04/06/2012, Underworld, Night time.
Inside the Lucifer Castle the current Satan Lucifer, Sirzechs Gremory is finishing his daily work. The crimson haired man is signing piles of documents. "Bureaucracy be damned" sighs the leader of devils as he reads yet another paper. While he's working a knock is heard on the door of his office. "Enter" says Sirzechs happy to stop signing papers for a bit.
A silver haired maid enters the room. "Oh Grayfia" the crimson devil smiles seeing his wife. "My Lord" politely greets the woman. "We have received a call from Rias for you." says Grayfia. Sirzechs brightens up hearing her name. "My little sister wants to speak with his beloved brother?" Sirzechs whistles happily and grabs a telephone handset used for 'Satan emergencies' which was given to him by Grayfia. "My dear Rias!" says Sirzechs. "Isn't it night time in the human wor-" Rias stops his brother. "Brother there is an emergency here in Kuoh!" says the girl in hurry. "Sona is calling Lady Leviathan! Something was in the sky! now there is a pillar of light it is divine light I don't know what's happening!" Rias is panicking trying to breathe. "Rias calm down" Sirzechs reassures his sister. "We're coming" Sirzechs hangs up and looks at the silver haired maid. "Grayfia we're going to Kuoh" declares the Satan.
"Zechs!" a scream is heard through the castle. Serafall Leviathan, Serafall Sitri before becoming the head of devils' foreign affairs, rushes to the Lucifer's office. "Sona. Kuoh. Now!" the pony tailed woman waves a star pointed wand casting a magic circle. Grayfia rolls her eyes seeing the embarrassing scene, but she doesn't pay it any attention as there is a much more important matter at hand.
04/06/2012, Kuoh Town, Night time.
Sirzechs and Serafall appear on the hill in front of the abandoned church, or the remains of it. The two satans look around and Serafall recognizes the Governor of the Fallen Angels. "You!?" the woman's devil aura is let loose and she glares at the fallen. Serafall seems to be ready to strike down Azazel, thinking he's the menace that put her little sister in danger. At first Sirzechs is on the same line of thought as Serafall, but he's able to make reason win and he doesn't immediately cause another war by using his dreaded power on Azazel and just looks at the man.
Elizabeth notices the newcomers. "Friends of yours?" she asks to Azazel which the man doesn't answer. The woman feels the tension in the air, she looks between the two devils and Azazel. She coughs to draw attention on her. "You seem on thin layers" she says earning the confused looks from Sirzechs Serafall and Grayfia who was patiently waiting her lord's words to take action.
"Are you a fallen angel too? What are you two doing in this town?" asks almost barking Serafall. Sirzechs tries to calm her down, but the current Leviathan doesn't seem to cool down at all. The devils then look at Makoto in Azazel's arms. "What are you doing with that boy, Governor General?" asks Sirzechs not happy to see a human boy who probably lived in his family's territory with a fallen angel.
Azazel takes a step forward. "Lucifer, Leviathan I apologize for my behavior, but I have to bring this boy with me". Azazel doesn't have the time to even think about leaving that Elizabeth is right in front of him. "Councillor give Makoto to me so you can deal with these three" the smile on the woman's lips strangely makes Azazel feel unease, but he can't let the Messiah die in his arms.
Before the situation escalates any further Rias and Sona arrive. "Yuki!" yell the two girls seeing the boy unconscious and in a fallen angel's arms. "Rias!" "Sona!" the two satans have a sudden change in mood as soon as they hear their siblings especially seeing them without any injuries. Serafall runs to hug Sona not caring about the presence of Azazel while Sirzechs waves lovingly at Rias earning a punch from Grayfia.
"Lord Lucifer I hope you are understanding that we are in front of an enemy leader" says coldly the maid. "Come on Grayfia, Rias is fine. All is well that ends well" says nonchalantly the crimson Satan. Sona tries to free herself from her big sister's hug. "Sister! Leave me! Yuki's in danger it's my duty as Sitri heiress to protect the inhabitants of this town" Serafall gasps hearing Sona naming Makoto. "What? What? What? My little Sona has a crush on a boy?" the woman hugs Sona even tighter screaming like an excited little girl. "Tell me everything!" Sona blushes trying to say something sensible but she stutters. "N-no w-what a-are y-you saying? I-it's n-not l-like that". "My Sona is so cute when she's embarrassed. Don't worry your big sister will fix this situation and bring your little boyfriend back to you" Serafall then turns back facing Azazel again.
