Can someone help Barry heal? Let's find out.
Central City:
At the West Home, the team were in the living room talking about Barry and how they could help him heal. Iris had got up and went into the kitchen to take a phone call when Cisco's phone started ringing.
"This is a surprise." Cisco uttered as he showed the ID to Caitlin and Joe. "Why is Laurel Lance calling?" Cisco asked as he got up then answered it. "Hello Laurel, what can I do for you?" Cisco asked as he looked at the pair.
"Hello Cisco. I'm currently in Central City and I was wondering if you could help me with something." Laurel started as Cisco looked out the window. "Oliver and Felicity are on their way to Central City to see Barry, do you know where he is?" Laurel asked then Cisco covered his phone and looked at the others.
"Laurel's asking where Barry is for Oliver and Felicity, do I tell her?" Cisco asked and Joe nodded.
"If they can help Barry, tell them." Joe told him and Cisco nodded, he uncovered the speaker as he leant against the wall.
"We think that he's been living out of STAR Labs, but he might've moved somewhere else." Cisco answered as he looked at the floor. "I hope you can talk to him, he won't talk to us." Cisco hoped as he blushed his hand through his hair.
"Thanks Cisco." Laurel thanked then the call ended. Cisco sighed as he put his phone back inside his pocket and looked at Joe and Caitlin, just as Iris walked in.
"What did I miss?" Iris asked as she looked at Caitlin, then at Cisco, then finally Joe. The trio looked at each other then Joe looked at his daughter.
"We might have found someone to talk to Barry." Joe told her which made Iris smile a little. "But we have to wait and see what happens." Joe added and Iris nodded as she and Cisco sat down, hoping that Barry could be helped.
STAR Labs:
The building was quiet as Barry was training, he was on the treadmill running; he wanted to get faster so that he could protect everyone in Central City. He looked at the monitor to see how fast he was going but he was reaching speeds of eight and half thousand miles per hour. Barry started to slow down then he walked off the treadmill and drank some water.
"So that's fast you are?" Barry looked behind him to see Laurel Lance leaning against the doorframe. "Hello again, Barry." Laurel smirked and Barry nodded as he walked into the Cortex, with Laurel following.
"What brings you to Central City, Laurel? A change of scenery? A break from your Dad? Or something else?" Barry asked as he put his water bottle down and walked into the med bay to grab a clean t-shirt. Laurel walked towards the Flash suit when she caught a glimpse at Barry shirtless, she quickly turned back to the Flash suit as Barry walked out.
"You asked why I was here. There's two answers," Laurel started as Barry leant against the doorframe of the med bay. "One was that I was at CCPD, dropping off a file about a criminal The Flash caught; he was Star City then came here." Laurel answered and Barry nodded. "And the second reason was that we're worried about you. And when I mean we, I mean Oliver, Felicity, John and me." Laurel added and Barry looked at her.
"Cisco told them?" Barry asked and Laurel nodded as she folded her arms. "Sorry to worry you but I'm fine, I'm better alone." Barry promised as Laurel rolled her eyes. "What?" Barry questioned as he stepped forward.
"You're better alone? Do you know who else thought that?" Laurel asked as she stepped forward. "Oliver did. He thought he could deal with his mission alone but then he opened up. First John, then Felicity and then more joined. Roy, Thea, Ray, me." Laurel told him as Barry walked away shaking his head.
"I became The Flash to stop Metas that hurt people, find a way to free my Dad, solve my Mom's murder and protect my friends." Barry started as he turned around to look at Laurel. "My Mom's killer is dead, I can't get my Dad out of prison, I lost two friends and they were real heroes that day! Not me!" Barry shouted and Laurel could see that Barry was broken on the inside. "After that day, I swore to never let someone I care about get again. I pushed them away for their safety, plus they might be better without me. Iris lost Eddie and Caitlin lost Ronnie, both died saving me." Barry explained as Laurel walked over to him.
"Barry…" Laurel was about to speak when they heard beeping. Barry wiped his eyes and ran over to a computer to see what it was. "Barry, wait!" Laurel shouted but Barry had already grabbed his suit and ran off. Laurel was alone in the Cortex when her phone started ringing, she took it out and answered it.
"Laurel, we'll be in Star City by tomorrow." Oliver spoke over speaker, Laurel nodded as she looked at the dummy that The Flash suit was meant to be. "Did you find Barry?" He asked and Laurel nodded.
"I did, he's been living in STAR Labs." Laurel started as she sat down. "He just left to deal with some trouble. But I might've found something out." Laurel added as she turned around and looked at the entrance to the Cortex. "Barry's doing what you used to do: he's shut everyone out to protect them as he blames himself." Laurel explained whilst leaning back in the chair.
"He blames himself for the deaths of Eddie and Ronnie." Oliver spoke and Laurel nodded. "Did he say anything else?" Oliver asked and Laurel nodded.
"He's angry he couldn't get any evidence to get Henry out of prison, thanks to the evil guy gone." Laurel added as she rubbed her eyes. Laurel saw a stack of envelopes on the main desk, she got up and walked over to get a closer look. "There are dozens of envelopes here, from Weathersby and Stone LLP. They're attorneys and the envelopes are all addressed to Barry." Laurel read as she put one of the envelopes down then sat down.
"Do you think they have something to do with Wells?" Oliver asked as Laurel stared at the envelopes.
