Lucy eyed him curiously from across the room, seeing how this wasn't the first time she was looking at him but it was the first time looking at him like this.
She could see how perfectly shaped his eyebrows were in contrast to his perfectly pushed back hair. The usual spiky mess that laid on top of his head was slicked back with gel to give his face a better chance to be stared at. She didn't even know he had piercings as his hair has always been everywhere and to see he had his lobes pierced with his right ear cartilage holding a cufflink, it made her feel even more bitter about this man.
Strong jawlines and high cheekbones. Tan skin and rippling muscles that moved with him. Button up that continues to have the first two unbuttoned and a nice Italian blazer stacked on top of him.
He was devastatingly handsome and it made her want to throw up. Or maybe shoot herself in the head. Maybe even him.
It was the night of their engagement party and while it took a lot to gather up their family along with hers to the idea of being together in the same vicinity, it's been somewhat going well enough for nobody to open fire.
Granted, she's been kind of been a wallflower the entire night and glaring at her fiance who was more of a social butterfly than she realized. And she wasn't the only one glaring since everyone had that menacing aura to them, waiting for someone to open fire first.
But there have been very strict rules on starting anything and if anyone were to step out of line, they were to be shot and executed on the spot.
This engagement party was a big thing and nobody needed to get in the way for such a joyous occasion.
Even when the bride is obviously fuming and not enjoying herself.
And with the groom being the smug bastard he was, still limping but not as bad, she knew things wouldn't go so smoothly.
"Can you trust any of these motherfuckers?" Gray whispered, eyes darting around to keep watch. "My hand hasn't left my gun since the party started."
"Relax, Gray, would you? This is an engagement party." Levy scoffed, waving off the man who narrowed his eyes at her. "We're supposed to be celebrating the bride and groom! Lucy looks completely fine."
They turned to look at the flat faced don and Lucy raised an unimpressed eyebrow at them.
"See? Absolutely stunning and radiant as always."
"That, she is."
The trio turned to see the Tartaros don standing over them, one hand shoved into his pocket while his other carried a glass of dark liquor.
"Mind if we talk, my lady?" He offered a cheeky grin and she rolled her eyes, letting out a large sigh. "Please, don't get too excited on my account."
"Shut the fuck up," Lucy muttered under her breath, grabbing at her wine glass before shoulder checking him on the way. "Come now. We can talk outside."
The clicks of her heels echoed in the large place and she didn't have to turn around to know Natsu was right behind her. He always had this aura about him that was so overwhelmingly hot and powerful. His body heat was like a furnace and she could see why he was nicknamed salamander with his fascination with fire and resilient nature. That, and his warming body that she couldn't seem to shake out of her head no matter how long it's been.
Once the two had stepped outside to the balcony, the few that were standing around instantly scattered. Having not just one but two dons together screamed trouble and knowing how bitter Lucy looked, they didn't want to get on her bad side.
Especially since rumors have been going around about how she had shot Natsu Dragneel in the leg and survived to tell the tale.
"What is it that you wanted to talk about?" She went right to the point, setting down her wine glass on the ledge of the railing.
"I just wanted to get to know my wife-to-be." He shrugged nonchalantly and she turned to look at him in surprise. "Considering just next week you will be my wife, I figured we should talk."
"Great. Let's set some ground rules, then." Lucy said as he opened his mouth to respond but she didn't allow him to. She started to hold out her hand, linking her finger against one to start counting down the rules. "One, you and I will play the part out in public and where there are eyes and ears. I'll play the happy loving wife but behind closed doors I am not going to be."
Natsu snorted but didn't elaborate, silently watching and allowing her to carry on.
"Two, we are not going to be sleeping in the same bed or sleeping together at all for that matter."
"How do you expect to have heirs?"
"What?" She practically spat, looking at him in bewilderment.
"Heirs? You know, children?"
"I know what heirs are," she snapped, cheeks flushing slightly. "And why the hell do we have to have an heir?"
"Do I really need to explain that one to you, Luce?"
"Stop calling me that." She hissed and he smirked at the way she growled at him. "I am not having sex with you."
"You will." He said confidently, taking a sip from his drink while her face glowed red.
"I will not! I hate you!"
"Then we can hate-fuck."
Lucy sputtered, reeling back as she gawked at the man in front of her. A million things were going through her mind but the main thing that had her pinned to the spot and looking at this man as if he sprouted two horns and a tail was the fact he was so confident in the idea that they would have sex.
As much as she did want to have sex with him too, she couldn't let herself succumb to the temptation and pressure.
Natsu Dragneel was not one to just casually have around and expect sunshine and rainbows. He was a dangerous man with a lethal combination of evil and looks. She could not get involved with him more than she already was and to think about having sex with someone like him… goddess save them all.
"You're a pig."
"I've been called worse," he shrugged and he set down his glass beside hers and turned to face her, one hand leaning against the railing while his dark eyes pinned on her. "Now, shall we actually discuss serious matters or are you still throwing a tantrum?"
"I'll fucking kill you, Dragneel."
"I'd like to see you try." A smirk came to his face and Lucy glared at him.
"Don't forget who put that bullet in your leg just last week."
"How could I forget?" He looked down to peek at his thigh before looking back up at her scowling face. "My wife put that inside of me."
"I am not your wife," she growled through clenched teeth and it only made him grin. "You're such a fucking asshole." She huffed, turning her head to cross her arms across her chest. "All you want to do is just fuck around with me. I don't even understand why you picked me out of anyone else to marry. The alliance would have still been the same."
