- Hey folks, how's it been? I know it's a little late but before we begin...I would like to give my respects to one of the greatest web animators, Monty Oum, who passed away on February 1 of this year. There isn't much I can say regarding this tragedy but at the very least...I can honour his memory in the way he'd wanted: by being creative as often as possible. Though I'm hardly a competent writer, I'll continue to write stories for as long as I'm able to. It's one of the few ways I'm able to do something creative at all.
Rest in Peace, Monty...you'll be missed tremendously.
- Now in regards to this update, it's just something I came up with in the middle of work and typed it as soon as I was able. My imagination's a little dead at the moment so I apologize if it isn't exactly good. When it comes to my next story...I'm sorry but it might be a while longer before it's released. I've got so much to deal with right now that I haven't been able to work on it at all so your continued patience is greatly appreciated.
- Setting all that aside, here's the next chapter and I hope you enjoy it.
...
"Hey Anya?"
"What's up?"
Hope looked at her fellow student with a curious glint in her green eyes. "Have you ever wondered what Spidey's face looks like under the mask?"
"Plenty of times..." The young Spider-Girl admitted with a small blush. "But there's a reason we wear masks. Our secret identities isn't something that we can reveal to just anyone."
Hope nodded in understanding. "I know...it's just funny to me that we both have a crush on Spider-Man and we don't even know what he looks like."
Anya straightened herself on the couch, a little surprised to hear her friend admit their mutual feelings for their beloved webslinging mentor so easily.
"W-What? You and I both like Spidey a lot." The redhaired mutant muttered, her cheeks coloured a bit like her hair.
"Y-yeah, I know. I didn't think you'd share what you felt for him with me though."
"...Well, you're one of my trusted best friends." She explained with a smile.
Spider-Girl was silent for a moment before her own smile appeared as she wrapped a friendly arm around Hope.
"And I trust you too...unless you told someone else about who I really am."
"Of course not!" Hope said, "I'm not going to do something like that behind your back."
Anya smirked with a hint of mirth. "I know you won't. Thank you."
"I'm always here for you." Hope sincerely answered.
The two teenage girls quickly shared a chuckle as they slumped back against the couch in the Symkarian Embassy's lounge room. They had already finished their training session with Spider-Man and Ms. Sablinova this morning. Now they were just waiting for their beloved mentors to finish showering and changing so they could join them for lunch.
"I'm really glad Ms. Sablinova and Spidey are our teachers." The red haired mutant said with a happy sigh.
Anya nodded in agreement. "Who better to train us in becoming the best superheroines than Spider-Man, the world's greatest superhero and Ms. Sablinova, the most beautiful but dangerous Queen we've ever met?"
Hope grinned. "Exactly what I was thinking except you know, less wordy."
"Shut up..." Her masked friend shoved her arm playfully, "Wordy isn't even a real word."
"Yes, it is."
"No, it's not."
Hope was about to argue back when an audible sigh was heard. Both girls turned around to look at the source and warmly smiled when they saw who it was.
"Amazing that you two can always find something to debate about." Peter mused with a grin, wearing a clean spare costume. His gloved hand was holding Sable's, who looked at her two young pupils with fond eyes.
As per their normal way of greeting, Anya and Hope hugged both of their beloved mentors hard.
Sable ruffled the mutant super heroine's red hair. "Our apologies for taking so long. There was something Spider-Man and I had to discuss in private."
"About what, Ms. Sablinova?" Hope asked the woman she considered a mother.
Peter held Sable close with his arm around her shoulders "Something of absolute importance...and I think Spider-Girl has a pretty good idea of what I'm going to talk about."
Anya blinked in confusion. "I do?"
"...Who we are beneath the masks isn't something we can reveal on a whim, right?" Spider-Man explained, his hand gently placed on top of Anya's soft hair.
"R-right." She and Hope couldn't believe it...was their beloved webslinging mentor really going to unmask in front of them now?
"But I trust the both of you..." Spidey continued, "and I believe it's time you and Hope learned who I am."
Anya and Hope looked to Sable with surprise and shock. "Does that mean-"
"It wasn't an easy decision." The Queen of Symkaria said, a tone of seriousness evident in her voice, "Anya, you know the risks of wearing a mask. You can understand why Spider-Man never revealed his face to you both before."
Spider-Girl nodded with a solemn look of understanding. There wasn't a day that passed where she didn't worry about someone discovering her secret identity...by accident or otherwise.
"But..you two have earned the right to knowing his secret identity." Sable's expression softened into a playful grin, "Believe me when I say seeing Spider-Man's face will more than justify your infatuations for him."
"Sable...I think you're making my looks to be more than it really is." Spider-Man replied, awkwardly shifting his feet.
The Queen of Symkaria pecked an affectionate kiss on Peter's masked cheek with a smile. "I don't believe I am. You're quite the handsome man, Peter."
"Peter?" Anya and Hope questioned at the same time.
"Well, here goes." Spider-Man's hand reached up and slowly pulled the webbed mask away from his head.
Hope's and Anya's cheeks quickly turned a rosy shade of red as they laid their eyes on the handsome fair skinned man before them. His light brown hair stood up in somewhat of a mess but it only added to his attractive allure.
The Queen of Symkaria chuckled at the flushed expressions of her two young pupils. Her beloved Peter was a very good looking man and while her heart did get envious whenever other women tried to flirt with him, Sable could hardly blame them for making the attempt.
"My name is Peter Parker. Pleased to make your acquaintance" He offered a friendly hand, his hazel eyes filled with a hint of goofy kindness.
Only one thought ran through Anya's and Hope's minds as they numbly shook his hand...
The Amazing Spider-Man aka Peter Parker was definitely the cutest guy they've ever seen and the two teenage superheroines couldn't wait for their next training session with him.
...
- I just finished reading the end of the Spider Verse arc in the Amazing Spider-Man and I've gotta say...I didn't like the way the rather one sided battle went between the Spiders and the Inheritors. So many versions of Spider-Man/Peter Parker killed off easily even though they were more than capable of putting up a better fight while the Inheritors suffered little to no casualties at all. It was a pyrrhic victory for mainstream Peter Parker...but a victory nonetheless.
- Gotta say, Marvel's doing a very good job of screwing with Peter Parker...again.
- Ah anyways, sorry about my little rant there. I'm under so much stress right now that I can't help but feel the need to vent sometimes whenever I see or read something so stupid. I hope you guys enjoyed this despite the poor quality of writing and when the time is right, a new story will come out soon. Until then, keep the reviews coming and thank you all again for sticking with me so far.
