A/N: This chapter is like an extended summary and introduction to the concept of this fanfic. IGNORE this chapter if interested in ONLY the stories.

To explain briefly: this work is a longfic of thematically interconnected one-shot stories. And this chapter is dedicated solely to explaining the concepts and ideas behind that connection (this explanation would've been somewhere else, but alas, doesn't like separation of concerns).

So if you have no interest in that, you can just skip right past and enjoy the stories. If you are intrigued by the premise, though, come and read about what this thing actually is.

1) 'The Gravity Falls Enneagram'? What? What is an 'Enneagram'?

The Enneagram, geometrically, is an interconnected symbol (I'd share an image but ff net is terrible with links).

More specifically, it is a personality typing system. This means it works to classify people into types. It consists of nine (1-9) core personality types which reflect on the human mind. The symbol represents the interconnectedness between each type in the sense that each type represents one point of convergence. Anyone you know (including fictional characters) can be classified as a single Enneagram type along with a combination of other things. In this project, we will explore all of the core personality types in detail while mentioning other aspects of the Enneagram along the way.

It's important to understand that the Enneagram is not a system designed to mix'n'match personality types. The Enneagram types reflect our past experiences and the trauma we carry with us, and it shows what barriers we've formed to associate our pain with. The Enneagram's purpose is to help one discover themselves and attain awareness of their true essence which is void of the constraints imposed by any type or any personality. It can be used to understand others, as well—as a tool for empathy.

2) So what is this project? Why did you decide to write this?

This project is a combination of my observations about the Enneagram and the tremendous inspiration I've drawn from a beautiful musical interpretation of it. Said musical interpretation will remain unnamed (albeit it's not difficult to find at all) and should be noted as being a driving force in the writing of this series.

So, in essence, I decided to combine the two things I've come to love most—Gravity Falls and the Enneagram—into one. The purpose of this symbiosis is to showcase the vast greatness of Gravity Falls' characters and to hopefully demonstrate this amazing typology system to other people. I hope my stories and explanations help you learn something as you read.

3) How is this project structured?

This project is structured into nine short stories (character studies). Each story is made to represent one of the core Enneagram types. They are associated with a character from Gravity Falls who is representative of the given type. These characters also have symbols related to them (most will surely recognise them), which are visible in the logo of The Gravity Falls Enneagram. The logo itself is an adapter version of the Enneagram symbol, so one can infer which character fits where via it.

Before the beginning of each story, I will provide a short description of the type, a quote from a famous author or Enneagram influencer (an 'EnneaQuote'), and possibly other details surrounding the Enneagram. The descriptions won't be long since they're not the focus of the average reader, but I invite all to explore more about the types if they wish to. We'll be providing mostly an overview of the system. The end of each story also consists of ciphers (or 'EnneaCiphers'—getting the hang of it!) for the nerds out there.

4) How are the types going to be explained?

When prefacing a story with commentary on my side, I will seek to answer the following questions about each Enneagram type:

- What is the type, in essence? -

- What are the core characteristics of the type? -

- What causes them to be the way they are? -

- What does the type fear? What do they want? What do they uphold? -

5) Terminology Index:

- An EnneaQuote is a quote made by a famous Enneagram author, teacher, or influencer. Prefaces every type's story. -

- An EnneaCipher is a cipher at the end of each story designed to divulge more information about the stories, their creation, or something a bit more special. -

A/N: A big thanks if you've managed to read this. Now, you're fully geared to enjoy The Gravity Falls Enneagram, the ultimate index for the personality types of Gravity Falls characters!
