( Brooke is an OC)
Toshiro leaned against a tree, observing Itachi engaged in meditation. The Uchiha's serene countenance indicated that he had delved into his inner realm, his arms crossed over his chest.
Toshiro blinked and turned towards a voice calling out to him, addressing him as 'Captain Hitsuyagya.' As he prepared to respond, a young woman with long brown hair and green eyes approached him, her attire differing from the typical Soul Reaper uniform.
'Third Seat Kotetsu, how may I assist you?' Toshiro inquired as the girl abruptly halted before him. 'I have been dispatched to inform you that the Head Captain requires your immediate presence, as all the captains are convening in the first division,' the brunette girl informed him, taking a deep breath.
Toshiro nodded, regarding her attentively. 'When does he require my presence?' he queried, casting a glance towards the Third Seat of the Second Squad. 'He expressly stated that he needs you now, and it is of utmost urgency,' the woman responded. Observing her briefly, Toshiro commented, 'I appreciate your offer to remain here with Uchiha-san until my return.'
Toshiro observed the girl and gave a nod of affirmation. 'Okay, thank you Brooke,' he said, shifting his gaze towards Itachi who was still in deep meditation. Turning back to Brooke who stood before him, he instructed, 'Once he awakens, please inform him to take a break until I return.'
'And I kindly request that you refrain from excessive flirting with him,' Toshiro added, noticing the raised eyebrow from the brunette. 'Who, me?' she questioned, feigning offense, although she was aware of the truth. 'Yes, indeed. You spend too much time hanging around Rangiku,' Toshiro remarked with a slight roll of his eyes.
Brooke couldn't help but laugh at Toshiro's comment. 'I promise to behave, and I'm not as bad as Rangiku, you know that,' she replied. Toshiro nodded, exhaling a sigh. 'Anyway, I must depart now. I will return in a few hours.'
'Okay,' Brooke acknowledged as Toshiro vanished using flash-step, leaving her alone with Itachi. As soon as the tenth captain was gone, the brunette attentively observed Itachi, who began to stir, indicating that he was awakening from his meditation. Brooke watched and patiently waited, crossing her arms over her chest.
Upon concluding his conversation and finalizing the agreement with his zenpakuto, Itachi's eyes fluttered open. He couldn't contain the satisfaction evident on his face, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to acquire the Kage Megami powers.
As he heard footsteps approaching, Itachi glanced upward. There stood a young woman of similar age, possessing flowing brown locks and piercing green eyes. Her attire consisted of a gray crop top, a black jacket with delicate gold accents, black shorts, and a sword sheathed at her lower back.
Curiosity got the better of Itachi as he inquired, 'May I ask who you are and the whereabouts of Captain Hitsuyagya?' He couldn't help but appreciate the woman's stunning appearance.
With a warm smile, the brunette responded, 'I am Brooke Kotetsu, the third seat of the second squad.' She continued, 'Captain Hitsuyagya has entrusted me to accompany you until his return from a captains meeting. You now have a few hours to unwind and relax.'
Itachi nodded and addressed Brooke formally, "I am Itachi Uchiha, and it is a pleasure to meet you, Kotetsu-san." His words elicited a giggle from Brooke, who responded with a smile, "Just call me Brooke." She then offered to show Itachi around the Seireitei while they waited for Toshiro.
Itachi acknowledged Brooke's offer and responded formally, "Okay, Brooke." He stood up and brushed himself off. Wondering about Brooke's attire, he inquired, "Why are you dressed differently? Don't all Soul Reapers wear the Shihakusho?" Itachi himself had been given a Shihakusho by Unohana the previous night.
Brooke shrugged as she looked at her outfit and replied, "Normally, yes, but I think it looks good on me. Don't you agree?" She smirked as she watched Itachi blush at her words.
"It... looks great on you," Itachi stuttered, averting his gaze from Brooke, who continued to smirk mischievously. "I thought Soul Reapers followed strict dress codes," he added.
Brooke nonchalantly expressed her indifference, saying 'We do, but I don't care.' With a smile, she continued, 'Anyway, let us depart so that we may have time to explore.' Taking the lead, she exited the courtyard.
Itachi acknowledged her statement with a nod and joined her as they walked. Curiosity getting the better of him, he ventured to ask, 'So, you are a member of squad two?' Brooke glanced at him and replied with a nod, 'Yes, I am specifically responsible for the Detention Unit, which entails guarding the prison that we commonly refer to as the Maggot's Nest.'
Intrigued by the unusual name, Itachi looked at Brooke inquisitively and asked, 'Why is it called the Maggot's Nest?' Brooke suggested that she would show him one day, saying, 'If you are interested, I can give you a tour.' As they continued walking, her hands casually tucked in her pockets.
Itachi agreed, saying, 'That sounds appealing.' Seizing the opportunity, he proceeded to inquire, 'Tell me, what can you share about the captain?' Aware that it might be an excessive request, he hoped Brooke would provide insight into his sister's character.
Brooke glanced at him and then redirected her gaze to the road ahead. She inquired, 'Captains Soifon?' in an attempt to clarify whether Itachi was referring to her own captain or Toshiro.
'It is indeed Captain Soifon,' Itachi confirmed. 'I am simply curious because I believe it is essential to familiarize myself with the characteristics of each captain.'
As they walked, Brooke nodded in acknowledgement and began to provide insight. 'Well, Captain Soifon is known for being short-tempered and highly diligent. She is regarded as one of the fastest soul reapers, second only to her former mentor, Yoruichi Shihoin.' Itachi nodded attentively as he listened to Brooke's description.
