When Natsu was young, he never really thought his occupation would be: mafia don. If he had to write up a resume right now, he wouldn't have squat shit in there that could get him a decent job. He was thrown into this life forcibly and against his will (thanks dad) and while there could be worse things in the world, he definitely wasn't high up on the "dream occupations" or "ideal occupations" on any list by any means.
That didn't mean he didn't enjoy his job but sometimes he wondered how much easier life would be if he didn't have hundreds of men, if not thousands wanting to put a bullet through his head.
His wife-to-be is one of those people and considering he was about to be living and sleeping next to her (he did not give a shit if she said no, they will be sharing a bed) he now had to think about his security measures. He was eighty percent sure she wouldn't put a bullet through his head. Anywhere else though? He wasn't so sure. His leg still fucking hurt.
Truthfully, being in this gig wasn't all too bad. He was filthy fucking rich, had an army of men at his command, and not to mention how powerful he was. His father, the previous don, was a notorious man who was a less forgiving man than he is.
Granted, the man killed people for a living, he was a scary man but he was a no bullshit kind of man. Fierce. Strong. Powerful. But he was also very loving and nurturing which is why he still had mad respect and love for the very man.
Everything Natsu hoped to be as his dear papa (may he rest in peace) taught him everything there is to being the don this organization needs. And to be fair, he shouldn't have seen or heard half the shit he did when he was just a kid but it really helped him grow into the underworld.
He watched his father kill someone right in front of him before and while it was a complete accident—
"You fuckin' asshole. Just had to make my kid see this shit this early, eh? I'll fucking turn you all to ash!"
—it helped him become immune to most things now. He's seen and done it all. Nothing he hasn't done but now that he had climbed the ladder of command, he didn't have to be the one to dirty his hands. He wasn't a big fan of doing that, anyways. Only when necessary. Which is pretty much ninety nine percent of the time.
Tartaros has always been a powerful organization. They have been since his grandfather washed ashore many years back and started his business of selling whatever narcotics and weapons he could get his hands on. Thanks to him, they got into the line of war and drug and had accumulated enough millions to last them generations.
With Tartaros being the powerful force it is, it also meant they had plenty of enemies. One of their biggest rivals happened to be Fairy Tail and it was merely through beef through father and son from decades ago. And it didn't grow worse till recently where they had that shootout where both their men had died.
In all honesty, he had been trying to find a way to squash this ancient beef that did not pertain to either dons anymore. While blood runs thicker, mishaps happen to be embedded into their skin for generations for the sake of the family.
But he also knew with recent events, their numbers are slowly declining and so are his. They were so close to territory that he could see and lowkey monitor her men if needed. He didn't do it in a malicious way but he definitely did it to have leverage if he needed to. Fairy Tail were powerful, if not more, and they were not a force to reckon with. They have been in bloodbath after bloodbath and he had to take care of these matters before they both plummeted.
Truth be told, his alliance with Fairy Tail was for selfish reasons. He wanted to take over their organization as well help bring up Tartaros in a way they could change history. Conjoining two powerful rich families will allow new doors to open and for more recruits to want to come and pledge their loyalty to either organizations. They would surely be an army that nobody would fuck with.
That, and the beautiful fierce don that happened to be Lucy Heartfillia.
He's always had his eye on her. Even when she wasn't the don of the organization and such a beautiful bubbly blonde who spent her days going to brunch and shopping during her younger years.
While she wasn't forced into this life as fast as he was, she was still on the same boat as him and he would be damned if he couldn't secure such a big profit. She would help lead him into victory and with the massive load he was expecting in a month's time, he would need all the hands he could get.
Fairy Tail was capable of more than one thing and that was definitely their overwhelming strength and loyalty. There's been too much talk going around about how other organizations plan to overthrow their plans and take their shipment off their hands if needed and knowing how Jose and his men worked, he knew they would play dirty. Dirtier than he would.
And like he's mentioned before, his numbers have declined significantly over the last decade which meant he needed Fairy Tail as much as they probably needed him.
It was hard to be a don at such an early age. He didn't know Lucy's story but being a young don in the underworld meant they didn't get half the respect that was expected. More so from other organizations as they claim they don't do business with 'a bunch of kids' but he showed them right then and there how he's not just a 'kid' but a man who meant business. This also included some of his men and while it felt wrong to blow the brains out of his own members, it was either him or them.
He was the fucking head of the family now and whoever is to go against that would have to answer to his gun barrel.
