The Cartwrongs have this biiiiig ranch in an unamed state in the Old West. The father and his three sons are red-blooded males and the females in the environs know that. When a beautiful woman is rescued and brought to their "Ponderous Ranch" ranch house, things get a little heated. This is a one-shot story.

This is a collection of five vignettes that allow the reader to decide which Cartwright is the central character. You are free to picture your favorite Cartwright in each scenario or look for the nuances that might reveal each character's identity. This is the love story of Hoss and Laura Cartwright. She is the daughter of an old friend of Ben's and has the biggest crush on Hoss. They end up falling in with each other when she was young but sadly, she moved back to California with her father and sister. But now Laura is all grown up and excited to get back to the Ponderosa. There will be hints of actual episodes mixed in.

Adam finds that he does not always get to decide what is Marie's or Hoss's business in this short slice-of-life story.