Meanwhile Sirzechs was doing the same with Rias, with the useless efforts of Grayfia to stop his husband from behaving like a kid. "Oh Rias I was so worried!" whines the man. "You grew so much since the last time I saw you" says Sirzechs making Grayfia to facepalm. "Brother this isn't the time and we last saw each other last week" complains Rias. "It's been so longer to me! With all that paperworks I lost my perception of time!" Sirzechs complains about works and he clearly hears a loud sigh from Grayfia. "You can't disagree with me Grayfia!" says the Lucifer turning to his wife. "You are Satan Lucifer, Sirzechs. Stop behaving like a kid especially during duty" hearing Grayfia using a wife tone and not her usual maid one makes chills run down Sirzechs' spine who returns serious immediately.
Elizabeth was having fun watching Serafall and Sirzechs. "Are all devils like this?" she asks aloud. Azazel doesn't answer the woman's question, but still speaks to her. "We have to bring the Messiah to a healer. Let me take him to Grigori" Elizabeth shakes her head. "Makoto's completely fine. Give him to me" she says. "His heart is not beating!" yells Azazel. "How can you say he's fine I'm taking him to Grigori now".
Azazel takes a scroll and opens it revealing an inscribed teleportation circle. "Yuki!" Rias yells as she sees Azazel preparing to use the scroll. "Brother that fallen angel is going to kidnap a human from the Duke's territory!" Sirzechs looks at Azazel. He usually shouldn't interfere in the devil clans affairs, especially those of his family. As a Satan he should be impartial, this is the reason why he's no longer Sirzechs Gremory but Sirzechs Lucifer same thing goes for Serafall. But this situation is different. A fallen angel was going to kidnap a human boy from devil territory, and this fallen angel being no other that Azazel wasn't helping the situation. Sirzechs looks at Serafall unsure on what to do. On one side this could start a war with Grigori, a war no one wanted. On the other hand letting Azazel himself entering and exiting devil's territory as he pleased was an outrage to devilkind and the Council wouldn't like it and it could also damage devil faction reputation in all the supernatural world.
Serafall was sure on what to do: rescue her sister's boyfriend without possibly causing a war. Serafall looks at 'Yuki, right?' and is immediately marvelled by the boy's aspect in contrast to her Sona. Those blue hair and blue eyes truly made a good match with Sona's black and purple one. The bangs covering his right eye truly mirrored Sona's shy and reserved nature hidden behind her stricter one. "Governor General I ask you to leave the boy" says Serafall pointing her magic wand at Azazel. Sirzechs looks at her fellow Satan with wide eyes. 'Sera what are you doing?' he asks himself.
"I can't" says empathic Azazel. "This boy needs medical assistance right now". "Elizabeth what are you doing why aren't you helping Yuki?" asks Rias. Elizabeth sighs. "Makoto's not in any danger. I would like you to listen to me" she says looking at Azazel. Azazel looks back at Elizabeth. 'The Messiah seemed to trust this woman... that monster was right, I was really envious. I won't make the same mistake with the Messiah too. Father please forgive your ungrateful son, I have faith in the boy you wanted to meet so much. I have faith in you Makoto Yuki' Azazel gives Makoto to Elizabeth before teleporting away.
Rias and Sona run at Makoto's side. "Elizabeth what happened? What was that monster? Answer please" asks Rias. "Yuki... the fallen angel was right he's not... he's dead" says Sona in disbelief. Sirzechs Serafall and Grayfia get closer to the scene. "Rias, who's this woman" asks Sirzechs looking at Elizabeth. "She's Elizabeth, she saved Yuuto and Koneko but we have no time I have to reincarnate Yuki" Rias hurries to summon her evil pieces. "No I will be the one to save him!" protests Sona summoning her evil pieces as well. "Those gadgets won't work" says Elizabeth confusing everybody. "No they have to work" Sona tries to start the reincarnation ritual, but it doesn't start. "What?".
Rias tries too, but with the same conclusion. The girls look in disbelief at the not working evil pieces.
"They didn't even activate" comments Sirzechs curious. "Indeed" says Elizabeth "now if you let me bring Makoto home I'll explain everything to you" Elizabeth calmly looks at the devils. "He's dead what are you saying?" asks Rias. Serafall looks worried at Sona who fell silent. The Leviathan looks at Elizabeth. "You said he's fine, what do you mean?" she asks. "Makoto's not dead, don't worry" says Elizabeth as she summons the Velvet Room door seen only by Rias. "Elizabeth?" asks the girl. "I'll let Makoto rest, wait for me please" the woman disappears.