So fucking what if he was only eighteen at the time, he was the don.
Which is also why he waited till he was old enough and man enough for a woman such as his wife-to-be. He was about to be twenty five in a couple of months and if he remembered correctly, his lovely fiance was also the same age as him, just a couple weeks apart.
He needed time and experience to handle such a delicate timebomb like herself. He's met her on occasion throughout the years and every time they met he found himself more and more intrigued with her. Granted, she didn't seem happy every time they conversed and normally stormed away by the end, he still enjoyed every moment spent with her.
Which is why he was also alright taking her as a wife because he was sure he could handle her.
Or so he thought because this damn woman put a fucking bullet in his leg without hesitation. Sure, he might have expected from anyone else but they were leaving on a good note. Maybe he shouldn't have pointed the gun at her first. Bad joke.
His leg throbbed which made him wince slightly but he only knew that was the side effects since it wasn't even a month old. But this little thing wasn't going to stop him from getting the job done and right now, his job was to walk down the aisle and marry the Heartfillia princess.
Something he'd gladly do and has been waiting to do.
Ever since he heard talk that Zero from Oracion Sech was planning on proposing to the Heartfillia heiress to conjoin organizations, he knew he had to jump into action.
Not to get it confused but Lucy was his. Doesn't matter about the logistics of it and if she's aware or not but he's already stamped his claim on her since day one. And he would be fucking pissed if someone tried to snag her away like that. She was and will always be his. His queen.
Smoothing down the front of his shirt and tie, Natsu looked into his reflection in the mirror. His rosy locks were brushed back instead of his usual mess, a stunning three piece ivory suit clad on his muscular body. Today was finally here. His fateful wedding day where everyone will know that Lucy Heartfillia was his and his only.
She's delusional if she thinks they were going to just 'play the part' as if he was some actor starring in a movie. She was to be his wife and he her husband so that's what the hell they're going to be.
At least she wasn't picking a fight about everything. She must see how dire the situation is for her to even make it to the wedding day after putting a bullet to his leg and then a knife to his neck.
But oh man is it fun to see her pout and throw a hissy fit. Her temper tantrums definitely was a cute attribute about her but he'll have to train her to tone it down so she really doesn't keep putting bullets in him or slice him open.
With a knock on the door, it opened for his cousin and right hand man (as much as he didn't want to believe it) come through. His scowl was still plastered on his pierced face like it was permanent, his long locks tied back for once. "We're ready for ya."
Natsu nodded his head, fixing his scarf around his neck before turning to face his cousin. "Let's get me hitched."
—X—
The entire ceremony, Natsu could only focus on his bride. She was stunning in her dress, the simple yet elegant material hugging every curve of her body leaving no room for his imagination. Her beautiful golden locks tied into a low bun with strands of hair curled around her pale face. She was gorgeous and everything he could imagine. All he could think about was peeling this dress off of her and kissing every inch of that smooth milky skin hers.
His cock swelled inside of his pants at the thought and he kept his hand in front of him to cover it.
While he spent the majority of his time peeking at her and thinking about the absolute dirtiest shit, he could see how she kept her lips pressed into a tight line and how hard she was gripping her bouquet.
She was clearly uneasy about the entire thing and he understood. Arranged marriages were always hard, especially when it came to the underworld, but he truly would love her accordingly.
He didn't know what type of wife she thought he was expecting from her but Natsu wasn't the type to mistreat them because of their gender. He believed women were as powerful as men and Lucy was more than capable than some of his men. She was fierce and powerful, radiating brilliance and authority all at once. Lucy would have much say in things as he does and he hoped they would come together in a partnership.
He just had to earn her trust and show her how good of a life he could provide for her. For them. For their future children.
Having the pastor call forth the ring bearers, Natsu was surprised to see he had dozed off during the entire thing. He slowly turned to to face his bride who did the same, the same scowl on her face. His lips twitched in amusement but he kept a straight face, reaching for her wedding band that was presented to him. He held his palm out for her to place one gloved hand on top, chocolate eyes pinned on his dark ones.
Slipping the ring onto her finger felt natural, the beautiful shimmering jewelry fitting perfectly. Afterwards, they switched hands, having her slip on a similar golden band on his finger.
Now that's over, the part he's been waiting for has now come.
"You may now kiss the bride."
