Chapter 3: New Life

I blinked awake and, heart pounding, stretched before leaping out of bed. I got dressed in record speed (the Beacon uniform was serviceable enough and I wanted to keep my outfit clean).

The first day of classes! Finally! The year was really getting kicked off with this!

Yesterday

Not long after I had just taken out all the Grimms I was bombarded with questions from future hunting groups, however I said I would give an explanation as soon as we were in a more suitable place and so we went to the academy where to meet us. There was the headmaster himself "Ozpin" he told me we would talk about where I was and what I was doing after the event. I knew what event he was talking about and in my opinion this is one of the best moments of the first volume and I was going to witness it firsthand, what more could I ask for?

"Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark, Russel Thrush, and Cardin Winchester," Ozpin's voice rang through the silent auditorium. "The four of you collected the black bishop pieces. From today onwards, you will work together, known as Team CRDL, led by… Cardin Winchester."

There was polite applause around the auditorium as the four boys nodded respectfully to Ozpin and left the stage. I was holding back from sending the whole team to hell with a nice middle finger pointing towards the boss, because I have a microscopic drop of respect for Cardin despite being a big asshole and a racist in respect of fauns, because he has good intentions and the goal that's what everyone here shares, and during the festival he has shown that he has a lot of courage in defending others, but for now it's better to avoid it because if he ever does something in my presence he will pay dearly for him and his team.

"Jaune Arc, Pyrrha Nikos, Lie Ren, and Nora Valkyrie," Ozpin continued. "You four collected the white rook pieces. From today onwards, you will work together, known as Team JNPR, led by… Jaune Arc."

Jaune looked like he'd been hit in the face with a ping pong paddle. "Wh-whuh? Me!?"

"Congratulations, young man," Ozpin smiled at the blond.

Jaune was so taken back by his new position as leader that a simple nudge on his shoulder from Pyrrha sent him toppling off the stage with a surprised "Wah!"

The profusely apologizing redhead hurried to help him back over to us.

I was happy about this time, i can't wait to be friend with them and the next one.

"Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and Yang Xiao Long," Ozpin's eyes danced across the four girls as they made their way up to the stage. "The four of you collected the white knight pieces. From today onwards, you will work together, known as Team RWBY, led by… Ruby Rose."

Weiss' shock was quite evident and the heiress spun to face Ruby with her jaw slack. Ruby's silver eyes were wide and she pointed at herself, unsure, before Yang wrapped her in a massive bearhug.

"Congrats, sis! You did it!" the blonde cheered.

"I… I guess I did?" the red reaper stammered as she made her way back over to us (or rather, as Yang made her way back over to us, still toting Ruby in her grip).

"Now students!" Ozpin spoke again and this confused the other students including myself. "I know that surely many of you will think the announcement of the teams is over, but I have been informed of a new addition at the last minute by a new student." This made the others even more confused than before and then thinking about it for a second I realized who he was talking about.

"Let me show you." he said stepping aside turning on the huge screen he had used to show the team line-ups.

After turning on the screen he showed a video of me fighting the Grimms near the tower along with Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon with the help of Team RWBY and JNPR, then showed another scene of me activating Negate Attack to escape the first Grimms I encountered. And the final video show me setting the Pendulum scale with Stargazer Magician and Timegazer Magician.

Then the screen went blank and Ozpin returned to the center of the stage.

"Now! Would Mr. Sakaki be so kind to come here?" He asked.

Right now I was feeling a lot of emotions at once, I was happy, scared, embarrassed, I didn't know how to describe it and I was also immobilized by these emotions, but then I felt like someone put my hands behind my shoulders and when I turned around I felt all my worries disappear and be replaced by courage, security and happiness. Behind me were slight projections of the two magicians holding my back as if to reassure me and then nodding their heads as if to say go and don't worry. Smiling and thanking them, I walked over to Ozpin and stood in front of him.

"You demonstrated extraordinary ability in times of overwhelming stress, the mentality of a great strategist for your age, trust in others and a spirit of sacrifice. Therefore, I hereby dub you Beacon Academy's very own Freelancer Huntsman-in-training. You will not have a team of your own, but will instead work with the other teams of the school whenever needed."

I nodded, allowing my smile to spread across my face. "It's an honor, sir."

After that there was a lot of applause, cheering and even someone who did not agree with his decision but did not feel well. After this event Ozpin walked over to me and whispered in my ear to introduce me to his office so he could chat for a while.

Accepting him followed up to the elevator where he then took us to the office and also Professor Glynda Goodwitch was waiting for us with her usual intimidating look to make everyone scared and seen live it was more effect than seen from the book and the screen of the TV.

"I hope that you realize that your actionswill not be taken lightly, young man. You put yourself and others in great danger." She said and if she think this words will work on me, well the answer is no.

"If it were up to me, you'd be sent home... with a pat on the back and a slap on the wrist." She continued but i didn't care too much.

"Besides, you're too young to go to this school." She said calming down a bit.

