romani explains

"Well, whatever it is, we'll find the answer at some point. We just started everything after all." Sonic commented

"You're right, Sonic. Let's get started with the mission and concentrate on surveying onsite. Start by searching for leylines." Romani said

"What the Doctor said. Explore the area, contact the people of this era, and set up the summoning circle; there are many things to do. We have to knock them out one at a time. Let's first move towards a city, Senpai."

"Sounds like a good idea. To the nearest city!" Sonic exclaimed

*A Bit Later*

"*Looking At The Group Of Soldiers* Hmm, it's not every day I see mideavail soldiers wielding actual swords," Sonic commented.

"Looks like a French scout brigade. What do we do? Should we attempt to make contact?" Mash questions

"Probably just stand back and not bother them right now. We still don't know what we're getting into." Sonic replies

"Maybe we should at least try to, Senpai. We need to get some intel about our current whereabouts at least." Mash questions

"Only one way to find out," Sonic asks

"*Walks Towards The French Soldiers* Hello, excuse me. We are travelers… we're only here to know about the nearest town we can head to."

The Soldiers didn't take this lightly. They quickly got into their battle formation and unsheathed their swords, ready to attack Sonic and Mash.

"Why... Why can't everything go right for once...?" Mash Sighed

"Meh, I didn't expect our questions to be answered anyway. We have to do this my way, then. *Picks Mash Up In A Bridal Carry* Ready?" Sonic asking

"S-Senpai...! A-Again...!? H-Hold on! Let me prepare myself this time!" Mash embarrassed

"It'll be quick, I promise. Anyway, let's move on. *Begins To Dash Passed The Group Of French Soldiers*"

"Wait, what about their base of operations?! We don't even know where you're headed, Sonic..." Romani commented

"Just looking at where they were headed, It's probably a safe bet to head in this direction. I have an excellent feeling about that." Sonic replies

"*Sighs* Sometimes Sonic, I just wished I could understand you more..." Romani commented

*Later*

After a bit, Sonic, Mash, and Fou arrived at the nearest town the French Soldiers were supposed to head to. Sonic skids to stop himself and gently puts Mash back on her two feet.'

"I guess we're here. It doesn't look as pretty as I thought..." Sonic commented

"Back-to-back skirmishes in this place must've taken a toll on this town's design. But I never expected it to be that destructive... What happened...?" Mash confused

"It's a complete ruin on the inside… The outer wall is more or less intact, but you can't call this a fort." Romani replied

"Intruders! And a walking freak!" A French Soldier Exclaimed

"I wonder how many times I heard that before..." Sonic commented

"Nous sommes des voyageurs. Nous ne sommes pas là pour vous faire du mal. Veuillez déposer vos armes, monsieur." Mash, Speaking French To The Soidler

"You're not… an enemy? But is that creature right next to you...? What even is that...?"

"It's a rare species of animal that I discovered on the outskirts of this town. But I'll explain that some other time; why didn't Charles VII sign the peace treaty?" Mash asks

"King Charles? So you don't know? The king is dead. A witch's flames burned him." The Soldier responded

"A Witch's flames killed him? What is even going on...?" Sonic thought

"It's "Jeanne d'Arc." She has risen again as the "Dragon Witch." She retreated quite a while ago. But where do we have to run to? This is our home, but there's nothing we can do." The solder said

"Jeanne d'Arc is a witch? Mash, who the heck is even that? I know I keep playing 20 questions, but I seriously don't know who she is." Sonic admits

Before anyone else can respond to his question, the Soldier yells in horror and runs away as Sonic and Mash turn around to see a group of skeleton soldiers heading toward them.

"Again, it's just one thing after another. Alright, Mash! Let's take care of these freaks!" Sonic exclaimed

Moments later, three sword-wielding Skeletons begin charging at Sonic and Mash. Sonic charges at the Skeletons and lunges toward them. He performs a strong kick swing at one of them, knocking them back away from him. The second skeleton skeletons sword at Sonic and tries to attack him. Still, Sonic dodges and soon gets into a charge-like stance, then launches himself at the skeleton, curling into a ball and cutting the skeleton before vanishing and landing on the ground. The third skeleton lurks from behind but is interrupted by Mash slamming into it and knocking the Skeleton skeleton Sonic. Sonic notices the first skeleton up and charges at him very quickly. Sonic begins charging his spin dash, then unleashes his attack, ramming into the skeleton and breaking it into pieces. Skeleton it to pieces before vanishing away. The third skeleton was charging toward Sonic, but Mash jumped in front of it and kicked its head off its body, crushing it with her shield and defeating the enemy soon after.