The way she tried her best not to scrunch her face up in distaste almost made him laugh. Using his left hand to cup her face, his other slipped around her tiny waist to bring her flush against his body. A smirk spreads across his lips as he leaned in, their noses brushing against each other.
"You are stunning, Mrs. Dragneel."
"Just kiss me already."
"Eager now, are we?"
"Fuck yo—" He cut her off with a smothering kiss, his lips pressing against her full ones.
The kiss was electrifying, sending tingles down his spine and leaving him feeling warm. It spread across his body as if he was dipped in lava, the hairs on his neck standing just by the feel of her soft lips against his.
She eventually melted into his arms, the stiffness in her body leaving in a rush and he was pleased to have her wrap her arms around his shoulders and apply pressure back.
She was so soft and so plush against his body. He engraved the feeling of her body against his since the day he had her pinned against his wall and sofa. It made him incredibly hard and he almost lost control with how aroused she was growing from him alone but as the good businessman he was, he allowed himself to get his point across first.
Besides, he knew he was due to marry her soon so he could wait off on doing anything racy.
His tongue slid across her plump lip and he tasted the strawberry flavoring. She parted her lips for him and he didn't hesitate to explore, tasting her sweetness and claiming her as his in front of everyone.
Mine. Mine. Mine.
When they pulled away, the cheers were drowned out by the way they stared at one another. Her pale cheeks were tinted pink, giving her such an adorable look. The way her eyes had glassed over left her looking more aroused, swollen lips pushing into a pout.
"You taste divine, wife."
"And you are still insufferable, husband."
—X—
Lucy was a pretty good actor.
No wonder she wanted to play the part because she was good at it. No, not just good. Excellent. She was the perfect fucking bride and loving newlywed that it not only surprised him but those around.
After the ceremony was over and the two had walked back down the aisle, Natsu had to tell her she had to relax her face a bit. She was lucky they had their backs to everyone for the majority of it and hopefully there won't be any photos of her scrunching her face up at him but there were going to be and are important people in attendance. Not to mention the group of photographers that were capturing every single moment.
Neither one of them mentioned the electrifying passionate kiss but his little speech was enough for Lucy to snap into action.
She had clung onto his arm the entire night, rightfully giggling and smiling at those he introduced her to and so forth. They posed for the cameras and danced a couple of times, too, embracing one another in a way that was so intimate, it would be a surprise to anyone to hear they did not harbor any romantic feelings for one another. Granted, Natsu did it more so he could quite literally show the rest of the world that she was his and he wasn't going to allow anyone to touch or get near her. He was a possessive man and he would be damned if anyone touched his precious wife.
Swaying to the soft tunes of the music, Natsu gave a soft smile to his wife who peered up at him through her lashes. One hand held the small of her back, pressing her against his chest as his other held her delicate palm. They swayed back and forth on the dance floor as others watched and got their photo taken.
"Is it what you always dreamt of as a kid?" He asked, twirling her around gently before bringing her back against his body.
"Why, yes it is. I always dreamt about being forced into a marriage with a coincided dick like yourself," she plastered a sweet smile to her face as a flash flickered over by the corner.
Natsu chuckled, placing her palm on his shoulder to bring his other hand down to her waist. "Well, I'm glad I could make your dreams come true."
"You're just doing this for selfish reasons, anyway."
"As opposed to your reasons?"
The way she stayed silent confirmed it for him and he hummed while dipping her, her back arching against his arm while he held her up before she came back around and pressed herself against him.
"I just want you to be happy."
"Why do you care?"
"Why wouldn't I care for my wife?" He purred, bringing his hand to brush his knuckles against her cheek and he watched how they began to bloom in color. "You are absolutely gorgeous."
"How romantic. You really do play the part perfectly," she scoffed while Natsu had twirled her in place again, the skirt of her dress proofing up into an elegant circle. "And you said you're not much of an actor."
"I'm not." He replied truthfully, his hand grasping hers while they separated arms length away. The music had slowly come to an end, the last few melodies playing beautifully. But Natsu couldn't hear it as his eyes stayed on his wife's and his hand burned with the touch of hers, their fingers still touching and lingering up in the air. "I really do think you're the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes on."
The way her face grew crimson had pride swelling inside of his chest and as he slowly let her hand go, he could only produce a genuine smile, his head tilting to the side while he took in her glowing face.
"I would never lie to you, Lucy."
He could see his words surprised her as her eyebrows raised and eyes rounded out. She stood there staring at him for a moment, seemingly gawking till he decided it was time for him to go and he turned and walked away.
