Authors note, this story is based off a year before Tess went to Roswell
The sun was hot in Arizona, the June weather was easier to deal with in the shade. Tess was on her way to school. She had to take the bus there and luckily it pulled up in front of her door. The homework from last night was easy, it was stuff she had gone over before. Once on the bus, it wasn't long before she was at school. Her friends were waiting outside for her, Kate and Riley. When the Tess got to the she knew that Kate had a good nights rest, she was going over the plans for the end of school dance. The dance was being held in the gym, and they would start making decorations today. Riley was listening, not saying anything unless asked a question. She greeted them both, than went inside to her locker.
There was pink balloon stickers, and when she put in the combination, it had a slight harsh pull to it, due to her power overload that made the locker stick. The locker came open and she got her stuff for class. In class they were discussing history, it seemed to fit in with the way she imagined that the timeline happened. After a few more classes, Tess was going to lunch, luckily she had lunch with Kate and Riley. She went through the line, mostly cool foods were available. After sitting down she noticed Kate's bagel wasn't warm, Tess reached over and melted the butter. Katie smiled at her and turned around to the their friend at next table something. Both Kate and Riley knew about Tess being an alien. Nasado never found she told them, he worked to much. They were in the basement of the school one day, and were lost in a pitch black room, Tess had used her powers to know where they were. After she had explained to them about her pod birth, they were both understanding, and wanted to help her on the journey to find out where she came from.
After a few more classes, they were free from school. The three of them hung out at the school park for awhile, then Kate had to get home and Riley had a dirt bike race he wanted to get to. Tess started to walk home, she decided she was going to go swimming after getting home, it was still hot out.