"That should take care of things for a bit. Great job, Mash." Sonic said

"Doing my best, Senpai," Mash replies

"I-I can't believe you took them on... E-Especially the talking animal here... W-Who can also talk..." The Soldier Shocked

"Big surprise, eh? But we're used to stuff like this. I'm sorry, but could you explain this from the start? Is it true that Jeanne d'Arc has been resurrected?" Mash asks

"Yes. I took part in the siege of Orleans and the ceremony, so I remember it well. Her hair and skin color are different, but there's no question that she's a saint from the past. Hearing that she'd been captured by the English and burned at the stake, we trembled in fury. But… she was resurrected. And through a pact with the devil, no less!" The more solid explaining

"What do you mean, the devil? Like the Skeleton soldiers earlier?" Mash mentioned

"Not those. At least those we can handle ourselves."

Suddenly, roars echo in the sky as Sonic, Mash, and the Soldier notice oncoming Wyverns heading toward them. The Soldier panics, but the other two prepare for the inevitable battle.

"First Skeletons, now literal dragons? This feels like a normal day against Eggman's dumb machines." Sonic commented

"Sonic, these aren't supposed to exist in the 15th Century! What are Wyverns doing here in this period?!" Mash shocked

"I'm not entirely sure, but we must care for them before they do more harm! Are you ready?" Sonic asks

"Yes! Your Commands, Master!"

Before the two could take on the Wyverns, they heard someone calling out to them. They looked at each other, confused, before looking at whoever was shouting at them.

"Soldiers, douse yourself with water! You can momentarily defend against their flames! You there! Please pick up a weapon and fight! Together with me!" The Female exclaimed

"Huh?"

"Who is..."

"N-Nevermind! Let's take these guys down! Let's go, Mash!" Sonic exclaimed

The Wyvern charge at Sonic and Mash and are about to attack them with their claws until Sonic homes up to the Wyvern at incredible speeds and delivers a hosted combo of lightning-fast kicks. Mash, the Soldier, and the Female watched in total shock as Sonic defeated the Wyvern by kicking it away towards a tree. Soon, at the end of the combo, the force from the attack throws the Wyvern distance away, and Sonic lands back down next to Mash.

"It's all yours, Mash and Lady. Take them down!" Sonic said

"T-That's what I like to hear." The Female said

Moments later, the Female runs at the Wyvern and strikes it several times with her flag pole-like spear. She was causing it to start bleeding. The Wyvern is in pain as it charges toward the Female to attack her, but Mash gets in front of her and blocks the Wyvern Slash attack from hitting the Female. Moments later, both Sonic and the female-run up to the Dragon and strike at it simultaneously. The Wyvern roars in pain as it attempts to block the attacks from the Female and Sonic, but both are faster. The Wyvern disappears soon after.

"That was incredible! I own you one big time!" Sonic said to the female

"Victory is in our hands." The Female responded

"Master, that was incredible!" Mash excited

"All right, fine job everyone! I was watching with sweaty palms and sweets in my hand! But I should've expected Sonic to do crazy moves like always." Romani said

"I still got more in me! You've seen nothing!" Sonic replied

"Doctor.,, Those were the sweets that I got, right?" Mash said

"Huh? What? Is that right? I found them in the Command Room beside the tea, so I thought…"

"… I got them as a token of gratitude for when we return from this Order. They weren't for you, but for Senpai, who no doubt fought extremely bravely on the frontlines.' Mash replied

"Mash… you've become such a thoughtful person… I must say, these are some delicious sweets. I'm sure Sonic will be thrilled, too!" Romani eating the sweets

"… Master. When we return to Chaldea, please reserve enough combat resources for one attack. "I've registered one more enemy that I'd like to hit with the "back of my blade," Mash said.

"He's all yours, Mash. Do whatever is necessary." Sonic replied

"Impossible, you're… No, no way! Run! The witch is here!" The Soldier shouted as he and the others who were watching were running away

"What do you mean? She helped us out. What are you on about? Don't listen to them, lady. You were amazing just now. But, who are you still anyway?" Sonic assures

"Ruler." My Servant class is Ruler. My True Name is Jeanne d'Arc." Jeanne Introducing Herself

"Jeanne… d'Arc?"

"Is that the Jeanne who came from the dead?" Sonic, Confused

"We'll talk about that later. It is nothing we should speak of in front of them. Come over here. Please."