—X—
By the time the night had come to an end, nobody had hurt one another and no guns had gone off making it successful. The reception was going strong with many patrons drunk and continuing to party but Natsu could see how tired his wife looked. The way her eyes drooped and how she yawned occasionally caught his attention and even with the couple of drinks she was pouring down her throat, he knew she wasn't dumb enough to get obliterated at her own wedding day with hundreds of people waiting for her to put her guard down.
He felt the gun that was strapped to her earlier and he would be a fool to think she didn't have her trusty dagger between her large breasts. It wasn't easy avoiding death and injuries so to be prepared at all times was the motto.
Coming up behind her to place a hand on the small of her back, he grabbed her arm that jerked back to try and elbow him. "It's just me." He whispered into her ear, giving her bicep a small squeeze to reassure her he wasn't an assassin.
"I know." She said, her back still facing him.
His lips curled into a smile and he leaned over her shoulder, seeing how she was frowning at him but her cheeks were still a rosy hue.
"Would you like to head home? You look tired."
"I guess I am ready to leave," she let out a sigh, pulling herself away from his grasp to turn and face him. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow?" His brows furrowed, looking down at her with a frown. "What are you talking about? You're coming back to my penthouse with me tonight."
"What? Why?"
"Because it's our wedding night."
"I'm not sleeping with you."
"Whatever," he brushed her off, not wanting to get into this at the moment. "But you're coming home with me. It's your new place. Our place."
"But I don't have any of my stuff—"
"Your things were moved this morning during our ceremony." He stated and he watched how her face scrunched up in confusion. "Come on. Let's go home." He held his hand out for her and he waited, watching how she stared at his hand. He could see her turmoil but he was a patient man and if he was going to earn her trust, he had to start small.
Eventually, she relented and placed her palm in his open one and he gave her a smile, holding onto her hand tightly. She gave him a squeeze back but didn't return the smile, a small grimace on her face while she followed him out.
His car was parked right outside the estates and while he had terrible motion sickness, behind the wheel, he was a pro.
He didn't understand it either but as long as he was still able to drive and get from one place to another without feeling like death itself, he'll take what little he could get.
His bride was still as beautiful as she was when he first laid eyes on her and he was in awe with her as he helped her into the car. The long train of her gown dragged behind her making the ends a bit dirty but she was still a beauty in ivory, tucking herself into his vehicle as he gently closed the door behind her.
The car ride was silent as they listened to soft tunes from the radio. He was drained as much as she probably was. It's been a long day and even longer weeks coming up to today but it is finally over.
Lucy had dozed off sometime during the car ride. When he looked over at her when he arrived, she was sleeping soundly beside him with her head leaning against the window and her chest rising and falling.
He couldn't help but just sit there and stare at her for a bit. She looked so peaceful and so relaxed when she was sleeping—a completely different demeanor he was certainly not used to. His new wife was a spitfire who could and would put a bullet through you but seeing her in this new light, she actually seemed delicate for once. Like a little flower that could wilt without the simplest things and someone who could crumble at the slightest inconvenience.
But he knew Lucy better than that. She's strong and determined and more than capable of taking care of herself and her people. Someone who cared with a heart full of gold and someone who knew when to put their foot down.
He knew what happened to her family and how she got into power. Not the most ideal but definitely something she probably wasn't already expecting since she was a mafia princess.
He just wanted to take care of her. Provide for her. Protect her. Love her. In all the ways where she lacked or is lacking because he truly does care for her. And of course if he just told her that she would call his bluff and try to put a bullet in him again. He just wants to know why she was so wary of him. He only had good intentions.
Well, not entirely because he wanted to do some disrespectful dirty shit to her and he certainly was not a gentleman in any aspect but he had good intentions for her. For them.
His lips still tingled at the memory of their shared kiss and the warmth spread through him once again, his hand coming up to brush against her cheek. The softness and warmth of it sent a rush down his spine and he really just wanted to lean in and steal her lips once again.
He was caught by surprise when Lucy's hand came up and grabbed at his wrist, holding it in a tight grip where her eyes flew open. She looked wary at first till she realized where she was and who she was with and eventually dropped his hand.
"Sorry. Force of habit."
"No need to apologize. Rather have you prepared than get caught off guard." Natsu smiled.
