You know the story of Moana of Motunui, who traveled across the ocean and restored the heart of Te Fiti. With the help of Maui, Demigod of the wind and sea, hero of men, etcetera, etcetera. But what you don't know is that there was another on this journey. One who severed as a protecter to Moana.

This is the story of that protector and the bond he shared with the young adventuress.

He came from a far away land and a different time, dressed in red with a lightning bolt on his chest. There aren't many records of this protector's true name, but there is one name that was remembered throughout the centuries. That name was...Shazam.

***Maui's Island***

"You lying, slimy, son of a-!"

Moana was furious. She had just found her target; Maui. Shapeshifter. Demigod of the wind and sea, yada, yada, yada and all that crap. Yet, while acting like the "great hero" of legend, he had actually duped her and trapped her in this cave.

Oooh, she was going to get him. One way or another.

She had to get out of this cave. But how? Looking behind her, she saw that the cave went back deeper. Hoping to define another way out, Moana ran deeper into the cave until she came to a wider part of the cave with a higher ceiling. But she stopped when she saw a massive statue of Maui. The detail of it, down to the waviness of his hair was all there.

'This guy is really full of himself,' Moana said to herself with an amused smirk and eye roll. But as she rolled her eyes, she noticed a crack in the roof of the cave. This gave her hope as she saw a potential way out.

But how to get up there? Looking around, Moana's attention was pulled back to the statue of Maui. Noticing its height and how close it was to the roof of the cave, an idea came to her. Running around to the back of the statue, Moana began to climb up using both the back of the statue and the cave wall for support as she made her way up. With a steady pace and carefulness, she finally made it to the top.

Now for the tricky part.

Positioning herself between the head of Maui's statue and the cave wall, Moana then pushed her feet against the cave wall with all her might, causing the colossal statue to teeter and topple over. Holding on tightly, she rode the falling monument for a brief moment until it was almost beneath the crack of the cave roof and jumped.

Thankfully, she made it and — using the same method with the statue and the cave wall — began climbing out of the cave. However, her foot slipped as she tried to bring it up, causing her entire grip to fail. Before she knew it, Moana was falling.

A numbing feeling came with the impact as she landed on the back of Maui's statue and then the sandy floor of the cave. The force of the impact was so strong, she was barely able to move. She could still feel her legs, but that wasn't necessarily a good thing as they were shattered, resulting in an AGONIZING pain. Along with this, it hurt for her to breathe. This was due to her ribs being cracked. And from her head came a splitting headache.

She laid there on the ground, now feeling the excruciating pain spreading throughout her body. She attempted to move, but the slightest movement made it worse. She could only feel and not feel. She could feel the pain, but nothing else.

The anxiety within Moana began to rise. So much so that through struggling breaths, she managed to cry and shed many, many tears. Straining through the pain, Moana managed to move her jaw a little and some sound her voice.

Though scraggly and wet from the internal bleeding, Moana cried out.

"HELP!" Her cry echoed throughout the cave and into the air. "HELP ME, PLEASE! SOMEBODY! Anybody! Please, help me!"

With every cry, with every sharp intake of breath to cry more, the pain came back in waves for Moana, threatening to drown her. In this moment, Moana became afraid. More than she had when she had gone past the reef of her island home, and much more than when the storm came upon her. Now, she was scared of dying here, away from her family, alone.

As she cried, Moana prayed that someone, somewhere would hear her and find her.

"Please!" She whispered tearfully, "Someone hear me! Please!"

And unbeknownst to her...someone did.

How was that for an opening? I HATE hurting Moana, especially since she's such a strong and independent character. But believe me when I say it won't happen again. This was just the only way I could think of to do what I'm doing; crossing over the Disney and DC Universes. Crazy, I know. But that's fanfiction for you and I'm going to have fun as long as I can with it!

So you might be wondering why I wanted to write this. I won't bore you with too many details, but briefly... When I was 15, I was working on a story called "The Ninja Squad," and one of the characters in there had Asher Angel fancasted as him. But then I created a love interest for that character and then Moana came out and I absolutely FELL IN LOVE with Auli'i Cravalho! So much so that I fancasted her as the love interest for the character of Asher's. Then SHAZAM came out in 2019...and I began to wonder...what if Shazam, or rather Billy Batson met Moana? 👀 It was a crazy idea...but I loved it and I just couldn't let it go.

I danced around with I for a long time, but never did it. And now, with Moana 2 out and absolutely KILLING it at the movies, I took that as a sign to go ahead and share this passion project with you guys. 😅😊 so yeah, I hope you guys enjoy it, and I look forward to hearing from y'all, should you want to continue reading.

So stick around, the next chapter will be out VERY soon!

See y'all then! (chee-hoo 😁)
