- How's it going, people? Some time has passed since my last update. Things in life are somewhat busy and it's been that way for a while now.
- With that in mind, getting the time to write something wasn't easy but somehow I got this done...well, at least for this one. Not certain how fast I'll be able to write anything else but I'll see what I can do.
- Some folks have asked about when I'm planning to release a new story and the only answer is that it will happen...whether that be sooner or later is something that's yet to be determined. When it comes to releasing a new story, I get nervous because I'm a poor writer and with time being such a rare luxury, I don't want to be like one of those guys who starts something but then take years just to finish it.
- We'll see what happens...for now, I hope you enjoy this.
...
Taking a walk was a great way to pass the time. The simple activity had the soothing effect of taking away some stress and it was something Peter and Sable did together every so often. The weather being nice today didn't hurt either as they held each other's hands and strolled down the street.
Sable smiled when she saw Peter in such a carefree mood. It was good to see him in such good spirits...considering what he had to deal with on a daily basis. How the Amazing Spider-Man managed to stay sane despite the horrors he's seen before they met was something she wondered about on occasion.
"Uh...something on my face?"
"No, nothing like that." She said, leaning her head on his shoulder. "It's just nice to see you so relaxed."
Her boyfriend chuckled as his arm held her close. "How could I not be? Lovely day, no stress, and I'm walking with the most beautiful woman in the world at my side."
"...Flatterer." Sable muttered with her face blushing a little red.
Peter pecked his lips on her forehead. "I only speak the truth, milady."
She giggled at the feeling of his kiss on her skin as they entered the park. There weren't many people around this time of day so they were able to enjoy the walk at their own leisure. There wasn't any particular destination...they were just enjoying the fresh air before it would be time to go home.
Right when they were in the midst of their conversation regarding Hope and Anya, Peter's cellphone suddenly rang out.
"Who is it?"
"...It's Aunt May. I wonder what she wants?"
"I don't know. You should probably answer it though."
"Okay...I won't take long." Peter said before he stepped to the side and answered the phone.
Sable couldn't hear what they were talking about but judging from the way her boyfriend was sheepishly smiling, it didn't seem to be anything serious. Her best guess? May probably called to simply check on him. With Aunt May being such a kind hearted soul, it wouldn't surprise her if that was actually the case.
"...Tiger?"
The sudden voice calling out from behind made Sable snap out of her thoughts. She turned around and was surprised to see a pretty looking redheaded woman staring at Peter with her own expression of incredulity.
For some reason, the redhead seemed a little familiar to her though. "You a friend of his?"
"That's one way of putting it." The woman replied with a smirk. "The name's Mary Jane or M.J. for short."
Hearing that finally made it clear...this was the actress/supermodel who used to be Peter's girlfriend before she decided to get out of his life.
Perhaps Mary Jane's reasons for leaving may have been understandable but Sable didn't like the fact that this woman left Peter just so she didn't have to deal with him and his struggles anymore.
"...So you're Mary Jane Watson. He's told me a lot about you."
"Oh? All good things, I hope."
Sable looked to her beloved Peter, who was oblivious of his ex's presence. "Mostly...though there were some things about you that I didn't like."
Mary Jane raised an eyebrow. "...Such as?"
"Like how you left him because his life was apparently too troublesome for you." She said bluntly, not even bothering to hide the disdain in her voice.
The part time actress didn't respond immediately but her green eyes did glare at the silver haired woman.
"...So you know about Peter being Spider-Man." She slowly whispered, keeping her voice low so no one else could hear. "You think it's easy having to deal with such insanity in my life? I did my best but even I have limits as to what I can handle."
Sable glared back. "That's not an excuse. You of all people should understand his reasons for being a hero...if you really loved Peter, you never should've thought about leaving at all."
"Who the hell are you to be telling me this anyways?"
"My name is Silver Sablinova...I'm Peter's girlfriend." The former mercenary stated with all seriousness.
Mary Jane couldn't hide the dumbfounded look on her face...the gorgeous Queen of Symkaria was dating the Amazing Spider-Man? As shocking as it was to hear this though, she wasn't going to back down just yet.
"...I just want to have a normal life, okay? I wish I could've had that with Peter but it just wasn't possible with him being Spider-Man all the time. It always felt like being a hero was more important to him than our relationship!"
Mary Jane paused for a moment to catch her breath. "I-I just couldn't take it anymore."
Sable only shook her head in disbelief at what MJ was saying. Good thing no one else was around in the park at this time...it would've been awkward to have an audience paying attention to this.
"...I've been with Peter for over a year now and I have no complaints. Even with him being Spider-Man, we're still living a happy life together. You never truly believed in him, that was your problem."
M.J. fell silent. Was it really her doubts about Peter's commitment to their past relationship that drove them apart?
Sable only looked at her with a hint of pity. "How you could even leave such a loving man is beyond me. I promise you this though...I won't make the same mistake."
On the other side, Peter finally finished his call with Aunt May. It turned out she only wanted to check in on him and Sable. He couldn't blame her since some time had passed since they last spoke.
But when he made his way back, he quickly became confused. Why was his ex-girlfriend standing before Sable?
"Mary Jane? What are you doing here?"
Both ladies looked to see Peter with bewildered eyes. They weren't certain about how to explain their little heated confrontation with each other just now.
"Nice to see you too, Peter." M.J. decided to speak first. "Your new girlfriend and I were just having a few words."
"...Nothing's wrong, I hope."
His ex shook her head with a small laugh. "Of course not. It's good to hear you're doing well."
"Heh...being a supermodel and successful actress seems to be working out great for you." He responded politely.
"Always the nice guy, aren't you?" M.J. replied before she turned around to leave. "I'm glad you found someone like her, Tiger...treat her right."
Giving a quick nod to the Queen of Symkaria, the redhead walked away in the opposite direction. Sable and Peter simply watched her leave in silence, uncertain how to make of what just happened.
"What was that about?" He quietly asked.
"...I think she's just considering her past choices." She whispered, holding Peter's hand.
Nothing else was said for the moment as they turned the other way and resumed their walk. The former mercenary's mind was thinking about the words she just shared with the part-time supermodel. Even though the redhead's reasons for ditching her beloved's side were pretty ludicrous, she understood Mary Jane had every right to make that decision...albeit a wrong one in her opinion.
What Mary Jane chose in the past didn't matter much though to Sable...she would not make the same mistake as the actress did. No matter what might happen, her love for Peter will not falter.
...
- This one was okay, I think. I just went with a simple idea since nothing else was able to come to mind. I just wish it hadn't taken so long but I suppose being able to get it done at all is more than enough.
- All the same though, I hope you guys liked it. Till next time, folks.