Her cheeks flushed that pretty pink once again and he got himself unbuckled to get out of the car, seeing how his bride was doing the same. She seemed dazed, sleepy and sated in the way she was too cute for her own good. He reached for her hand but she was quick to pull it away from him, an adorable embarrassed scowl decorating her face.
"What? I can't hold my wife's hand?"
"No." She said, walking ahead of him to get to the elevators. Amusement painted his face but he said nothing about it, even on the way up. He'll cut her some slack today. She did great and they were both exhausted from the event.
He hasn't used this penthouse in a long time. He was living in a smaller apartment on the outskirts of his borders since it was closer but he felt like this place could be a fresh start for not only him but for his wife as well. He purposely got rid of the extra bed in the spare room so Lucy didn't have any ideas of wanting to have separate rooms but he knew she would still try to pick a fight with him.
"I thought I made it clear that we're not going to be sharing a room." The blonde hissed at him as they now stood in the furnished bedroom, a large king bed pressed against the wall with a flat screen television mounted on the wall. A large dresser was pressed against the wall adjacent to the television. The room was spacious but lacked personality.
"You don't want to share a room with your husband?" He asked while he started to take his clothes off, his ivory blazer tossed onto the mattress.
"Husband only by paper." She reminded him and he rolled his eyes. "I'm going to sleep on the couch."
"Lucy," he said in exasperation. "Just sleep here tonight. It's a king bed. We have plenty of room. The couch isn't comfortable." He tugged on his tie, loosening up the fabric before unbuttoning his shirt. The buttons on his wrist were popped open, giving him more room to move around and keeping the restrictions at bay. He hated wearing suits that required ties and being in this monkey suit all day wasn't very ideal either.
Looking over to see his new wife standing there with her bottom lip sucked between her teeth, she looked conflicted at her decision. Her eyes were darting from the bed back to him.
"Don't worry sweetheart, we're not fucking tonight."
"Ever."
"Just get in bed. I'll grab you a t-shirt or something to wear." He left to go into the bathroom, dumping his clothes in a laundry bin in the corner before going into the walk-in closet that was attached to the bathroom.
With how tired he was, he was finding out very fast he didn't care about anything but getting changed and getting his ass in bed. He didn't really want to fight with Lucy about who slept where or what was to happen because he needed sleep.
When he returned back to the bedroom with t-shirt in hand, he could see Lucy struggling to get her zipper undone. She was twisting around in all sorts of ways trying to reach it and he found it pretty funny how she was red to the face.
"Need some help?"
She looked conflicted with her answer as she chewed on her bottom lip, eyes wandering everywhere else but him. He took it upon himself to make a decision for her since clearly there was one right answer and he came behind her.
"Here." He held out the t-shirt to her and she grabbed it from him, tucking her chin down so he could grab at the zipper. He could still smell her perfume on her and the sweet sugary scent sent tingles down his stomach. He reached for the zipper that was tucked in by her nape and slowly started to unzip the dress, watching it trail down her back where her milky skin came into view.
His mouth watered at the sight, looking at each dip and curve of her spine where he finally reached the end. His hands twitched, wanting to run his palm against her skin and worship her in ways she's never experienced before.
But it was late, he was tired, and he already told her they weren't going to be doing anything tonight so he took a step back and stuffed his eager hands into his pocket. "There. Now go get changed." He said, heading back into the bathroom without giving her time to speak.
He ran his hands down his face, groaning softly at the images that were popping up in his head. Such sinful curves. Smooth creamy skin. Plump lips.
He was going crazy.
Natsu didn't take long to get ready for bed as he just tossed his entire clothes into the laundry bin, deciding to just grab some random t-shirt and a pair of boxers to change into. He splashed some cold water on his face and gave his reflection a stern glare before heading back into their room.
Her dress was just in a pile on the floor with her tucked in the farthest side of the king bed. Her back was to him but he knew she had to still be awake. Normally he would have loved to poke fun at her till she was screaming but his body was shutting down and he had to get some rest or he might go on a mini rampage.
He always had tomorrow and the days to come to poke fun at his wife and as much as he would love to cuddle, he would have to deal with her just sleeping beside him.
"Goodnight, Lucy."
Turning the lights off and the darkness absorbing them, Natsu could only hear the soft inhale and exhale of her breathing.
Maybe she really did fall asleep that fast. Or she could just be ignoring him like usual.
And as he began to doze off with his eyes fluttering shut, he heard a very faint soft voice reply back to him.
"Goodnight… Natsu."
