Soifon's Dream*
A young woman was observed traversing a densely wooded area, characterized by its darkness. Her eyes, reminiscent of a turbulent gray sky, exuded an air of mystery. Inquisitively, she murmured to herself, questioning the nature of her surroundings. The wind offered its response in the form of a resounding howl, causing her braids to gently collide, generating a subtle sound.
Moving cautiously, the young captain advanced, maintaining a vigilant demeanor to anticipate any potential threats lurking in her vicinity. Soifon turned her head upon hearing the distinct sound of a twig breaking from behind, narrowing her eyes as she halted her progress. As she reached for her sword, known as her zenpakuto, she was met with an empty grasp, perplexing her.
Her thoughts reflected her astonishment at the situation, her wide, stormy gray eyes mirroring her disbelief. 'Curious,' ruminated the captain, 'I was convinced that I had Suzumebachi in my possession.' Allowing her hand to fall back to her side, her gaze narrowed as a figure, cloaked in red, approached her. The wind billowed behind him, while his piercing red eyes focused intently on her.
The captain retreated a step as he halted in front of her, and Soifon regarded him with a distrustful gaze in her stormy gray eyes. She inquired, her voice hushed like a gentle breeze, "May I know your identity?" Unfamiliar with this individual, she sensed his formidable power emanating from his aura.
As the man halted before her, Soifon had a clearer view of him. His complexion was fair, and his hair, long and spiked at the back, partially obscured his right eye. He donned a red attire resembling armor, while his eyes—particularly the left one since the right was concealed—displayed an enigmatic quality.
Soifon parted her lips to reiterate her query about his identity, but the man preempted her, asserting with a frigid tone, "You are not meant to be here!"
The small captain's gray eyes widened upon hearing his words. She found herself puzzled by his statement. Where did she not belong? The Soul Society? Why would he imply that she didn't belong there, when it was her home?
"Could you kindly clarify what you mean by saying that I don't belong here?" she inquired in a composed manner. Though she acknowledged her duty to dismiss this individual, she couldn't bring herself to take action or exude hostility towards him. This inner conflict perplexed her, intensifying the confusion.
However, the man remained silent, his red eye fixated on her. "You do not belong here," he firmly stated. The captain was taken aback by this declaration, feeling an unsettling realization wash over her. "This life you are living is a deception!" he continued, unfazed by her immediate questioning. The distressing revelation prompted beads of sweat to form on her forehead.
"What is the meaning behind your words?" Soifon inquired firmly, her hands tightly clenched by her sides. Her eyes narrowed as she expressed her frustration towards the unknown man who spoke in riddles, finding his behavior highly irritating.
Without receiving a response, Soifon boldly took a step forward, demanding an answer. Her loud voice resonated through the surroundings, startling the birds resting on the treetops above them. With a cold and piercing gaze, she questioned the man's identity, her gray eyes filled with a frigid intensity.
Unfazed by Soifon's burst of anger, the man remained motionless, observing her as she closed the distance between them. He assured her that she would soon discover the truth, moving forward to bring their faces almost touching.
As the man towered over her, Soifon tilted her head upwards to meet his gaze, despite the significant difference in height. Not only was she unnerved by his proximity, but also by his overpowering aura which surpassed her own. With sweat trickling down her face, she swallowed nervously, her wide gray eyes betraying her unease.
Soifon's breathing began to quicken and her heartbeat intensified as the man lifted his hand and placed it gently on her cheek.
The petite woman's body grew even more tense as she observed him lowering his head and uttering a warning: 'Do not place your trust in anyone, even those who are closest to you. The truth will soon reveal itself to you, my child!' With that, he withdrew his hand from the captain's face. Soifon couldn't help but release a deep breath as he retreated, her gray eyes fixated on him, filled with perplexity.
What did he mean by advising her not to trust anyone? Did this imply that she could no longer place her trust in her former mentor, Yoruichi? While she had always harbored a certain degree of skepticism towards others, there existed a small circle of individuals whom she did trust.