On hearing that sentence I had the feeling that someone had shot an arrow at my heart with too young written on it, in fact I went white and my expression turned into pure shock. I couldn't help it if fate decided to reincarnate in the body of a 14-year-old boy with tomato-colored hair and a fixation on making everyone smile.

"Glynda please, don't hurt the boy's feelings." Ozpin said as he sipped his cup. "Plus I've already named him a Freelance Huntsmam-in-training so we have no choice but to accept him." hearing these words made me feel slightly better.

"I believe I forgot to introduce myself to you, where are my manners? I am Professor Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon Academy. And she is Professor Glynda Goodwitch as she is the combat teacher and my second in command at Beacon."

"Pleased to meet you, Professor Ozpin and Professor Witch."

"Pay back!" laughing inside me.

On hearing it Ozpin choked slightly and gave me a look that told me to run for my life, I looked towards Goodwitch and in that moment i understood everything.

A black aura formed around her, and he held her whip with a firm grip and a huge smile appeared on her face.

"Excuse me? What did you call me? I think I didn't hear right." he said she quietly as he slammed the whip violently on her hand.

"Holy shit!" I mentally shouted at myself.

"I don't think Yuya's head is very hard because I remember that every time Yuzu hit him with her paper fan (which still today we don't know where she keeps it) she brought out a lot of bumps. But this is a huntswoman, and she has a more lethal weapon in his hand and he won't even hesitate to not show mercy in front of me! I have to find a solution quickly! " I thought.

"I said Goodwitch! I said Goodwitch!" I said in fear.

"Glynda, let the boy live for now, he can be a very useful resource." she said trying to calm her down.

"Fine!" she said calming down as she gave me a look that seemed to say I'll kill you.

"May Ra bless you Ozpin!" I said to myself as I cried with happiness.

"Well, Mr. Sakaki, can you tell us how he came across the initiation course?" she asked me.

I had to come up with a credible excuse because the real one would make it all too absurd. Thinking about it for a few seconds I had a stroke of genius and now I just had to hope that they would believe it.

"I don't know, the last thing I remember is that I was going to duel against someone important who would have marked my career as a duelist and then suddenly I find myself in a forest with creatures that looked like black wolves with red eyes. " I said pretending confusion and fear.

"You mean the Grimms?" Ozpin asked.

"Grimms?" I said looking confused.

"Creatures of destruction" who lack a soul; therefore, I am unable to use the Aura. They are also drawn to feelings of negativity - such as envy, sadness, loneliness and hatred - which often congregate towards the source of these emotions. Goodwitch explained.

"I'm sorry, but it doesn't tell me anything." I pretended thinking.

"Do you know what the Aura is and what a Semblance is?" Ozpin asked.

"No." I answered shaking my head.

"The Semblance is the manifestation of one's innate and personal power as a unique skill for each individual, with the effects that vary greatly from user to user." he explained and I nodded.

"And the Aura is a skill that anyone who has a soul can use. It is the manifestation of the soul."

"Clear!" I replied

"Well Mr. Sakaki I think that's enough for today with the questions, she has already answered almost everything we needed to know, give me time to get the registration forms and then Professor Goodwitch will accompany you to her dormitory." she said as she took the papers.

"Do I have my own dormitory?" I asked surprised and happy as I signed.

"Yes, he'll also need this to get in." she handed me a scroll.

"A scroll?" I said confused as inside I was screaming with happiness.

"You'll need it to move in here." he said as he went near the elevator pressing the screen to open the doors

"I'll treasure it!" I said as Goodwitch and I entered the elevator.

"Goodbye, Mr. Sakaki and good evening!" he said as the doors closed.

"You too." I replied.

As we went down I could feel Glynda Goodwitch's gaze on me from earlier.

"You and I are not going to get along very well are we?" I asked slightly nervous.

"On this, however, we are." she replied with a bit of hatred.

"If the Grimms don't kill me first, surely she will." I told myself.

Time skip brought by Chibi Goodwitch taking Chibi me to my dorm

I still could not believe it: 1) I managed to enter the beacon. 2) I am legally a student. 3) I have my own dorm that I can customize as I please. 4) They believed my story and now I have one more reason to attend this school. Even if the school school on earth was a bore and I did almost nothing, here I have the opportunity to have fun and really fight. But then I remembered to do something a duelist did when he passed his Dueling Academy entrance exam. I took my deck and started talking.

After finishing the talk, I put the deck on the desk near the window and then explored the room to understand what the structure was like and what changes to make, but there was one thing I needed to do first, find the bathroom so I could wash myself because I was starting to smell badly and besides I needed some rest from everything that happened today, I had to organize my new life here, but this problem took precedence together with the other one to go and buy new clothes to change a bit'.

Present

I just finished looking in the mirror and I wasn't sick, it made me look more mature even if the only flaw was the hair color but that's okay, I resumed the deck and the duel disk that I had placed on the desk and went out the door .

"Well, as for tradition ..." I said then putting a happy face.

"I'm ready to swing into action !!!" I said going to the cafeteria.
