Chapter 6: Revelations
As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over Konoha, Tsunade sat at her desk, the DNA report still fresh in her mind. She had been contemplating how to approach Minato ever since she discovered the shocking results. Now, she was ready to call him into her office. "Shizune," Tsunade said, her voice steady. "Can you please fetch Minato for me?" "Yes, Tsunade-sama," Shizune replied, quickly leaving the room to find the Hokage. Moments later, Minato entered, his expression a mix of curiosity and concern. Tsunade gestured for him to sit. "Minato, I need to discuss something important with you regarding the boy you brought in," Tsunade began, her tone serious. Minato leaned forward, a hint of worry flickering in his blue eyes. "Is it about Naruto?" Tsunade nodded and handed him the report. "I had a DNA test conducted, out of curiosity because of the uncanny resemblance he held toward you. I thought he might be related in some way, and you should see the results for yourself." As Minato read through the report, his expression shifted from curiosity to shock. The revelation that Naruto was related to him and Kushina hit him like a thunderbolt. He looked up from the document, his mind racing. "This can't be right. How is he...? Where did he come from?" Before Minato could continue his thoughts, Tsunade interjected, "Minato, there's something else you need to know. I sensed an unrecognized chakra in Naruto's body when he was admitted. There was also a seal that I briefly saw, but it vanished almost immediately." Minato's brow furrowed as he recalled the strange aura surrounding Naruto when he had first arrived in the village. He remembered the white, swirling energy that had enveloped the boy but had dismissed it at the time, thinking it might be a result of his injuries. Now, he felt a chill of realization wash over him. As he thought further about it, he dismissed the idea of Naruto being a result of an experiment conducted by Orochimaru. There was no way that Orochimaru could create such a potent chakra, he concluded. Tsunade continued, "That seal... it might be connected to whatever he's been through." Minato began to think about the shinobi council meeting held that morning. Danzō had pushed for extreme measures during their discussions regarding Naruto's situation. "He wanted to place Naruto in a cell, to observe him with Root," Minato reflected, a sense of dread creeping in. "I didn't want that for him. I made the decision to let him stay with us instead. But what if I was wrong?" Tsunade watched as Minato's expression darkened with concern. "You made the right choice, Minato. Danzō must have heard about Naruto's condition when he arrived and how fast his recovery rate was. I can't even imagine what he would do if he got his hands on Naruto." After a moment, Minato rose, still grappling with the weight of the revelations. "I need to speak with Kushina. She deserves to know everything." As he walked out of the hospital, he decided to take a longer route back home. The streets of Konoha were quieter now, the hustle and bustle of the day giving way to the calm of evening. With each step, he felt an urgency to return, but also a profound sense of responsibility for Naruto's future. When he finally arrived at his house, the familiar sight brought him comfort. He entered to find Kushina in the kitchen, preparing dinner. Her red hair was tied up in a loose bun, and she hummed softly to herself. Kushina looked up as he walked in. "Minato! You're back! How was your day? Did you hear anything about the kids?" "They're at the Uchiha compound," Minato replied, taking a seat at the kitchen table. "I think they decided to sleep over there." Kushina's expression shifted from casual to concerned. "What's wrong? You look troubled." Taking a deep breath, Minato shared everything he had learned. "I spoke with Tsunade. She conducted a DNA test on Naruto." He paused, gauging her reaction. "Kushina... he's our son." Kushina's eyes widened, disbelief flashing across her face. "What? How can that be?" He explained the details of the council meeting, the discussion about Danzō's ulterior motives, and the seal that Tsunade had detected on Naruto. "I decided to let him stay with us, rather than risk him being put in Danzō's hands. I need you to understand the gravity of this situation." As he spoke, he added, "Tsunade also mentioned sensing an unrecognized chakra in Naruto's body. That's what worries me. The seal she saw, too—whatever it was, it disappeared almost immediately after she noticed it. I can't shake the feeling that something's not right." Kushina's expression transformed from shock to a mix of determination and maternal instinct. "If he's our son, then we have to protect him. But why was he out there, alone and injured? How did he end up in Konoha?" Minato shook his head, his thoughts clouded by unanswered questions. "I don't know yet. But we'll find out together. We owe him that much." Kushina nodded, her resolve strengthening. "We'll take care of him. No matter what it takes." The pair exchanged a knowing glance, bound by the same fierce love that had shaped their family. As they spoke of plans for Naruto's arrival, they couldn't shake the feeling that their lives were about to change forever. In the morning, Naruto would come to their home, and with him, he would bring the mystery of his past and the promise of a future intertwined with their own.