"Where has she gone?" asks Sona angered. "Ehy Sona..." Serafall notices the pain in Sona's eyes and tries to comfort her. "She went in the Velvet Room" says Rias. "What is the Velvet Room?" asks her brother. "Elizabeth didn't explain it that well but it's where they reside" answers the red haired.
"The Velvet Room was originally a place owned by my master and only those bound by a contract could enter. Makoto was once of them, he was a so called wild card" explains Elizabeth reappearing. Everyone looks at the woman. "Now that all dangers have been taken care of I can explain to you all mine and Makoto's reasons to be here and don't worry Makoto's fine" says Elizabeth smiling.
"I think we should talk somewhere else" say Sirzechs. "Elizabeth right? I'm Sirzechs Lucifer, head of devils' domestic affairs" politely greets Sirzechs. "Sona, could we borrow the Student Council?" asks the crimson satan. "Yes, Lord Lucifer" answers Sona who has recomposed herself.
The devils and Elizabeth arrive at the Student Council, chosen because it was the safest room from any spying magic in Kuoh Town. Sirzechs and Serafall sit opposite to Elizabeth with Grayfia and the two heiresses behind them. Before anyone can speak Sona asks the first question. "What was that monster?" the girl looks at Elizabeth, untrust clear in her eyes. "What monster?" asks Serafall confused, reaction shared by Sirzechs.
"That was Azazel" says Elizabeth. The devils in the room look at the woman confused. "Sorry to correct you, but Azazel was the man you were with before" says Sirzechs unsure on how to correct Elizabeth. "I know, but it was also the thing you two saw in the sky" says Elizabeth looking at Rias and Sona. "That was the shadow self of Azazel to be more precise".
"A shadow? What do you mean?" asks Sirzechs taking the lead of the conversation. "A shadow is the lowest part of one's psyche. Suppresed thoughts given physical form. When someone is unable to face their darker self it break loose and the shadow tries to kill it's other self".
"We've never heard nor seen anything like this" points out Sirzechs. "That's because this world has just manifested it's own Sea of Souls" replies Elizabeth.
"This world? Are you implying that this was caused by something from somewhere beyond our reality?" Sirzechs doesn't know why, but feels a chill down his spine.
"That's correct. I myself am from this other world. Me and Makoto are here to stop a powerful being to become the Nyx of this world". Sirzechs and Serafall look at each other and nod in unison. "Elizabeth, may I ask to postpone this meeting? I'd prefer my fellow satans, Beelzebub and Asmodeus to participate too" Sirzechs looks at Elizabeth waiting an answer. "Of course, after all is better for all of us to cooperate with each other".
After Sirzechs and Serafall say goodbye to their siblings they leave the human world using a magic circle with Grayfia. Rias looks at Elizabeth surprised by seeing the woman so at ease. "Elizabeth what happened to the shadow?" asks the red haired girl.
"Isn't it obvious? Makoto defeated it, even though he didn't do it in the most efficient way I must admit".
Rias and Sona stay in silent trying to process what happened tonight. "If you don't have any questions then I'm going" Elizabeth takes the velvet key, but Rias stops her. "Elizabeth, Yuki was dead, not even the evil pieces could revive him... how can he be fine?". Elizabeth look at the two girls. She takes the Persona Compendium. "You see... Makoto isn't dead, death is a state of being which Makoto has power on it".
Sona and Rias think to have misheard what the woman just said. "What did you say?" asks the Sitri heiress. Elizabeth seeing the two girls not believing their ears opens the Compendium and leaves through the pages summoning Thanatos.
Instead of appearing in his Thanatos form Ryoji appears in his human one. "Mochizuki!?" shouts both the girls. The boy waves his hand at them. "Ehy" he says softly. "This is the reason why Makoto seemed dead" says the attendant pointing at Ryoji. Sona looks at him. "I felt something strange about you, Mochizuki. What exactly are you?" she asks. "It's pretty late, are you sure you want to know now? Maybe it's better for you to rest" gently says Death. "No" firmly says Sona. "We take care of this now, Rias do you agree?" the other girl confirms with a nod.
Ryoji and Elizabeth then proceed to tell the two devil heiresses the reason why they are here in Kuoh and everything related to it. Ryoji's nature, Elizabeth's role and Makoto's mission.
"That is a lot to process" says Sona after the explanation ends. Rias looks at Ryoji "Yuuto mentioned your reaction when he said Nyx's name... I thought it was maybe for a sleeping sacred gear inside you. This is..." Rias doesn't end her sentence and instead looks at Elizabeth and Ryoji. "There's nothing to worry about. I won't harm anyone we are here to stop Nyarlathotep not to bring the Fall" says Ryoji smiling trying to lessen the pressure.