"… We've been invited. What should we do, Senpai?" Mash asks

"I think we should just go for it and follow her," Sonic replied

"Kyu kyu kyu!"

"I agree as well. She looks weakened, but she's a Servant, too. I'm sure she's aware of the situation in this era. Let's ask her for details." Romani said

"First, please tell me your names. Espiecllay you blue… I've never seen a talking animal here before, and I would appreciate it if you could explain yourself." Jeanne asked for Sonic's name

"My Name is Mash Kyrielight." Mash introducing herself

"Names Sonic… Sonic The Hedgehog. Just a Hedgehog who has an appetite for an adventure," Sonic introduced himself

"He's my Master," Mash said

"Master? So there are Masters even in this Holy Grail War?" Jeanne said

"No, it has nothing to do with the Holy Grail War. I am just a Demi-Servant." Mash replied

"Demi-Servant?" "Not a true Heroic Spirit. Have you heard of us?" Mash asks

"… Right. We should probably clear that up first. I am indeed a servant, and my class is a Ruler. I understand that. But… Most of the information about the Holy Grail War that should be provided is missing. No, not just information. My stats have ranked down as well. Not only have I lost the anti-Servant Command Spells, but I also can't even reveal their True Names anymore. Luckily, this is my homeland where I was born and raised. "But the soldier said that Jeanne d'Arc turned into a "Dragon Witch." Mash Brings Up

"You'll understand soon enough, Senpai. So does that mean two of the same Servants have been summoned in the same era?" Mash questions

"Oh, that's right, we didn't introduce ourselves. Nice to meet you, Saint Jeanne d'Arc. My name is Romani Archaman. Everyone calls me Roman. I do various support tasks. Nice to meet you." Romani introducing himself

"Excuse me, Mademoiselle Jeanne. It's our turn now. Our objective is to correct this twisted history. We belong to an organization by the name of Chaldea."

*Minutes Later*

"… I see, I understand now. To think that the world itself has been incinerated. My worries were so trivial. But now, I…" "Fou?" "I'm an incomplete Servant, and even I cannot trust "myself." The Jeanne 'd' Arc that occupied Orleans… Not only that, but those flying dragons…"

"You mean the wyverns… There is no way wyverns existed in 15th-century France. More importantly, he called you a "Dragon Witch"." Mash said

"Even alone, you will fight… She's just like history says, Master." Mash said

"I like the sound of that, Jeanne! I want to join you and take on the other Jeanne." Sonic said

"R-Really?" Jeanne replied

"Our objectives and Ms. Jeanne's are the same. Just like Sonic said…, I will help you out." Mash said

"Right. It's best to work together with Jeanne here. It's a rare honor to fight alongside a Saint and Savior!" Romani said

"Meh, it's just another Tuesday for me teaming up with others," Sonic said

"Mademoiselle Jeanne, we have our objectives but want to aid you. Will you allow us to fight under your flag as your companions now?" Mash asks

"Oh… The pleasure will be all mine. I cannot possibly thank you two enough. Thank you, Mash, S-Sonic… I thought I would be in this fight all alone. It saddens me that they'd mistake me for that other Jeanne. But it can't be helped. It hasn't been more than a few days since I was burned at the stake… If a resurrected me caused a massacre in Orleans, then I can't blame them for being scared of me. I was afraid the British might be stirred up, but it would appear things are going smoothly. We should seek Jeanne, they call a witch, and defeat her. But for now, we should scout around first. The goal is simple but not so much," Jeanne Explains.

"Or we could just directly go towards her and fight her this instance. I'll take you two wherever she is right now." Sonic suggest

"Maybe. Maybe you should hold back for now, Sonic. It's an unfamiliar land, and we have not set up any bases. For now, take the initiative and gather intel on their defenses. "Jeanne, is there a reading on any Servants besides ourselves?" Mash asks

"We can deal with all of this in the morning. I think the two of you should get some rest." Sonic suggest

"That sounds great! You should get some rest as well, Sonic." Mash said

"It's fine; I can be on watch while you two are sleeping," Sonic assures

"But not sleeping a lot would hurt you more, Senpai. You've been through a lot today as well." Mash concerned

"Don't worry about it. Besides, this isn't my first time staying up all night. Don't worry, I promise I'll sleep as well. I want to protect both of you in case something happens. And also, Jeanne, are you feeling okay, even after what's been on lately?" Sonic said

"Yes, I am fine. My abilities may have gone down in rank, but I still possess the basic abilities of a Servant. But anyway, good night." Jeanne replies
