87. A Far Off Letter

Taiga's phone beeps every now and again.

There's usually an impossible to find return email address, a few scrambled pictures, and a couple paragraphs asking how he's doing and about what she has been up to.

Taiga has to make it be enough, even though he doesn't want to.

It's been a long, long time since they met. He's older now. He's raised so many different digimon now.

Things have changed, but it doesn't feel like Mirei has.

But he keeps living. Until he sees her again, that's all he can do.

That's what he tells himself through the ache in his chest.

Taiga wishes he could believe it the way the others do.