Rias shakes her head returning to her senses. "Sorry I didn't want to make the impression I feared you could harm us" says the red haired girl. Silence falls in the room. "I think we should go attendant" says Ryoji "See you on monday" Ryoji waves hi to Rias and Sona before he and Elizabeth depart.
When they leave Sona and Rias look at each other. "What do you think Sona?" asks the latter. Sona takes a deep breath. "We should wait for our siblings, at least we are sure they are not a threat quite the opposite in fact. If Yuki wasn't there to defeat that thing I fear the situation could have degenerated". The two girls stay in silence before they decide to separate and go to sleep.
04/10/2012, Velvet Room, Day
Makoto can't continue to sleep he turns around in bed, but it's futile. The boy takes a look to the near clock. 3:38 pm. Makoto slowly gets out of bed, he thinks about Elizabeth's words. 'I made the right choice' it's the only thing Makoto can think about. 'Universe I have to agree with the attendant on that' Makoto hears the voice of Odin. 'You shouldn't use Messiah's theurgy like that. I know you don't like thinking that way, but you are the only one able to fight against Nyarlathotep. Your life is more important than the the lives of some humans. Your soul might have become immortal, but your body is still the same' says the All Father. 'Shut up' replies the boy. Makoto doesn't want to hear any of that. 'I am proud of you Universe, you are a true hero, as always' Robin Hood proudly declares. 'Robin Hood don't spur the Universe on, that was utterly reckless' Kohryu chastises the folk hero. Makoto sits on one of the couches in the first floor. 'You should eat something Makoto' says Orpheus Telos, Makoto nods mentally and gets up. The blue haired boy isn't in the mood to cook so he decides to go out.
"Senpai!" while Makoto is searching for a restaurant he hears a familiar voice calling him. Irumi is running towards Makoto. "Senpai! I didn't see you during the last days you missed the last club meeting. Are you fine? We were all so worried!" the girl asks almost yelling to Makoto. "Yes I'm fine sorry for worrying you" answers him. "I'm happy to see you are fine" the girl takes out her phone. "Today we had our first practice I recorded it so that you could give us your opinion".
Irumi plays the recording. The sound that comes out from her phone is everything but music. Makoto can't even recognize the instruments played as it is a unintelligible cacophony of sounds. 'This is murder' comments Orpheus Telos. Irumi stops playing the 'music' and looks at Makoto eyes shining with hope. "What do you think?" she asks unable to contain her excitement. "Well... it was certainly interesting" Makoto tries to not hurt the girl. 'Yes, an interesting torture device' says Orpheus Telos. 'Worse than shadows' screams' says Apollo. 'That was evil even for you Apollo' says Orpheus Telos. 'No, it wasn't' replies the God of Music. 'I agree with Orpheus hee hoo' intervenes Jack Frost.
"Did you like it?" asks the bespectacled girl. "It needs some work, but we can create something from it". It is true there is always room for improvement, right? "Yes yes I expected you would say that. Any tips?" Makoto sighs at Irumi's insistence. "Maybe it's better we talk to everyone about this don't you agree?" Makoto tries to dodge the question without being impolite. Irumi pouts, but understands Makoto's reasoning. Then the boy's stomach growls and the boy blushes in shame. "Do you want to go somewhere and take a bite? I know a perfect place!" while saying this Irumi hides a laughter. Makoto simply nods nods and follows the girl who's still fighting against her laughters. "Sorry, but seeing you embarrassed like this makes me laugh so much!". The two teenagers arrive at the restaurant Irumi suggested. They enter and are greeted by the chef.
Meanwhile at Kuoh Academy a magic barrier was being set up. Inside the conference room of the school 4 devils are taking places around a table. Sirzechs Lucifer, Serafall Leviathan, Ajuka Beelzebub and Falbium Asmodeus. In the room are also present two of their peerage members. Grayfia Lucifuge, queen of Sirzechs and Behemot, an old bulky man with gray hair, rook of Serafall.
"I'm sorry my lords, but I still have not clear the reason why all the Satans are here. In a japanese town!" asks with a raspy voice Behemot. Grayfia gets closer to her colleague and hits him on his flank. "Just do your work" says the woman while coughing to cover her voice. Behemot groans, but listens to the maid's order.
A knock is heard on the entrance door. "My Lords, I brought our guest" solemnly says Sona. Elizabeth enters the room and she also takes a seat. "Good day devils" says the velvet room assistant looking at the satans.