"It's possible, they seem to go back to when Wells was announced dead." Laurel answered. "I'll talk to him when he gets back, see you two later." Laurel ended the call just as Barry ran in.
"Still here?" Barry asked and Laurel nodded. Barry noticed all the envelopes were now on the desk and stacked. "Did you read any of them?" Barry asked as he walked in the room with the treadmill and changed.
"Barry, I wouldn't look at your letters as it's against the law." Laurel answered as Barry sped out, hung up his suit then stood by it. "And besides, would it help for you to know that they are from people who work at Weathersby and Stone LLP. And judging by the earliest one, they started coming after the death of Harrison Wells." Laurel explained which made Barry look at her.
"I'm afraid," Barry started as he looked at the floor, Laurel looked at him as she got up. "What if Wells did anything but confess to my Mom's murder? He could've left this place for me but it wouldn't get my Dad out." Barry told her as Laurel walked over to him.
"What if you went with a friend to see them?" Laurel asked as Barry looked at her. "Oliver and Felicity are on their way, John is with Lyla while Thea is sorting out her life as a hero. So if you like, I can go with you." Laurel offered and Barry slowly nodded.
"Thank you, Laurel." Barry thanked and Laurel nodded. "Well, no better time than the present. Let's get this over with." Barry suggested and Laurel nodded. Barry carefully picked up Laurel bridal style and looked at her. "Hold on, first timers usually end up sick. Or their clothes on fire. Or both." Barry advised but before Laurel could say anything, Barry sped out of STAR Labs and towards the attorney's office.
Weathersby and Stone LLP:
Outside the building, Barry arrived as he lowered Laurel but she had no after effects. Barry was impressed as Laurel smoothed down her hair then looked at Barry.
"This is it. Are you ready, Barry?" Laurel asked as Barry checked his trainers, to make sure they weren't smoking.
"Yeah, I'm ready." Barry answered then the pair walked out of the alley and towards the entrance.
After waiting a while for their appointment, the pair walked into an office and were greeted by a man in a suit. He got up and held out his hand, Barry nodded as he shook the man's hand.
"Barry Allen, thank you for coming." The man thanked as he shook Laurel's hand then they all sat down. "My name is Greg Turk. I've been trying to get in touch with you for months, I'm glad that you're here now. And who is this?" Greg asked as he looked at Laurel.
"I'm Laurel Lance. I'm Barry's friend as well as being an assistant District Attorney in Star City." Laurel introduced herself and Greg nodded. "Barry wanted a friend here with him so I offered to join." Laurel added and Barry nodded.
"I understand." Greg smiled as he sat forward and folded his arms. "Mister Allen, as well as discussing Doctor Wells, we need to discuss about STAR Labs." Greg started which got Barry and Laurel's attention. "As you might know, Harrison Wells left you the property as part of his living trust." Greg explained which surprised both Barry and Laurel.
"I did not know that." Barry answered as he looked at Laurel then back at the attorney. "I have been keeping the place up mostly because that place helped me after…" Barry paused as he placed his hand on his chest.
"You were hit by lightning, in a coma for months and STAR Labs helped you. Doctor Wells told me." Greg continued and Barry nodded. "But it's going to take more than cleaning the place to retain it. Both the facility and the real estate are scheduled to go into receivership at the end of next week." Greg explained then Barry nodded.
"I'm guessing there's more? A way for that not to happen?" Laurel asked as Barry looked at her, then back at Greg. The attorney nodded as he opened the top drawer of his desk then took out a flash drive.
"There is, if you watch this." Greg answered as he placed the flash drive on the desk. "On that is a video message drafted by Doctor Wells, only to be watched by you." Greg told them as Barry slowly reached out and picked it up.
"Say Barry watches it, what will happen afterwards?" Laurel asked as Barry was looking at the flash drive, thinking about what could be on it.
"Once Mister Allen has watched the video, the device will send me a notification after you've viewed it then I'll have everything ready to execute." Greg explained and Laurel nodded, she then looked at Barry, who nodded at the attorney. "You have until the end of next week to watch it." Greg reminded them as they all stood up then Barry shook Greg's hand, then Laurel shook his hand then they left as the attorney got back to work.
Once they were outside Weathersby and Stone LLP, Barry and Laurel started walking as Barry put the flash drive inside his trouser pocket. They were walking in silence as they kept going until Laurel broke the silence.
"What will you do now?" Laurel asked as Barry looked at her. "Will you watch it? The video message and see what Wells has to say?" She asked as Barry looked at the ground.
"I'm thinking about it but what if what I'm hoping for doesn't happen?" Barry asked as he looked at Laurel then he looked in front. "I'm supposed to be Central City's hero of hope and I don't have any." Barry sighed when Laurel placed a hand on his shoulder.
"If Oliver has told me anything, it is that you are someone that can light anyone's darkest time." Laurel told him and Barry looked at her, he watched her take out her phone and started typing. "Right. Let's get back to STAR Labs and get you packed." Laurel suggested as she started to walk ahead, leaving Barry confused.
"Packed? Where am I going? And who did you text?" Barry asked as he caught up to Laurel, who was smiling.
"I texted Felicity and as for your first question," Laurel paused as they stopped and looked at each other. "We are going to Star City." Laurel told him and Barry was surprised then he smiled. He looked around then he and Laurel ran down an alley, he quickly picked her up then sped back towards STAR Labs.
What do you think will happen? How will things go for Barry and Laurel in Star City?