Now in the shopping district, Brooke added, 'Despite Captain Soifon's austere demeanor, she can display a softer side, particularly towards individuals who do not provoke her or incite her anger.' She concluded her explanation and directed her gaze towards Itachi. 'However, she tends to be cautious in placing her trust in others. Is there anything else you would like to know?'
Itachi couldn't help but smile at the similarity between his sister's temperament and that of the Uchiha clan. He eagerly anticipated meeting Soifon and establishing a connection with her.
Itachi strolled alongside Brooke through the bustling shopping district of Seireitei, taking notice of the numerous soul reapers traversing the area. "What can you tell me about Captain Hitsuyagya? Is it true that he holds the distinction of being the youngest captain?" he queried, observing as Brooke's expression transformed into a light-hearted chuckle.
"Indeed, that is correct," Brooke affirmed, her gaze fixed upon Itachi's countenance. "He possesses formidable strength, bearing an exceptionally powerful ice-type zanpakuto known as Hyōrinmaru. Furthermore, his exceptional talent allowed him to graduate early from the academy and ascend to the position of the youngest captain. Soifon holds the second spot for youngest captain, followed by Byakuya." Brooke elucidated.
Itachi nodded attentively, attentively absorbing Brooke's words. "And what can you tell me about the other captains? I have already encountered Captain Unohana, who can be quite formidable when she wishes," Itachi inquired, recalling the unsettling smile bestowed upon him by the fourth captain.
Brooke couldn't help but let out a laugh, finding amusement in Itachi's remark. "Allow me to guess, Unohana greeted you with one of her infamous smiles? What could you possibly have done to warrant such a response?" she jested, understanding Itachi's apprehension as she herself held a sense of trepidation towards her sister's captain.
Itachi acknowledged with a nod. "Yes, when she requested me to follow her, it was to explain the responsibilities of being a captain," he remarked. He then noticed the brunette laughing and inquired with a raised eyebrow, "May I inquire as to the reason for your amusement?"
Brooke couldn't restrain her laughter in response to the man with black hair. "Well, one thing to understand about Captain Unohana is that you should not make her repeat herself," she stated with a grin. "And the most important rule is to never interfere with her squad or assume that you know more than her," she added. Passing along some information, she explained, "Unohana is one of the oldest captains here and she played a vital role in forming the squads."
Itachi nodded in understanding. "I will keep that in mind," he responded with a chuckle. Trying to provide some reassurance, Brooke mentioned, "Don't worry, if it makes you feel better, Captain Zaraki is somewhat afraid of her, and she is the only person he truly respects." She added, "And Zaraki is considered one the most powerful and intimidating captain, second only to Mayuri."
To Itachi's surprise, he nodded as he learned that the formidable Captain Zaraki held fear towards a petite woman. However, he reasoned that everyone was apprehensive when Unohana displayed her smile.
"Anyway, enough discussion about the captains. Let us proceed to find something to eat as this conversation has aroused my hunger," Brooke stated as she walked ahead towards a small rice shop. Itachi agreed, his stomach emitting a growl. "I am also experiencing hunger," he confessed.
Amused by Itachi's hunger, Brooke let out a laugh. "I can certainly perceive that," she remarked, leaving Itachi to head towards the rice shop. She smiled upon spotting her two sisters seated at a table, engrossed in their meal. "Allow me to introduce you to my sisters," she offered, and Itachi followed her approach.
Observing where Brooke was leading him, Itachi noticed two women seated and enjoying their rice. As they drew nearer, he had a better view of the individuals in question.
The first woman appeared young and possessed a remarkable beauty. She had gray eyes and short, disheveled silver hair, with shoulder-length strands on the right side of her face. Additionally, she adorned her fair complexion with two thick eyebrows. Dangling red earrings, thin and delicate, graced each of her ears. She wore a standard Shinigami uniform, with her lieutenant badge displayed on her left arm.
The second individual was a younger, petite woman with dark blond hair and blue-gray eyes. She is dressed in a standard Shinigami shihakusho with a white shirt collar visible over her top and white gloves.
Itachi followed Brooke and observed as a waiter approached to take their order. He greeted the waiter with a smile, receiving a nod in return after Brooke had placed their order.
"Itachi, why don't you take a seat?" Brooke asked, and Itachi nodded while sitting down beside her.
"Hello, I am Kiyone Kotetsu, co-third seat of squad thirteen, and this is Isane Kotetsu, lieutenant of squad four," the young blonde introduced, pointing towards the tall woman who nodded. "Hello, Itachi-san," she greeted quietly.
Itachi nodded with a smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you both," he replied, shifting his gaze to Brooke. "Does that make me the middle child?" he jokingly asked, receiving a playful elbow from Brooke and a grin on her face. "Yes, Kiyone is the youngest," she confirmed with a grin, as Kiyone stuck her tongue out.
Brooke chuckled at her younger sister and playfully stuck her tongue out. "I love you," she said, tousling the blonde girl's hair. "Hey, don't do that," the younger sister pouted. "I want my hair to look nice so Captain Ukitake will be happy," she added, blushing slightly.
Itachi raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Why does it have to be perfect for Ukitake?" he asked, earning a glare from the younger girl. "Because it just has to be. I want everything to be perfect for my captain," she replied firmly.
Brooke laughed and leaned in towards Itachi. "Kiyone has a major crush on Captain Ukitake, and you'll get to meet him when he returns," she whispered. Itachi nodded, grateful for the opportunity to get to know more of the captains. Brooke paid no attention to the younger Kotetsu's glare. "And I'm sure you'll get along with him. He's one of the sweetest captains you'll meet, apart from Sajin," she assured him.
Itachi nodded, glad to be learning more about the captains. He smiled at Kiyone and watched as their food arrived. They began eating and engaged in conversation about various topics.
( I am putting Kiyone with Jushiro if no one likes it you can skip the parts :) )
