*Which lake? Which lake would Kayo be in?

'Guys? I think I might have found her.'

Everyone's head whipped round to Alan and the excitement in his voice.*

'What have you got, Alan?'

'I…uh…I have a dead spot over Lake Huron.'

'A dead spot?'

'It wasn't there before, Scott, I swear. I was scanning and suddenly there's nothing.'

'Let me see.'

Gordon didn't move quickly enough and Alan found himself nudged out of his seat by Scott. He didn't begrudge his eldest brother, and he watched as Scott's fingers flew over the screens and keyboard before turning to him with a grin.

Scott sprang from his seat and ruffled Alan's hair.

'Well done, sprout! I think you're right, Shadow has a disrupter in her arsenal, and shielding, so yeah, it is quite possible – probable actually – that you've found her.'

Alan blushed and grinned, and Gordon nudged him.

'Gordon – Thunderbird Four is go.'

'FAB, Scott.'

'Do you want help?'

'No, at the depth Shadow will likely be Four will be helping free her and using the buoyancy floats to get her to the surface where you can rescue Kayo. I daren't try any other way, at least not until I can check out where she is and work out if there is another, better way to get the two up out of the lake.'

'FAB, Gordon. Get going. Virgil?'

'Bringing Two into a low hover over Lake Huron now, Scott.'

They all watched on Two's cameras as Gordon entered Four's module and, switching to Four's internal cameras they waited for the aquanaut to give the thumbs up. It didn't take very long for Gordon's trademark grin to light up his face, despite the seriousness of their mission, and Virgil was giving him a green light.

The module dropped the short distance and Gordon took over, opening the door and deploying Four. She sank rapidly down, Gordon abstractedly noting trout and bass shoals as he passed. He deployed a microphone about halfway down.

'Guys? I'm heading for the jammed sector. Comms will go dead in ten.'

'FAB, Gordon. If you need anything use Morse Code, Two can pick up the vibrations on the mike.'

'Five. Four. Three. Two. One.'

And Gordon was gone. Now all they had to do was wait.

Four's lamps lit up the area and in any other circumstances Gordon would have thoroughly enjoyed himself as some denizens of the deeper parts of the lake flashed by his viewport. But his concentration was only for Shadow.

Or rather, the *lack* of Four's sister.

He was at the co-ordinates, so why wasn't Shadow here? Gordon flicked a switch to make the lights brighter in the gloom. A shape began to appear. He pressed forward eagerly.

But it wasn't Shadow that leapt into sight.

Gordon took a sudden deep breath and gunned Four into reverse. But he wasn't quick enough.

Four's approach and then rapid reverse had sent a current through the water, triggering the old mine that had attached itself to the hull of the shipwreck. It had already begun its' countdown probably triggered by Two's scan earlier, and before he could get Four to a safe distance away the mine exploded.

Up on the surface there was a sudden disturbance and the water seemed to sink a little before exploding into a fountain high enough to hit Two's undercarriage. Scott hit the comms.

'Gordon! Gordon! Answer me! Gordon!'

But there was no reply.