The way his fingers brushed across her face and grabbed at her chin to twist it to face him sent tingles down her back in a wake of fire. His eyes were dark and intense as they bore right into hers and she moved her hand back to slide it over her gun that was tucked away, waiting to see if he was going to pull something on her.
"I don't think you quite understand, Luce," he purred at her and she could feel the tips of her ears burning. "The alliance is what is important, yes, and while that is my main intention to bring together our families, who is to be a better bride for me than the don herself?" His fingertips lightly caressed her jaw and she willed herself not to shiver. "I have always been quite enchanted by you."
Her heart was racing inside of her chest and the hot sting of her cheeks growing rosy red made her scowl harder. She twisted out of his grasp and grabbed at her wine glass, taking a step away from him before she downed the entire thing.
"I am my own person, Natsu, and I will not be controlled by anyone. Especially from someone like you."
"Who says I want to control you?" He asked softly and she kept her eyes away from his figure as she glared at the lowering sun. "I want a wife, not a slave."
"I can't be the wife you want."
"You don't even know what kind of wife I want," he said with a hint of amusement lingering behind his words. "That's why I asked you to talk. We should get to know each other." He came closer beside her, his front brushing against her backside as her body stiffened. "After all, you are going to be my wife in a week." He whispered into her ear and the goosebumps rushed down her body.
She shivered and reeled away from him, turning back to see him giving her an innocent smile but it merely made her narrow her eyes at him.
"Fine." She huffed and crossed her arms across her chest. "When's your birthday?"
"July seventh. What's your favorite color?"
"Pink and blue. Are you allergic to anything?"
"Nothing but I do enjoy spicy foods."
Lucy didn't know why she was taking a mental note of that as if she was going to make him a nice home cooked meal. Fuck him! He doesn't deserve that.
"Any pets growing up?"
"A white dog named Plue. You?"
"A blue cat named Happy." He was grinning at her and she didn't know why it made her stomach flutter. She glared at their shoes and cursed him inside of her head for being so adorable and even having a cat named Happy of all things. Why is he so freaking cute and attractive? She wanted to bang her head against the wall till she bled out.
"Any tattoos or piercings?"
"Besides my ears, none. How many do you have?"
"Four piercings and two tattoos." He confirmed and Lucy eyed him suspiciously, looking at him up and down. The tattoos she can't confirm if they were real or not considering she hasn't seen this man without clothes (and she will not be ever) but the piercings were obvious. His lobes were pierced and with his cartilage that equaled to three.
That was one of the things she had first noticed about him tonight with his hair slicked back. Three piercings and an incredibly attractive face. So where could the fourth one be?
"I can hear your brain thinking," he said with a tinge of amusement in his voice.
"Well, because I can clearly see only three."
"You don't even know where it is, but you want to see it?"
"Sure... why not?" She continued to watch him curiously with a hint of skepticism.
He smirked at her and began to reach for his belt buckle making her eyes practically bulge out of her socket.
"Wait! No! I don't want to see it!" She shrieked, entire face blooming in color as she held her hands up to cover her sight.
The way he started to laugh had her flushing deeper and she lowered her hands to glare at him. "Asshole! You were just saying that so you can flash me your dick!"
"Oh, am I?" He drawled, an eyebrow raised. "Care to test out that theory?"
"No!"
"My, my, is the great Lucy Heartfillia blushing at the thought of me taking my pants off?" He teased and the blush was crawling down her neck.
"Shut your mouth!"
"Could it be that you're a virgin?"
Feeling the anger bubble inside of her chest, Lucy grabbed for the dagger between her breasts and shoved him against the railing to hold it against his thick neck. She could hear the clicks of metal echoing behind her and she knew that his men were the one to point their guns at her but she also knew her own were doing the same with them.
Natsu didn't seem bothered at all that he had a knife to his neck as he looked down at her with a bored expression, his eyes lazily dragged behind her to take in the sight.
A small smirk pulled up to his lips and his eyes dropped down to her furious ones.
"Look at what you started, baby," he said with a slight chuckle. "Now everyone has their toys out."
"Give me one reason why I shouldn't fucking put this knife through your neck." She hissed, shoving herself harder against his body.
He raised his hands up to show everyone he was the one at her mercy and did not have any intentions of doing anything.
"No need to get so frazzled about a question, there's nothing wrong with being a virgin."
She opened her mouth for yet another string of curses to come out but she stopped as she felt a hand clamp down on her shoulder. She turned to see Laxus giving her a stern look before his eyes pinned on the don to give him a distasteful expression.
"There are too many people here who already harbor ill feelings towards one another. We do not need you two doing this."
"She's the one with the knife to my neck." Natsu said casually, making Lucy snap her neck to her and growl.
"Because you're such an insufferable—"
"Save this for the bedroom," Laxus cut her off. "Call off your men."
Natsu simply flicked his wrist and the guns were lowered, death glares and sneers being exchanged with Fairy Tail in the process. Fairy Tail gave them back the same energy, baring their teeth and sending threatening glare with their own weapons lowered.
Lucy clicked her tongue in disapproval and backed away from the rosy-haired don, lowering her own weapon. "You're lucky we have an audience."
"Can't wait to see what you'll do to me without one." He purred her way and she merely gave him a death glare before turning to storm away.
"I hope you die, asshole!"
"I love you, too, baby!" He called back out with laughter tinkering between his words and Lucy could only duck her head down and blush furiously.
She definitely was going to plot his murder and kill him one of these days.
Hopefully before he does.
