Chapter 21 The Choice

As a room was being setup for Loki, Kalrow arrived at the residence curious about the child. Kalrow was a bit startled to see a child that looked practically identical to Loptr. Luka filled the general in on what they had discovered about Loki and their plans to take the child to have an audience with both the Emperor and the Grand Elders. Kalrow was both interested as well as concerned about this discovery. If Loki was the good half of the god Aesir then that would make Loptr the evil half of the god. Kalrow had no doubt that Loptr was evil after witnessing what the child was capable of and his nature.
Kalrow quickly headed back to Deus, Olga, and Wyzen and told them what he had learned. A scowl appeared on Deus's face as he scratched his chin and processed the information. This was certainly big and concerning news. Loptr was a god and the evil half of a powerful god. He could pose a huge threat to the empire and the rest of the human race. Deus thought about going to the room Loptr was currently residing in and putting a end to the boy, before he could grow into a great threat, but decided not to take such a rash action just yet. He wanted to see how Loki held himself in the meeting with the Emperor and the Elders to get a read on him. If the boy proved himself to be a worthy addition to the empire capable of finally riding the world of the Gohma then he would follow the child and quickly rid the world of Loptr. If Loki did not prove to be helpful or worthy, then Deus would allow Loptr to live and make use of him.
The next day Asura, Luka, Rosa, Balder, Bayonetta, Durga, Mithra, and Loki were gathered in the grand assembly hall before Emperor Strada, Grand Elder Hel, and Grand Elder Odin. Deus, Wyzen, Kalrow, Olga, Sergei, Augus, and Yasha were also tending the meeting along with Jeanne and Heimdall, all of whom were curious about Loki and what he might do. Would the good half of Aesir reclaim the Eyes of the World to ascend to god hood and use his powers to wipe out the Gohma once and for all, or did he have something else in mind?
"Let us commence this meeting. Loki please step forward." Said Strada.
Loki did as he was instructed.
"Your name is Loki and according to our researcher Luka, you are the good half of the god known as Aesir?" Asked Hel.
"I am your grace." Said Loki.
"He has powers?" Asked Odin looking at Asura.
"The boy has powers like web never seen before." Said Asura.
"May we see a small demonstration." Said Strada.
Loki conjured up four large ethereal arms around himself and have them move around a bit before he made them vanish.
"Impressive." Said Odin.
"Now there comes the issue of Aesir's evil half. Is he currently out in the world somewhere or will he be born at a latter date?" Asked Hel.
"We would both be born at the same time though in different places. I can't sense his presence, but I know he's out there in the world." Said Loki.
"What would your other half do?" Asked Strada.
"He would most likely seek to gain the Eyes of the World to become Aesir, but he needs a special power from me to do that. The Sovereign Power. Aesir was wise enough to know to keep that particular power away from his evil half." Said Loki.
"Well that good to know." Said Odin.
"So well you reclaim the Eyes of the World to become Aesir and use your powers to destroy the Gohma?" Asked Strada.
Loki was silent for several seconds before he spoke.
"No I won't be doing that. One I'm a bit too young to go into Godhood, also Aesir gave humans the Eyes to help aid them along with free will. They were a gift. Secondly I feel that humanity has to overcome the Gohma and not me becoming Aesir. If I got rid of the Gohma a new threat would simply be created to take their place. The world has to be shaped by human hands." Said Loki.
"What about you willing give the Sovereign Power that allows you to wield the Eyes of the World. Cereza would be the perfect candidate due to her being a child of a Lumen Sage and a Umbra Witch, which gives her a mix of light and darkness." Said Hel indicating Bayonetta.
Bayonetta stiffened a little at this idea as her parents and Luka looked at her. True she was a unique mix and in theory she could handle both the Eyes of the World if Loki gave her the Sovereign Power to do so, but Bayonetta was a bit nervous about what that power might do to. Loki looked over at Bayonetta as if thinking the same thing.
"I could do that, but I'm not real sure what the result would be. It could drastically change her in many ways. I don't want anyone to get hurt or anything because of my power." Said Loki.
"But if it gives us ultimate power against the Gohma it's worth the risk." Said Deus speaking up.
"That's my daughter you're talking about risking." Said Balder shooting a glare at Deus.
"And I'm thinking about all the people of the world and protecting them. The needs of the many out weigh the few." Said Deus.
"Enough!" Said Strada getting everyone's attention.
"Emperor Strada. I want to protect our people and the world from the Gohma as much as anybody, but I don't want to risk one of our best warriors and champions to do so. Let's look at other means to deal with the Gohma before we make any big decisions." Said Luka.
"I agree with him." Said Asura speaking up.
Strada looked at Bayonetta.
"What say you Cereza. Do you wish to see to receive Loki's power and take in the full power of the Eyes of the World, or not?"
"I...think we should look at what else we can use against the Gohma before pursuing giving me the full power of the Eyes." Said Bayonetta.
"Alright. We shall respect your choice in this matter. This meeting is adjourned." Said Strada.
Everyone left the assembly hall. Deus was fuming under his breath as he headed to his quarters followed by Olga and Kalrow. The general couldn't believe what cowardly foolishness he had heard. They practically had ultimate power in the palms of their hands, yet both Loki and Bayonetta were too afraid to use it and neither the Emperor or the Grand Elders tried to push for it. Luckily there was someone else that could make use of that power. Deus and his comrades arrived at the room Loptr was staying and went inside. Loptr casual sat on a cot meditating before he looked up at his guests.
"To what do I owe this little visit?" Said Loptr.
"I know who and what you are Loptr. You're the evil half of the god Aesir and you desire the Sovereign Power to wield the Eyes of the World and the eyes themselves." Said Deus.
"Someone has been busy. So what exactly do you plan to do to me?" Said Loptr.
"Tell what you would do if you had all that power and then I'll decide what do with you." Said Deus.
"Well for starters I would cleanse this world of the Gohma and then I would use my power to make this world better." Said Loptr.
"At least with have some things we can agree on. You're willing to take charge and you don't fear the power of the Eyes of the World like the others, who refuse to act. I will help you obtain that power, but you work for me not the other way around. If you attempt to betray me, I will end you." Said Deus.
"Very well. I agree to serve you Deus and you have my word I will use the power of the Eyes to destroy the Gohma and make the world better." Said Loptr.
"Good. For the time being, your presence will be kept secret, until the time is right." Said Deus before leaving the room.
Loptr just smiled. Deus may think he was in control, but he wasn't. Loptr had a secret little power that allowed him to manipulate the darkness with humans and it was especially affective against prideful people like Deus. Soon the Sovereign Power and the Eyes of the World would be in Loptr's hands and a Aesir would rise again.