The captain observed as the man averted his gaze from her. 'W- Wait!!' she implored in a subdued tone, yet loud enough to reach his ears. The man turned towards her and inquired, 'What is the matter?' Soifon took a deep breath before speaking calmly, 'May I ask who you are?' A mocking laugh escaped the man's lips as he glanced back at Soifon.
"You will soon learn, little one! Do not underestimate the importance of my message!" he warned her. In the blink of an eye, the enigmatic man disappeared, leaving the diminutive woman standing alone in the dimly lit forest.
Present Day*
The small captain's eyes slowly opened as the sun began to filter through the window blinds by her bed, indicating that morning had arrived. With a sigh, she rose from her bed, her feet lightly tapping against the cold floor.
Taking a quick glance at the clock, she noted that it was seven o'clock in the morning. She proceeded to the bathroom to freshen up for the day and commence the morning training for her squad. The dream she had been pondering lingered in her thoughts, and she grew curious about its meaning.
A slight frown appeared on her face as she wondered if the man in her dream had spoken the truth. Shaking her head to dispel the dream from her mind, she firmly dismissed it as a mere figment of her imagination.
Soifon proceeded to the restroom after retrieving her uniform and captain's coat, which she planned to don after her shower. Once she finished bathing, she intended to join her squad for their scheduled meeting.
The efficient individual swiftly completed her grooming and effortlessly donned her attire for the day's training session.
It was a bright and sunny day, accompanied by a refreshing breeze in the atmosphere. Positioned atop a staircase, a petite woman observed her team's training session with a stoic expression.
By her side, stood her imposing lieutenant, indulging in his usual snack of rice-fried crackers. Despite the annoyance caused by his loud crunching, she managed to suppress her irritation.
An unexpected interruption came in the form of a hell butterfly that approached her. Extending her finger, she offered a perch for the small creature. The butterfly relayed an important message from the captain commander, prompting Soifon to swiftly move her finger, allowing the insect to take flight and deliver the message to the other captains.
She proceeded to depart from observing her squad's departure from Omeada, allowing them to cease the training for approximately ten or twenty minutes. Flash gracefully descended the staircase and made her way to the first division.
Upon reaching the first division, two grand doors swung open to welcome her into the immense room. Being one of the first captains to arrive, she proceeded to her designated spot on the left side of the room, glancing around as she positioned herself.
Noticing that only a few captains had arrived prior to her, including Captains Unohana, Hitsuyagya, Ukitake, and Kuchiki, she observed as the remaining captains entered and took their respective positions. Finally, the head captain positioned himself before the other captains, ready to commence the proceedings.
After striking the floor with his cane to indicate the start of the meeting, the elderly man scanned the room with his aged eyes. He proceeded to address the captains before him, expressing gratitude for their presence and initiating the proceedings.
Upon seeing the curious expressions around him, he conveyed his intention to dispatch a select group of squad members accompanied by two captains to another world. This world, he explained, was inhabited by ninja protectors residing in concealed villages. The aim was to establish an alliance with one such village, specifically the Hidden Village of the Leaves, by sending Rukia Kuchiki, Renji Abari, and captains Soifon and Ukitake to meet with their leader, the Hokage.
Soifon displayed a brief smile of interest before it vanished. Captain Ukitake, understanding why he had been chosen, inquired about the departure timeline.
Soifon patiently awaited the departure of the remaining captains from the premises before approaching Ukitake. She informed him, in a confident tone, that they would meet at the 12th division within the upcoming two hours. To acknowledge her statement, the white-haired captain nodded in agreement. Subsequently, both captains exited the first division, allowing its members to commence their preparations for departure.
Following their parting, Soifon proceeded towards her own division with the intention of making the necessary arrangements and informing her lieutenant about her prolonged absence. Despite her reluctance in entrusting any matter to him, especially for an extended period, she embarked on a contemplative walk towards her division. A slight frown emerged on her countenance, accentuating its inherent beauty.
