61. Above the Rest!
The thing was that Shou knew he was good. He knew better than everyone else how good he was. He beat those who prey on weaklings. He carried out Norn's wish for the digimon and for humans to its fullest. It was all he had. When his parents fought, when his school demanded more and more, he could lose himself in Peckmon and Digimon and people who really cared.
Unlike Tsurugi.
It bothered him less about Ami and Yu. Yu was a literal toddler at the time and his life had taken a turn for the uncomfortable. Ami had a little brother to feed. Maybe if the digital world could help them, it'd be different. But it couldn't.
Tsurugi just….played soccer and had adoration. It stung to see him surrounded by light and happiness and not doing anything for Norn.
But at least, Shou thinks, if he wasn't alone, Peckmon wouldn't have been murdered.
His V-pet crushed, his hopes dashed, everything gone.
Maybe Shou wouldn't have been alone.
But that was fine. He was fine. He could go on on his own. With Peckmon.
He was the best of them.
