Sibling Rivalry
Chapter 1 REWRITE
Way to the west, past the hills, rocky terrain, and snow-covered taverns was a hidden civilization, hidden in a valley not too different from the Valley of Peace. It had been rough for the residents of that valley for a while, there was no doubt. However, there was no way pandas were going to lie down and take whatever cards were dealt. They became self-sufficient, growing crops for the entire hidden village. They rebuilt their own economy and market place, trading and bartering with items made entirely from scratch. In the wake of becoming displaced by an attempted genocide, they rose and built something even better than before. They rebuilt from the ground up, completely. There was a certain level of pride when it came to acknowledge all that they had accomplished in the twenty-some years since that horrible, fateful day. When it came to news, they had a scarce number of messengers that told them only of important news, of major and significant world events from the outside world they were forced to hide from.
Way to the west, there was a hidden civilization, a hidden village, hidden in a crevice between two giant skyscraping mountains that protected the panda residents inside. Pandania. The hidden safe haven that protected them from Shen and his cultist followers. Twenty-some years ago, Lord Shen, the milky-feathered peacock prince of Gongmen City had attempted and nearly succeeded in eradicating the Panda race. After the attempted genocide, if a panda had left the village insisting to return with news or supplies, they never did. They could only assume that Shen or one of his followers had slain the missing panda. No one was safe to leave the village. No, not until the merciless peacock was dead and news of it reached all the corners of the Earth.
It wasn't until Klu Verdana, chief of Pandania, had a vision during meditation that his son was alive. Not too long later, a messenger had come with news from the outside world: Lord Shen, the power-hungry, ruthless banished peacock prince was dead! How, though, did the peacock prince come to his demise? The forced-to-silence messenger had told them, "Taking down Lord Shen was no easy feat. It took the combined efforts of several kung fu masters, the Furious Five, the great Shifu, and the catalyst that shifted the balance of fate on their side, the Great Dragon Warrior, a panda of great persistence, strength, and heart. The team of masters had held the great army off while the Dragon Warrior himself had taken on and vanquished Lord Shen once and for all.
Klu Verdana was the chief of Pandania, the one who helped rebuild the village from the ground up. His efforts could not be done though, without his strong and brave wife, Cari Verdana. Luckily, Cari had scarcely evaded Lord Shen and a small group of his cultist wolves when a nearby village had interfered. Lord Shen vowed to return to vanquish the village and the female bear. However, when he returned with even more wolves this time, the village had been abandoned and the female panda was nowhere to be found. Luckily for her, he would never find her again. The married pair held onto the hope that their firstborn son, Li Verdana, was still alive out there somewhere, safe, and loved. When Cari had returned to find them, Klu was overjoyed to find out his wife was alive and devastated that their son wouldn't be joining them in their secluded oasis. They wept, they grieved over the loss of their firstborn son. For twenty years, they flipped back and forth between being unsure and so sure that their son was alive or dead. That is over now. They no longer had to wait to know - they knew their son was still alive. He was still alive, out there, and they had faith that fate, the universe, would bring their son back once again.

Author's Note: 11/3/24: I am terribly sorry about the abandoned story of 12 years, 11 months, and 7 days. I am hopeful in rewriting it and finishing it. I do want to note, this story takes place after the events of KFP 2, I do not acknowledge KFP 3 or 4 and I certainly do not own the characters. They all belong to DreamWorks, I am just inspired by the story they had created and set up in the first two movies. If you're still here, amazing, thank you. I hope to make this story even better (and complete) than the first time around.
