Sakura woke up in the early morning, at 5:00. That day was, March 21, 2024, nothing more and nothing less than the 24th anniversary after she confessed her feelings to Tomoyo, and since that day, they had remained together, now in holy matrimony.
Sakura went to the bathroom and washed her face, and after brushing her teeth she realized something that worried her... Tomoyo was not there...
Sakura had gone through a terrible event a few months ago: Her father, Fujitaka Kinomoto, had died in his armchair of a heart attack.
Sakura had gone to visit him for his birthday. Touya was out of the country, and Tomoyo was at the doctor for an appointment related to her recent pregnancy, so she was the only one who could attend his party, which caused Sakura to have to visit him alone. When she arrived, she saw him sitting on the sofa. She approached him, and at first assumed that he was asleep.
But when she touched his hands, she felt nothing but the cold hands of her father. She couldn't help but panic and scream, scream, and scream, until the neighbors arrived and saw the heartbreaking scene.
And now, every time Tomoyo slept on the couch or got no immediate response, an immense fear welled up inside her. Tomoyo didn't seem upset despite Sakura's thousands of apologies whenever she had an anxiety attack, trying to help her in any way she could.
When Sakura didn't saw Tomoyo in the bed, she went into a state of anxiety, so she quickly went to the kitchen, where she saw her asleep with the TV on, sitting on the sofa. "T-Tomoyo!" murmured Sakura, almost in a whisper. The words did not come out of his mouth. Sakura quickly rushed to her and took her hands, where she felt her cold and wet hands.
"N-NO, TOMOYO!" Sakura's heart-rending scream woke Tomoyo almost instantly. "My God Sakura, what happened?" asked Tomoyo sleepily, to which Sakura fell to the ground from shock. "Are you a ghost?!" she asked in fear, to which Tomoyo laughed.
"No, it's me, Tomoyo Kinomoto, your wife." Tomoyo replied with a smile. "Why were your hands wet and cold?" asked Sakura kneeling in front of the sofa, trying to calm herself. "I was making breakfast, so obviously my hands were wet." Tomoyo explained, while Sakura hugged Tomoyo's lap, placing her cheek against his belly.
"The baby's heart is beating... Why did you want to be the one to get pregnant?" asked Sakura with some concern in her voice. "I'm afraid that something will happen to you, physically I'm more resistant, I don't want anything to happen to you..." Sakura said, to which Tomoyo smiled at her. "Because you have always protected me Sakura, and it is my turn to return the favor." She explained while stroking his wife's hair.
"Give our daughter a kiss." Tomoyo said with a smile, to which Sakura lifted Tomoyo's nightgown, joining her lips with the exposed belly of her beloved. Tomoyo blushed when he felt Sakura's lips. She had always been more open than Sakura in terms of expressing affection physically, but if there was something that melted her, it was when Sakura kissed her not out of desire, but because she wanted to protect her, to want to give her some of her magic with her lips, although they both knew that was impossible.
"I wonder if the letters are Akemi's friends." Sakura commented, to which Tomoyo laughed. "Akemi, I thought you didn't know what to call her." Tomoyo replied with a chuckle. "We could call her Nadeshiko, after your mother, if that's how you wish." Tomoyo suggested, to which Sakura shook her head.
"No... My mother was a wonderful person, and I'm sure she would have wanted our daughter to create her own legacy, just as she and I created our own, not following anyone else's... So, we can call her, Akemi Kinomoto, unless you have a better name." Sakura pointed out.
"Madoka, like that series we watched so much in our adolescence." Tomoyo said. "I like..." Sakura said. "So, Madoka Kinomoto, I love it." She added, as he rested his head on his beloved wife's thighs.
"You know, I miss a little bit when you and I were intimate... Since I got pregnant we haven't had any." Sakura blushed when she heard her wife's words. "T-Tomoyo, don't say those inappropriate things... Besides, if we have something now, we might hurt her..." Sakura added. "It was a joke Sakura, but don't worry, you know I'll never do anything that makes you uncomfortable." Tomoyo said, giving Sakura a kiss.
During the kiss, tears began to flow from Sakura's eyes. "I miss Papa..." she said, while crying. "I'm so sorry Sakura... I wish I had been there to comfort you... Sorry..." Tomoyo apologized.
"I loved him so much... I was so happy when I was with him, when he told me how a class had gone, an excavation, whatever... And now I'll never be able to hear that again..." Sakura recalled, increasing her tears and clinging to her beloved's arms.
"You loved him, those moments will live forever in your heart, because that was the most valuable gift he gave you, he did not give you books, or wisdom, he only gave you his sincere love, my beloved." Tomoyo said, intensifying his embrace. "It hurts me a lot that he is not here... I miss him so much..." Sakura said. "It's normal for you to miss him, you'll never stop missing him, and that's okay, because it means you love him so much..." Tomoyo replied.
"Thank you, I love you..." Sakura replied, trying to position her optimism towards something better, towards a Future, the future of her new daughter, Madoka Kinomoto.
